Sensual and Alluring
I bought this book b/c of reviews of Mr Deida's poetic ability to write of the subject of sex. I was looking for an understanding of the mystical union between men and women. Mr. Deida's book wrote of this union; his diction..... warm, wonderful and sweet.
His writing allowed me to enter the mind of an `awakened', one who sees the union beyond the sensory perception of our flesh and mind. Finding God through Sex validated my experience of lovemaking as transcendent of the human condition, into the realm of spirit. I agree Mr Deida, through lovemaking, were are connected with God.
This book is an easy read. Mr Deida's prose reminds me of Sourwood honey; sweet, sticky and full of nourishment....YUM. Romantics of life and spirituality..........read this book!

... then it should be this one. There are so many wisdoms packed in there, one of them being that, well, most adults have sex. Quite a few of them like it and even more would like to like it more, do it more, or enjoy it more. If, by doing this, you can happen upon a deeper meaning of life, and with that, your place in it, all the better. It doesn't get much more understandable, both God and Sex, than the way Deida talks to us about both.

This is a delilghtful and beautiful book for artists or those of us who appreciate others' talent. Curtis has created a labor of love first in his home and then in his book. I was fortunate enough to tour the finished product and it is truly gorgeous. I'm able to relive the experience by revisiting his book from time to time. This book is a winner on all counts.

Decorative Artist Curtis L. Heuser will take you on a true-to-life journey of his purchase of a forgotten historic house in disrepair to it's reclaimed glory. A chance meeting between Curtis and the art director for the book's publisher resulted in this journey being documented for the benefit of creative thinkers everywhere. Where to begin? What to tackle first? How to proceed? Curtis allows us to enter his creative thinking process as he provides the reader with his inspirations, initial preparatory drawings, as well as tips and tricks, materials lists and instructions for executing many of the exciting painted and plaster finishes that he used in this stunning home. From the elegant chinoiserie-inspired garden mural on the cover to the creation of a faux-rusted vanity, Curtis hasn't kept much to himself. He allows the reader generous access to this handsome home and to all of the secrets of it's restored beauty. Your Home, a living canvas will inspire you to rethink your own living canvas and if you like, will hold your hand along the way.

I love reading what people have to say about things I KNOW so well. lol I am very fortunate to have a Curtis Heuser mural in my home and when guest see it, they speak of my home to others as a mansion, not a house. Curt is a would class artist, however, this book gets criticized in some reviews because it is not JUST about murals. Please be thankful about that folks. A mural does personalize a space and add an art feature to a home but Curt then teaches how to complete the picture by showing you how to decorate the space. Curt does not say, "Give me a boat load of money and i'll transform your home", he tells you how to make your house a mansion. I, like Curt, came from very humble beginnings and he has taught me how to live like a king, or at least look like on a shoe string budget. He teaches how to select great paint colors, fabrics, and decorative pieces you can pick up at discount stores or antique shows. People come to my house and look at things I have picked up and marvel at their beauty and I smile knowing that the item might have been $9.00 and I bought it because I loved it. I didn't have to pay a decorator a commission on something purchased form a store that already has it marked up. Please enjoy Curts gift for making your house a home from mural work, faux finishes, collections that you purchase from Goodwill to antique shows. However, having said all this, my best purchase was the mural in my dining room. Check it out on HGTV website, episode 508 on the show Before and After. I hope there will be many more books from this man. He has the gift to create world class spaces. I wish all of you could have your own Heuser mural. His portfolio is amazing.

YOUR HOME,A LIVING CANVAS sits on my living room coffee table and everyone who sees it wants one. Curtis Heuser's work is stunning and his directions for achieving beautiful results in your own home are clear and accessible. This book is head and shoulders above any others that I have read on faux finishes and/or murals. For just browsing for aesthetic pleasure or for guidance in undertaking major artistic redecoration, YOUR HOME is the book to own; the perfect gift to give or to receive.

The wife and I bought book one and two, and have found them to be a wonderful read at the end of most every day. We also sent it as a gift to a relative in prison, and he has really enjoyed them as well. Artfully bound, it is the kind of informative study material you can read and discuss over and over. Hank's best work I think.

The Bible Answer Book by Hank Hanegraaff (also known as The Bible Answer Man) is solid in it's approach because it gives a lot of different answers to commonly asked questions in multiple areas. My main issue with the book (as one reviewer already mentioned) is that it falls short on substance in spots, and that left me a little disappointed more than once.
The Good: This book is great in that it tackles a lot of common questions such as: What must I do to be saved? Can a Christian lose their salvation? Did demons have sexual relations with women in Genesis 6:4? Plus what I enjoyed the most was his small section on Muslims. Hanegraaff States,
" While muslims readily affirm the sinlessness of Christ, they adamantly deny His sacrifice upon the cross and subsequent resurrection. In doing so, they deny the singular historic fact which demonstrates that Jesus does not stand in a long line of peers from Abraham to Muhammad, but is God in the flesh."
He goes on to add further insights into Muslim beliefs when Hanegraaff states, "In recent years, the myth that Judas was crucified in place of Jesus has been popularized in Muslim circles by a late midevil invention titled The Gospel Of Barnabas." Hanegraaff has added much to my understanding of Muslim beliefs.
The Bad: To say that I don't agree with all his theology goes without saying. However, I really felt on more than one subject he gave you a taste of truth just to not follow throught on the concept. I know he was probably trying to keep this book short and to the point. However, I feel he did his readers a diservice by not following through on the concept on more than one occasion. Still this is a solid book, and one I will use as a reference.

If you work with, or want to work with, the Faery beings, this lovely oracle deck can help bring you into contact with the Faery realms. It can be used as a meditative tool, as keys for connecting with certain Faery, or even contacting your Faery contacts who help you within the Other Realms. One thing I love is that the writer of the book and the artist push you to develop your own relationship with the Fey rather than rely soley on the book for interrpretations which is as it should be!

I originally purchased these cards for a friend (on a whim) but when I saw them I was so enchanted by them I kept them for myself! (I'll order another set for the friend.) Their energy is delightful, intense, and a welcome change from the standard tarot deck. I like that the accompanying book is a hard-back and have found it a very useful guide to the cards. Users/collectors of tarot or other oracle-type cards should definitely give these a try.

Rev. Micheal is an amazing teacher. Not only does he take you step by step through how he developed the visioning process, he also makes it clear that there are many paths to get to your true self. Stripping off all that we currently identify ourselves with and surrendering our "Victim" consciousness allow us to tap into who we really are and allows us to advance to the next stage of our evolution.
Each DVD contains a very helpful prayer/meditation track that can be utilized on their own as you examine yourself. Setting aside your past, preventing yourself from focusing too much on the future this DVD series gives you a path back to yourself. Back before we identified with anyone else having more power over our lives than we do and it contains wonderful lessons to illuminate the truth that we are able to take ownership of our own lives.
The DVD also set you up for "work-play," which is essentially the opportunity to participate in your own spiritual evolution. Take advantage of the lesons contained in this series and Rev. Michael bring to DVD what we at Agape are able to experience on a regular basis. As a member of Agape for 3 years I am grateful for this series which has allowed me to spend more time in my car, and in my home focusing on Rev. Michael's wonderful teachings.
Peace and Blessings!

I've been a journal writer and spiritual practitioner for years. Many of my spiritual teachers read poetry at retreats and workshops, but I've always felt too intimidated to write poems myself. Recently a friend urged me to turn one of my journal entries into a poem. I wanted some help and found this book. It was exactly what I was looking for. It's not just a "how to," but an interesting read. The author gives plenty of stories and exercises that make poetry fun and less intimidating. My husband and I tried a few of the exercises together and it got him interested too. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever wanted to write their own poetry and wake up their spiritual practice.

This is the book I've been waiting for! It offers clear, inspiring instruction on writing classical forms of poetry, forms that provide a welcome wardrobe in which I can dress my wild muse and display her secret beauty at last. And it makes the connection my friends and I have been trying to make for years: all poetry is sacred poetry. The written word, carefully crafted and lovingly shared, has the potential to transform consciousness and lift us to the realms of the sacred, which, as it turnds out, dwells within the ordinary. Robert McDowell reminds me that poetry is the language of love, love for the divine, love for one another, love for our truest selves.

Reading "poetry as Spiritual Practice" was like quenching a deep thirst I didn't know I had. Robert McDowell explains with simple clarity how important prayer is to our lives, and how to create our own prayers -- as poetry. He explores the great poems of literature not as museum pieces, but as the brilliant soulful voices of our fellow human beings. He invites us to share their company, and to open our hearts as they have. There are lots of poems in the book, lots of technical explanations and lots of exercises. But McDowell seems to have that rare gift of being quite detailed and yet simple at the same time. A warm and welcoming book from a great teacher.

For those of us without academic training in the writing or understand of poetry, poets and their writing process seem unique and incomprehensible. And yet, we all long to put into words, to set down on paper, the moments of pure grace and serenity that we experience in our spiritual process, whether that process is rigorous or casual, structured or independently woven. Poetry as Spiritual Practice removes the mystique from the writing process and offers it to us in a development of method that is not only successful, but fun! McDowell leads us through the building blocks of traditional poetic forms in such a way as to make writing these forms effective. Applying the practice of writing poetry to our spiritual process is icing on the cake. If you've ever longed to write poetry but were intimidated by the mystery of the forms, or even wondered just how to get started, this little book is a course in exactly that. With a friend, with your book group, or on your own...pick up Poetry as Spiritual Practice and experience the joy of the poem, your poem. McDowell's manner is unpretentious, the poetry is accessible, the poetic forms demystified with simple clarity. You feel as if you are sitting with him over coffee playing around with words, and every so often you will sing out with joy as you hit upon your muse.

I just returned from a weekend study/practice with the Rinpoche and his delightful personality and powerful yet easily accessed practice of sound healing is transformative. His guided words on the cd really help to instruct the practice and the book is helpful and simple as well.

This is a great book and CD! Without the CD, one might be in lost of proper sounding each 5 words, and without the book one still be in lost. Both together, one will have great understand and wisdom of knowing.
This is a excellent book/cd for beginners and for those who want to heal. I find this book very educational and enlighten. The CD it self fills the room of good vibes and peace and joy, without humming the 5 words. You will pick these healing sound of each words with no problem. Though the "DZA" may take some use too, but it is not really difficult. The "D" sound is quick a short, like you not hear the "d" sound, and more of z sound. It's very quick.
Though I was searching for a book that has a bounch of different sounds for different chakras, and so forth. This book still was very helpful. Even if just knowing these 5 words, will give you an good idea of other sounds of your own you can try. Direct these vibes both front and back for best clearing all blockages orbing around the body. Experiment with the body when sounding to, you can feel the vibes in legs and arms too.

I accept this as a true technique used by the author. I have not yet worked through it, but the information is concise and clear.
One thing that strikes me is that this is a small book. Information only. Most books are full of anecdotes, and pangyric nonsense that makes them difficult to understand and too time consuming to read. He had information for a small book, so he wrote a small, honest book.

I am not a big reader, but I read the excerpt for this book online one day (of course during a bad day at work), and couldn't stop laughing. I ordered it that night and read the whole book in less than 2 days. As I said, I am not a big reader (I work in IT ... I read specs and they're usually wrong), but I couldn't put it down. Adams makes light of every folly in corporate America .... incentive plans, HR, consultants, management, scorecards/reviews, peers, the art of slacking off and looking busy ........ if you don't like this book, you do not work in corporate America.

Yeah, we all know Dilbert. Meetings are waste of time, managers are stupid, and co-workers are imbeciles. I half expected this book to be full of these cliches. Not even close. Scott Adams does an excellent job of showing the humor of a job with smart observances and clever ideas. From the absurd yet funny comics, to actual written letters from organizations, and his own personal experiences - Adams gives out humor that is relevant, funny, and pertinent. His topics range from management, to consultants, to engineers, to marketing, and much more. He touches on all facets of the workplace in a manner that couldn't be handled well in a few comic strips.
I'm working and getting my MBA now, and this sort of book tends to ground me. It's a quick and easy read. Nothing special, but very smart and funny.

I am a huge Dilbert Fan having worked in a cubicle most of my professional career and this book had so many situations presented that I myself had experienced. Adams' Dilbert has much of the same frustration as I do at times.
Excellent and hilarious!

I wonderful book! Especially if you like the artsy side of jewelry.
The jewelry are divided into sectons. Under every picture the name of the artist are written (and somethimes the webadress) so you can find more information about the artist on the web for example. The only negative thing with this book are the fact that det title are wrong. There art not 1000 jewelry inspiratons, since some of the pieces are put in several categories, and therefor have been counted several times (every item showed has a number, a new number every time the item are shown). All in all a wery attractive book that I you often to get startet with my own jewelrymaking.

Superb illustrations on so many techniques and use of various types of media that this book will be a permanent part of my beading library for years to come.
In the Appendix it has a few basic jewelry making techniques to get you started, and a Index with a list of the Artists who created the wonderful eye candy in this book. The Resources Index has a solid list of jewelry suppliers too.
There are so many inspirational designs to choose from, and what fodder for creating new ones!

tons of inspiration and some sensory overload in 1000 Jewelry Inspirations. I mean that in a good way; there's so much in the book that I have to look at it a few pages at a time.
Pieces range from simplistic to complex, yet each will jump start you on your own projects.
The book is divided into several sections. Each photo is numbered. Chapter 1, Beads and Baubles, is by far the largest section with items 1 through 313. Next up is Paper + Mixed Media with 314 through 440. Polymer + Precious Metal Clay follows with items 441 through 602. Chapter 4 covers Vintage and Repurposed items with numbers 603 through 749. Fibers + Fabric is next with items 750 through 864. Items 865 through 1000 are covered in Wire + Metal. The book concludes with a very short appendix of jewelry-making techniques (beginner level), an artist directory and index, and resources.
There is something for every skill level here. The type and style of jewelry is very broad, so if you've been doing only one type you can get inspiration on types and styles that you are unfamiliar with.

Firstly I have to admit bias (I'm one of the artists whose work was included)however, having said that I had no idea what a wonderfully broad range of work would be covered. This book is well set out and shows work in a very broad spectrum of style and imagination. Not many words, just the sort of book you like to pick up and browse through for a bit of inspiration.

There are a lot of Jewelry books out there, and I have purchased a few to get new design ideas and learn new techniques. However, I have been disappointed with other books in the past for lack of creative designs and Style. Many other Jewelry books are more for the crafter and less for the designer. The variety of unique designs found in this colorful book,"1000 jewelry Inspirations" are enough to feast your eyes on and Never get bored. This book is suitable for any designer, admirer, buyer or beginner in Jewelry design. The pictures and step by step guide found in the back of the book are easy to follow for anyone just starting off with little background knowledge. Many of the designs found in the book are easy enough for a novice to try. The other great thing about this book is the price! Costing less than many other books in the same genre and providing more "bang" for your buck, this book is a good investment. There are many sellers from the website www.etsy.com, so don't forget to look up the designers if you are interested in purchasing some of the unique, beautiful jewelry from the book at reasonable prices.

After being swayed by the clever marketing techniques of The Secret. I felt there was more to the Laws of Attraction but wanted a book without the distraction of layers of pyscho babble and glamor. This book is it - using terms such as "lets get down to the meat" makes reading and more important, understanding simple. Its not a glossy over-optimistic book, and as a primer is edcuational. Also there are explanations and examples of how Laws of Attraction don't work

I have all the law of attraction books and this one works best for me.
Ahlquist tells the reader up front that this is no new theory. She also addresses the other books before her's and lets us know that some presentations work better for some people. Her book makes it simple and fun to understand. She talks about prayer, God, and compassion which is not in the other books very much. It is more logical than some of the others and is already working in my life.
Since I read her book I have started to change my work situation around and am on the road to a new relationship.
I love the book and her humor makes understanding more fun.
