While I would agree that this book is of very high value, it seems to me that a lot of great topics were glossed over and didn't reach the depth of insight that I have come to know and love from Paramahansa Yogananda. My opinion is a bit biased, as I own and am currently reading his most elegant tome: "The Second Coming of Christ," which is quite detailed and has an abundance of depth to it. "The Yoga of Jesus" is of course a watered down version of "Second Coming" and is certainly well worth the time if you want a quick study, that is; "How Sri Yogananda Interprets Jesus - 101" kind of thing. It will definitely get you thinking, with quite a few "ah-ha!" moments. I strongly recommend you read "The Yoga of Jesus" before "Second Coming." A 4 star recommendation today!

there has been so much discussion in recent years on what Jesus really said and did, and even whether He really existed.
Paramahansa Yoganandas commentary sampler "The Yoga Of Jesus," from Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA really clarifies a lot in these matters.
This volume serves as a handy and welcomed introduction to the Masters larger and acclaimed work "the Second Coming of Christ;Resurrection the Christ Within You" from the same publisher in 2004.
This work will most likely answer in the most direct and inspiring way all the questions you had about Jesus life and teachings. It is truly inspiring and eye opening.
For those who need deprogramming [those still attached to the status quo] this volume will be a very effective starting point to renewed understanding of one of the worlds great prophets/gurus.
It will renew and advance your faith in the real Christ!

Great book written by a great man. It has renewed my perspective on Christ (original perspective was that of a Catholic who received First Communion in a French church in Rabbat Morocco, and later attended Catechism in Southern Spain as child). The author, Yogananda, really taps into the beauty and truths that I always suspected were the things that all religions had in common.

As an avid reader of Gnostic teachings, I found The Yoga of Jesus to be a breath of fresh air in understanding some of the deeper meanings found in the gospels that have been all but forgotten in modern interpretations. This is book is for all those looking for information to take them beyond believing to knowing, which is the literal meaning of the word "gnosis."

The Yoga of Jesus from P. Yoganada is a must read book, specially for all the Christians of our time. It's a transforming reading, in which the teachings of Jesus are explained, from the message of the Gospels. I understood more the teachings of Jesus after 30 years of being Christian. I recommend this book to everyone.

Ron Clark is everything a teacher today needs to be, and more!!! Choosing to take the more difficult path and work in a tough, urban district he made magic happen with his students. My favorite part about Clark and this book is that it reminds us teachers that there are three components to learning: knowledge, skills, and values. Too often teachers become overwhelmed with preparing their students for the state exams at the end of the year that they forget the key ingredient of classroom success - good citizenship. As teachers, it is not our job to simply fill our students' minds with as much information as possible. It is our job to prepare them for the next stage of life, both academically and emotionally.

This book is an excellent resource for those who want to assist children and young adults with social skills training. There are clear cut lessons and activities that cover a variety of topics from how to greet others to asking someone on a date. Very valuable for those who need concrete examples of the correct way to approach many different social situations. Could be used for children on the autism spectrum, but also for any child who could benefit from practice in social interaction, even those who are shy. Anyone who lives and works with students who have social skills defecits would find this book useful.

I found this book very useful. It lists skills a child should have, which are so inherent to those who don't have this probelm, they are actually hard to think of on your own. For each skill it gives examples and ways to encourage gaining the skill. Every parent whose child's social skills aren't up to par with their peers will benefit from this book.

It is straightforward easy to use, to the point. Definitely worth the money, and was recommended to me by several mothers with more than 2 children with autism. Thanks!

As a first year teacher, I have made it my obligation to get my hands on as many resources as possible to learn my "craft." I am amazed at how much this book has changed my concept of teaching writing. I now understand what it is to "describe" a good piece of work rather than "prescribe" a good piece of work.
When I received this book after having attended a workshop, I did not know what to do with it-how to read it, understand it, but after having a year of experience and assessing my weaknesses (how to teach writing), I now understand.
I thank Katie Wood Ray for sharing herself and her findings with us.

I've taught for 21 years, but I always felt like there must be a better way to teach writing to children. This book tells how. Katie Wood Ray gives specific techniques for teaching structure, ways with words, and teaches you to teach your students to read like writers. For all of this, she uses the most marvelous children's books, most picture books but some young adult novels. I have worked on increasing my library under her direction, and I'm having a ball watching my students learn to love to write.

Katie Wood Ray has made a very readable, very usable book to help teachers teach students to 'read like writers'. I use the ideas when I am reading and reviewing new children's literature and each time I begin writing instruction with my elementary remedial students. Truly shows how to integrate student writing and good children's literature.

No matter what grade you teach you need this book! Katie has an amazing gift as a teacher and a writer which she expresses wonderfully in this book.

Pretty helpful to have for the course. It tends to leave out answers to the simplest questions from the beginning of the problems in each chapter but otherwise is good. For me, I could use a little more step by step answers for some of the solutions but it may may be just fine for others. Overall, I would recommend having this manual for the course.

For a relatively short book this is an extremely comprehensive, practical, and accessible guide to case studies in education. Since reading it for my dissertation, I've referred to it several times for other projects. I've also strongly recommended it in my classes and for students conducting their theses. It gives both the hows and whys of case studies...motivational and informative.

I recommend this book for anyone with zero or nearly zero knowledge about qualitative research and case study. Even though the majority of the examples are for education field, the generic explanation is very clear. The book guided me step by step by giving bit by bit necessary information regarding the topic.
This book is an exhibit of the author's experiences in the topic as well as her mastery of the story-telling flow without trapped in informal way of writing. The author did very well in explaning "new" terms, so that novice reader does not need to struggle to understand the qualitative research and case study research jargon.
However, there are some shallow discussions on some parts, like computer tools for data management. The author, however, provided an array of further reading materials to consult.
My advice is if you confused by any other books or any description about the topic, especially about the jargon, read this book. When you finish this book, and you return to read those other books, your earlier confusion will disappear.

I bought this book hoping that it would help with my introducing class rules to my kindergarteners. I am sooo happy that I bought it. It brings a poster which I laminated and keep near my teaching area. I always refer back to it to remind students how Kevin followed a certain rule. I always ask them if they look like Kevin looks on the poster when they are sitting on the rug. They all want to follow the rules just like Kevin does.
The book is a bit pricey for a paperback but it really is worth the money. This a very good classroom management tool that is well worth the price.

What a great book! Straightfoward while still remaining entertaining and cute, this book makes introducing class rules so much easier. Each year I struggle to invent an effective way to introduce my class rules and make a visual to display. Now the work is done for me!! The illustrations in the poster are identical to the ones in the book, so even your non-readers will be able to "read" the poster that is included with the book for daily rule review. A must have!

I am a School Psychologist working in New Jersey. I was looking for a good way to introduce classroom rules in a manner that would appeal to children. After purchasing a copy of "Kevin Knows the Rules", I shared it with several primary teachers in two elementary schools. Everyone who reviewed the book found it delightful and a very unique way to introduce classroom rules and proceedures. All the teachers involved plan to use it early in the 2008-09 school year as a way of establishing a friendly and orderly classroom. Thans to the author for finally providing an appealing and non-threatening way to establish the social context so important in a primary classroom.

The book shows the reader how to make Social Studies interesting and not cause students to become bored with the subject. This book will also help me in my future classroom!:) The last thing I would want is for a student to become bored with any subject.
