I have many other decks that I have used as part of my daily meditations, but this has immediately become by far my favorite. I believe this deck would be of great benefit to anyone wishing to improve their frame of mind and lives, not just those following the Abraham-Hicks teachings. I am very grateful to have this deck and highly recommend it.

Thank you for the spiritual wisdom!

Amazing work of Esther and Jerry Hicks that continues to inspire and encourage all of us to become better selves. These cards are carried with me and when I'm feeling put off, out, or simply out of sorts with myself, they are a great reminder of balancing self in the greater scheme of the divine.

The book has become something I read daily. When I saw that these cards were available, I just knew I had to have them. Each morning, I open the box and select a card at random. Then I carry that card with me and refer to it throughout the day.

The cards are wonderfully designed and each offers knowledge, widsom, and insight that I find invaluable.

And no matter what I am going through in my life, I find that the Universe seems to know which card I need to read for that day!

Beautiful, well made inspiration.
One side has a statement of inspiration, the other side provides more detail and explanation. I'd like to use them more but they sit in the box. It's a condensed, really condensed, version of the book. You must have read at least one of the Abraham books to get the most from these, but they have sparked interest in my hubby to learn more and he hasn't read the book. Beautiful. I glance at one or two before closing my eyes at night.

Previously, I read and reviewed Tom Butler-Bowdon's 50 Self-Help Classics and 50 Success Classics and was not surprised to find that his most recently published volume in the "50 Classics" series is their equal in terms of the quality and value of the material provided. Butler-Bowdon employs essentially the same format for the three volumes: brief background on each source, major insights, final comments, and mini-bio of author. The "great thinkers" he discusses in 50 Psychology Classics are also organized in alphabetical order, although I would have preferred (one man's opinion) that they had been organized within discrete thematic clusters, and not in alphabetical order but in terms of sequence of influence. Sigmund Freud followed by Carl Jung and Alfred Adler and then Anna Freud followed by B.F. Skinner, for example. Frankly, as I checked out the table of contents, I was initially surprised to see Edward de Bono, Howard Gardner, Malcolm Gladwell, Daniel Goleman, Steven Pinker, Gail Sheehy, and William Styron among the "iconic figures" listed so I read their segments first and, sure enough, Butler-Bowdon explains the inclusion of each.

In the Introduction, he provides an overview on the development of modern psychology as a field of study, once "early titans" (e.g. Williams James, Sigmund Freud, Jung, and Adler) had written books that the general public could understand. Within the Introduction, he also suggests seven themes that offer different perspectives on "who we are, how we think, and what we do" and assigns to each a cluster of relevant commentaries. Readers can then decide which themes are of greatest interest to them, and, on which selections to focus. For example, five sources are suggested for "Tapping the unconscious mind: Wisdom of a different kind." They are:

The Gift of Fear (Gavin de Becker)
My Voice Will Go With You (Milton Erickson by Sidney Rosen)
The Interpretation of Dreams (Sigmund Freud)
Blink (Malcolm Gladwell)
The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious (Carl Jung)

I read some books cover-to-cover sequentially; with others, I hop around back and forth in random fashion; with still others, I read strategically after checking out the table of contents, as I did with this one. My guess (only a guess) is the latter approach will work best for most readers and many may decide what to read and in what order after reviewing the seven thematic clusters in the Introduction. For those who feel overwhelmed by the number of books in print and need help selecting what will be of greatest interest to them, the volumes in the "50 Classics" series will be especially valuable.

I view Butler-Bowdon is an erudite "travel agent" for readers, but also as an enthusiastic "tour guide" who then accompanies them from one "landmark" to the next. One of this book's several value-added benefits is that Butler-Bowdon discusses several authors and works of which many (if not most) of his readers may have been previously unaware. He also does a skillful job of comparing and contrasting perspectives on a specific subject as in this volume, for example, when noting that a "central idea in Adlerian psychology is that individuals are always striving toward a goal. Whereas Freud saw us as driven by what was in our past, Adler had a teleological view - they we are driven by our goals, whether they are conscious or not."

Those who share my regard for this book are urged to check out the other volumes in the "50 Classics" series. To those in business, I also highly recommend several volumes in the Capstone reference series written by Des Dearlove, notably The Ultimate Book of Business Thinking.

Psychology overview for non-psychologists

This book offers an engaging overview of 50, for the most part, widely popular psychology books as well as short biographies of their authors. Knowing the backgrounds of these psychologists helps to understand where they are coming from and what motivated them to explore a particular area of human mind, or behavior and arrive at particular conclusions.

Some of the authors covered are William James, Sigmund Freud, Karl Gustav Jung, Abraham Maslow, Dr. Milton Erickson (as a hypnotherapist, I was thrilled that he was mentioned here), Robert Cialdini, David Burns, and many others who have contributed not only to the greater understanding of human mind and behavior, but also to creating methods and techniques some appropriate for use within therapeutic environment and others designed to help people to use on their own to cope better with life's challenges, to feel better and to live more satisfying lives.

Tom thanks again for providing us with the knowledge we need in our journey of life.

Excellent comprehensive overview of psychology

Following on from Tom Butler-Bowdon's previous volumes in the "50 Classics" series, this first class collection of summaries of key psychology books and authors continues in the same broad, accessible, but also in-depth, style.

As the sub-title says, psychology is all about who we are, how we think, what we do. In other words, what it means to be human. Topics covered include the unconscious mind, happiness and mental health, the study of personality, motivation, love, creativity and relationships.

With key "in a nutshell" comments, the author cuts to the essential message of each writer, while addressing more complex subtleties in the accompanying text. As with Tom's other books, there is a very wide range of carefully chosen authors. I had come across several here in an academic context, but in general the emphasis is on popular psychology, "Psychology for nonpsychologists" as the jacket puts it. The range includes RD Laing, Oliver Sacks, Fritz Perls, Ivan Pavlov, Eric Berne, to pick a few random names. The founding fathers such as William James and Sigmund Freud are covered, alongside over a century's worth of contributions right up to Malcolm Gladwell with his 2005 bestseller on the importance of first impressions and split-second judgment.

There is a huge amount of psychological and self-development literature available these days. It can be difficult to know where to begin but each volume in the "50 Classics" is an excellent starting point. "50 Psychology Classics" is another winner in the series and I wholeheartedly recommend it!

I can't say in a thousand words what Osho means to me. I would say that Osho is a being that touches the unbelievable.
What you must understand is that Osho talks to a multitude of different kinds of minds and so it is difficult to say which book on him is a good start.
In some readings he explains is approach and methods, in others he just brainwash all your assumptions and false beliefs.
In this book he uncovers the secrets of being born as someone that needs intuition as a way to unlock the confusing tricks of our mind and knowledge.
In other books he talks on intimacy, courage, old religions, traditions and ways of knowledge and plainly explains how to step into the unkown.
And the unkown is not the unknowable, you have to set your mind and your thoughts in a way that whatever you will ever know is mental and cognitive. You are the necessary bondage and the unique reality. And Osho ultimatly makes you think and act for yourself out of inner freedom. You can find it to have more weight or more lightness but the BEING is the same, and his words just make you cool down to abundance.
It makes you think in so many different ways and also gives place to an essence that is not the ego, the false personality produced by external circunstances. In spite of ego he lifts you alone with existence and with your uniqueness and inner freedom.

Celebrate light! Dance with Life!

Intuition is not something that you buy ready-made

To have intuition you have to move into a higher level of consciousness and sensitivity. Otherwise, if you are half-sleep as the mayority of people are, it is impossible to understand intuition. Osho is very clear stating that intuition is not an intellectual pursuit or intellectual analysis made with your mind. You have to move beyond the mind, to the "witnessing consciusness" to contact a higher dimension. You cannot buy a book on intuition and expect to have it after you finish reading it. We in the West want everyting ready-made instant coffee. Intuition does not work that way. Osho tells us like it is and I am sorry if somebody is hurt.

A work of true genius and a tribute to the imaginative child
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-08-27
It will only take the reading of at most 10 pages before you will reach the conclusion that Bill Watterson is a genius. He captures the lament of all children whose imagination overpowers them, leading them to other places when they "should" be concentrating on more mundane things like schoolwork. Calvin is a young boy who is always in trouble, yet his problems are a consequence of his tenuous grip on reality. If he can maintain his imagination into adulthood, he no doubt will be very successful as a writer, but as a child, there are strong forces that will strongly dampen his wandering mind.
I was such a child, often preferring to play off by myself on the playground and pretend that I was doing greater things than simply kicking a ball or swinging in a swing. My teachers often wondered about my being alone, yet those were my favorite times during the school day. Elementary school teachers have a collective abhorrence for any child that is "different."
Some people enjoy C & H for the amusement, yet some of us recognize something deeper, the imaginative nonconformist who struggles to hold that characteristic into adulthood. For it is not till adulthood that it is appreciated.

Forgive me if my review runs a bit on the sappy side, but I grew up with Calvin and Hobbes, and I sometimes think they are among the best friends I've ever had. Bill Watterson's comic is gentle, sincere, and magical. At its core it is an examination of what it means to be human, and the value of friendship. Watterson's philosophy of the comic strip was that it should be based around characters rather than gags; we should feel as though we know the protagonists as real people, rather than as interchangeable vehicles for jokes. That comes through on every page, even from the very beginning. Calvin's world has a cast you can probably count on two hands, but every character (except possibly Moe, the bully) has at least a hint of fully-rounded personality. Watterson's world is one of simple pleasures shared with good company.

As with any comic strip, the first collection is rather crude in pretty much every aspect--the drawings, the humor, the personalities--but as a prototype for what would come later, it is not without its own charms. Even at this stage I would hardly call Calvin and Hobbes a forgettable, generic strip. It still has heart and a sense of profundity, even if Watterson had not yet figured out the most effective way to illustrate these things in his strip. It's interesting to see the origin of Hobbes (even if this version was discarded later), the genesis of Calvin's relationship with Susie (the love-hate romance, which will later be toned down, is at the forefront here), the first appearance of Spaceman Spiff, the introduction of a then-unnamed Rosalyn, and so forth. Also, early Calvin and Hobbes are somehow a bit more adorable here than their later incarnations, but you didn't hear that from me.

In an age of disposable comics, Calvin and Hobbes is one of the few childhood experiences of my life that I can actually appreciate more with age. I would not find it an exaggeration to say that Watterson's perspective of life heavily shaped my own, as I find myself much less concerned with superficiality and the plastic culture of Hollywood than many of my reality-TV-addicted, Nike-sporting, iPod-blasting peers, and more appreciative of the little things in life that we tend to take for granted. All Calvin needs to be content is a good friend and a search for adventure, and even as I grow, kicking and screaming, into adulthood, I find I can still relate.

To say "I LOVE THIS BOOK", is an understatement. I bought "I will not die a unlived life" in the early 2000's and never read it. It sat on a bookshelf and then ended up with a handful of book I took with me when I moved away. It's amazing how the Universe works. The book kept falling out of wherever It was I stuck it, I don't know how many times it did this before I caught on. I read the Poem "Living Wide Open: Landscapes of the Mind" and I was hooked. I felt like a Phoenix, I was dying off, but I was ready to be re-born and this book started that process.
I was on a Spiritual Quest, I just didn't know it yet, Dawna jump started this process. From the first page I was captivated and have read it at least 7 times I know of. Each time using a different colored pen or marker to underline new passages I need or like, my book is so worn it's falling apart. If you feel there is something you just can't put your finger on BUY THIS BOOK, it will lead you to what it is your missing.
Thank you Dawna, you changed my life FOREVER

I truly believe that this book should include a disclaimer: if the reader dares to enter the pages of Ms. Markova's book,it could forever alter the way one lives their life.
At a certain level, I see I WILL NOT DIE AN UNLIVED LIFE as an important treatice for women at a demarcation point in their spiritual journies. I hesitate to call it a "chick book," although I do believe it will appeal to more women than men. I, however, am a man that was drawn by the title and then mesmerized by the content. Ms. Markova gifts her readers with a stunning and intimate look inside her beautiful Soul, and she never winces when we can't help but but stare right back. The book has quite simply yet irrevocably changed my life. It relentlessly yet tenderly asked questions of me that I had been too afraid to ask myself. She invites a deep and thorough inner exploration, and she artfully demonstrates the journey by revealing the profound depths of her own inner quest.
The look inside of the author is at once breathtaking and life giving. She not only shares of her own inner landscape, but I came away with not only a knowing but also a love for her family and her day-to-day life experiences. The rawness of certain passages left me in tears. Her candor and courage are nothing short of spectacular.
This book is a must read for anyone who suspects that that they are living a life too small for who they are at depth. There is no longer any reason to die an unlived or an unloved life. This pioneer of human heart-intelligence has led the way through an inquiry that will lead to a fullness of passionate purpose that leaves one transfixed and transformed. I have and will continue to give this book to people I love enough to want to shake them from the rafters of habitual mediocrity. Buy the book- and then enter courageously. You have nothing to lose except a false sense of self.

I'm not a big fan of Scott Cunningham's writings.Yet,this was an interesting spellbook on house blessings. Many people will have a priest or pastor bless a house,to bane evil spirits away. This book is for those seeking a neo-pagan touch to this hearth tradition. There is some folklore information, but not much profound pagan history.I would still recommend this book.It has many good ritual ideas and makes a great house-warming present.Your rooms are your sacred spaces.Your living room, your bedroom, your kitchen and even your reading room ,all have a character of their own. One's personality is a strong force, during one's lifetime and after death. That's why we believe some buildings are haunted by spirits. The protective spells provide a buffer zone between our physical world to an outer spiritual level. And free any fettered soul onward ,toward a more peaceful destination. You can develop more elaborate and advanced rituals, using this fine book as a primer.

This is one of my favorite books in my library. I've given this as gifts many times, mostly to non-pagan but open minded friends. Everyone finds something that they they love about it. This isn't a 101, how-to, Wicca book. This book has ways to charm and improve every room and everyone in your home. It's a really fun, interesting, and inspiring read. I don't usually do spells and tell, but I will say that everything I've tried that this book has suggested has worked. Magical experience all around! I only wish there were more books out there like this one!!

This little gem may be filled with folklore, however, not all folklore is fiction! The information and methods presented in Cunningham's Magical Household maybe simple, and many generations old, however they are highly effective. Theres something in here for every practicioner. Great for a beginner, and a welcome addition to an experianced witches library. Included a simple ways to bless, protect, and enhance the magicality of the home. It includes chapters on pets, the bathroom, the kitchen, the garden, etc.

Filled with history, folklore and bits of information that are also useful today in modern times, it's easy to like this little gem. The 'chants' seem a bit stilted but I think it gives the book a bit of that old world charm. Overall it's a keeper and something I refer to from time to time (especially when moving house!) Not only for those who practice alternative religions.

If I were only allowed to have three magic books, they would be Scott Cunningham's The Magical Household Magical Household: Spells & Rituals for the Home (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series), Gerina Dunwich's Exploring Spellcraft Exploring Spellcraft, and Patricia Telesco's 365 Goddess 365 Goddess: A Daily Guide to the Magic and Inspiration of the Goddess.

The Magical Household is my favorite Scott Cunningham book. The index is painstakingly created to give you insight into every type of spell you could probably ever cast. I was amazed at how many mini-spells, as well as more complicated ones, were in this book. There is a small section on the use of herbs, as well as another on animals and their relationship to magic (listed by animal). There are charms, spells, correspondence information, purifications, blessings for objects, and recipes for incense (among other things).

Where this book really excels is in the old folklore and traditions handed down through generations to bless our homes, our pets, our families, and ourselves. Hence the title, Magical Household. It is easy to place five shiny pennies under your doorstep to bring wealth and prosperity into your home and it is equally easy to take a bath in salt water to purify yourself of negative thoughts. Little things like this make life steeped in tradition that you can hand down to your children and they really work. More importantly, they can be done by pagans, Wiccans, Christians, or other denominations. Prayer and magic have been around for centuries. No religion has cornered the market on prayer or ritual.

I find that among the many magical authors, Scott is my favorite. Perhaps it is because my daughters and I are solitary practitioners as well, or because we have affinities for animals, herbs, and our home as he did. Whatever the reason, his books are full of wonderful tidbits and painstakingly simple ways to enrich our lives.

There are mini-spells throughout and most do not involve exotic ingredients that would take years to find or complicated arrangements of your altar and items. If you are a huge Buckland fan, you would probably not appreciate the spells in this book, which are not grandiose and ceremonial. If you love Dorothy Morrison and Patricia Telesco, then you will love this book as well.

This book is truly a rare find. Get one while they're in print.

I've always heard it said that God only comes where He's invited. I believe that to be true. GLORY INVASION gives us a look at what can happen when we "throw-open-the-door" and invite God in!

WARNING!: If your going to read this book and reap the benefits YOU MUST TAKE THE LIMITS OFF OF GOD!

This book has revolutionized my understanding of the power of God's glory, and how it is so necessary and needed for all believers to get in line with what He is doing in the earth. So much can be accomplished for Him and His Kingdom if we enter into that realm of his glorious presence and stay there, exist there, and watch lives get transformed, including our own. David Herzog and his wife Stephanie have shown us that living in the Glory realm is possible of each person that is born again. His experiences have provoked me unto jealousy. I want it too! This book has definitely changed me. I couldnt put it down from the time it arrived at my door. I was like someone who had not had water for days, and this was the water that quenched that thirst. I am thirstier now than ever! I want more and I am going for more! I highly recommend this book!

Seems as though Wayne just randomly pieced together this CD. ABSOLUTELY nothing like the book which I value beyond words.

A classic work in the spiritual growth category

The hardcopy version of this book was the very first book I read in the spiritual growth category. To this day, nearly two decades later, I still look back on it as a pivotal, life-changing work. The chapter on "Forgiveness" in particular is the best content regarding that subject that I have ever come across. For this reason and more, I include "You'll See It When You Believe It" as a "must-read" in the recommended reading list included within my own book.

I have actually been through a long period of spiritual chaos. I have owned this book in the past. I also owned many other books that are of this kind. I thought that this book would be helpful because it was written by a psychologist. This book is actually useless. The best thing to do in times of turmoil is to keep things SIMPLY. That is the best solution. Think in a positive way but not to the extreme end that is advocated in all these self improvement books which are actually self DESTRUCTION books.
For those who question my opinion, I have been severely depressed for over 6 years. I stop being depressed back in 2003. I am currently a psychology major. REAL psychology books are VERY different from these SHAM books.
I hope my review have helped someone. If you have books like this, you should throw them away.

This book had a longlasting effect on my life

This book will change your life. It spooked me, but the changes I did allow have lasted almost 20 years. Even I still can't believe what the power of thought could do. Some are simple things; I ALWAYS get a great parking space, but that's an inconsequential thing. I realized I had and was able to stop an addictive behavior. But the spookiest thing, which doctors say cannot happen, was I cured a disease; scared me and I never did it again. I had plantars warts and when I was ready for them to be gone, with my entire mind and heart I insisted that they stop and they were gone the next day, plus they have never come back. "Spontaneous remission" is the term doctors use, but they really don't think it can happen. I just nod my head in amazement. Thank you Dr Dyer.

I am writing this review after seeing "The Secret" on DVD and browsing that book. I remembered reading those exact same concepts (which work, by the way) in many of Wayne Dyers books. In my opinion Dyer far surpasses all the other gurus for a couple of reasons.

First of all, his perspective focuses on giving out or sending out love, practicing forgiveness and of course visualizing to manifest rather than just this "genie granting wishes" attitude that I find so offensive in other law of attraction oriented works.

Dyer explains the whole process and leaves you with a very good feeling, not a cheesy, warm fuzzy feeling or a quick fix but a genuine "aha" type of feeling.

Also, he presents the material with careful thought and sincerity, and many many detailed examples. What you won't find are the many insults to one's intelligence in the form of a book cover designed to look like some stupid ancient scroll, no ridiculous marketing campaign, and none of the pretentiousness of the others who claim the info is somehow secret. It's not. Dyer also has the decency and the confidence to not present the concepts as if they were given to him by some bizarre spirit guide, which I vehemently do not believe it.

The Cancer Prayer & Support Team of the Cicero UMC in Cicero, NY has purchased this book to give to those in our church who have been "touched" by cancer, either in their own life or a family/friend.

This book has received fabulous reviews and we will continue to purchase the book when our current supply is depleted.

I have given this book to many people when they learn of a new diagnosis of cancer. It was given to me 7 years ago when I had lung cancer.
When I opened its pages, I felt like I had found somebody who knew what I was feeling and had written it down. My feelings were now validated. And they were validated with hope. "Hope" was the theme through out the book.
The title says it all.

This book is great. It offers insight and HOPE. I am not living with cancer yet I have learned so much from this little book. What it has to offer is not little - big in understanding, big in learning, BIG in HOPE.
