This book is excellent. She covers all the basics and has a supern nutrition section at the back which provides information about the nutritional values of all kinds of different foods. If you have a vitamin deficiency you can just look at the back and see which foods to add.

I own dozens of vegetarian cookbooks, old and new, but I find myself returning to this one again and again. I consider it my "vegetarian comfort food cookbook". Published long before we all developed fat phobia, this book contains rich, flavorful foods. Lots of dairy, so not the best for vegans, but meat lovers won't miss the meat.

The fantastic photos go on and on. The architectural plan and section views are very helpful. This book has all the information you need to come up with a good plan and list of needs/desires. You'll need to convert to metric and also research specific climate concerns, like temperature and regionally appropriate plants - everything listed in the book is for Europe.

Simply put this book is a MUST READ for anyone intersted in any aspect of Sustainable and Ecological Design. It should be read right along with Permaculture by Mollison, the Passive Solar Handbook by Mazria, Rainwater Harvesting by Lancaster, and ecocities to Living Machines by Todd. Even if you aren't specifically interested in making a swimming pool (which you will be after reading it) the insights into the workings of hydro-ecologies and how to design natural systems are invaluable!
If you aren't interested in the whole range of sustainability but just this particular topic of pool design then this book is STILL A MUST READ. If you're an ecologist who wants to make a pool, or a pool designer who wants to do something ecological this book provides an excellent layman's understanding of ecological design, with good technical and artistic advice for how to do it, and good technical and artistic advice for swimming pool construction.
I would still advise you to also purchase the book Poolscaping as a companion to this one.
This is an all around excellent book buy it now.

Eckhart Tolle cannot seem to fail when it comes to imparting to us exactly what we need to hear to make our lives better. Thank you! to my favorite spiritual teacher, for yet another gem in my consciousness. Is it, according to another reviewer, "re-packaged" material? Hey, what isn't? But it's the packaging and the soul of the packager that makes me want to listen, to hear, to stay right in the NOW instead of wandering away with my objectifying "pals" (those voices, voices, voices that add up to nothing in the long run). I love his "halting" phrases, phrases that make you lean forward to "hear" more...and to "hear" the stillness. Love, love, love - this man knows how to love the world. And he knows how to help us love more, too. I'll be playing this CD over and over, and passing it on to other friends who have discovered the joy - and the resulting love - of "inner space."

I listened to these CD's after reading his book, "A New Earth". I have listened to these CD's three times now and thoughly enjoyed them. I found this talk very profound and enlighting. Eckhart speaks with authority, as a man of high integrity, sharing what he knows, not what he thinks.

He's simply one of the most effective spiritual teachers on the planet, with the absolute best, most peaceful voice out there. If you're a seeker, seek here. If you're in pain, take these CDs and get some rest. If you're scared, use these to keep the Light on. Peace.

While this is not exactly what I was expecting, I am pleased with the workbook. The exercises are very clear and concise and easy to do. The treasure map exercise is also fun! This book is a much easier to use version of The Secret (yes, Gawain's book came first, I know, but The Secret has been the one most talked about in the past year or two). I like this one better.

A compass to navigate from your center to the universe's center

Review Date: 2008-08-18
How a road trip guide to the soul could be related to a universe compass to guide you, no matter where you are right now, through the challenges/changes in life and teach you, in a simple, clear, profound yet humorous way about old yogic truths that govern our lives in this planet?
Ms. Sardini, an inspring, fearless, fun and dedicated to life transformation teacher, whom I met, serving as a diplomat/press secretary, almost a year ago in my NYC stop, in the East-West yoga studio, taught me and reminded me some simple truths about how to live our lives, appreciating and confronting each moment of our life, with full consciousness.
I have felt that through her I added an essential skill to my planetary baggage, a genuine, profound and fun way to the better understanding of the people across countries, and specially here in the US, of how they/I connect their/my body expression to my sould expression to achieve their/my self-realization.
Maintaining a strong center in the midst of a thunderstorm and working towards the achievement of balance in any given situation is the best way to contribute towards peace and therefore to everyone's right to self-realization in a free, conscious and responsible way, which is ultimately everyone's right and obligation in this planet.By understanding this very simple need we can connect easier to our higher self/puropse in life and contribute, creatively, to the broader cause of peace, compassion, tolerance and living meaningfully from our center, as Ms. Sardini would add.

I've been taking Sadie's classes for almost 5 years, and I have to say, this book is like having Sadie along for the ride of your life...a personal life-coach you can take with you anywhere. If you can't make it to NYC to take her yoga classes, this book, along with her dvd, will change your life, and encourage you to tap into your inner strength and shine it out.
Sadie writes clearly, in easy to understand, easily digestible chapters that illuminate ancient yogic truths in ways that we can all use and benefit from. She will be your guide on an inner trip that will empower you to make real, lasting changes in your life that will benefit not only yourself, but everyone around you.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. It's real, it's powerful, and it will change your life.

Opening Sadie Nardini's book has the potential to be life-changing. In many ways...it is like gaining a friend on the challenging journey of life.
Sadie's guidance and the sheer pleasure of reading her fluid prose, with some great humor woven into it!, couldn't have come at a better time, dealing with collapses and crises in all corners of life.
"The Road Trip Guide to the Soul" encouraged me to get back in the driver's seat on my journey, and it was a joy to turn to Sadie's book to hear her voice and take time to reflect on her wisdom, as she is a gifted interpreter of eastern ways for the western mind. Finishing the book brought on a bit of post-partum depression, because it is so much fun to ride along side Sadie! But, of course, the book is never over because it is truly a resource guide, a place to turn to as a companion on the journey.
As a student of Sadie's Core Strength Vinyasa yoga classes, I am especially appreciative that she has written this book, offering such a wonderful part of her philosophy out in the world. Hopefully, the Road Trip Guide will reach and touch new readers and searchers - expanding Sadie's audiences of students and others - spreading the word!
Prompted by the Road Trip Guide, I recently decided to take myself out to help get over the painful end of a relationship. I chose a movie that I really wanted to see, and bought a big bag of popcorn! It was lovely to feel the return of ease and enjoyment in being one's own companion - and I really like the company I'm keeping now (mine) - treating me a lot better, too! Sadie's wisdom on centering self is clear and invaluable - especially in tough times!
There is an old saying, "Make for yourself a teacher; make for yourself a friend." The Road Trip Guide to the Soul is written by a wonderful teacher who becomes your friend by the end of the book, empowering the reader to take a new, confident, and freshly inspired road on the journey of a meaningful, rewarding life.

I expected more from this book, and was disappointed (which is why I'm returning the item to the store).
The author begins by giving an overview of the chakra system. An overview that is completely inaccurate according to ancient and existing information. The first chakra, for example, has never been related to "finance" in any way, yet the author managed to make that connection. In fact, all of the information in this book seems to have been grossly altered to give it a "new" feel.
The connections between mental/emotional issues and physical problems are the same old 1960's brochure material. If you grind your teeth, the author asks what you're angry about. If you're constipated, the author wants to know what you're holding onto.
I don't know if the author was trying to re-write old bodymind material, or address the energy system. She seems to be attempting to do both in this book, but she doesn't do it well.
The biggest disappointment comes when you discover there are no "answers" in this book. No suggestions about how to deal with psychosomatic illness. The dozens of other bodymind books I've read have given thoughts about how to address physical problems, but all Deb Shapiro seems to do is ask questions.
If you want information about the mind/body connection, there are many books superior to this one.

"All your thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that fire off throughout your body, altering the chemical composition and behavior of your cells." ~ Deb Shapiro
If you have ever wondered how emotions affect the body, then "Your Body Speaks Your Mind" is an excellent place to start. Not only will you be able to understand your symptoms, you will also know how to eradicate them. This book contains many answers, especially to the following questions:
How do neuropeptides carry information from the mind to the body?
Do all diseases have their origin in the mind?
How do unresolved emotions affect your health?
Why are certain feelings linked to specific body parts?
What are the specific steps you can take to heal the body with your mind?
Deb Shapiro makes an interesting connection between love and health. She also shows how creative visualization and writing in a journal can help to take away symptoms of illness. By giving up negative emotions you can literally heal the body from the inside out. This book then becomes most useful as you make the connections and start the healing process.
"70 percent of patient visits to the doctor are for stress-related illnesses." ~ pg. 5
Some of the topics in this book include: Insomnia, Addiction, Nervous Breakdowns, Depression, Anxiety, Skin Conditions, Infertility, Menopause, The Digestive System, Eating Disorders and Heart Issues.
A CD is included with this book and contains visualization practices. I can recommend this book very highly and think it would make a perfect addition to any health library.

With this book, Deb Shapiro, will assist you with taking charge of your health and healing by listening and paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you from head to toe, inside and out. The premise is that all thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, aches, pains and illnesses, are hidden messages available for you to decipher.
Your Body Speaks Your Mind: Decoding the Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Messages That Underline Illness, sets out practical advice in an easy to read format. I read the whole book from beginning to end the first time round, however, using it regularly, I often return to this book by dipping into just the section which matches my current ailment (be it a cold, sore throat or aching muscles, for example). Putting symptoms into words has never been easier! I also love the idea that healing comes through appreciation and gratitude rather than through resistance.
In addition, there is a CD with includes an Introduction, Talking With Yourself, and The Body Mind Appreciation meditations, which encourage positive thinking and affirmations to teach self love, no matter what you have (or may think you have) wrong with your body in terms of both your physical and psychological being. Used with the BodyMind Review (Pg 77) and BodyMind Writing (Pg 78) the whole package ensures a deep awareness and gratitude for every part of your body, even those parts that may be hurting you. This book is already a best seller here in England, along side many of Deb Shapiro's other books, which promote healing yourself and others. She is a popular inspirational author, and I have to say I am already a fan of her healing methods. Comes highly recommended with Sassy's Seal of Approval!

I found this book to be very helpful as a mom running her own business and I was very happy to be asked to contribute to it. Reading the things the other contributors had to say about being able to do what you love for a living were very motivational. I hope this book encourages more women to start their own businesses. This is a cut-to-the chase approach that profiles a cross-section of successful businesswomen crafters. Before you start setting up any kind of business, you'd better make sure your idea is unique and marketable. Sit down with Fitzgerald's book for a few hours, and you'll see what these women did to stand out and succeed in a very competitive business environment. I particularly liked that each profile is in that woman's own words. If I'm going to make my dream of starting a business a reality, I sure need to hear from those who stepped off the crafting cliff before me! I really liked this book.

First of all, this book was hard to get a hold of. Did they not print enough or what? Borders couldn't even order it for me, Barnes & Noble had no stores nearby with it and took a couple weeks to get it in.
I've been working on my own crafting business for almost two years now, and I love Country Living Magazine, so I was excited for this book. I would just recommend it to those who are looking for more inspiration than real direction and hardcore answers.
The true stories of successful crafters are very inspiring and helpful in the advice the women give. It was fun to see the other women's crafts (many of whom are well known in this business) and hear how they came to be successful and what their dreams for the future are.
I would not recommend this book if you are looking for some serious answers about the structure, laws, options and rules when it comes to setting up your own crafting business. I would strongly recommend The Crafter's Business Answer Book by Barbara Brabec, that book will answer every question you have and help you get set up. This book, however, the Crafting a Business book, just skimmed over all these topics very briefly at the end of the book. It wasn't as thorough and didn't answer all the important questions.
I'm pretty happy with my purchase nonetheless, and have really enjoyed reading through the various success stories in this book. It is encouraging and enjoyable.

I've been a fan of Dr. Weil's written material and website. I was looking for something to listen to while resting or trying to rest. I found this was too intense. I'm keeping it, as I move forward I believe this will be a good fit. In the meantime, I really enjoy the sound wave tracks.

I ordered this on the recommendation of my doctor to help ease stress. After reading the book and listening to the CD's the exercises and other methods Dr Weil suggests are easy to follow. Only advice is the music and certain parts are very relaxing so definitely don't plan to do some of the areas of toolkit during working hours save them for home.

As a psychotherapist, I often recommend breathing exercises, meditation, guided imagery, and other relaxation techniques to my clients. However, this is the first time I have found a good introduction to all of the above in one place! I bought a kit for my own use (I like to practice what I preach) and have since enthusiastically recommended it to several clients. I especially like that the info. is presented in three different formats -2 audio CDs for home instruction, a guidebook for background information, and a set of cards with one technique explained on each. The cards are perfect for reference while on a lunch break, waiting for an appointment, etc. I also like that many of the techniques take less than five minutes to do, since many of my clients complain that they do not have time or are not ready to commit to devoting long periods of time to learning relaxation techniques. The sound therapy on CD 2 is great too, and is nice background music while reading, journaling, etc. I am very grateful that I discovered this kit. I have used it every day since I bought it a month ago. It has enhanced both my personal life and also my effectiveness as a counselor, since I now have an easy way to introduce my clients to a variety of relaxation techniques. Thank you, Dr.Weil, for putting this kit together!

I have many other decks that I have used as part of my daily meditations, but this has immediately become by far my favorite. I believe this deck would be of great benefit to anyone wishing to improve their frame of mind and lives, not just those following the Abraham-Hicks teachings. I am very grateful to have this deck and highly recommend it.

Amazing work of Esther and Jerry Hicks that continues to inspire and encourage all of us to become better selves. These cards are carried with me and when I'm feeling put off, out, or simply out of sorts with myself, they are a great reminder of balancing self in the greater scheme of the divine.

The book has become something I read daily. When I saw that these cards were available, I just knew I had to have them. Each morning, I open the box and select a card at random. Then I carry that card with me and refer to it throughout the day.
The cards are wonderfully designed and each offers knowledge, widsom, and insight that I find invaluable.
And no matter what I am going through in my life, I find that the Universe seems to know which card I need to read for that day!

Beautiful, well made inspiration.
One side has a statement of inspiration, the other side provides more detail and explanation. I'd like to use them more but they sit in the box. It's a condensed, really condensed, version of the book. You must have read at least one of the Abraham books to get the most from these, but they have sparked interest in my hubby to learn more and he hasn't read the book. Beautiful. I glance at one or two before closing my eyes at night.

The wife and I bought book one and two, and have found them to be a wonderful read at the end of most every day. We also sent it as a gift to a relative in prison, and he has really enjoyed them as well. Artfully bound, it is the kind of informative study material you can read and discuss over and over. Hank's best work I think.

The Bible Answer Book by Hank Hanegraaff (also known as The Bible Answer Man) is solid in it's approach because it gives a lot of different answers to commonly asked questions in multiple areas. My main issue with the book (as one reviewer already mentioned) is that it falls short on substance in spots, and that left me a little disappointed more than once.
The Good: This book is great in that it tackles a lot of common questions such as: What must I do to be saved? Can a Christian lose their salvation? Did demons have sexual relations with women in Genesis 6:4? Plus what I enjoyed the most was his small section on Muslims. Hanegraaff States,
" While muslims readily affirm the sinlessness of Christ, they adamantly deny His sacrifice upon the cross and subsequent resurrection. In doing so, they deny the singular historic fact which demonstrates that Jesus does not stand in a long line of peers from Abraham to Muhammad, but is God in the flesh."
He goes on to add further insights into Muslim beliefs when Hanegraaff states, "In recent years, the myth that Judas was crucified in place of Jesus has been popularized in Muslim circles by a late midevil invention titled The Gospel Of Barnabas." Hanegraaff has added much to my understanding of Muslim beliefs.
The Bad: To say that I don't agree with all his theology goes without saying. However, I really felt on more than one subject he gave you a taste of truth just to not follow throught on the concept. I know he was probably trying to keep this book short and to the point. However, I feel he did his readers a diservice by not following through on the concept on more than one occasion. Still this is a solid book, and one I will use as a reference.
