I really enjoyed reading this. It does overlap some of the philosophies stated in his other books, but finds a way to go in different directions too. I liked the way the two styles of writing played out between the two authors. Overall I found it to be very inspiring and I could read it over and over again.

If you're ready to honestly look within yourself and see what's there with open eyes, and if you can put your personal belief system on a shelf and see through Don Miguel Ruiz's eyes for the duration of the read, then you will get something from this book and will appreciate it fully. If you are not ready, you won't learn from the analogies and parables presented in the book. This book has helped me look within and see why I do some of the things I do, and has helped me to let those things go.

This little book has slowed me down and helped me to quiet my mind when encountering stress, then remembering the four agreements helps me put those stressful events in proper perspective.
Excellent way to understand the four agreements even better

If you enjoyed "The Four Agreements", you'll love this book. After reading Don Miguel's book, and even taking a spiritual journal down to Mexico City to do the work in Teo, I picked up this book and that's when it all made sense. This book provides you with a wonderful way to learn even more about the four agreements and to process this work and make it your own.
Absolutely highly recommended!

This "Toltec Guide To Freedom and Joy" is based on teachings by Don Miguel Ruiz. There are many words that are directly from him, and shown as such, but the book is written by Mary Carroll Nelson who has collected and recorded Don Miguel's teachings.
I picked up this book on several different visits to the bookstore trying to decide if I should buy it. I found many spiritual principles that I'd already read and understood from other places, and more that peaked my interest. The idea that this is all an illusion is sometimes difficult to understand even though I can believe it. The teachings about fear and how we are conditioned to it and how to break out of it are the main course of the book.
There's lots of info here that I hadn't come across before. The ideas of hell and the Judge and Victim. The part about how "Everything we do is based on agreements" -and how that limits us. As I read this through the first time, there were some things that were foreign and hard for me to grasp. When I finished the book I almost felt like I'd just finished a sci-fi book. It's not that I don't believe what I read, it's just that some of the ideas are new to me. There are lots of intriguing thoughts and ideas about spirituality, life, death and fear and love expressed here.
Near the beginning of the book, Miguel was in Egypt via trance travel where he found himself in a long hallway underground. There was an old man who served as his teacher who showed him some glyphic figures on a wall and Miguel knew that this man was a Hierophant. Later on, Miguel realized that the images he had seen were illustrations from The Book Of Thoth and what we know as Tarot cards. After studying the cards, he found that none were entirely accurate but that the ones designed by Pamela C. Smith (under direction of AE Waite) are based in love and the ones by Aleister Crowley are based on fear. I found this section and his findings particularly interesting. The author, Mary Carroll Nelson says that "Miguel will write a future interpretation of the Tarot." -I hope he does because I would love to read that.
Overall, this is an interesting book and there is a lot here to absorb and learn from. It's something that I've returned to several times and I think I gain more understanding each time. The information is beneficial and can aid in advancement spiritually, but at the same time, I think one has to be ready to read this. (Due to our present conditioning) Otherwise, it could seem very unreal.

Just thought I'd mention how much I got out of this book and how valuable I feel it can be for the practicing magician.
After searching the bookshelves for well over a year and struggling to find techniques and theory about magick I was finally fortunate enough to come across this book. It totally goes against the grain of most occult literature.
It saved me years of research as the book covers loads of very powerful techniques, explaining formulas and practices in clearly defined lessons.
I wondered what the catch was when I bought it. By that time I was already used to being given the hype (and lots of of bullshit) without any substance.
I found it better than any of the Golden Dawn books at teaching about the Golden Dawn! Not to mention how neatly it explains the Qabalah. It also gives methods and explanations on western paganism, tantra, and some of the more advanced aspects of occultism.
There is so much dross that gets passed off as occult literature with weird Christian undertones (urrgh)......when you find something like this you wonder why certain publishers can't do a better job of producing quality books - surely it's not that hard?
A must-have for anyone beginnig the Magicakal Path

This book fills in the gaps of what other books, manuals and orders leave out. Excellent source of understanding exactly what "Magick" is, what its used for an how-to do it. An excellent first start foundation upon which to build your knowledge base.
Absolutely the best Beginners Book on Ceremonial Magick.

I first read Modern Magick about 20 years ago. I had been studying books by Israel Regardie and Aleister Crowley and was getting nowhere fast. This book is a key that opens up many doors of understanding and will easily take a complete novice to advanced levels of practice with minimal fluff, with heavy emphisis on the practical aspects of Magick.
This book was written by an expierenced magician and all instructions are clearly presented. Working through this book will make just about any other book on the subject of Magick considerably more accessable.
It is my serious belief that this is perhaps the most important book on Magick written in the last fifty years.

If you're new to the concept of Ceremonial magick, this is a good book. HOwever if you're looking for low magick, there's plenty of books out there. The market is actually saturated with low magick 101 books. IT's actually kind of sickening.
So to come across a primer in basic magick without any kind of bla bla bla theology crud behind it like Crowley and the others. Sure he doesn't delve very deep into the reasons for why you use said rituals, ANother fault I have with the modern Pagan Community at large. I don't blame him though as you actually do have to wade through the principles and other guidelines that Crowley ad Reguardie and all of them go into in other books. So this is more like supplimental reading. Especially if you want to pratice magick and not just read about it.

This book is wonderful. Someone with the guts that says our desires that line up with the Word are not our own but God. His book high lights that there are times that we can stop the crucifixion of resurrected man and run with the things of God.
This will build your faith and give you more understanding of our purpose of life and how connected to God we really are. Faith listed in the book is unlike the Word of Faith as we know it but in a revelation that will bring you to a new level.
Get the book and see for yourself. I could not put the book down, this one I will not lend out!

This book is profound in its simplicity, really. There are so many bottom lines, so different from what most churches have settled for today, to keep themselves "safe from the world's contamination." This book is so heavy that I dare say you may need to read it even more than twice because it is weighty.
While the author and I have fundamental differences, there is not a doubt in my heart and spirit that this man is hungry for God, which is why the passion, dreams, and lessons about God's kingdom he is sharing here resonates so deeply with my own thirst. I know where he is going, what He is after, and that is the heart of God.
Don't be afraid to learn, don't be afraid to admit your desires to God. He welcomes you where you are, as you are. As another author, John Eldredge writes, "Don't let your religion be a reaction to anything." God invites us to learn, to hunger, to reason with Him, He invites your honesty with him as well. He is kinder than we thought. Grow with God. Turn to Him for those things that we long to understand.
In the meantime, keep dreaming with God. After all, they are His own dreams that He's planted in our own hearts.

"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing;but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My father I have made known to you." (John 15:15) How would you feel if one day you woke up and the Lord showed you something great? This is how author and pastor Bill Johnson feels in his book Dreaming With God. This story has no setting and it is modern time. This story talks about Bill Johnson and his walk with Christ. Throughout this book there are tons of small stories that occured in his life. My favorite story was titled "Give God your nights." It talked about how we should ask God for visions and dreams before we go to sleep. We should ask God directly because sometimes we may have dreams that make us wonder if it is from our flesh or the Holy Spirit. When God gives us dreams or visions throughout the day or night, we should write them down and then ask God for understanding. I think the meaning of this book is that we are all Gods servants and we should always obey him.
I thought this was an excellent book because it taught me to listen to Gods voice and obey him. The pacing of this book was just Perfect! You will never want to put it down. The authors craft was very good because he kept you amazed throughout the entire story. This book was in Christian perspective because it talked about listening to God and the miracles he makes. This book was realistic fiction because things in this book can happen in real life. I thought this was a very good book and I would recommend this book to everyone.

Silver Ravenwolf (and many other with her publisher) are complete dribble. Biggoted ideas and her own rules according to the craft. If I had to retitle this book it would be "Witch Sterotypes: Silver Ravenwolf's version of Wicca." For real magical information believe me when I tell you to go elsewhere!

I do not practice Wicca, or any other religion for that matter, but I try to read about as many different religions as I can out of intellectual curiosity and the desire to understand the beliefs of others. I understand the term "fluffy bunny"...and I don't think it's sticky-sweet enough to really describe this book. Frankly, I found this book mostly laughable. I read it quite some time ago while I was a teenager and it was actually some time before I was able to consider Wicca as a religion without rolling my eyes and not just picturing silly high school and college kids who had seen The Craft one too many times. I understand that this book is not representative of Wicca and it's practitioners. I also understand why many Wiccans dislike Ravenwolf and her misrepresentation of their beliefs.
It was also annoying in the way she extols the virtue of tolerance, then constantly slams Christianity-a hypocrisy I have encountered far too often with "unconventional" faiths. Someone else in these comments mentioned that hating Christianity is the wrong reason to get into Wicca. He or she was wise in saying so.

There will be no fancy introductions here, so I'm going to cut right to the chase...
The reasons that Ms. Silverwolf is not a good resource are many, starting with the fact that she is quite bigoted. She says that she promotes peace and tolerance of all religions, but I don't see any tolerance anywhere in this entire book -- all I see are constant put-downs about those who do not follow the Pagan path, her main target being those who choose to practice Christianity.
Her advice for teenagers looking into practicing the craft is just as disturbing as the incessant Christian bashing. The fact that she advocates that young people should LIE to their parents is something that I find repugnant. She also advocate the use of mind games and lying to other people as well...
From reading this book it's obvious that she lacks rudimentary understanding Wicca/Witchcraft, as well as the different practices within Witchcraft and/or Wicca, especially dealing with the definitions of different kinds of practices within the Craft.
I won't even go into the historical inaccuracies that are found in her book, as there is too much to mention...
Regardless, Ms. Ravenwolf is definitely not a good resource for anyone studying the Craft.
If you honestly feel the need to read this book, I suggest that you get it at a discount, or borrow it from somebody so you don't feel so ripped off after reading it.

I have loved everything that I have purchased from Amazon.com by Mr. Tolle. This book I bought in Spanish for friends, as I was already familiar with it in my dominant language, English. Mr. Tolle's audioCDs are also more than excellent. He is able to make accessible to a very large audience some very profound truths. This, I feel, is his own particular genius.

This book was an eye-opener. After reading it for the first time, I picked it right back up immediately and read it for a second time.
I found it to be a didactic approach to matters of the heart and soul which were pre-conceived to me an un-explainable.
Read it before you fall in love again. Recommend it to your loved ones. Thanks Dave for "lending" it to me.

I have a lot of books on love, maybe fifty! And this book is one of my favorites. Why? Because it outlines very clearly what love really is and stages love takes as you cultivate real love in your life.
The stages include:
Romance (including attraction and infatuation), which we all know wheres off over time unless you work to keep it vital in a relationship. Attachment, which can become destructive if you do not know how to be attached in a healthy way.
Passion, which is different from romance in that Deepak feels passion is related to bringing out vitality in a relationship.
And, best of all ecstasy, which includes the ability to feel at-one not only with your partner, but all of life.
Lots of practical exercises also exist. If you want to know what love really looks and feels like, consider buying this book. - Dr. Lisa Love, Beyond the Secret

"Loving another person is not separate from loving God. One is a single wave, the other is the ocean." ~ Deepak Chopra
In "The Path to Love," Deepak Chopra blends modern day wisdom with ancient insight and myths. This is a reflective study of love's many stages (from romantic love to spiritual love) and as Deepak reveals the many nuances he also explains the spiritual goal of life. This book uncovers the reasons love is healing while anger and hate can be fatal.
There are quite a few case studies and the book is structured around stories of people struggling with everything from marital issues to questions about reality itself. Deepak acts as a psychologist who is solving issues one after the other. His clients have breakthroughs and each conversation reveals something new.
"Love and spirit are forming a connection every time you meditate on the heart, starting with the first time." ~ Deepak Chopra
For the most part this book reads like a comforting conversation with a trusted friend. There are instructions for a heart meditation. Then, a few questionnaires are included for your enlightenment. While this is not technically a workbook, it could be said that the contents of the book will change you as you answer the questions and discover hidden secrets about yourself.

Each book I read of Osho contains a message that is for me alone. I feel as if I am in the presence of Osho and yet he is nothing more than the messenger delivering what is meant for me to read. Each page of this book or any of his books, holds an 'AHA' moment for me. Just for an example, on page 137: "Death is a quantum jump from one body, from one form into another form. But is not an end to you. You were never born and you never die. You are always here." This is what I have always been told about God. But it is also for me.
I'd give Osho 5 galaxies!

When one would figure that every facet of courage has been covered, Osho has surprises in store. I am just speechless over his descriptive language and ability to get spiritual concepts across. This book has greatly enhanced my understanding of the great unknown which we often pretend is not out there. Osho invites us not to follow him but to take these leaps on our own. We are reminded of our divine right to question everything as opposed to having someone else take guide or take care of us. This book is permeated with lighthearted humor in each chapter that it just adds to the intoxicating pleasure I derive from it. I have kept this book within reach daily as I enjoy it wholeheartedly. I give this book 5 galaxies!

OSHO certainly has a point with his world view. The book is quite provocative, has many simple annecdotes and is easy to understand. It is not as easy to put it to action, but it is worth a try.

osho's explanations are well written and concise. he makes a lot of interesting points and they are supplemented with old tales that bring to light what he is describing. He maintains that one should think for oneself and not be a follower of anything.

I have studied for eight years the teachings of Abraham (non-physical beings who channel their wisdom through Esther and Jerry Hicks. Before that I read and studied many metaphysical teachings, along the same route many seekers travel: Science of the Mind, Napoleon Hill, Catherine Ponder, Neville Goddard, Norman Vincent Peale, Joseph Murphy, Shakti Gawain, Louise Hay, Seth, Orrin and DaBen, Eckankar, and WAY MANY MORE.
Of them all, Abraham gives me most joy and the best practical applications for living a blissful life. Bottom line of the teachings: thoughts are things and determine feelings, which in turn create our future. There is no death. Our only job is to feel good. When we feel good we are our best selves. But we humans have developed bad habits about thinking, so Abraham gives us game plans. When we follow them we win. When we don't we lose. But we never REALLY lose, because life is eternal, and we always get another chance.
Our best chances today are with Abraham, and those of us "lucky" enough (We earned it!) to have discovered them and to resonate with their powerful wisdom as given to us through Esther and Jerry Hicks, are living pretty wonderful lives because we have learned that they speak Truth.
I already owned the books in this set, in paperback. Those paperbacks are heavily highlighted with asides, marking fave passages. This three-set volume is my "pretty set" the one I have by my side to pull out and choose a page when I want a boost. And, they're my backup for when the paperbacks fall apart from so much handling.
If you're lucky enough to start with the fancy hardbound three-volume set, good for you! (This set cost me less than the three original paperbacks.) Mark them up at will. Reading, studying and being with Abraham's teachings WILL be good for you. Even better things come your way when you DO the recommended exercises and activities!
Would I recommend this set? With my whole heart. Would I recommend any of the teachings of Abraham? With my whole heart. If you are ready for these teachings your life is about to get a whole lot better! Lucky, lucky you.

These books are wonderful! I love the teachings in them. They are very user friendly and not too "new-agey" as some books can be. As far as the law of attraction goes, I'd say that this author explains it the best and the clearest. I saw The Secret and read a bunch of books about it, but I never really got it until I read this series. The boxed set is really cheap compared to buying each book separately. Highly recommended!!

I love this nice set. Although I do prefer to listen to their workshop cds nowdays. Want to be happy most of the time independently of what other people say or do? Do you want to be happy from within? Then you have to read or to listen to Abraham-Hicks stuff. It rocks!

The books present an in-depth conceptual framework and a practical guide allowing one to recognize the self as a vibrational being and learn how the Laws of Attraction influence the events happening in people's lives. It provides yet a perspective for developing one's Emotional Intelligence by connecting emotions with vibrations generated by people's bodies. Could be a powerful reading for those looking for self-development methods.

I'll not reiterate the incredible content of these books, they are incredible and indescribably important, as you probably already know or have "heard", reading these reviews. What I want to talk about is the amazing value of these beautiful volumes! You get all three hardbound books, with jackets. These books are NOT "book-club" or (otherwise) discount, lower quality editions. They are the same first-rate editions that one might purchase individually - all for the retail price of a single book! - Simply fabulous! The "box" part of the Hardcover "Boxed" Set holds them altogether nicely, protects them and is a lovely co-ordinating color with very nice high-quality, high-resolution labels on them. The "Emotions" volume even includes the bonus cd that comes with the single volume. BUY THEM, READ THEM, SHARE THEM!
