I did not know what to expect when I ordered this book, but it has been extremely helpful in that it gives great examples and is easy to read. I am grateful to have found this book. The structure it presents is excellent. Thanks

This book explores the purposes of teaching in the church, and offers specific advice on how to recruit, train, and support volunteer teachers. These twenty stimulating, thirty-minute workshops show how to train volunteer teachers in a way that will dramatically increase the effectiveness of a Christian education program. After exploring the purposes of teaching children, youth, and adults in the church, the author offers specific advice on how to recruite, train, and support volunteer teachers. Sunday school superintendents and education chairpersons will find this information invaluable as they recruit teachers, affirm them in their ministries, and plan training events. Workshops offered in the book include: planning a session; keys to motivating students of all age groups; developing Bible skills in all age groups; storytelling in the classroom; creativity for you and your student; worship in the classroom; teaching prayer in the classroom; caring for students; teaching with questions and discussion; music in the classroom; and developing a learning center. Each workshop outline shows you which materials you will need for the workshop. One or more handouts for use in the training event are included. The book also features a bibliography of additional materials to enhance the workshops.

A sound and usable theory

My students thought this book a bit 'dry.' Perhaps it is because the author and context are British. However, while I have read many books on teaching with or without technology, I have never read a book quite like this one. Logically and eloquently it built from assumptions about the nature of academic knowledge/learning to a model of teaching to support those assumptions to a framework for the use of technology to support the model of teaching. An all round gem of a book!

Great book

This book gave lots of great practice tests to help prepare me for the Praxis 1. I took the test and passed on the first try...I honestly think that going through these practice tests helped refresh my memory from the things that I learned in high school that were on this test.

This Book is BAD!!!

I got this book after my sister has taken the PPST test. I thought it will help me to do well on mine. I should have known better to get other books. Considering that not only my sister did not pass her PPST exam, I totally fell that this book did not help me perpare my exam. If you want to pass the PPST, I suggest you to get another book.

DON'T CHOOSE THIS ONE

This book wasn't a good book to study from. NONE of the math material I learned in this book was reflected on the exam. The practice tests were a little difficult and they gave you explanations to answers, but the test did not reflect what I learned in this book.

Good For Reading and Writing, but Math very hard

This book does an excellent job of reviewing the important concepts associated with the writing and reading portions of the Praxis. However, I felt the math review did not accurately reflect the questions presented on the test. I scored very high on the reading and writing portions of the Praxis. This book could be a valuable study aid if its combined with another Praxis study guide that closely represents the actual math questions on the Praxis Test.

Extreemly Disapointed

I purchased this book at the advice of a bookstore represenative. I literally stressed myself with this book to the point that I caused myself to have an anxiety attack. I just took the praxis on Sat. Nov. 15th and the test was absolutely nonething like what you have in this book. I would not recomend this book to anyone try the cliffnotes version it's much more realistic. This Book was 100 times harder than the actual test.

I wanted a book to share with a new-to-Kindergarten teacher I am supervising. I think this will be a useful tool for her. Thorough and a nice basic book with useful examples and understandable explanations. References to research in the text are also helpful, especially for use with other staff members. I'm looking forward to sharing this one.
