Sonia shares her own experiences along the way to make sure the reader has a deeper understanding of each lesson and purpose. "Soul Lessons..." would be clarifying for those searching for more soul knowledge and stymied by the plethora of titles available. The information flows smoothly. The organization is logical. It is an excellent book to read in conjunction with books written by other authors. The editor has ensured a clearly written format with few distractions from the main theme. An appendix with information of other writers would be helpful.

I love this book and the way it is presented. At the end of each chapter it had suggestions of what to do to become more spiritally attuned and how to learn the lessons. I bought several copies as gift for my family and friends.

A blueprint for a happy and purposeful life!

Since reading this book and putting many of the suggestions into practice, a series of magical events has started to occur in my life, and my spiritual self has been completely renewed and inspired!

I recommend this easy-to-read text (and the accompanying oracle cards) to anyone looking for guidance and a clearer view of the "big picture." Sonia's "Ask Your Guides" is also very enlightening, and I felt it was the perfect next-step after finishing Soul Lessons.

If you want a charmed life, buy these books and DO THE WORK! You will be greatly rewarded!

I love Betty Lou Phillips' books...I have every one...but this one is just okay. Normally she has some of the most clever "out of the box" styling ideas I have ever seen, but that is not what I saw in this book. However, if you want some great design books collect all her others...you won't be disappointed.

Betty Lou Phillips has done it again. This a a lovely book, rich with photographs of the most stunning homes. What I took away was the feeling of light. The windows in most of the rooms were huge, and they gave every room a sense of the outdoors, of light and air and space. Very charming. What added to the impression of relaxation, light and air, was that the colors in the room were so often pale. There were no pieces of furniture that screamed, only soothing colors and comfortable spaces.

I have no idea who invented small, stubby windows, but every tract home in American has plenty of them--and it's too bad.

As an interior designer I have collected, and review often, all of Ms.Phillips' previous books.
For me, INSPIRATIONS FROM FRANCE AND ITALY is the most spectacular of them all.
It is an irresistable voyage through beautiful gardens and interiors.
A feast for the eyes.
The dazzling photographs bring to life interiors and exteriors that are both inspiring and transporting.
I am anxiously awaiting Betty Lou's next fabulous complilation of beauty, style and inspiration.

This is the best book yet in a very interesting series. The illustrations, easy to understand and helpful captions and the historically interesting and practical text combine to make this a welcome guide and reference. Best of all, it describes the kind of home and furnishings most men should love. It is not foo-foo French. It is fun French, with a little Italian flavor thrown in for excitement. Every man should buy this book for his wife or equivalent in the hopes that some day he might enjoy living in such an enjoyable setting.

As always an excellent Ships of the line calendar. I have been purchasing them since 2001. This year is mixture of pre generations and beyond star trek art though the emphasis is on the rather forgetable tv series Enterprise(for some odd reason) and the orginal star trek(very understandable because of the upcoming movie). As always some of the art is really very appealing while some are rather forgetable but as always brings out the star trek fan in me. I especially like the wide-screen layout which really brings out the best of the art by displaying it in paranomic format. My only gripe is(and has been for last 3 years) is the non-photo realistic but rather a drawn aspect of the pictures. Theses calendars really used to stand out when an emphasis was put to make the art photo realistic like the TV shows and movies.

Well I think the calendar was worth the purchase price but they are rooms for improvement namely photo-realism and moving away from Enterprise era.

Thats the only thing that bugs me about these series of calendars.
I'm trying to forget that goddawfull show ever existed.
Along with Kathryn Lameway.
It doesn't take 78 years to cross the galaxy,
not if you are aware of the Mandel scale
ie Star Trek Maps' Introduction to Navigation.
In contrast to the dweeb who wants to see less
of TOS I want to see more including derivative
designs from and similar to the blueprints and original as from
the New Voyages with a only sprinkling of TNG & DS9.
Those of you aka Joshua Bell who like to kiss
Micheal Okuda's [...] you forget that in traditional
publishing it is those that publish FIRST who win.
Only in trek fandom do you it get backwards!!!
Mainly by newbies. (except Shane Johnston who just has his dates wrong)
Other than that this is a fine work, even that part where
the artist went conceptual rather than going the commercial/industrial
art route.
Finally since the dweebs have me good and angry,
the Reliant (WoK) is an Avenger class Frigate, not a so-called

I've heard about the Indigo children for a number of years now. After reading some of the Kryon material and Mr. Carroll's information on the Indigo's, I finally decided to order them. I should have done it long ago. I work with "different" children and this has answered many questions. I was addionally blessed when Amazon sent me an email saying, "People who have read the Indigo Children have also read "Forerunners Of The New Civilization, Indigo Adults", by Kabir Jaffe and Ritama Davidson.
I knew I had to have it, and it has been like reading my life. Many times I wept as I read confirmation after confirmation about myself. I am 69 years young and am excited about the changes that are taking place. Things may not look so good on the surface, but "Where sin abounds, Grace much more abounds". I look forward to participating in the rebuilding of the New Age. Ron

An obligated referential text!

In honour to the truth, the basic merit of this book, consisted on having brought to the public arena, a well though adjective, that permeated the long expected of so many parents along four decades.

With meridian clarity, the authors expose and describe pedagogically the basic facets of every case in question, how to realize ourselves about the deficit of attention, the hyper-kinetic children how to face and deal with it, and invaluable advises to achieve they got to develop without prejudices or any sort of social comments through a well reasoned system of recommendations.

Since its first release at the late eighties, this book is still a reference text, for parents, teachers and all kind of public in general, because sooner or later, you will involve direct or indirectly with these indigo children.

A must read!

I'd like to refer anyone reading this comment to the reader who posted this review: The Quintessential Resource On Indigos, April 23, 2005...scroll back and take a look. They said everything perfectly! Why be redundant?

I would like to clear up, though, the misconception that seems to be floating out there that these kids don't need boundaries, guidance. That's totally untrue. They DO. Moreso than the other children. These children need these things to grow up to be respectful adults. If not, they WILL grow up thinking it's a free for all. Yes, they are different..yes, they require tons more patience, but they are sooo worth it!

I hate labels. Of any kind. ADD, ADHD...even Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, etc. Personally, I feel these children should be called "Super Sensitive Kids". By that, I'm talking about their inner energy and needing to channel it properly; anyway, that is for another topic:~) Please read the book with an open mind.

This is a nice book and has some great ideas. But I don't work in metal or wood so it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. If you are interested in 'tin' or other metal mediums then this would be a very good book for you to see. I usually check books out of the public library first to be sure they are what I'm looking for but the library didn't have this book so I bought it sight unseen.

It is a very good book with a lot of nice photos.

The Thing Itself

A charming and thoughtful book

Review Date: 2008-08-15
I loved this book and want to read it again. When I first read it, alone in my living room, I nodded, grunted, and laughed out loud. A few sections made my eyes fill with tears. I kept thinking, "I've got to buy a copy of this for so-and-so."

Todd begins with an anecdote about buying a lovely antique. When this item turns out to be a fake, Todd wonders why this should even matter. After all, the object is still beautiful; it hasn't changed. He then goes on to explore both the nature of authenticity and the history of our yearning for it.

He follows a meandering path, which is a large part of the book's charm. I loved the asides and byways, many of which left me with a desire to travel further along them. I also loved the details contained in these asides. I'm grateful, too, for the specific titles that Todd mentions. Most of all, though, I loved the tone: kind, thoughtful, inclusive, and deeply human. Todd does not make this an abstract discussion. He personalizes it in ways that will help every reader know just what he means.

I read this quickly so I could pass on my copy to my brother. Now I need more copies to give as gifts. I guess the first person to get one will be me.

Admiration and envy
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2008-08-19
I am the brother who received the gift of Mr. Todd's book . Its excellence and wit has produced within me, among flushes of admiration and enjoyment, a few ominous polyps of envy; the sneaking suspicion that Mr. Todd is simply "better" than I am. Because my sister and I are both writers, "better" in this case, maps not only the geography of witty and elegant prose; but also a writer's envy of ideas so admirably turned as to make one suspect that Mr Todd possesses the sole example a lathe designed to express them as perfectly appropriately as the leg of a fine Queen Anne chair. An idea appears, is isolated for examination, and then twirled and turned around and upside down, until every perspective and permutation has been considered. Other readers, like myself, undoubtedly hold opinions about kitsch, Disneyland, authenticity, antique fairs, Yuppie suburban interlopers, wilderness, personal failings and cultural collapse, but I'll wager that by the end of this book those opinions will have been revised and certainly better articulated. Mr. Todd's genius is that he can make you laugh while he forces you do this. I'll think better of myself because I have bought and shared copies of this book with friends and resisted the temptation of inserting his observations into conversations as my own. Yet having admitted that, I can see that even this dishonorable impulse, is part of the terrain this wonderful book maps.

I loved browsing through the photographs getting inspiration for projects of my own! Because this book has two authors with different techniques and ideas they are able to compare the way they do things and make clear that we each have our own way of accomplishing the same task. The way they compared their techniques and approaches was extremely helpful and interesting. This book will inspire anyone to develop their own personal style and try something new.

Disappointing

Review Date: 2008-01-09
I expected more from this book, and was disappointed (which is why I'm returning the item to the store).

The author begins by giving an overview of the chakra system. An overview that is completely inaccurate according to ancient and existing information. The first chakra, for example, has never been related to "finance" in any way, yet the author managed to make that connection. In fact, all of the information in this book seems to have been grossly altered to give it a "new" feel.

The connections between mental/emotional issues and physical problems are the same old 1960's brochure material. If you grind your teeth, the author asks what you're angry about. If you're constipated, the author wants to know what you're holding onto.

I don't know if the author was trying to re-write old bodymind material, or address the energy system. She seems to be attempting to do both in this book, but she doesn't do it well.

The biggest disappointment comes when you discover there are no "answers" in this book. No suggestions about how to deal with psychosomatic illness. The dozens of other bodymind books I've read have given thoughts about how to address physical problems, but all Deb Shapiro seems to do is ask questions.

If you want information about the mind/body connection, there are many books superior to this one.

Unresolved Emotions create Conflict in the Body

"All your thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that fire off throughout your body, altering the chemical composition and behavior of your cells." ~ Deb Shapiro

If you have ever wondered how emotions affect the body, then "Your Body Speaks Your Mind" is an excellent place to start. Not only will you be able to understand your symptoms, you will also know how to eradicate them. This book contains many answers, especially to the following questions:

How do neuropeptides carry information from the mind to the body?
Do all diseases have their origin in the mind?
How do unresolved emotions affect your health?
Why are certain feelings linked to specific body parts?
What are the specific steps you can take to heal the body with your mind?

Deb Shapiro makes an interesting connection between love and health. She also shows how creative visualization and writing in a journal can help to take away symptoms of illness. By giving up negative emotions you can literally heal the body from the inside out. This book then becomes most useful as you make the connections and start the healing process.

"70 percent of patient visits to the doctor are for stress-related illnesses." ~ pg. 5

Some of the topics in this book include: Insomnia, Addiction, Nervous Breakdowns, Depression, Anxiety, Skin Conditions, Infertility, Menopause, The Digestive System, Eating Disorders and Heart Issues.

A CD is included with this book and contains visualization practices. I can recommend this book very highly and think it would make a perfect addition to any health library.

With this book, Deb Shapiro, will assist you with taking charge of your health and healing by listening and paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you from head to toe, inside and out. The premise is that all thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, aches, pains and illnesses, are hidden messages available for you to decipher.

Your Body Speaks Your Mind: Decoding the Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Messages That Underline Illness, sets out practical advice in an easy to read format. I read the whole book from beginning to end the first time round, however, using it regularly, I often return to this book by dipping into just the section which matches my current ailment (be it a cold, sore throat or aching muscles, for example). Putting symptoms into words has never been easier! I also love the idea that healing comes through appreciation and gratitude rather than through resistance.

In addition, there is a CD with includes an Introduction, Talking With Yourself, and The Body Mind Appreciation meditations, which encourage positive thinking and affirmations to teach self love, no matter what you have (or may think you have) wrong with your body in terms of both your physical and psychological being. Used with the BodyMind Review (Pg 77) and BodyMind Writing (Pg 78) the whole package ensures a deep awareness and gratitude for every part of your body, even those parts that may be hurting you. This book is already a best seller here in England, along side many of Deb Shapiro's other books, which promote healing yourself and others. She is a popular inspirational author, and I have to say I am already a fan of her healing methods. Comes highly recommended with Sassy's Seal of Approval!
