My daughter loves it

This is a great book and my daughter loves the pictures. The rhyme is off but the stories are pretty good. I was not to thrilled with the second story the run away bunny. So I changed it to the explorer bunny and made it a fun time trying to eye spy the bunny on each page.
I felt the run away concept was in poor taste and my daughter doesn't need to feel the feelings the bunny expressed by wanting to consistently run away from his mother. I don't want to convey my love as a trap but as a security for my daughter something she wants always even when the feelings of exploration over take her. I want her to invite me to explore with her and not have her think she needs to run away in order to have that freedom.
Besides that it is a good collection and a good money value.

This book is very simplistic. My son who is almost two was not interested in the stories. Perhaps the book would be better suited for a much smaller child where the attention span is much shorter.

A book every child should have!

Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny are two books that every child should have read to them. I had both read to me as a child and thus they are two of my favorites. I kind of liked having them as separate books, but having them together in one book is okay too. A great baby/children's gift.

Three Books in One

Over the Moon is a collection of three books in one. Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny and My World are all written by late children's book author Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by late artist Clement Hurd.

Goodnight Moon is celebrating its 60th anniversary. A sweet little bunny tells everything in his room goodnight as he settles in for the night.

A red balloon. Kittens. Mittens. A comb. A brush. The bunny describes his room and wishes all of his daytime play things goodnight. The illustrations also describe the room, giving parents the perfect opportunity to show each item to their children as they read.

The Runaway Bunny features a boy bunny who wants to run away from home. He describes all of the many adventures he will take to leave the comfort of his home and mommy.

But mommy bunny isn't about to let her baby boy run away. She describes the many adventures she will take to bring her bunny boy back home.

My World is a fun story full of rhymes. Comparisons like mother's chair versus my chair show big differences in adult sizes and child sizes.

All stories are perfect bedtime tales for parents reading to young children. They're also good starter stories for children learning how to read.

I absolutely love reading this book to my daughter. I've read it so many times, I practically have it memorized. I had never heard of My World which is the last story featured in the collection, and I wasn't too impressed with it as I was Goodnight moon and Runaway Bunny. But oh well, for the price I believe its a pretty good deal.

This is a simple book of a Little Sal, and Little Sal's mother, and Little Bear, and Little Bear's mother, who get mixed up with each other on Blueberry Hill.

It's very realistically written and illustrated, and the exciting part isn't too scary for little ones.

I will note that it's a bit long - maybe better for kids with longer attention spans than shorter ones. If they're as young as Little Sal is, it might be better to wait a year before reading :)

I don't understand the positive reviews here or the caldecott award. The sketchings are artistically done, true, but in a way an adult can appreciate intellectually; they don't really evoke emotion. The story is a yawner.

One of my grandson's first words was "ball" and then "backet ball" (basket ball). If it is round, rolls, and hopefully bounces, he loves it!! I bought this book for him for this Christmas and although he hasn't seen it yet, I know he is going to love it, especially because of the flaps that he can lift! Great book!! (For all ages).

This book is fragile and my son destroyed it almost immediately after purchasing it. Overall the photography and theme is okay, but if you are dealing with curious, active hands, then you need to expect this book to be in the trash within a week - unless you insist on always handling it yourself.

The elmo's world books are cute but they have flaps on every page that my kids tore off in two seconds. This is a book you can't leave them to enjoy on their own if you don't want it destroyed. I would not recommend this book for that reason.

Abby and I are Duck and Goose fans and this one is another hit. We are eagerly awaiting Duck and Goose's next adventure.

Love this book as do my kids. Boys love diggers, but my daughter loves this book too. Simple to understand and the big brother wants to teach his little brother to be a Digger Man too! I gave this as a gift in conjunction with a "digger" toy and everytime my son plays with it, he also wants to read this book.

My 2 year old son is fascinated with this book. He finishes the sentences on each page as we read it to him. It was one of his first non-board books. We place it on a shelf along with other "fragile" books and the "place of honor" makes it seem extra special to him - so he is very careful with it.

We got this book at the library and my 3 year old boy loved it nearly to pieces. I am looking into getting one he can keep, or maybe giving the library the new one and having him keep the torn and taped one! He has it memorized and "reads" it over and over to himself and his little sister. This book not only fascinates the little "digger men" that like to read it, but also teaches values such as hard work, good maintenance, productivity, and taking care of little brother. Your own little "digger man" will be sure to love it.

Nice book but NOT for younger toddlers

The design and content of this book is very well-done. However, the problem (a big one) is the construction. The paper used for the pages is quite flimsy. My 18-month old daughter was able to rip the pages with ease due to the cut-out design of the pages.

I would have easily given this a 5-star rating if not for the poor choice in paper. Definitely consider this carefully if buying for younger children.

My son adores this book. He started looking at the colorful pictures/shapes when he was about 1 and his interest in the book has not waned, but only evolved. At some point, he liked the book so much, I bought several of the author's other books (Planting a Rainbow, Fish Eyes, Color Farm, etc.) and he was on a Lois Ehlert kick for a while where he'd only want to read and flip through her colorful and innovative illustrations. This book is ingenious in the way the author uses cut-outs to form shapes of different animals and then builds upon those primary shapes (starts out with circles, square, triangle) by using more complex shapes (hexagon, rectangle, etc.) to form images of other animals, while reinforcing the shapes used to form the animal image from the previous page.

I highly recommend this book and this author...also get "Planting a Rainbow."

I bought this book to help my students stay focused on one subject at a time. I always have students who can write pages of run-on sentences, but can't write a paragraph. This book provides a nice way to learn about topic sentences and supporting details. It also has a lot of writing forms that give students hints about what to write (e.g., describe how the food tastes). This book has given my class a common language that's helped writing across the curricula. I do wish that it provided more lines for each writing form, but it's easy enough to give them extra paper. My girls love this book, they want to read it over and over again every day, this is their favorite book, they are always fighting over it. They acually learned thier colors from this book, and now know almost all the colors, they run around saying the colors of all the items in the room. Also this book is great for word skills, at first I would ask them where something was, after a while they would point sat an etem and told me everything that was in the book.

I like this book. For primary and other main colours it has several objects of the same colour on each page. I think colours like gold and silver, multi-colour and black and white could have been left out. It is hard for a child/ toddler to learn black and white when the examples have both colours in the object and on the same page. I like it because my daughter will be able to learn the basic colours, which is why I bought it.

Exciting, amazing, impressive, these are just a few words that describe the works of DK Publishing. This work is on par with the pinnacles of the Romantic era, sure to become a modern classic in scope and style. The characters are likable, but each embodies subtle flaws that make them the subject of realistic empathy.

But seriously, it's got bright colors and it's nice to look at. The color examples are better than a lot of color books.
