This book tought my 6 year old how to tie his own shoes in 1 day.

I ordered this book after I read about the good reviews. But I am disappointed. I do not really care what kind of methods (one or two loops) the book shows as long as my son can tie his shoes. But the pictures are really confusing for a 3.5 years old. The max he can do is to put the red lace over the yellow lace and tie the first knot. When it comes to the loops, he is totally lost. Hopefully it will work for an older kid. As for the wordings in the book, which the reader supposed to memorize and be able to tie his shoes later on, are not even rhyme.

This book helped my son (5) understand the concept of tieing laces. The two different colored laces in the book are geneous. We put this idea on a pair of his shoes and it helps him tie a bow. I highly recommend trying it for your kids. My younger son is interested and exploring the book as well.

My son already knew how to do bunny ears - I thought this would teach him the other way. The problem with the bunny ears method is that kids don't get the shoes tight enough. So this was good in that it gave him the confidence to tie his own shoes, however he still needs a lot of help to get them tight. The kids have since knotted the laces up completely.

I purchased this for my 4 year old when she started telling me she wanted to learn how to "tie shoes like a big girl". She was excited to start as soon as we received the book, and continues to practice. The poem inside is cute and the laces easy to work.

This is such a sweet book. We gave it to my dad to tell him we were having a baby. He reads it to his grandson now.

This book makes a great gift for a father to give to his expectant daughter. My daughters loved it!!

Billy Crystal touches the hearts of all grandparents-to-be, both male and female alike. I also gave it as a gift to my brother who was becoming a first-time grandpa. It is very special to read the book to your grandchild and to let them know how very loved they were before they were born and after too. It says it all!

This is a great book, I would recommend it to everyone. I love the soft written words and the art work is really sweet and touching!

Very basic, but my 1 year old loves it. Perfectly age-appropriate, with big bright colors and only a few words per page, just what she loves right now. She doesn't have the patience for anything more involved, and loves to just flip the pages and point to the pictures. The way I understand it, each of these books gets a little more involved with each age, which is wonderful. I will be sure to keep collecting them for her birthdays.

I bought this for my niece on her first birthday. Simple story, but has an area were you can write who was at the party and 2 pictures can be added. I thought this is a fun way for her to look back at her first birthday. I'm planning on her getting the other birthday books (2,3 & 4).

Cute book with a place for 2 pictures. Includes story and a place to record info. on your child's 1st birthday.

This is part of a collection of Happy Birthday I'm ___ (fill in the age). The first two pages are about the child: Name, birthday, who gave them the book, and a place for the picture. Then it tells a story of a bunny, in simple board book format with simple illustrations. pg 1 "It's Hop's birthday" pg 2 "There's a birthday cake..." pg 3 "with one candle" pg 4 "make a wish" It continues in this fashion with part of the Happy Birthday song sung and ends with Hop eating the cake. The last two pages has a spot for the picture of the child at their party and a list of their gifts. I gave it four stars and not five because the text is not the stuff of classic children's literature as in Pat the Bunny or such but still cute enough to hold a one year old's attention. A nice keepsake and a nice book to read before a birthday every year.

This is a nice series to introduce birthdays to children. Our collection is growing, and the earlier photos are fun for children to look back on. Not much of a true story-line, but a good keepsake that children can play with.

This is a pretty good Dora book.It is colorful and does help your child to learn numbers up to 10 in English and Spanish

What a cute way to get little ones interested in numbers. As usual, colors and pictures were eye catching.

This is a good book as it help kids to count both in Spanish and English and the Spanish is broken down for proper pronunciation. I would recommend it to any parent. Counting is only up to ten though.

My 18 month old daughter loves Dora. I bought this book in a boxed set so she could have some books with Dora. I really like this book because it uses different fruits and it's very colorful. Of course my daughter loves it since it's Dora. We've only had this book for about two weeks and I think I've read and/or listened to my husband read it about fifty times.

This book and DVD are a must! My kids love it and we sing the Chicka Chicka ABC song all the time. I now buy it for gifts and the kids just love it!

I heard this was a great book, but it was disappointing. There's no flow to this book at all. I kind of felt like it was missing something. . . I now realize that there's another version that is more complete. I do not recommend this board book at all. Honestly, not even for babies. Just because it's a sturdy board book to chew on isn't a good enough reason for me!

I had really liked the original version of this book which is meant for slightly older children. So I got this for my 14 month old daughter. She is least interested in it although she loves books and has many favorites. I didnt like it much either. There is no rhythm and the text doesnt flow very well. In fact, the last few pages just contain a bunch of alphabets thrown in as if in a hurry to finish the book. There are better books out there!

Have to have this book if you have a newborn. Scholastic has a really fun DVD that adds a fun carribean inspired tune to the book too. My children have LOVED this book since they were very young and still respond to it.

I ordered this book knowing that I liked the content, but I was very excited about the bonus shaker....my 7 month old son didn't let go of it for a day....the second time he dropped it from his high chair it broke in two, which was sad. it was very cute for the day and 1/2 that it lasted.

My three children grew up with Harry - now my grandchildren are enjoying all of the books in the series. Simple stories are the best ...

This was one of my favorite books as a kid so I knew that I HAD to get it for my son, especially since he loves dogs too. This edition is so cute, and the board book makes it perfect for little hands that like to rip paper. I plan to get this for future kid gifts.

A wonderful gift for Grandma to give a two-year-old. It's too difficult right now, but he'll grow into it. I love that it came with a monkey toy that he can relate to better than just cardboard! His parents love it too, the BrainQuest, not the monkey.

I got this for my 15 month old daughter. We take out a lot of books from the library and read together and often while reading I ask her questions - what is X doing? where are his shoes? can you see flowers in the picture etc etc? So, this particular brainquest has words that she already knows and the questions themselves are relatively easy for her (we have done only the first, there are three).
I try to keep up her enthusiasm for the brainquest by doing this as a special activity and only a few pages at a time.

The Brain Quest series for children is an interesting and creative way to learn! The size is great for travel or waiting and is handy to just keep in one's purse for use when needed.

The premise of the game is, it asks questions regarding the pictures on the cards and the child tries to answer them according to the illustrations. (The answers are provided as a cheat guide for parents.) One of the great things about it is that it encourages parent/child interaction. All of the cards are printed front and back and typically a card has 3 scenes in it for the kid to name the scene, the action the character Max the Monkey is doing, and objects in the scene. So things like they'll show Max the Monkey putting socks on and it asks, "what is Max doing?" You can also have the child name the colors.

I do agree with another reviewer in that the rivet that binds it is too tight. It'd easily get torn or destroyed by your average 2 year old trying to figure it out. I would love to see a thicker, board book type version of this so it's sturdier for toddlers. I would pay extra for that to have it last longer.

I wouldn't wait till 2 yrs old to get this for a child though. I only learned about it when my child was 2.5 yrs old and most of it is already too easy for her. I would think a 1.5 yr old would be a good age to start with this one.

I do absolutely LOVE the fact that it is bound together and there's no more 52 card pick up with flash cards! I cannot even begin to express how thrilled I am about that alone! It's a perfect portable size to keep in the car, or bag to take anywhere. I wish I discovered this a long time ago, it would've been perfect for those lengthy waits in the doctor's waiting rooms. I also really love that it's curriculum based so it actually pertains to what my child learns in preschool so she can relate to it.

I share the opinions of most of the favorable reviewers of this product. These BrainQuest decks have really increased my two-year old's vocabulary. I am really impressed with this product. My daughter also loves Max the Monkey. It is made of foam, but it seems to be sturdy enough for her. BrainQuest decks, along with the Leapfrog Learning DVD series have really helped my daughter increase her language and math skills. I would recommend these to anyone who would like to help their child have fun learning.

My 2 year old daughter enjoys this book. She often ask for her I-spy book(s) again and again and sits and looks through the book by herself. It keeps her occupied and sitting still for several minutes and that says alot.

My son is always picking this book these days. He loves to find everything and does pretty well at 2 1/2.

Good starter I spy book for the younger spier in your house. I would say 3 or 4 would be the oldest.

This is a really cute book and would be perfect for a I spy beginner and a younger reader. My child is 3 1/2 years old and she loves I spy books and this is not for her. I gave it five stars because if I had purchased this last year when we were at a different level it would be fine. I will keep it and bring it out when my son is a bit older.

I bought this for my two year old and he loves it. He knows where all the pictures are ( he did before we left the store) an he still sits there with it in front of him for long peroids of time. I am trying to get the whole set. I don't know how many are in the set though and I was hoping that there would be some place where you could buy them in a complete set.

This book is not what I'm used to from the Berenstain Bears paperback books: lessons on growing up from Brother and Sister. It is, however, very good for teaching my 15 month old about inside, outside, upside down, right side up. She enjoys the book, but not as much as many of her other books that have more things going on.

This is one of the earlier Berenstain Bear books, and it shows. Ignore the cover, the bears on the *inside* of this book are less stylized and cutesy than the bears in the newer books, and the story is an early reader instead of a longer read-aloud.

It's a cute little story about a cub and his misadventures in a box. The illustrations make it perfect :)

There are only a few words per page, so this one is perfect both for early readers and for little-little ones learning to talk - the book focuses on prepositions, as you might guess from the title.

This delightful classic makes a great first book for the child who is ready to read to him/herself. Its rhythmic rhymes and colorful pictures provide plenty to keep the young reader from losing interest from beginning to end. Its also an excellent book to read to very young children. You may hear them reciting the catchy rhymes to themselves. This is a book well worth buying!

My 10-month old babies have no interest in this book, and they love board books!

This is one my son's favorite books. We started reading it to him when he was about six months old. Now, he's two years old and still absolutely loves it - when we read to him and when he "reads" to us.

Like all Berenstain's beginning books, this book is a wonderful vocabulary lesson. Our son has clearly expressed his understanding of "inside," "outside," "upside down," etc. for the last six months. When our friends and family comment on his impressive comprehension we always say, "It's thanks to the Berenstains."
