This is one of the great books for parents to get for their kids bookshelves. I've really enjoy reading this book when I was kid. It's about a childless old couple who got lonely and the old woman decide to bake herself a gingerbread boy, who ran away once done and kept on running from and cow and a horse, but only to end up getting outsmarted and eaten by the fox. A great classic tale and racy read. You even found yourself running along the gingerbread boy as you read this book.

An old woman and an old man have no kids, so the old woman makes a gingerbread boy. When she opens the oven, the gingerbread boy jumps out and runs away. He gets chased by the old woman and old man, a cow, a horse, and some farmers out threshing. Eventually, a fox manages to catch the gingerbread boy through cunning, and the fox eats him up. Some kids may find the story quite scary, and may find the unhappy ending a bit disconcerting. But it's a classic tale and quite engaging. The book has about 1300 words.

This book is really the "core" of beliefs that are expressed in many of the author's books.

Where this book excels is getting people out "employee" or "self employed" mentality and thinking in a "business owner" or "investor" mentality. After I read this book I really started looking at my co-workers in a strange way and decided I needed a change.

Kiyosaki recommends investing in assets that create a positive cash flow immediately. Easier said than done, but the author admits it's not easy -to get rich!

Since I've read this book, I've left the "employee" and "self-employed" mentality behind and have really focused on business owner mentality. Although my personal "cash flow" initially dropped in the process, my long term situation has definitely improved and put me on target to achieve higher levels of success.

A PRICELESS Education

Want to know why the rich get richer and everyone else seems to struggle? Is this an end all on the subject- NO it is not, as Robert himself would tell you the study of money if a lifetime pursuit.

However this book does an excellent job of describing the basics of why the rich get richer- and how they do it.

This book is also the first that enabled me to understand some basic accounting principles- mostly by not using numbers and formulas just some simple diagrams. Does it make you a CPA- No. But it does get a working class guy with little to no accounting knowledge the basic understanding of a personal financial statement.

Robert Kiyosaki (and his advisors) write books that make what seems to be complex money subjects seem understandable. Kind of the way AOL made the internet seem easy. Most of us have outgrown AOL a LONG, LONG time ago. And you can improve your financial literacy easily with Robert and his team.

Outstanding book. It provides the right financial wisdom that is so desperately needed by many in this country.
Oh, how I wish I could have had a book like this 20 years ago!
It will make much better sense if you read the first book in the series first though, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", if you haven't already done so.

Repetitive . . . yes

Like others, I do agree this book is a little repetitive. Mr. Kiyosaki does restate the same ideas he mentioned in his first book but he goes into more detail on other ideas; like how he made money on some deals. This book is meant to be a general 'coaching' and not a get rich quick seminar. So the repetitive pep talks are necessary and probably are similar in method to which his rich dad gave him. Furthermore, after a lifetime of repeating bad money habits, one needs repetition before correcting those habits. I do plan on continuing the series.

A Masterpiece

A great concept.

If you have not read any of Kiyosaki's books, read this one first.

I hate to use the word "paradigm" because it is often thrown around too easily and it is overused, but this book will change the way you look at your financial life.

Ultimately, you will need to read additional books after this one for more indepth content, but this book will get your mind going in the right direction.

Marianne Williamson's latest book will uplift many who need to know and understand that reaching 40, 45, 50 and beyond is not the end of the world as they know it. Marianne's dry wit and own experiences help the book along but her profound understanding of the way women think and her intense knowledge of A Course in Miracles glues the whole thing together, allowing for an inspiring read that re-ignites any flames that may have gone out in your life (or perhaps ignites flames that had never been lit!).

I love the way Marianne sees mid life as the opportunity for a second (and sometimes a third) puberty... finally reaching the point in our lives where our personalities have matured enough to know how to handle the opportunities and challenges that we are faced with every day. Retirement is less about stopping work and more to do with finding and doing what is really our passion. At 40 or 50 we have (God willing) another 40 or 50 years to discover that passion and live it, knowing that all the experiences in previous careers and relationships with others have brought us to the point where we now, hopefully, know what to do with it all.

What an Age of Miracles it is

Pleasant enough and upbeat, but when she quoted Werner Ehrhardt (founder of EST) in the introduction, I knew I'd made a mistake. The "conversations with god" books are awesome. This is how it's all intended to be in contrast to the authority the different churches try to force on us. The books make you see the bigger scale on things and how we can reach our true potential.

For people who don't have time to read, this is a perfect alternative for in your car or on your iPod (or at home of course). Time to get wise and change this world into the paradise it could (and should) be.
I thank Neale for the enourmous wisdom in his books.. The question if it actually comes from "god" isn't that important... but I think the message is just far too wise to just invent all of it.

A lot of stuff to ponder about, good luck with it!

There is alot of good stuff in these books for you to think about and learn from. BUT, IT SAYS INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE THINGS THAT ARE SUPPOSEDLY OK WITH GOD, SUCH AS CHILD MOLESTATION for example. I was very excited about this collection but half way through book 1, I threw them all in the recycle bin. The movie however was excellent and extremely uplifting.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU RENT THE MOVIE AND FORGET ABOUT THESE BOOKS. The movie does not delve into the things that GOD is supposedly telling him that he writes in his books. DON`T WASTE YOURE MONEY ON THESE BOOKS !

I do tend to be alarmed at the price though. I got my CD set over the counter for under 30 dollars.
Want a brandnew outlook on your spiritual life? Something that may appeal to yourself, rather than to the conventional masses?
This is a great way to start.

What is this book about?

Walmart got an unfair trade advantage by trading with Communist China, using their slave labor, and putting millions of small mom and pop American businsess out of business.

Walmart then supports the Republican party with their communist money.

Then some Commi Republican writes a stupid book. The Bush family has orchistrated our current free trade sysetem with China - the only country that systemiszes abortion yet they claim to be anti-abortion. Not! Plus they gave cCommi China the opportunity to poisen American children with toxic toys. Great job Republicans.

Read the end of animal farm and you will see the slave owning coomunists and their admiring capitalists working together.

Communism ended in Europe due to the greatest President Reagan and the fear he put into athiest pigs plus the union movement solidarty lead by Lech Walensa.

The Republicans today are funded by Communists and are Commi lovers. Read Animal Farm.

We need someone to fight for Democracy, not some screwed up vision of capitalism funded by trade with athiest communists, but plain Red, White and Blue Democracy. Vote Obama.

God, I wish Reagan were alive.

Our homes should also be more then just some capitalist driven Vegas-style pyramid scheme supported by a corrupt Republican engineered tax scheme.

I could write a book about the communist republican since the sad exit of Reagan.

I have really enjoyed this book. Goldberg has shined a light on what it truly means to be Liberal today. While I had heard some of this in college a lot of the information, especially about Wilson was all news to me. At times it does seem that Goldberg reaches a little to make his point, but he does make it. I would, and have, recommend this book to Liberals I know so that they can lean a little about their history and where their beliefs come from

Goldberg's book is excellent: well document, soundly reasoned, and sometimes painfully obvious for anyone who has studied the roots of progressivism, eugenics, the politically correct movement, the nanny state trends or the environmental movement.

Goldberg leaves no stone unturned. Wait until you see his sobering take on the origins of the minimum wage. It will surprise you. Much of the material in the book I had read or heard before. Goldberg, however, has done us a great service by pooling the ideas together in one comprehensive volume. So, what you might have gotten an inkling about by reading Robert Proctor's The Nazi War on Cancer, you get a fuller picture of in Goldberg's book. After all, who knew the Nazis were animal rights believers before Proctor? Not too many of us. Goldberg follows the line of thought from the progressives to modern day Democrats and leftists. The linking pin between those liberals a century ago and those today is fascism. This will come as a surprise to many people, but it is undeniable.

Goldberg's book is excellent. You won't be disappointed - unless you're a liberal and won't to desperately avoid the truth as liberals so often do.

Not What You Think It's Going To Be

Review Date: 2008-08-25
So many people, to include certain friends of mine, are all too willing to write this book off as just one more salvo from the Republican noise machine without ever bothering to read it. Goldberg's title is perhaps unfortunate in this regard, as it leaves one with the impression that it is another rightist screed targeting the usual suspects--"feminazis," militant environmentalists, and the like.

Goldberg had me right away, though, when he discussed the ways in which the word "fascism" (in contemporary discourse) has become pretty much emptied of all real meaning. It has become a sort of floating signifier onto which people project various meanings as they see fit. In the last forty years, "fascism" has been served as a sort of stand-in for "extreme conservative" or "Christian fundamentalist." One strain of this goes back to the protests of the sixties and continues in protest discourse today (a la Chris Hedges' book, for example). Yet, as Goldberg shows in his detailed historical analysis, "fascism" has never really been synonymous with conservatism in any significant way. Fascism is in fact a form of radicalism, as is Christian fundamentalism, whereas conservatism is a movement that is focused essentially on the preservation of tradition and the moderation of the impulse to institute reforms.

One of the great ironies of sixties-era radicals bandying about the word "fascist" to describe Richard Nixon and his ilk is that many of those radical groups who trafficked in such talk (Weathermen, the Black Panthers) employed many of the classic brownshirt tactics of fascist agitators.

This is a great book for anyone who has been perplexed by all the shifting alliances and labels of our times, and anyone who realizes how slippery and meaningless terms like "liberal" or "conservative" or "progressive" are when you try to pin them down. What it really leads the reader to do is rethink the way we think of the political spectrum, in terms of Right, Center, and Left. The radical Right and the radical Left, for example, have much more in common with each other than the radical Left does with traditional liberalism or the radical Right has with conservatism.

Goldberg's working definition of "fascism" is pretty much this: Total worship of the state, state control of all activities and expression, and state ownership of everything. Fascism is always more and more government. The classic example of Fascism, Mussolini's Italy, is exactly this when you examine the historical record. True conservatism, on the other hand, always seeks to lessen the influence of government.

Certainly, the Franco regime in Spain was heavily Catholic and at the same time in political sympathy with Germany and Italy (but ultimately neutral during WWII), but it is important not to confuse "theocracy" with true Fascism.

Goldberg's readings of Rousseau, Robespierre, Sorel, Mussolini, Hitler, Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan, and many other figures are lively and very perceptive. Many of his revelations are shocking and surprising. Woodrow Wilson, for example, has gone down DRASTICALLY in my estimation after reading Goldberg's interpretation of some of his major writings.

If Hillary Clinton-style liberalism and fascism have anything at all in common, Goldberg says, it's the notion that the state is the supreme arbiter and caretaker for all and of all.

I purchased the Magic Tree House audio set because my four-year-old daughter is always asking me to tell her stories. Sometimes, I just can't get my imagination going, so I thought this would fill in my blank moments. And, in fact, it has done a wonderful job of it. We play them in the car while driving around. They really captivate my daughter. The subject matter is very interesting to children: dinosaurs, mummies, castles, pirates. The stories increased her interest in these areas.

The CDs have also given me new ideas for stories--using the characters from Magic Tree House--and in other ways stimulated creative interaction between us. They have increased her vocabulary as well.

It is also a great way to motivate her to get in the car when we had to leave: "Come on, let's go hear a story!", I say.

I also love the fact that they are not the Disney-fied, commercialized versions of stories. I intend to purchase all of Osbourne's Magic Tree House CD sets.

My one comment toward improvement would be to put each story on its own CD. This set has four stories on 3 CDs, which is not quite as convenient when wanting to locate/isolate a particular story.

My son loves these stories and he learns a little about each destination. The only problem I have with the books is that proper sentence structure is not always used. Did the editors not notice? These books are for beginner readers, so it is confusing to them not to have proper "subject/verb" sentence structure.

I have the audio CD versions of every story 1-24 and 29-32. I can tell you that the stories 29-32 are much longer than any of the books in the first few sets.

For example, books 17-24 have a total play time of almost exactly 5 hours compared with books 29-32 with a total story time just over 5 hours. So, you get 50% less "books", but the same story reading time.

I am just purchasing this set 25-28 now, and I do not yet know the running time of these stories. But.. you should evaluate the hours of audio enjoyment, not just the number of books when making your comparisons. Perhaps Amazon will add this information to the details, or perhaps I just missed it.

Ok, well, another reviewer pointed out that the number of stories decreased, but the length is the same, and believe it or not he's right. I wrote this before we got them, but after we did I checked how long they played and yep - sure enough, just about the same. The stories are getting longer and so much more imaginitive and fun (if that were possible!). I'd add the other 2 stars if I could, we're happy again :)

Why are there only 4 stories on this set for nearly the same price as 8 on the previous three audio CD releases? I'll buy it because my daughter loves them, but I can't say I'm thrilled with paying only $2 less for half the content.

The most successful way I've found to learn Turkish

I've wanted to learn Turkish for a long time now. My wife is Turkish, and I can't communicate with her family (yes, I know, to some that would be a problem not worth fixing).

This is an excellent audio course, and it has no fluff in it whatsoever. You start playing the CD, and GO! I use it during my 1 hour commute each way in the car. As others have said, I sometimes need to rewind because I can't always think as fast as they want me to, but I transferred it to my mp3 player, and it's easy to go back a few seconds and try it again.

I've tried Rosetta stone, but basically it just sat there because I had to dedicate the time to sit in front of a computer and do it. For me, this is much better.

Be forewarned, however, that you need to repeat things out loud constantly, and if you are not in a private place, it's not going to work out.

In the very first lesson, they start by saying, "Listen to this conversation in Turkish." Only 30 minutes later, you listen to the exact same conversation and you understand it!

5 stars.

It's good because it keeps on repeating itself- can be easily used in an MP3 player in the train. The course is built logically, and is easy to follow (assuming you listen to each lesson a few times). However, it is unfortunate that there is no book to accompany the CD-Rom, as I would like sometimes to see what I'm hearing.

I admit that I was skeptical about whether or not I would truly be able to absorb and learn to speak and understand Turkish with 30 minutes a day for 16 days but -- Wow! I have had this product for 4 days and I'm not only impressing myself but the native Turks that I work with. At the beginning of the first 2 lessons, I was a little overwhelmed because I didn't think I was retaining any of it and I was struggling to recall the words. I'm not sure how but, at some point, it became almost second nature and I relaxed and the words came out. It helps that I have native Turks to converse with and I get extra practice.

I don't really see any negatives in this program except the price of the full set. I'm not sure why it is so much more but, since I'm hooked and want to know more, I'm considering buying it anyway. I guess that explains the price! I've tried to learn Spanish and French before with traditional methods and I can't speak either of them. I think the biggest thing that I noticed is my ability to understand the native speakers. They certainly do not speak it as perfectly as the people on the CDs and there are some slight variations in pronunciation but I still understand it.

I'm amazed that something actually was exactly as advertized.

Excellent method of learning a language

This is the best method of learning a language I have ever experienced. I have studied many languages and would be surprised to hear of a method I have not tried. This is CD-only learning, nothing written, nothing read. You learn like a baby does -- a very big, smart, old baby. Here are some tips for making the best of a great method:

1. Do each lesson three or four times before going on to the next.
2. Do a lesson a day, five or six days a week.
3. Repeat everything the CD asks you to repeat. "Repeat" means say out loud.
4. Answer every question it asks of you.
5. Repeat every answer or example you are given.
6. Do your lessons without headphones and with sufficient volume on the CD player.
7. Don't be bothered by the speakers' fluency (speed) or the short time given for you to respond. Let these gently pressure you into your own fluency. If you need to, do a lesson more than the usual number of times until your fluency is passable.

Note: To see what I think about the larger 16CD Pimsleurs, search Amazon's So You'd Like To guides for "learn a language for no good reason". I talk there about when the big ones are good and when other cheaper options are better.

I listened to this audio CD in the car. I was very satisfied of the message and it's delivery. I've always been able to create a destination but never knew exactly how to set the goals that would help me through a mapped out journey. Zig Ziglar uses great analogies in his seminar that anyone can comprehend and use as a model for setting their path.

The biggest lesson was about the company we keep, or the situations we keep ourselves in; we are who we associate ourselves to be. If we have negative thoughts, negative will be surrounding us. Positive thoughts will be a positive aura for us. It is our way of thinking that forms us. His example included the child with CP; this child had 30 diagnoses that he would never do, never walk, never be... but this child was raised with a different mindset and miraculous things became possible. As with a second child to reference, the child was misdiagnosed with CP; that child's life was able to show the complexity of psychology for thoughts and actions.

Zig uses humor in his anecdotes and it carries well with his audience. I found myself recognizing many things that I'd overlooked or taken for granted in the past. I chuckled often with the humorous stories. There is even a section for motivating anyone who needs help with dieting. He broke it down so well, it seems fail-proof.

I recommend this audio (and I mean AUDIO, not so much a book because you cannot feel his energy by reading text) to anyone who struggles with 'where to start' as they journey along the 'wandering' path. I look forward to hearing more of his speeches.

Ziglar does a great job with this one.

I attended a "Get Motivated Seminar" and heard Zig Ziglar in person. He is amazing, funny and truly inspirational. I got Zig Ziglar's books on cd so that I can listen to them on my ipod/car. What he calls "Automotive University". I am truly inspired by him and would highly recommended all of his books!
