Baby Preschool Books

When my husband first brought this book home 6 years ago, I thought, this is a silly book that will hold my baby's attention for 2 seconds. I now have three children and like the previous 2, he loves it. The bold colors on each page, accompanied by a babies expressions are just something that I cannot explain. Kids just love to look at other kids and their expressions. The words, yucky, yum-yum, stinky, boo-hoo, yippee, and hurray, are common words that kids hear and maybe that's why they are so enchanted with it. Every time that I get the book out for the "new" baby my other kids are caught looking through it often. This has been a great purchase for our family.

My daughter (7 months) loves this book! It's a great way to teach her the parts of the face as well as different emotions. I make up stories to go with the faces sometimes.

This is my 9-month-old daughter's favorite book! I'm not sure if it's the expressions on the baby's faces, or the way I vocalize the captions, but she laughs each time I read it. It's a short book, but that's great at this age. We also have the DK publishing "Baby Faces" book and she is much less interested in that one. I disagree with previous reviewers who say that the pictures do not match the words-- they seem to be pretty close to me. Also, the complaint that the photos of Black babies are paired with negative words seems silly-- besides "Yucky!" the other photo is "Uh-oh!" which is an expression most kids find funny, I think. The other "negative" words ( "Stinky" and "Boo Hoo") are paired with 2 photos of White kids. (And FYI, the lone Asian baby is paired with "Yum Yum.")

Bought this book for grandson and he loves it! Now passed on to his brother.

I bought this book because it was recommended as a good book for babies to look at other baby's faces. I was not happy with it because it most of the descriptions of the various baby faces are negative, like "stinky" "uh-oh" etc. I had a hard time explaining to my 3 y.o. daughter why each of the babies was unhappy and my 3 month old son didn't give a darn about the faces. I'll be passing this book along quickly.

My toddler loves this book. She likes to feel the different textures and she loves looking for George. She wants me to read it to her over and over.

My grandson was 14 months when I gave him this book while on vacation. The touch and feel feature was great for him. He "oohed and ahhhed" when he rubbed his fingers over the animals. It's a very sturdy book and although he probably didn't grasp all that I was reading to him, he thoroughly enjoyed the book and had me read it over and over to him. I would recommend it to anyone with small children.

Great interactive book with colorful pictures and lots of good touch and feel. My son loves it.

I had this tape when I was little and loved it and I just bought it for my baby. We love listening to it.

I grew up with the Wee Sing series, and had fond memories of the songs, many I still hum to myself today. Its great, simple music, and I really wanted to share it with my daughter, who is currently 22 months old. I was thrilled to find the Wee Sing series on CD (extra cool because if we want to sing a particular song or repeat a song its much easier to do then with cassette). If you only want to purchase one Wee Sing, this is the CD to have, just because they have many of the best songs from the Wee Sing collections. The arrangements have been updated, however, so they don't sound exactly the same as they were before. There are a few songs here and there that I wish were kept in the original format. That being said after hearing it for more than a few times now (my daughter really likes it and we play it almost everyday) the changes are growing on me. The songs bring back great memories.

I am a teacher of preschoolers and I love these songs - all the Wee Sings are such a treat. Great mixture of music and alot of songs on one CD.

Sandra has done it again! We also own her christmas multi story book. This one is really neat because all of the different dinosaur characters come together in the last page/story in the book. Great book for the dinosaur-lover. If you know Sandra, you know you'll love this book!

This is a cute way for toddlers and preschoolers to learn a little bit about different types of dinosaurs. It presents each type of dinosaur as having a different mood. We think it's really cute! We love Sandra Boynton books!!!

Cute little book, just what little fingers need to explore the colorful world of dinosaurs. FUN for the adult reading, and fun for the toddler listening and joining along.

This book has been a favorite in our house for many years. Both my Son and Daughter love it. We read it so many times that we wore out the book, it was falling apart.

My daughter who is 17 months old. She asked me about piggies all times. I suggest the children who interest in piggies. It is good book for young toddlers.

As always, Audrey Wood comes through with an awesome children's book. Piggies is no exception - the illustrations are enchanting!

Do wonderful stuff together! This is a family favorite. We love to just look at the pictures to see what all the piggies are doing. The story is simple and sweet!

When our children were under 5, Piggies was an all time favorite. I must admit that despite reading after reading at bedtime... those Piggies still put a smile on my face. This book is absolutely delightful and funny. Every page has an illustration that is worth taking a few minutes to appreciate the humorous details of those Piggies.

My wife and I now give Piggies as a gift to the parents of younger kids. Our children are now teens and they still laugh about this book. It is truly one of those books for all ages.

My children love this story. Every time I look at the fabulous illustrations, I always find something new to marvel at - & the children do, too (6 and 3). It's fun making up voices to go with the storyline - gets great giggles - especially at the end, when I get to tickle them.

My 2 grand daughters, ages 2 & 3 1/2 loved it. I sent it directly to them so I have not seen it.

These books are very short, very repetitive, very predictable, very simple.

Great early readers.

They could also be great for toddlers and babies, who use that repetition to learn to speak, but they're written so simply that you'll be bored to tears after reading the book more than three times. And you can read these books several times in one sitting, they're that short.

Give them to your kid when they start reading and insist that THEY read the books - not you. Do not fall into the trap of reading them. Ever. If your kid is like the ones I know, they'll fall in love and you'll be trapped.

Incidentally, in this book, the endpapers show a baby bottle. No baby feeding is shown in the book itself, but if you're an avid lactivist, you may want to check the book out before buying it.

Great books for preschoolers. Short and sweet with cute drawings. Biscuit is mischievous but kind, and his curiosity about the baby surely resonates with many new big sisters and brothers.

There is a new baby in the house and Biscuit wants to meet it. But babies need a lot of attention and that means the baby is not always available to be met. But eventually Biscuit gets his chance.

Told in the same style as most of the other Biscuit books, this one has more of the repetition of the original than many of the others. The art is completely adorable as always and fans of these books will not be disappointed.

This is great for introducing the use of the toothbrush to a toddler. It has not solved the problem of sucking the toothpaste down the throat or chewing on the toothbrush. However, it has made the process a bit more enjoyable. I think my son thought I was trying to torture him. The book is very informative and the pop up scenes make it fun for little ones. Of course, you can't beat the lovable Elmo to make brushing your teeth a fun proposition.

This book has so many fun features in it: put the right amount of tooth paste on the tooth brush, brush through teeth in different ways, rinse, and count teeth. It also provides movable and slidable tooth brush for kids to practice with. I think this one is even better than "Brush Your Teeth Please Pop-Up!" Over all, a great book(surprisingly)!

We bought this book for our 2-year-old daughter. She loves it. It is good and simple and help them to understand the basics of brushing.

My niece loves the fact that she can turn the pages in this hardboard book and it is fun to read.

My daughter's teacher recommended this series of books for my 6 year old. She really enjoys them and they are a great series for early readers. She found this book particularly funny.

Good basic vocabulary rhyming text for reading to now and alone later. Nice nod to "Baa, baa, blacksheep..." with the three bags of wool for the ball.

Someones birthday is coming. They are shopping for the big day. They are looking for a birthday present. They found blocks. They buy a ball. They tried to get the ball. It fell. They got the presents and wrapped the presents. The sheep got the money. They got the presents. They cut their hair. They gave their hair to the guy in the store. They went to the birthday party and they had fun. This was a pretty good book.

This is another delightful book and is a part of a delightful series. The author and illustrator obviously work so well together. This time, as the title would indicate, our little herd of sheep visit a shop. They find they have not money, but unlike sheep (and so many people, when to think about it) come up with a very unique way around the problem. The rhyming text is as good as it gets and goes perfectly with the charming illustrations. The kids all seem to love this one and I must admit to enjoying it as much as they do when reading it to them. The only problem I have is that some of the rhyming lines stick in my head like a broken record, which, in a way, is sort of nice. recommend this one highly.
