This book's focus is love, forgiveness, taking responsibility for your life, and living in the present rather than hanging onto regret and recrimination. Most spiritual approaches share these beliefs and the book presents little that is new, except its aloha twist. Author Joe Vitale brings in the Hawaiian perspective of his co-author, Ihaleakala Hew Len, a Hawaiian therapist and Ph.D., who advocates the "//ho'oponopono//" method. The authors' emphasis on cleansing and love is a lot like the repentance and love of Christianity, and the emphasis on the universe existing only in your mind has a neo-Buddhist flavor. Skeptics may find that the recommendation to make a batch of special cleansing water pushes their envelope one notch too far. A larger stumbling block is that although many spiritual leaders teach the emptiness of pursuing money and material wealth, this book makes wealth a goal, and suggests that you can receive riches by ridding yourself of blocked memories. To talk of spirituality as the source of record-breaking sales of luxury sedans seems somewhat self-contradictory, but the book is otherwise straight new-age self-help, though// getAbstract// appreciates its Hawaiian flavor.

After finishing this book I felt that I received little from it . . not enough meaningful content. I did feel however like Joe was pitching many other products in this book that he has a financial interest in. Knowning what I know now I wouldn't bother reading this book. This bookt didn't even rate a space on my library shelves.

I like parts of this a lot but didn't rate it well because it has little substance. In the very beginning he admits that this book doesn't teach Ho'oponopono and tells you if you want to learn Ho'oponopono go to one of the weekend workshops.
Things I like:
* Uplifting, he knows how to motivate his target audience.
* Gives the stories of others who have used this method successfully.
* Although the focus of this book is money it also shows that this technique can be utilized for anything and everything.
Things I didn't like:
* It felt like work to get to past the infomercials and self aggrandizement. The majority of people on the tape that told their stories were also plugging their products, I wonder if they had to pay for their spot in this book?
* This LONG book only gives you a brief over view of the idea but it's not even an elementary level primer on Ho'oponopono.
* A HUGE concern is that he admits that this technique made him realize that what he taught in previous books was wrong or obsolete.
He says he felt deep concern and guilt because he has taught the wrong information. This was followed by the explanation that the other books can help people at lower levels of understanding. I totally agree with that but if he ACTUALLY believes this and isn't simply making excuses to continue selling & teaching incorrect information then why does he constantly plug those books in this one.
If we're ready for the information that truly works then why try to interest us in information that he acknowledges is WRONG? This is a red flag.

I am still in the middle of reading this book...but so far I am delighted with its primary message: WE ALL HAVE CONTROL OVER OUR OWN MOODS! This book is filled with exercises, checklists and mood inventories...all designed to offer the reader an interactive role in their own healing.
I have struggled with depression my entire life and because of this book am understanding the concept of healing myself through positive thoughts. I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with depression, regardless of the severity.

I liked this book. It helped me alot. It was easy to understand but you have to write in it ALOT! You should get "The Feeling Good Handbook" by Dr. David Burns as well. Dr. Burns has you to read different chapters of the book to go along with Ten Days. I had to stop reading Ten Days and get the Feeling Good Handbook before I could finish.

10 Days to Self Esteem is a staple in my practice working with clients coping with depression and anxiety. This is the one workbook where clients will consistently complete the exercises and homework. They have shared that the techniques are understandable and they can see their progress. The Cost benefit analysis is the one technique, however, clients /patients find dificult initially; but then catch on. My clients see improvement in themselves once they go through the entire workbook and that the most important. Thanks so much!

The millions to be made are with Infomercials and Home Shopping Network as the book elicits, which are out of reach of most entrepenuers, unless of course you "sell" your idea to Guthy Renker, Dan Kennedy or others for 2% of the profit. Not exactly a path to financial freedom. It is still a decent read to assist you in developing a direction on how to promote your product and discover your marketing avenue of choice. If you are looking for current product and service ideas to make your millions, this is not a book for you. He should do a 2008 version for todays entrepenuers. i.e. He wasn't sure when he wrote the book, if the Internet was a passing fad or not.

Unfortunately I was quite disappointed by this book as its suggestions center largely on outdated methods such as infomercial marketing and other brick-and-mortar concepts. There is very little information on utilizing eCommerce/the Web for making your mark.
This is a shame as eCommerce is often a great way to get things started on your way to riches.
If you are looking to learn about more traditional means of starting a business (read: offline), this book does have some good ideas but nothing you've not heard or read before if you have read any business or marketing books from the past ten years.
I'm surprised this book has received the number of endorsements and accolades it has and I wonder now if those were largely obtained by reciprocal deals with other authors rather than actual merit.

Some people may make the mistake that since Dan Kennedy wrote this book several years ago that the information is dated. Actually the principals are timeless.
6 months ago I created a direct mail campaign to raise money for the Purdue Women's Air Race Team. I followed his exact instructions on page 119 and raised more than enough money needed for the team. Not only did what he say still work, we had people writing in notes saying to leave their names on our mailing list because they loved getting the mail.
I have used Dan's advice for over 15 years. Of all the books he's written, this is my #1 favorite. It has been highlighted, dog-eared, and referred to time and time again.

Flipping the Switch is a great follow up to QBQ. The concept of QBQ is great but to really make it a core value, it takes follow up and understanding on the part of the leaders. This book helps leaders to understand what is needed to make personal accountability a core value. It is a little more to think about than QBQ, but very helpful. It will be part of the whole package of personal accountability for me.

I liked the first book and it really got me thinking of all those IQ's in my life and how to get rid of them. I think I expected the same thing with this book but for whatever reason I came away feeling let down. It just seemed like less substance than the first and more of a fluff of highlights while trying to cling on to book 1. NOT a bad read but not as inspiring as the first.

I think the book is so great that I purchased several copies for my employees to help them see what I saw...personal responsibility starts with ME! This books teaches you how to practically apply "giving" and "serving." It's about ME. I also think our politicians should read this book to learn what REAL personal responsibility is so that they can stop blaming the government for not doing enough.
I'm responsible. It's about me. I change! It's not about them. It's MY life and I can change.

Flipping the switch is a very enjoyable read in which the author John Miller is basically asking the question: Would you rather be part of the problem or the solution? To be part of the solution, all it takes, according to him, is a shift in perspective. Instead of asking "why me?" switch to "what can I do?". It is a simple shift, which takes you from the victim's chair into the driver's seat and allows you to experience satisfaction and transformation in all areas of your life.
In this respect the book reminded me very much of the work of Ariel and Shya Kane Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation , How To Create a Magical Relationship and Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. The Kanes also present the idea that a shift in perspective can transform your life instantaneously and take you from the realm of working on yourself and thinking, to the realm of being yourself and being enlightened. Instantaneous Transformation is accessible when you flip the switch and choose to be present in the moment rather than lost in your thoughts.
I highly recommend both the work of John Miller and Ariel and Shya Kane to anybody looking to live a "bright" life!

In reguards to the comment about this book being too long: First, this book (the original which is the 16 lessons version) was out about 10 yrs before "think and grow rich". Second, and more importantly, the depth of this book is essential to living life the way you want to live it. Not just because you want a few good ideas in your head for a couple days only to be forgotten a month later.
For example, what lasts longer: a puddle of water, or an ocean? Of course an ocean. A puddle dries up quickly because it has limited substance. On the other hand, an ocean withstands the droughts.
This is a book for the person who is truly dedicated to the next level. A level of true achievement and freedom the "downers" in life. If your just looking for an interesting read, than purchase think and grow rich.

There is no such thing as a perfect book. People tend to see things in black and white, well there's nothing completely black or white; there's only shades of gray. You can get some good advice out of most books, even if a little. But there is no perfect book that presents you a complete and truthful view of the road to success.
Many books appear to be unreasonable in some of its content; but lucky us we are born with a powerful tool that helps us discern between what we should take and leave from a book: common sense. I should use it, and you probably should too.
This book is no exception. Personally, I would suggest that you read the first part of the book with a higher focus than the rest. It is very inspirational, and explain a success principle that, even though very common nowadays in other books, is still of major importance. For someone who hasn't read much of success books, these chapters are a good start.
The metaphysics and new age theories that Napoleon Hill proposes should be taken with a measure of healthy skepticism. To believe in them is a personal choice, and you should use your common sense to decide.
To people that has read many success books before, this book proposes nothing new. Though I should state this around, as this book came first than most of the others. It basically tells how you need to have a burning desire to achieve success, and have faith that you will succeed. Mostly, it presents this with an inspirational tone; so if you're looking to get your spirit up, try it.

It basically tells how you need to have a burning desire to achieve success, and have faith that you will succeed. Mostly, it presents this with an inspirational tone; so if you're looking to get your spirit up, try it.

A classic. Principles of getting rich are mentioned. Even though I didn't get rich, it did help me achieve
another goal.
Topics like Desire, Faith, Autosuggestion and Specialized Knowledge
are all essential to get rich. I do feel something is missing
from this book. Great violinists and pianists can also be
rich but I don't think they have to begin with the first chapter:
Desire (for money). They simply have a temperament, gift,
and passion for music. Because the perform well in their
professions, the money comes in naturally.
This book might have made some people rich but I don't
think it's the only way. To be fair, no reading of any single
book can make you rich. You need to have understanding,
practice, and application of what you've read - together
with other books.
I am not rich yet so I give this classic 3 stars.
Besides, "The mystery of sex transmutation" is no longer a
mystery. The male reproductive system and the brain both
compete for the same protein tyrosine (with B6, copper,
iron etc). More tyrosine for one will deprive the other part
of the body - naturally.

The title of this book is slightly misleading, at least in our age of magical "get rich quick" schemes (like "The Secret"). As Napoleon Hill repeats, you cant get money for nothing. Instead, success depends on actions--but successful actions depend on positive thoughts. Unlike today's short books that say "think about money and you'll get it," Hill spends fourteen chapters spelling out exactly how we can focus our minds on definite goals, convert our deepest desires into actions, succeed, and then--finally!--grow rich.

This book (with light blue cover with trees, and ISBN-10: 1438241585) has somehow gotten mixed up on Amazon with another version of "Think and Grow Rich," namely the one whose full title is "Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised (with a dark red, royal blue, gold cover and ISBN-10: 1593302002, published by Aventine Press). The 126 or so "reader reviews" that appear with THIS book (light blue cover) have somehow been "lifted" from the Amazon page for the other book (published by Aventine)! For one thing, this light-blue cover book is only 244 pages. The other book (ISBN-10:1593302002) has 412 pages - and many valuable features that this light-blue book does not contain!
If you are looking for the 412-page book with the full title "Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised," you must do a search for that exact title or for ISBN-10:1593302002.

Nice girls dont get the corner office is a big corner of negativity. If you want to feel aweful just give this CD a listen. Lois Frankel put me to sleep. She sounds like the the unseen teacher in the charlie brown series. "Mistake number 6854984742 dont pick your nose the board room...wah wah wah." Terrible. Dont waste your money. Try Tom Hopkins advanced sales survival training CD#2 hilarious, uplifting and helpful to all.

I hadn't realized just how many things I was doing on a daily basis that were keeping me from acheiving my full potential at work. Some things in this book applied to me, others did not, but I have learned what I have been doing that is holding me back from moving forward at work and am working on changing those bad habits. A MUST READ for every professional woman.

As a father of two toddler daughters, I read Dr. Frankel's book to open my mind to ways I could avoid instilling in them unhelpful behaviors. I found a well thought out list of workable suggestions focussed mostly on a few central topics - better communication and ways to play "the game" without merely adopting behaviors typical to men. This book does not make judgments about how the business world operates mainly according to historically male behavior. Rather, it focuses on how to work within this world without changing who you are.
Some of the suggestions were definitely simplistic ("have a firm handshake") while others were more involved (defining your "personal brand" and promoting it to others). Mostly they were common sense business tactics and strategies for self marketing that one could find in countless business self-help books. Indeed, I found several helpful suggestions that I felt were applicable to myself. Overall, much of the advice could have been pulled from a bigger picture course for men and women on how to interact more effectively in the workplace.
In Dr. Frankel's book this information is obviously presented from a woman's perspective. She states in the first pages of the book that not all points will apply to any one person, that the way to use the book is to select those behaviors that are the biggest hindrances to the reader's advancement and then follow her advice to change those behaviors. She makes an attempt not to suggest women act like men, but rather "quit bein' a girl".
The tone can sometimes feel condescending which will be off-putting to some readers, but if one looks past this there is a range of good advice covering many topics. Dr. Frankel's frequent use of anecdotes from her consulting career serves to make the book readable without feeling like a textbook or list of action items.
I believe many women would find this book helpful in identifying and modifying behavior that is giving others the wrong impression of who they are or even masking their true capabilities. Men, too, can find new ways to understand women's behavior and hopefully achieve greater communication through that understanding. As a father I feel more aware of some things to focus on or avoid as I raise my daughters. This book will not feel useful to everyone, but for those who approach it with an open mind it can provide new insight into business relationships between the sexes.

I use this book all the time in my life leadership coaching with women whether they work in corporations or they're entrepreneurs because for women to succeed anywhere they have to grow to overcome their own self-limiting behaviors and beliefs.
What I love about this book is how clearly the 101 mistakes are organized under 7 broad areas. I am not big on quizzes because they often stop at only giving information. That is not the case here. Instead the author has created a quiz that very easily identifies and ranks an individual woman's 7 areas from strong to weak. Then once a woman identifies the two or three areas she's weakest she can read the chapters and further focus in on which of the mistakes she makes. The coaching tips and simple exercises at the end of each mistake support practice and self-improvement.
Every time I've used this quiz with clients they have benefited from the clarity and direction. This is one of the best thought out and useful books for self-employed women, managers and executives I have ever seen or used. To step up as leaders of their lives women must get to know and change self-defeating behaviors. Nice Girls can help get them started.

Every woman should read this book. The assessment gives you a starting point and you won't need to read every page...just those that apply. Everything else is a bonus. I swear! The material will enlighten you and stick with you years after you've read it. Practice will make it stick. I've given this book as gifts. Even if you are not ready to apply yourself to practice, just recognizing how you are perceived is worth it. Buy this book and read it today! It's not about becoming an overachieving "B" and man hater; it's about learning to play the game.

This workbook describes in a very simple and comprehensive way exactly what self-esteem is, and breaks down the otherwise erroneous cemented beliefs we've had of what it means to have and to build self-esteem. The writers are clever and humorous while they walk the reader through a process of enlightenment using a no nonsense approach to each chapter. I've really enjoyed this workbook. It has definitely helped to change my thinking and helped me grow.

I LOVE this book. I'm only on chapter 4 and am amazed at the things I have learned. This book really makes you think and understand things and change without realizing it. This book helps you to undertand the way you should feel about yourself, it identifies right and wrong thinking about yourself and it helps you to see who you are inside. Which is a good thing! I've always either been terrified to really look at myself or I've just known i wasn't worth anything. Now I'm in the process of rethinking this and knowing better. This workbook is a must own for anyone who doesn't KNOW that their self worth is equal to everyone around them and KNOW who they are and what makes them who they are.
Well done!

Self-esteem is often talked about in therapy offices and schools, but I find many of my clients have difficulty grasping what it is exactly. This book untangles the mystery through self quizzes, exercises, and very readable, understandable information. I use it with adults and teens who seem to benefit immensely. Worth having on your self-help or therapy book shelf!

Honestly, I just can't get into this book. I am having a hard time getting past the first few pages. I personally think it is the set up of the pages to be blunt. I have read some good stuff as I have skimmed through the book and read eye-catching sections, but for me to sit down and read this book and highlight the good stuff and take notes--- yea, well it is just not happening with this one.
Information wise, what I am reading is good- This couple certainly hits both sides - the misconceptions and well as the reality of the network marketing world.
One thing I do like is the summary at the end of each chapter (one reason is becaus eit is a different font and page set so it is easier to follow) but mainly because it really does highlight the good parts of the chapter.

Anyone thinking about, just got started or who happens to be thinking about getting started in this awesome industry, needs to invest in themselves and read this book. Why make the same mistakes when these 20 year veterans have already done so. All we have to do is be good students and learn from them. People make this business out to be something it's not. True we have been conditioned to have a boss and sit behind a desk but it doesn't have to be that way. The Yarnells can show you how to take back your life and be glad you did. There is no second chance.
