This book is Great! Great! Great! I got it for my partner because I it was something she wanted to do.When I found out that Denise went to CCA (California Culinary Academy)in San Francisco like my partner I new that this book would be great for her. When I told her about it she got so excited that she couldn't wait so we had to go buy it at the bookstore. So far this book has great information. From averages on getting a business license to the supply's you should have to start of. I covers all the little things that you might not even think of when your starting a catering business for the first time. Denise if you your reading this Priscilla and Natalie will definitely be at your seminar in LA next year :)

I read a lot (and I mean a lot, as I have thousands of books in my library), but this is one of the very few business books I've been truly inspired and uplifted by. When I say "the only book you need to succeed in catering" it's not only a cliche, I believe it's really true! In her writing, the author strikes the fine balance between telling you the 'real deal' and hardships of starting your own business, while managing to keep you motivated and telling you about all the positive that can come out of your efforts as well. It is extremely detailed, honest, passionate, and credible. This has truly been a fantastic help to me while I'm planning to launch my own catering business next year. Brava!!!

Although the concept of this book is appealing, it is ILLEGAL by health department standards to cater from any home kitchen UNLESS it is fully licensed and certified as a commercial kitchen. Hopefully, this author is not giving permission to folks to attempt to cook and deliver food from home kitchens, which is completely against health department rules.

If you are completely new to Adobe Illustrator, I wouldn't get this. Take a basic class at a community college. But if you've used Illustrator in the past this is a great introduction to what's really new in the latest version and it revisits stuff from before but you probably forgot cause you didn't know what to do with it. Very practical and exciting. I read it in two days. Not required but it does get you pretty excited about using Illustrator CS3. Now...if only there was an expensive magazine from the UK that specializes in this program....(there ain't).

After enjoying his first book, Term Sheets and Valuations, I was looking forward to this one. I regret to say that I found it a big waste of time and a bigger waste of money.
It appears as if the marketing of the book by the pblisher sought to take advantage of his first book by raising the price by 500%, giving the impression that this book was better or more comprehensive. However, nothing could be further from the truth.

This author definitely knows his stuff - but even better is author's new product called Negotiating Term Sheets and Valuations in Venture Capital Deals (ISBN 1597010987). It is a 100 minute DVD that has a lot of different material in it that is critical for doing venture capital deals. It also covers specific negotiation strategies and roles and motivations for each key deal participant - which is not covered in this book or the authors other book (Term Sheets & Valuations).

'Deal Terms' is a solid reference for entrepreneurs with 'need-to-read' (as opposed to 'nice-to-read') information regarding venture financing deals. I find Wilmerding's interviews with various relevant players (e.g. legal counsellor, venture capitalist, entrepreneur) to be a good differentiator of the book; the quick analysis of actual term sheet is also pragmatic. The 'Valuation' section is relatively generic & is the weaker part of the book.
Helpful, practical, and brilliant!

A Quick Guide to Venture Capital Thinking

This book, one claimed by the publisher to fall into the need-to-read category rather than the nice-to-read, is aimed at giving the businessman the information he needs to know to be able to hold an intelligent conversation with a venture capitalist.
It's a pretty quick and easy read, but the businessman who has gotten his business up to the stage where outside money is needed is probably not a financial type but an engineer, or scientist or perhaps just plain businessman. This book, written from the venture capitalist standpoint, will explain to him such things as how to value a company, verious types of stock, dilution of the ownership, in short, all of the things that will need to be understood when a big time financial deal goes down.
It's not an in depth book, each of these subjects can and has several books describing them 'in depth.' Instead it is a small book that gives you what you need to know quickly.

I recently used this book for a class in college and loved it. The way it takes you through the programs step by step, then takes you through while you actually do it is great. It also gives a wealth of information about terminology and has some nice review questions at the end of the chapters. It covers a lot of ground wihtout actually bogging you down with a ton of work.

I just changed my major to psychology at the end of last spring. My program requires a Career Planning course for psychology, this is my first semester of junior year. The course partnered with this book was a nice intervention. This is not a huge book, one could probably read it in one sitting. There is a lot of useful information about fields in psychology, graduate admissions, and multiple chapters on areas of undergraduate involvement that will make for a competitive student applying to grad school or for getting the most out of your undergrad experience in general. I liked the chapter on APA format, it is laid out very nicely. I have been raised in MLA format since frashman year in highschool, so has not been the easiest transition. I hear a lot of "students need to be doing x, y, z" to get into grad school, this book puts these things in perspective. I have followed a lot of the advice given in this book, like becoming involved with research, and I am getting more out of my classes and achieving better grades.

I expected this book to be an overview of the international affairs field, but it proved to be much more. The careers and paths available are well-written and -described, and there are a number of careers that, although not obvious, suit people with an interest in international affairs well. In addition, companies, government organizations, and NGO's that employ people in international affairs are listed along with contact information. It's a well-rounded book that is honest about both the upsides and downsides of each career.

I found all the answers about the different jobs available in a career in International Relations. What's great is that I not only got descriptions of the different jobs, but I also got listings of all the companies involved. Now when I graduate with my master's, I am going straight to this book for the companies I wish to send my resume to. Great read and reference!

I bought this book to explore the different options i had as far as careers in IR are concerned. Granted this isnt neccessarily for people who are looking for jobs that include international travel (though a good amount of these jobs do) but only those who seek careers (most of them business or gov related) with int'l dimensions. That being said it was an excellent place to start and had a lot of good ideas. It also has a good amount of contact information about places and tips on getting the job once you've found it. I found the book to be exactly what I was looking for, a great tool for looking at all my options without being too broad.
