The unabridged CD-Rom read by Victor Garber is quite notable. The reader gives voice to all the characters. He creates a
suspenseful climax through variations in his voice. The reader also attributes to the modern fantasy by reading the greatly
written science fiction work with belief.

The first book grabs the reader and the sequels are great too. Here's what happens in Bunnicula: Things were never the same
after that dark and stormy night when the family arrived home from the movies with a cuddly little bunny they'd found wrapped
in a blanket left on a seat in the theater. Since it was a Dracula movies showing, they decided to name the bunny, Bunnicula.
It was Chester, their cat, who first noticed some very strange things about Bunnicula. For instance, the black and white markings on his back looked very much like a cloak and instead of the usual rabbit square buck teeth, he had sharp pointed fangs rather like a vampire's fangs.
Harold, the family dog, wasn't too impressed by these two oddities, but did notice that the rabbit seemed to sleep all day.
Then one morning the family discovered a white tomato and couldn't figure out what had happened to it. It seemed to be drained of its juice. Only Chester noticed the two tiny puncture marks in the tomato.
You'll love these books and their great animal characters. I'm glad the audiobook has the full stories and didn't trim them down.

I loved this product. The stories were fun, innocent, and interesting. Victor Garber's voices were wonderful, and I love
listening to him. The best was Howliday Inn, which was packed full of intrigue, fun, interesting characters, and mystery.

Count me among the Victor Garber fans who bought this set of CDs simply to hear Alias' Spydaddy do something others said he
did well. Also count me among those who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The books themselves are well written and seem
to be just fun to read. However, Mr. Garber as the narrator just brought them to life as he created a unique voice for each
character. A lot of times I didn't know which made me laugh more, the voices or the story itself.
As a 29 year old single person with no kids, I have no reason to listen to these CDs other than the pure enjoyment of them, and I think I will listen to them quite often.

Okay, I'll admit it. I bought these CDs because some of my fellow Victor Garber fans were going on about them. But hey, guess
what? I've really enjoyed the stories, too! James and Deborah Howe really thought things through with the first book, and
I loved the wonderful silliness of 'bloodless' white vegetables in the kitchen, Bunnicula's 'cloak', 'fangs' and daytime sleepiness,
Chester trying to be Van Helsing and failing in hilarious fashion. Poor Harold.... I'd be glad to feed him chocolate cupcakes
and give him MTRs anytime!
James has expanded the world of Bunnicula very well in the second and third books. After vampires, what else would you expect but werewolves at Chateau Bow Wow? The fiasco at Toby and Pete's school play had me giggling like nobody's business! He knows how to let the inherent ridiculousness of the situation build up to a great comic crescendo. I promise you I will get hold of the next three books, as I can't wait to see what happens next!

We enjoyed this book very much. Listening to Tim Russert's voice made it feel like you were sharing stories with an old friend.
His appreciation of his humble beginnings and up bringing are very evident. You can see why so many people connected with
how he delivered the important world happenings and made it relevent to all. A great story of how simple a fathers love can
be. Do not turn it off until you hear the epiloge, very tender, especially now.

Wonderful reminiscences of his childhood and relationship with his Father. The book took me back to my childhood and fun
times in the empty lot with kids. Being out all day. Riding bikes. Mom making donuts for the neighborhood kids while we
were busy building snow forts or christmas tree forts. What fun times!

A personal story of the relationship between a father and his son. This story personifies what a father/son relationship
should be. The values of the father handed down to the son serve to bring that son into manhood and establish his outlook
on life, his ethics and moreover his treatment of this fellow man. An excellent book and a must read for every father/son
relationship.

After listening to the original CD so many times that it's worn out, I decided to try the update version; I must say that
although some of the more updated verbiage is nice, I felt too much from the original was cut and the narrator was a tad too
robotic sounding, for me. I plan on ordering a new copy of the original, and passing on the copy of this version to someone
else.

I got a great deal and gave for gifts, but everyone felt like I did about it. Still may be perfect for others hungering for
the Word. I have to say, I love my old Gregory Peck reading the old testement. Wish he did the new.

This recording provides an awe-inspiring experience for Christians. It's like walking with Jesus and listening to his teachings.
Later, you'll find yourself in prison with a chained Paul as he sends his letters of love and admonition to the various churches.
There's only so much spiritual growth you can gain by merely reading the Bible. You also need to feel it deep inside your heart. To access your heart in this way, I strongly recommend listening to this recording which re-enacts the New Testament in the Today's New International Version. With music, sound effects, and excellent pacing, reading these sections of the Bible will never be the same for you.
These aren't just any performers: They are an all-star cast of some of your favorite performers. The excellence of their performances helps the words ascend towards heaven.
I intend to listen to these performances again and again. I'm sure you will, too!

I was very excited when I first got these recordings. I've put them on my iPod. The readers are fantastic. They definately
add the needed emotion and inflection to the Word. Where the production falls short is the periodic musical breaks. Every
few minutes there is a song that is interjected into the text. It usually has little to do with the text and is rather distracting.
Also, it's all black gospel. Don't get me wrong, it's good music, but it's definately not my style. Zondervan should really
consider alternate versions with different music styles. But this is all or nothing. I've found it distracting to the point
that I'm getting little out of the scripture I've just heard.
Definately worth a try, but be warned. If you don't like black gospel, or don't want your scripture interrupted by song, look for another version.

I wanted to love this!
I like the Little Bear books and I like Sigourney Weaver. I don't know that I like them together. She just doesn't convey the sweetness of the characters with her generally flat delivery.
I found the new age-y music distracting, too.
My daughter likes this, but I'd rather not be in the same room again while she listens to it. We've just listened to it twice, so I can't predict how well it will maintain her interest after repeated listenings (the Frances CD by Glynis Johns certainly has!). So, it's ok for Little Bear fans, but who knows how appealing this would be if she didn't already love the stories.

Dr Doigdge does an amazing job of teaching difficult scientific concepts in a manner that made me want to keep reading because
I was understanding it. Who would have thought that a nonfiction book about brain plasticity would become a page turner? I
hope he writes another book about the brain. As he points out, we are discovering so much about it and at a fast pace.

This book looks like a solid sort of semi academic-y pot-boiler but in fact it is a hugely engaging, eye-popping even, take
on how wrong the long held belief of 'localizationism' was (the view that the brain is made up mostly of hard-wired areas
fit for only one purpose) for example, claims like, the auditory cortex is only for hearing, the visual cortex is only for
seeing and such like.
it turns out that the brain is highly plastic (able to rewire itself over time) given the appropriate stimulus, and when disasters occur in the body or the brain, other parts can be recruited in to do the processing work.
It's a basic truism that we learn far more from failure than success.
Health disasters that befall people can turn out to be very instructive and beneficial for future sufferers.
Even those with very rare conditons can benefit when a seemingly intractable case is handled by an inspired doctor/scientist improvising with unorthodox methods. There is much hope to draw from all this, especially when success is achieved with conditions that the mainstream considers to be irreversible.
Brain plasticity is the coherent theme of the whole book and it is always the focus of every chapter in ever more novel and surprising ways.
I cannot begin to do justice to how Doidge explains this, because he is quite simply brilliant at writing.
Each chapter concentrates on a particular narrative or story of how plastic the brain is, the chapters are like high quality Vanity Fair articles and would even stand on their own, expect that there is a sense of progression in the book and later chapters recapitulate findings from earlier ones.
I have a sense that Doidge (who is a psychiatrist I believe) would have spent an enormous amount of time refining this book as it is beautifully crafted, hearteningly articulate and deserves to win a prestigious prize.
my favourites saying from the book is about how plasticity comes about:
"neurons that fire together wire together"
Read it, you're in for a massive treat.

Every once in awhile I have trouble falling asleep. I know where it comes from, I used to work the graveyard shift at a grocery
store for almost seventeen years and even though I haven't worked that shift in about five years, there are times when I just
can't seem to get to sleep or worse yet, stay asleep.
Fortunately, there is a wonderful program put out by the equally wonderful, Glenn Harrold. I have several of his programs and I really do not feel as though they are "hypnotizing" me as much as they are "de-hypnotizing" me. They help me let go of old beliefs, ideas, and attitudes that I have hung onto and have unconsciously acted out on.
I am a licensed spiritual counselor. I teach classes on meditation and relaxation. I know what anxiety and stress can do and yet there are those times where I fall "prey" to those occasional bouts of stress and anxiety.
Harrold's CDs immediately calm and relax me. Even if I still can't get to sleep, I find that I am less worried about falling asleep and most people who have trouble with insomnia are "trying" too hard to make themselves fall asleep. Making yourself or forcing yourself to go to sleep creates even more stress.
I'll tell you a "little secret" that works wonders if I still can't seem to let go of the day and drift off. I listen to Glenn Harrold's CD and then I'll just very calmly say to myself, "I don't need to go to sleep...I'm not tired...I could stay up forever...I'm not tired...I don't need to sleep...I could stay up forever..." and believe it or not, after a few minutes of saying these things I'm.....

Oh, excuse me. Sorry about that.
But anyway, I highly recommend this CD along with many others in Glenn's fabulous collection.
Here's wishing you peaceful dreams!
Peace Blessings,

OK, I am trying to get ahold of the original Scary Stories trilogy by Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammel.
The only difference I know is the artwork:

I loved these books when I was little- this is what got me started off on my love for scary books/movies/tv shows. I still
remember some of the stories from the books, especially one where the dark is creeping over the ceiling and walls, and they
always seem to come to mind when I'm in the dark trying to sleep. The pictures still scare me and I'm 26 now. I'd recommend
these books for anyone who loves scary stories- get those kids started off early! And they'll scare adults too...

I'm serious, when I was a kid I read these books and they scared me silly. The stories by themselves will set you on edge,
but what I remember most is the illustrations. Even now just looking at the covers give me a little chill and makes me want
to turn on all the lights I can find. THIS is the book that made me scared of the dark. Give it to your kids, pass on the
trauma, for science, to keep psychiatrists in work, for America. If you don't like these books, the terrorists win!

The stories you will find in these books are the most terrifying I have ever read. As I understand it, they originate from
American Folklore. This, in addition to Gammell's truly disturbing artwork, adds the minute shot of realism that transforms
harmless fiction to something that reads more like a short, historical, tale of warning. They are told in a simple, blunt
manner, giving the reader the impression that they are hearing a historical account. As a kid I was addicted to horror, but
these were the tales that led to literally months of sleepless nights. If you are buying them for a child with a vivid imagination,
prepare his or her parents' for the ensuing insomnia.
Near-perfect compilation of classic Scary Stories series!

This CD set is really a great find. I remember buying the original cassettes as a kid, after getting seriously scared by some
of the creepiest stories I'd ever read. Combined with Stephen Gammell's hideous, yet thought provoking drawings, the books
are bad/good enough themselves depending on your point of view! The only cons I have is that the collection doesn't contain
*every* single story from the first book. I remember the original recordings didn't either. So I give it a four and a half.
Nevertheless, George S. Irving's way of changing his voice from highs to lows, from quavering old lady to screaming fiend
complement this nightmarish trio of books perfectly. Even listening to the CD alone in the dark, all by yourself... one can't
help but get a few chills down the spine. I highly recommend getting a copy of the books themselves and reading along. I'm
almost 28 years old and I still get freaked out from time to time at the thought of these. I would say my two favorites out
of the whole bunch are "Me-Tie-Doughty-Walker!" and also "Somebody Fell From Aloft." Those scared me the most. Great books
for campfire stories!
