My 2 & 1/2 year old daughter loves this thing! It's a cross between a pacifier and security blanket for her. She sucks on the tags which is a little gross but we have 2 of these books and wash & rotate them constantly. She sleeps with her taggies book, and if we are going on a long car ride we let her take the book and she is out like a light in 5 minutes! I would recommend these books to any infant or toddler!

I thought this would be a great book but was disapointed. The tags don't have any texture on them so my sone doesn't really care about it.

When my son first got the book, he was absolutely fascinated with the tags. He also loves to feel the velvety pictures. And it's also one of the first books I began reading to him.

This is a wonderful book that my nine-month-old has enjoyed since we received it as a gift when he was 2 months old. I don't understand the other reviews that say "it isn't much of a story". "Sweet Dreams", as the title implies, is a bedtime book. And it is perfect for that. Short, simple, engaging but not exciting, it is oh-so-soft and very comforting. My son loves it. He touches each animal ("kitty", "bunny", & "puppy") as we read, and I even stroke his face with the book once at the end as a final soother. It is the second of the two books we read at bedtime, the first being Baby Animals, which is a more active "Tough & Feel" book, but a good transition from active to night-night. I highly recommend Sweet Dreams for anyone looking for a comforting quiet book for bedtime reading with their baby. At nine-months, he seems far from outgrowing it; we will enjoy this book for some time to come.

An update at 13 months: still a wonderful way to go to bed. He can be teething or excited or anything other than sleepy. But when we start this book, he settles right down and gets snuggly and sleepy. After all, kitty, bunny and puppy are asleep in their beds, so it must be a good idea!

My six-month-old loves her Taggies Book. (She received it when she was four months old.) Now, she likes to hold it and rub the tags. It is perfect size to lay across her lap while she is in her car seat. Very nice.

I like this book, but having bought it for our 2 year old, I think it's more geared toward younger babies. But, a book is a book, and can be enjoyed for many years to come. Karen Katz is excellent in the books she writes for little ones. Her books are bright, well presented, and fun to read/look at. This board book is also very strong and durable, and will probably withstand lots of drool and bite-marks!

I bought this board book for my granddaughter. The pages are sturdy and the drawings are cute. Simple drawings - simple language for a child.
Not the most fascinating book I've seen for a small child, but it's a good starter book.

My husband and I both love reading this sweet book to our 6-month-old son. It shows different ways a dad shows his love for a baby of indeterminate gender ("finger hugs," "make it better" hugs, etc.)

As with all Karen Katz's books, the illustrations are darling. (The baby and the kitty are especially cute!) It's also very colorful and seems to really hold our son's attention.

I don't feel this workbook does the best job of helping children understand sentence structure. The child work from the same picture for 3 days progressively building more of the sentence themselves each day. It is ok practice but if I used the whole book it would be quite redundant. This book is not a bad purchase but not quite what I was hoping for. What it does do is give more handwriting practice without actual copy work which is good.

I had been searching for a good program that would grab the attention of my son. He is reluctant to write and feels he can't draw worth a darn. So, I got this. He loves it. He asks to work in it and has actaully been drawing the little pictures all over everything. I have him do the excercises and then draw the picture/sentence/word again in his writing journal. He loves it.

I just love reading this book to my grand child. It is a great introduction to unconditional love. This book should be on every bookshelf! All of us have times when we wonder if we are loved. It would do us well to remind children, starting at a very young age, just how special they are to us. I Love You Stinky Face

I ordered Elmo's Animal Adventures as a birthday gift for my one year old grandson, Benjamin. We already had Elmo Loves You and I thought this would be a good addition to our collection. It is very easy for him to turn the pages and he has just started saying Mo-Mo for Elmo so it is helping his vocabulary as well. His three year old brother, Gavin, also loves this book.

Review Date: 2008-07-25
We got this book for my 2 1/2 year old son when we were moving cross country and needed lots of items to keep his little hands busy. He loves lift-the-flap-books and Dora, so this seemed like an ideal book. He did enjoy it, but it didn't keep him busy for too long because there is only 1 large flap to look under per 2 pages open. I suppose it's my fault for not taking a sneak peek at the book before purchasing, but it wasn't the end of the world anyway. Overall, if your child loves Dora, it's a good purchase.

I am a speech therapist and my 3 year old girls love this book. My only complaint is that it's not as sturdy as some of the lift the flap books; I don't expect it will last quite as long. (My therapy books get tons of use.) That said, it might be OK for use by a single child.

Review Date: 2007-08-23
I think this title is the best of the recent lift-the-flap Dora books (see my reviews for Good Night, Dora and Let's Play Sports). This one has Dora searching for Boots. It's interactive as the reader looks for things that are red (under the flaps) in an effort to find Boots. This one even includes Swiper, who's up to his tricks a little. I agree with another reviewer that I don't think these books would be appreciated much past 5 years old or so. My son is 4, and I think he's just the right age to read/play along. Also, these flaps won't hold up to a child who still likes to rip at book pages.

Cards are very nice, ideas for presenting a word - object to a child are very good also, but I was little disappointed with images - some images are really just artistic representation of an object - it is difficult for little child to recognize real object or an animal.

Not as good as other cards in the series

Review Date: 2008-02-13
These cards display stuffed animals instead of real animals. They are usually the same animals featured in the different videos. Some of the animals aren't recognizable to a young child, so they aren't very useful. There are some useful cards, like the pictures of some fruits and vegetables. However, these cards are overall very disappointing. Instead of real instruments, they feature play horns that, again, are likely featured in the videos. The Animal Discovery and Nature Discovery Cards are much much better.

Don't buy these!!! Buy "My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words" by DK publishing instead!!!

As many other reviewers mention, the images on these cards are terrible! For example, the image of what is supposed to be a bear--- is actually a plastic bear figurine playing a violin!!! Is that what we want to teach our young children??? A bear is natural, big, living creature....and I have never seen one play a violin! The same goes for the image of the duck, frog, fish, etc... they are all images of ugly plastic toys! These cards are poorly done.

As a homeschooling mom (myself raised by teachers) I was very disturbed by the BE Language Discovery Cards I bought for my 1 yr. old. But first I'll mention the positives: the cards have large letters and colorful pictures. On the back are teaching tips, and the word from the front of the card is written in 6 other languages with pronunciation provided. I almost gave 2 stars just for this aspect. Now for the bad: I was disgusted that many of the pictures that are supposed to represent words are stuffed animals, abstract toys, and other confusing items that just don't represent the word well. Examples: the word CAT has a picture of a shiny, slick plastic cat figurine while the tip on the back says, "cats have soft fur". The word STAR has a picture of something like a teething toy with round corners - it barely looks like a star. The word BEAR is represented by a ceramic statuette of a bear wearing a suit and playing a violin. The teaching tips say, "This bear is playing a violin" and also, "Bears live in the woods". Hmmm... since they think I need tips on teaching my baby, it would help if they would explain how bears who live in the woods can obtain suits and violin lessons. Don't plan to raise a scholar on these cards unless you plan to do a lot of un-teaching

This is a fabulous little board book. Oftentimes, the language in board books is very simplistic. Not here. With wonderful rhymes and beautiful literary devices, this book is a joy for both children and their parents. My favorite page begins: "A whiff of apples and cinnamon toast, air that is corduroy-cold..." What wonderful sensory images! My three-year-old son loves this book, and even my nine-month-old daughter stares at each page as we read it. This one is definitely a fall favorite of ours.

This is a sweet book for all ages. The way that the book is written is absolute poetry. I have read this book to our twins since they were about 3 months old. They love the colors and the story of a cute puppy who takes a walk in the autumn air. It brings up so many different possibilities for discussion to expand children's ideas of autumn in a fun way. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Even adults will enjoy the creative descriptions. It will take you back to Thanksgiving at Grandma's house!

I liked this book as a general overall practice for the 4th grade SAT. As a homeschool mom , I need to know what exactly will be on the test so I can help my daughter learn what is expected. This covers all the main subjects and has tests on each subtopic (i.e., science has tests on earth science, solar system, electricity, etc.). It does this for each subject. It also gives test taking tips in each area. This only thing that I would improve is to make the tests more substantial. Each subtopic is only 10 questions. This is a good start but 30 or 40 questions would be awesome.
