We love these dinosaurs books. They are for kids of all ages and for boy OR girl. They are so cute and teach a lesson. This one is about colors and though it isn't my favorite of the series, it is very good. I love the pictures and so does my daughter

As good as the other "How Do Dinosaurs..." books

This is a pretty good book. My son doesn't like it as much as Goodnight & Food. I don't really think it is a good tool for teaching colors if all you do is read the story. You have to linger on the pages and do that yourself, and we all know that all the kids want to do is flip to the next page as fast as possible.

Great present for 3 yr old.

I gave this to my nephew who just turned 3. He and all his cousins are into Dinosaurs right now, so he loves the book. His mom was happy, cause all the other books he has on Dinosaurs are reference style books and to old for him. She says it is great that there is so many books in this series. She used to have to look at the same book over and over again making up a story to go along with the pictures.

Wonderful !!

We all know this book, no need for me to re-iterate the plot.

What makes it work, though, is that Dr. Seuss understood the importance of breaking the rules - something many of his imitators never grasp. He didn't stick to a rhyme scheme or a meter all the time, he varied it and dropped it when needed. That makes his books readable instead of mind-numbing - even when you're reading them for the 1000th time straight :)

As a mom of a 24 and an 8 year old (I know . . . big surprise) I am firmly of the opinion that Dr. Seuss is the greatest American philosopher! In this book he urges us to try things that we may be afraid of or even repelled by. Many folks think this book applies only to food but I think he is urging us to be more brave in all avenues of life. We need to listen to those around us urging us expand our horizons. I believe that if we go for it and 'take a bite of the egg and ham' then we too will say "Thank you, thank you Sam-I-am."

Fun for kids and adults!

I forgot how much I loved this book until I began reading it for my 3-year-old. She loves it, and I love reading it to her (unlike the ELMO books which our daughter loves and I dread). You really can't go wrong with Dr. Seuss. The illustrations are imaginative and the writing is really a work of genius in children's literature. I can't recommend this highly enough.

Being the cruel and heartless person that I am, it was been years since I have bothered to so much think about this book. But, it being the week of the celebration of Dr. Seuss I have been reading various Suessian books to them. I forgot what a fun tongue-twister of a tale this was! My kids were able to repeat entire sections of the book with me and the illustrations are entirely animated without moving. Awesome book.

I love this book. I love any book that enables me to teach my child anything about safety. This book allows my daughter to see the keypad and dial the numbers just like on a real phone. It has a very simple "story" and is easy for her to understand. My ONLY complaint is that it's not as real-life as I would like it to be. On a REAL 911 call, the operator generally answers and says "911-What is your emergency" or something to that effect. It seems silly to me that the sound effects in this book say "911-Let's go!!!" and then blares sirens and fire truck horns. I just think that it should be closer to a real life situation since 911 is a serious phone call. Other than that one tiny thing, I think this is a great book to assist kids in the importance of dialing 911 and learning that it's just for emergencies and not for playing!!

Great for young kids!

I highly recommend this book for toddler age kids, it allows them to dial 911 and gives different reasons for calling for help. The pictures are for young people, they are not scary or intimidating! The classroom teacher made a lesson plan from this book after my son brouhgt it in for show and tell!

I gave this book to my three year old grandson after talking to him about how to call 911 and reasons to do it. The book has a phone pad so 911 dialing can be practiced and memorized. The dialing is answered with the sound of sirens; it would be better if a voice said, "What is your emergency, where do you live and what is your name?." The siren is very loud. Overall tho, I think the book is helpful in giving examples of what conditions would require a call to 911. My grandson knows his name, his address and how to hold his hand under someone's nose to see if they are breathing. The book is sturdy and colorful and will help children learn when and when NOT to call.

I did an ISBN number search and found that these are the titles in this set: "The Poky Little Puppy, Tootle, The Saggy Baggy Elephant, Tawny Scrawny Lion, Scuffy the Tugboat," and "The Shy Little Kitten." A bonus blank Little Golden Book with the official gold foil spine lets children create their very own classic. Full color. Consumable.

It's very strange and annoying that the title are not included on the Amazon page. I too am trying to buy multiple LGB and can't figure out which to buy!

I had one of the Bright Baby books (colors) in my daughter's "library." I liked it so much better than most of what she had because it was one object per page with a big, real picture. Many of her other books had multiple pictures per page which made it hard to focus on one image or they had cartoonish pictures that weren't always a good representation of what they were supposed to be. Based on the ease and clarity of the Bright Baby Colors book, I ordered the First Words and the Animals books. I am not disappointed. With these books, there's one picture per page for my daughter to point to and for me to tell her what it is. I can tell that she's recognizing these pictures a lot easier and a lot quicker than images in other books. They are definitely a great tool for fun learning.

We were given this book in the hospital when my daughter was born as a gift from a community literacy project. Now, at 7 months, it is one of her favorites. The format is perfect for a young baby with only one word and its corresponding picture per page. The beautiful photographs are set against a colorful background and the pages hold my daughter's attention much longer than most of the books specified for her age. The other bonus is its sturdy construction. Since my daughter loves to explore her books with her mouth, her other board books quickly become worn around the edges. Not this one. The durable material of which it is made is holding up beautifully. Highly recommend!

This was my favorite book as a child and I still love the idea for the story--working hard to enjoy the fruits of your work, while those who do not contribute cannot expect to enjoy those same rewards. Last year I started a small project of giving this book to everyone I know who has small children. I even sent stacks to friends in other states who then gave them out to people they knew. I received some very kind thank you's and comments from people I did not know who appreciated the message of the book. I would recommend this book to both children and adults.

I'm surprised anyone still reads this. It is about the value of working and teaches the lesson that those who don't work should not share in the efforts of those who do work. If the major media and the federal government find out that people are still reading this you can expect it to be attacked or banned.

These are really nice quality cards. My daughter loves it when I get them out and it's nice for me too because on the back of each card is written some questions/interactional phrases to use when presenting the card. It comes in handy when I'm really tired and can't think of another thing to say about a particular animal. After a few times, she can pick out different animals from a selection of a few when prompted. Nice & fun language development tool.

It's silly that these cards are labeled for ages 4-8. My son has loved them since receiving them for his first birthday. He loves to shuffle through the cards, pointing and demanding to know what the animals are called and attempting to imitate their noises. The best thing about them is the card format - a novelty compared to all of his books. I will definitely purchase other sets.

I have found these cards to be the best and sturdiest for the price. The Baby Einstein ones were a disappointment in comparison. These had 16, Baby E had only 10. The box (which my daughter loves) is sturdy cardboard and has a velcro closure, as opposed to a flimsy box she squashed in 2 seconds. And the cards are the biggest difference -- very sturdy and professional looking! If you're looking for great cards, this brand is the best.

As she gets older I think she'll get more out of the content of the cards, making this purchase an investment that will be useful for a few years.

While the song is adorable and the pages are nice and sturdy, what I really like about this book are the illustrations. They are vibrant and clear and my son loves looking at this book over and over again. He is 16 months, so it is easy for him to point out animals and ask what they are. I like how the whale goes from being a baby, to a larger whale in the book and how different pages are shown with different perspectives. One page has a view from where the bird is flying in the sky--so the bird is large and the whale is small because he is swimming in the sea below. Another page has a broad view of the icebergs, sea, sky and northern lights. I am very impressed with the clarity and creativity of the illustrations in this book--and of course the song itself is fun to sing!

My nine month old absolutely LOVES this book! It's the craziest thing; he literally squeals with excitement when I read it to him and tries to turn the pages in anticipation of what's next. I end up reading it over and over (which is not difficult since the whole thing has about ten words) because he gets very upset when it ends. Yes, it is utterly simplistic, but it is also surprisingly captivating for little ones. To those who criticize: I am sure this book is meant for those with very short attention spans and little knowledge of the English language. It's a BABY book!
