This is the stuff of science fiction, but it turns out that science is proving every day that it's truth. Want to be a part of something big, this is your chance. Fascinating read, even more fascinating experiment.

A couple of chapters into Lynne McTaggart's book, The Intention Experiment, I was disappointed. Bored and disappointed. Two emotions I certainly didn't expect to feel while reading a book on one of my favourite topics, the intersection of science and psi.
It took me a while to figure out why I was feeling like this. It wasn't that the book didn't contain information from scientific studies on esoteric subjects such as meditation and intentions and healing. It did, and those studies in themselves were interesting. The studies presented do make one think about the connections between all living things and the power of the mind to affect matter. I finally realised, however, that I was battling to connect with Lynne's writing style. It reminded me of some students' literature reviews that I used to evaluate when I was an academic as well as of some journal articles that I would be asked to review - competent, don't get me wrong, very competent, but "disconnected". By this, I mean, they would present many scientific facts and figures, lists of studies and results, but ultimately not tie these together in any coherent way to give the literature review a sense of continuity and a central critical argument (possible, even when one is trying to fairly present both sides of a debate).
I persevered with The Intention Experiment, however, and it did get better. By the time the final two or three chapters came round, linkages between sections and a critical viewpoint were emerging.
The last section of the book presents some very practical guidelines related to setting and sending an intention. I found these very helpful and probably enjoyed this section, which applied the results of the scientific studies to very specific exercises, the most. The book is further linked to Lynne's website (www.theintentionexperiment.com), where you can join a community, discuss your own and others' experiences as well as participate in ongoing group intention experiments.
My criticisms above notwithstanding, I am still very grateful to Lynne McTaggart (and all the scientists mentioned in her book) for their continued work to understand the nature of the universe and to make it accessible to everyone.

The book spends all but a few chapters as a reference of all the previous studies done to show that intention and thought does affect our physical world. I've read almost every one of the books written on all those experiments, so it was a bit repetitious. So why another experiment? In the author's own words, "an inordinate number of books have been written about the power of the human being to manifest his or her reality, and while they have served up intuitive truths, they offer little in the way of scientific evidence." Spoken like a true egghead.
We so value the intellect over any other form of knowing, even though in the author's compilation of tests, it showed the heart was higher intelligence than the brain! We let the intellect dominate how we experience reality to the extent that we have obliterated our perspective of common sense. A prime example is a Harvard study costing hundreds of thousands of dollars to show that cheese is the best bait to catch mice. How can our intellect not let us see what already is, unless it is measured by what is provable?
And who can we have do these experiments? The pillars of the scientific community. Guys like Popp: these foremost, leaders in their fields who are hesitant to risk their reputations on any study which might fail, once he has made a name for himself? And these people are supposed to be on the cutting edge? Give me a break. How can anyone respect these people?
What the author and most scientists fail to understand is that we live in a temporal world, but these intuitive truths they want to scientifically prove are eternal. If the scientists don't prove them, do they not exist, or did they prove that their methods are inadequate or their paradigm is insufficient?

I didn;t buy this my sponser did - she is always thinking of me and ways to help me - I am a single woman now - I lost my husband after his heartattacks and I am trying to recover from a lifetime of abuse - and trying to keep a good job but it is hard, so she brings me gifts and things she thinks will help me from time to time, although I wish she would stop spending mone this way and if she wants to throw it away then just give it to me - but she said she ahd had a reading from thsi woman - at 200 a head- and she was amazing - so i thought ok I will try it - well it is just a bunch of simple sentences i could have written myself - trust yourself - believe in the beyond -all that jazz - and I want to write and tell people that this doesnt always work. My mother believed that our minister was a good man but he wound up takin her for a ride then leaving town. I thought it would be a good idea to not finish high school and follow my true love - i had vibes tellin me he was the one - so i did and he wound up an iv drug user and gettin me involved in his madness which i am still payin for and have bad circulation from. I thought it woudl be good to follow my vibes and train to be a childcare workers - but when i started and paid money they told me i couldn;'t cause of my felony charges - so cause I followed my soul all these tmes I have wound up jobless with an addiction to anything not nailed down to the floor and a deadbeat mom - so I guess Ms. choquette would say my soul is wrong or I am not followin my real vibes but they were real at the time - and now i am nothin - so don;t trust a lady who is rich and telling you to follow your dream guides - find a good friend who you can talk over thing with - that is better - I don;t even have friends anymore - just a sponser who has to talk to me - and that is from practicing what this lady preaches - I guess if I was einstein I would have not made those mistakes - but then again he didn't face what i did - god bless

This book isn't exactly what I expected, but may be just what I need. It's short, sweet and to the point. One can never have enough wisdom in one's life. It's small enough to carry around with you. I should listen to myself more, and accept that I am also wise. This book is a helpful reminder.

This small book is a pocket-full of quick inspiration to remind us that true knowing lies within and can not be found elsewhere. Sonia prompts us to trust ourselves and she explains how. The book is a philosophy for living an inspired life and does not just reminding us of our intuition, but it educates us about it. This is a great gift and a must have for those who want to learn how to use their intuitive power.

Sonia's new 'little' book packs a huge message...intuition is the prime ingredient for discovery, innovation, and re-creation! Just look at the company you're keeping... from Einstein to Bill Gates...when you rely on intuition. This little book is a great gift for everyone...I just ordered a case, so I can gift everyone of my clients!

"We seek our own melding with the absolute"

In my life long search for the true meaning of life I have studied and investigated a lot of things. Ultimately I have become convinced that our truth purpose in life is enlightenment and now study and follow the so called non-dual religions of the east. Having found non-dual wisdom I abandoned all my previous spiritual / religious beliefs including the belief in channeled information as well as the new age idea's that we reincarnate to learn specific lessons. So initially I was resistant to revisit the concepts that are presented in this book as they seemingly are in direct conflict with the non-dual wisdom path. How could both be right? One believing that the personal self is an illusion and that there is only one true nature and the other believing that there is a spirit world and that we have individual immortal souls that reincarnate to learn lessons. However it proved well worth my while to put aside my reservations and read this book!
My review will not cover the `life plan' aspects of this book as so many other reviewers have already done that. If that is what you expect then it would be better to read one of the other reviews. If it interests you to read on then you will find a high level critical review of this book based of the highest level of spiritual truth that I know, the non-dual wisdom teachings of the east.
"If you always - and I mean always - take the higher road, the higher frequencies will lift you into more loving actions towards others." ~ Page 285, Courageous Souls. Non-dual wisdom says if you seek your true nature then the Self will begin to pull you in. What I discovered in reading this book was that it is far more inline with non-dual wisdom than I initially suspected. It now seems to me that reincarnation and life lessons are an intermediate stage (that we all go through) which will ultimately lead to the desire to seek enlightenment itself, which is where the non-dual teachings of the east begin. The channeled information in the book states quite clearly that the personality structure is an illusion created for learning; "The personality is the illusion that is required on Earth in this space-time to learn the lessons" ~ Page 222; "You must understand that the personality is a construct" ~ Page 230. Non-dual wisdom says something very similar that the personality is a construct / illusion and that enlightenment is seeing through the construct and knowing ones true Self, which is indescribable impersonal conscious non-duality (oneness).
I am university trained in logic and deductive reasoning and do not simply believe something because it sounds impressive or it is popular. I put everything I come across through rigorous logical analysis and cross checking and only embrace it when it stands up to thorough examination. Just because I have embraced spiritual teachings does not mean that I have thrown out logic and reason. Therefore the unscientific approach of this book grated on me and although I was pleased that the author validated the information by using several different sources for the same person the book is clearly written with no objectivity. I found the writing style too informal and loose for what I consider a serious subject. The author repeatedly inserts his own understanding of the material, his personal beliefs and common new age beliefs which requires some sorting through because of the different sources and levels of understanding mixed together. The reliability of the source of all information is of utmost important to all scientists.
Spiritual truth can only ever completely be trusted when spoken by someone who knows because they have been there experientially. Second hand truth may be true but there is no way to verify that it is not simply nice cozy concepts that we want to believe in because they make us feel better. Lastly I definitely do not trust channeled information, for the same reason, you have a completely unverifiable source of information. You have no idea what level of consciousness that `spirit' who is providing the information has reached, in fact you have no idea if information is even being channeled. A clever psychic or psychologist could simply be reading you and telling you what you expect to hear or giving you some spiritual information that they read in books especially after you have already provided them with a lot of information upfront. I am not saying that the information provided in this book is not true but rather that you can not verify the source of the information and therefore it is automatically less trust worthy. For these reasons the book lost one star. Despite my misgivings I still rated this book at four stars simply because of the inspiring and beneficial affect it had on me. And despite what I have said I have faith that the unverifiable `life plan' information is reasonably reliable because I crossed checked the other channeled information with my non-dual wisdom sources and these sources I have complete faith in since I have been validating them for years.
Some further extracts; "Do not consider reuniting, for that betokens a separation. There is never any separation. What the personality feels after death, when it feels as one with God, is simply the brushing away of cobwebs that obscure its view" ~ Page 223. Non-dual wisdom says that the world appears as duality but in reality is non-dual. In other words there is no separation only a oneness, this applies to physical object as well as consciousness. Further it says that we can not see reality because our view is obscured. "we create the illusion in which we appear to be separate from one another and All That Is" ~ Page 203. "The realization and recognition that one is responsible for creating one's own sense of happiness and well-being" ~ Page 143. This is also a teaching from a high consciousness level and indeed similar to non-dual wisdom which states that we project all meaning out onto the world. All emotion states stem from our mental positioning towards objects. Therefore if we give up our constant mental positioning we can experience peace. "What other activities are you engaged in? We, too, server as guides and mention for others, and we seek our own melding with the absolute"; a question that is asked of channeled spirit ~ Page 74. This is saying that there are other beings in other realms also seeking enlightenment in their own way and this agrees with the non-dual teachings that say we are seeking enlightenment.
I have given some examples from the book that I have been able to verify with my non-dual wisdom sources. Some other concepts that are mentioned in the book that also correlate with non-dual wisdom are impermanence, non-judgment, compassion and love. One of my non-dual western master teachers often says how judgment is reserved for God alone and that we think is just a beggar on the street may actually be an enlightened master. This book really helped me embrace this teaching. I have found faith in what else is offered about life lessons and despite my continued weariness and tendency to distrust channeled information I have found this book of great interest and usefulness. It certainly helped me become less judgmental, more accepting, inspired greater hope and meaning, and resolved a long conflict I had between my past new age beliefs and current faith in non-dual wisdom. In essence both teachings are true and compatible but vary in approach and target audience. I highly recommend this book to those of you who embrace new age and also to those who study non-dual wisdom (as an interesting and useful adjunct to your primary teachings). I end with one more validation with the non-dual wisdom teachings.
"The hermit who sits alone on a mountaintop radiating a vibration of peace does more to bring harmony to the world than the angry peace marcher." ~ Page 270

Since the sketical part of me never really stands down, I loved that the author used a back-up channeler for every example. One channeler for initial information, and a second, independent one to give her own insights. Although I certainly can't claim that every reader will have this experience, I did find peace through understanding about a life-long hurt. There was no answer to the question I (thought) I was looking for, but then came an enormous, clear understanding of a question I didn't know to ask! And the writer's style is thoroughly enjoyable.

If there is ever one word to describe this book, its powerful. What a concept...that suffering is never meaningless, but a vehicle of purposeful intent and that we, as eternal souls, planned to use certain challenges to foster growth not only for our own souls but for the sake of our soul group and the universe at large. Putting it into a context like this, suffering has a whole different meaning.
According to the book, those around us also plan our lives intertwined with ours and all decisions are made out of love, no exception. I now think about my own challenges and those who have played a key role in my own personal growth and look upon them with gratitude and not judgment, including the "villains" in my story, because they fostered the most growth out of me. I am only now beginning to see the perfection of life. Aside from clarity, this book will bring healing and infinite comfort to those going through extreme suffering in their lives by learning there are no victims in this world.
Part of me picked up this book to find comfort for my own inner wounds. I cried when I read the words "Only the courageous plan fear" for I knew, that was what I intended to heal and have been working on it for years, having them dissipate one by one.
It has been a long time since I closed a book and felt warm, comforted and knowledgeable. The author takes you by the hand and guides you through this information with compassion, grace and great wisdom. I just cannot fully express how wonderful this book is. It is absolute perfection and if I could, I'd give it more stars. If there is ever a book I'd recommend, it would be this one!

I absolutely love this book! I knew that we had pre-planned our lives before reading it, but it explains it so well with people's stories to show you examples. I really hope I can get my friend to read it as I think it will help her to understand the reasons for some of her challenges in her childhood and now. EXCELLENT BOOK!

Everything always makes sense when you can see the big picture. This book provides a glimpse into why events we perceive as "bad" happen, through a varied collection of individual cases.
Our lives in this "reality" are just learning experiences, to expand our awareness of ourselves, we agreed to before we arrived on the planet.

I have read many of the Hicks' books and some say they repeat the same subject matter. Hey, it is about The Law of Attraction and each one of their books approaches it from a different angle. However, another book on the same subject is a very interesting read and gives you a workbook format and a journal to record those thoughts,Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook.

I strongly recommend to read every chapter even if you don't think it applies to you, there is a message to be heard. I am so loving life right now, finally someone has answered the questions that I have been asking for so long, and finally someone has reassured me that what I have been feeling and knowing for so long is the way that I should have been feeling.
I also recommend other book about feelings, emotions and relationships that is a perfect match with this great book: I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't

Reading this just reinforces all that we forgot we knew.My plans are to re-read it again and again to really let it all sink in.Enjoy!

Over the years I have bought several copies of this book. I wore out one, the others all were loaned out and never came back. I figure those folks needed it more than I did at the time. But I always end up buying a new one because my library seems incomplete without it. This is a must have for any solitary and even for those of us in covens. There is much to learn for Mr. Cunningham.

This book is quite excellent and easy to read. It holds up just enough information for the basics the religion Wicca, along with enough advanced point to make the grade with more advanced users of magick. Scott Cunningham's work is amazing and I love him as an author, but he could have don without handing out his BoS in the end of the book, thusly splitting the book in two to most whom only seeking it for references. In the end Scott does provide all the necessary requirements to make this book a definite pick up.

There's a reason why Scott Cunnningham was so well loved in the WIccan community. Out of all the Wiccan books I have read, and there have been many, this one still stands out on my mind as the essential and most direct one. Unlike some other authors, Scott manages to get straight to the point of what Wicca is, spends only enough time telling us what it is not, and making it clear enough for all to understand. While I would not recomend that those who are looking into Wicca stop here, this is by far the perfect starting point.
The only complaints I have are maybe with some of the wording of his rituals. But even he suggests we write our own rituals, making his merely examples.
Also I suggest all potential Wiccans read and understand Gerald Gardners "Witchcraft Today" and Doreen Valiente's "Witchcraft for Tomorrow". Always know the history of the Craft so that it does not become diluted and ill-defined.

A great beginners guide to those starting out in Wicca or Paganism and serves as a very good refreshers course for those who have been practicing already. It's very informative and easy to understand; the author doesn't talk down to you and is very easy to get along with. The first section deals with the God and Goddess, the tools used, alter preparations, preparations of the circle, of the body, the uses of music, dance and gesture during a ritual. The second part goes though magical exercises and rituals, a self dedication and a design for it. The third part of the book is the author's Book of Shadows (a magical journal). It is used as an example of what you can do with yours and includes a section on herbal magic, crystal magic, seasonal festivals, recipes and a section on magic done with runes.
This is one of the first books I got when I started getting back into Wicca. I asked around in an online group I'm in and quite a bit of the people recommended Scott Cunningham's work. I used to have several of his books before hand and I get the feeling that they would now make a lot more sense if I had gotten this one first and read it before them.

This is one of those books (like Napoleon Hill's Positive Action Plan: 365 Meditations For Making Each Day a Success) that I will never finish reading -- I'll read it for the rest of my life.

The message is great, the writing is fine, but the book in general left something to be desired. Cheap paper, bad printing, and large type make it look and feel like a cheap paperback dressed up in it's big sister's clothes. Making money while he's still famous? I think his message is worth more than this cheap paperback with a hard cover.

This one does not feel like a book (since it's a companion to The Alchemist), as there is no story, but rather a set of thoughts. It reads fast if you know the original sources so i'm not sure it's worth compared to things like Tao the Ching, The Art of War, and other classics. It may help when reading the Alchemist, at least to indicate at which level the Alchemist should be read, but alone it is simply a compilation of other works. Might be useful to read again the Alchemist after reading this one...

If channeled material bothers you and you can set that asside I think there is much here to appreciate. As always the Universe is saying "Yes" to you so "Living the Art of ALLOWING" Good and creating deliberately with intention can be a great assist to anyone wanting to change their life experience for the better.

I just finished reading this book. I really got a lot out of it.
I must say I was a bit leary at first about Abraham and the authors. I still can't quite buy into the idea that everything I ask for is given to me, or that the authors are so confident in their healthy emotions they cancelled their medical insurance or that every disastor victim attracted their misfortunes with "bad vibs."
Having said that, it is truly a wonderful study in positive thinking and really simple, but effective techniques to improve your emotions and outlook on life. That part really does work! All and all I got a lot out of the book and am thankful I read it. Do I beleive every work as it is written, let's say I have my doubts. Read it with an open mind and take for it what works for you.

I've read a load of bestsellers on manifesting personal desires including this one, and I found they all have one thing in common - none mentioned karma, which I think is the ultimate challenge in fulfilling your desires. Why are so many people struggling with sickness every day? Why are there so many women looking for years for a mate? Is that because they don't desire them or they are not clear on their goals and desires? These books are there to make you feel empowered, but will your reality change? Not until they address how to overcome karma. And I hope one day, there will be a well-rounded book that talks about balancing desires and karma.

As I myself have been trying to practice the Law of Attraction, I found this book helped me to realize a very important point. You can ask, believe but to receive you must consciously and deliberately be aware. I have found myself in default mode meaning if you are not consciously aware it will not happen. They also give you processes (excercises) to achieve your goals. Similar to this book and one of my favorites that also show you how in a workbook format and gives you exercises is Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook

I've read and reread this book so many times that I now know exactly where to look for passages about joy, self-acceptance, "homecaring," gratitude, simplicity, and so forth. The author has certainly done her homework in that the book is filled with pithy quotes, interesting information on a variety of topics, and biographical data on some famous and not-so-famous folks. Each day of the year, Sarah Ban Breathnach weaves this information in with her own words of insight and wisdom to create a delightfully uplifting book of inspiration and advice.

I bought this book several years ago and never managed to keep up for more than a few days. This year I found out why. When trying to establish evening rituals to help with sleep, I began this book again. YOU MUST START AT THE BEGINNING. That's where I went wrong before. You can't just jump in on the day you happen to receive it. That said, you can start on Jan 1 any time you want. I did that in late Feb, and I've been "doing" two pages a day to catch up. I've followed the instructions and started a gratitude journal, and I've already seen small changes in myself and my attitudes. I'm more mindful of my words and actions, and I'm more conscious of the things I have to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to more changes and a richer life experience as I continue my journey through this book. It may not be for everyone, but if you're looking to live a more conscious, mindful life, this collection of essays and observations could just be the spark of change you're looking for.

Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy has been such a pleasure to read. It adds thoughtful consideration to facets of my life that have been overlooked for some time. I have found that this book has also opened up a dialog between my husband and myself as we read this together every evening before bed. I am learning to simplify my life and finding joy in that. What is left are the things (and parts of myself as well) that are truly precious. Being surrounded by THOSE parts of me, instead of the clutter of negativity, and unneeded STUFF, lets me truly feel the abundance life has to offer.

Central to Sarah's message is that living a life with gratitude, indulging in small pleasures, and asking for Grace every day will bring miracles to our life.
Sarah Ban Breathnach's wit and wisdom leads the reader gently on a path of self discovery. She doesn't ask you to make any dramatic changes to your life - she simply gives you some suggestions on how to improve the life that you've got.
From the simple delights of a well-organised linen closet, to the process of creating an Illustrated Discovery Journal, Sarah reminds us of what we have always known - that appreciating the simple things in our life will open our eyes to a world of abundance.

Congrads and special thanks to Azim and Harvey for giving us a deeper understanding and reminding how powerful GIVING and sharing is. The Power of Giving has helped me solidly in 2 areas:
1) It gives a wider definition of giving and envisioned me for learning to give beyond money. When I think of all the opportunities of giving I have throughout my daily life, I started living more fullfiling days. There are so many opportunities everyday for giving a smile, a compliment, valuable knowledge...Giving and sharing, thus serving, helping each other is part of purpose. It's great to be reminded this and shown the way.
2) I have read so many books on personal development, self-help etc. Of course it is vital to know what you want in life, learning to manage your thoughts, thinking positive, keeping a high motivation etc. But very few books talks about the actual POWER of giving. Giving truely creates a POWER within, it makes you feel more abundant, more connected, definetly much better.

This book is both inspirational and practical! I grew up listening to the motto "the more you give, the more you have" but despite this being ingrained in me from an early age, the act of giving can sometimes be a struggle. This book gives you options on how you can give (it doesn't have to be money) and reminds you of the benefits of giving (which are more vast than the obvious ones that come to mind). The anecdotes are touching and set the mood for wanting to give! Whether you are an individual (young or old) or an organization (big or small), this book is both a useful and pleasurable read and will cultivate your spirit of giving. It can even serve as a great gift as a gesture of your gratitude to someone who has given something to you! Can you tell I've read the book!?! ... and I plan to read it a few more times!

I have been a fan of Louise Hay for years, but recently determined to make a concerted effort to direct my life in ways that would benefit me. I ordered Hay's new DVD "You can heal your life" and was so moved by it and the accompanying DVD with full length interviews (I bought the expanded version), that I searched for more Hay material. I purchased I Can Do It and not only read it and underlined parts, but I have created cards with affirmations on them to carry in my pocket each day. I listened to the CD that comes with the book for several weeks and have so incorporated the material into my thinking that I'm much more aware of the negative thoughts I'm hearing from others and thinking myself. I immediately change my thought to a more positive one. I have given a copy of the book I Can Do It to both of my grown daughters and one of them has just told me how much she loves it, though I haven't heard from the other one yet. I love Louise L. Hay and this book and cd it just great. It would make a great gift for someone who is going through some tough times in their life and they need a little life. The positive messages on the CD are wonderful to fall asleep to.

An excellent companion book to Ms. Louise L. Hay's book, "You Can Heal Your Life." Nicely illustrated. It's a relatively short read, overall, with dozens of affirmations included that should be slowly absorbed and included in daily meditations to manifest positive changes in key areas of one's life.

By Lynne McTaggart
Lynne McTaggart's first book, The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe, documented discoveries in science that link us to a quantum field of energy, which ultimately becomes our manifested reality. Now through her new book she is providing the opportunity for people worldwide to take part in the Intention Experiment. She provides much-needed validation for the possibility of creating a new world through our thoughts. This is a great book that you can actually get involved with in a global way.
