I was disappointed in this book. I have read over 20 of her books and I thought this would give more detail then it did. There is some repetition if you've read her other books. Most of what I read I already knew or had experienced. I did enjoy chapter 8 as it did give more detailed information on certain life themes. I have several friends that read this book and thought it was great. One friend is on her third read of this book, but I personally didn't care for it to the extent I do some of her other works.
It was just okay.

Sylvia's books these days seem to be more full of, "fluff," than anything else. There is no more original content. This book seems to be more of her ramblings about the people she knows or meets in her life. There is of course a purpose and you need to read through all the, "fluff," to get to the point. I guess if she just flat out told you the point there would be 200 blank pages to fill.

I really loved this book. Those of you who have read Eckhart Tolle and enjoyed it would definitely like this book. Wolff's description of the surviving ancient cultures, how they live, work, learn, take care of each other, etc, was a great lesson to me. I also really enjoyed how Wolff describes feeling more connected to everything after spending time among "The People." I have always felt a connection to living things around me, but this book is helping me deepen that connection by simply being more aware of it.

This book challenges our traditional educational path. Without formal training and education, this remote civilization manages to live their lives supporting each other and remaining in rythym with the world around them. Even when offered the opportunity to partake of the "advanced" world outside of their native lands, they understand that there is nothing there that will improve their happiness and satisfaction. By paying close attention to the natural world around them and within themselves, these people individually learn everything they need to know. Unfortunately most of the civilized world does not recognize the inherent wisdom available from these sources and fails to include them in the educational experience presented to our children and young adults.

I've been interested in the experience of wilderness, how aboriginal peoples felt and how others feel in wilderness today. I've studied core malaise, a lonliness many of us feel because of our estrangement from nature and each other. Wolff is right to the point of my interest.

I loved this book beyond words. It evokes the world of the Senoi better than a fat anthropological tome would. Pure magic, and well worth it.
My only gripe is that the author, himself an envoy of civilization that is busy destroying the remains of the Senoi, does not seem at all to reflect on the fact that he is part of the world that is killing them, and not moved (as far as we readers know) to do something to counteract the juggernaut whom he serves.

This book simply outlines the basics of Wicca. It is not for the avanced practitioner. I bought this book for myself and ended up giving it to a girlfriend of mine interested in learning. Misleading title, but an excellent how-to book up there with Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft.

This is a good book, but the title is a bit misleading. The "Companion" is more of a book of shadows.
In any case, good book, good explainations. Might be a tad bit complicated in some area for the novice, but if you really are interested in learning more about The Craft and Wicca, you will persevere in the more "cloudy" area and found this book to be a good tool. But if you are a novice, this book won't be much help without the "Companion" once you've understood and mastered the use of your Craft tools.

I like Dorothy Morrison's books very much, and I do like The Craft (along with The Craft companion). The Craft is a very good 101 book, great for those that haven't read Scott Cunningham's "Wicca" or have no interest in reading that. Although I prefer Cunningham's 101 book over this one, The Craft is still very well-written with many exercises, rituals and such for really delving into Wicca. I didn't see any mention of raising energy (which is important) and the index left much to be desired.
Something that I really liked about the book was that Morrison also gave example rituals to perform on each full moon, with it's name and historical information - not just slapped-together sabbat rituals.
As I said earlier, it is a good "101" book, but it should not be the only one that someone refers to when wanting to walk down the path of the Old Ways.

I think that this book is a very good choice for the begining Wiccan, and I also think that there are some original ideas for more advanced Witches. The book's divided into 4 parts:
1. Basic witchery
2. Tools of the Trade
3. Circle Magic
4. Celebrations
Plus a 6 part appendix and a suggested reading list.
The tools of the trade section had some great excercies to really connect you with your tools. I enjoyed reading the esbat and sabbatt rituals, and plan to use some of her ideas in the future. This is by no means the only 101 book you should have, but I see nothing wrong with it, and enjoyed it throughly.

This is one of the best books I bought when I decided to do my own flowers for my wedding.
This is not a book for a pro though. It works best for a beginner like me. It explains nicely step by step how to make the arrangements. It could give more information but even still, there is no better book. There is a first version that I bought and together I got some great ideas.

Calvin is the hero of all children with wildly vivid imaginations. He has great fun with his stuffed tiger Hobbes, going on numerous great adventures, including an attempted trip to the Yukon. Calvin is fairly typical in the sense that such children tend to drive their parents and teachers crazy, yet when they learn to temper and channel their imagination, they often end up doing spectacularly creative things as adults.
Since I was one of those imaginative children who spent all of my time either reading or playing pretend scenarios in the kitchen, I can certainly relate to this inventive misfit. He is hilarious.

First, and foremost, it must be known: All Calvin and Hobbes are great. Yukon Ho!, however, is one that tends to rise above the rest. It's true this is one of the earlier books and includes the 9 verse tune The Yukon Song and has all the great cartoons, but why it seems to be more popular, I cannot say. All I know and can guarantee is that it's funny and is everything Calvin and Hobbes. From the beginning of the book where Calvin is convinced that he and Hobbes have traveled into the future (nope not with a cardboard box) it is too easy to appreaciate Calvin's motives. He's not after the secrets of genetic cloning or the what politician is waging wars with other countries. He's looking forward to floating cities and telling people in the present what he saw. And this is the real beauty of Calvin and Hobbes shows through. It's the quest of a six-year-old to have a good time with a furry friend. Rarely in a comic strip has such devotion and integrity of a kid been so accurately portrayed.
You'll chuckle at Calvin's dad 's explanation of the workings of a carburetor and the hilarious camping trip to a desolate rock that Calvin's entire family embarks on. Rosalyn appears again, and yes, again terrorizes Calvin. Calvin digs up dirt on his dad, which compromises his father's high-ranking position of dad. Calvin tries and fails to be the next Houdini and Susie and Calvin are assigned an a project together. All the way to the new and improved transmogrifier, it's pure magic, purely Calvin and Hobbes.
Yet more genius

You can always rely on Calvin and Hobbes to deliver the funnies. And if you're a keen reader, Calvin's unique (if rather skewed) perception of the world with keep the kid inside you alive (I don't mean this literally but as a metaphor). Unless you've been horribley deprived you'll pretty much all remember the magic of a snow storm or a sunset while sitting under a tree or an adventure in the woods or playing Monopoly with a tiger.
The title refers to a series of strips in which Calvin and Hobbes plan to escape the Yukon to be free of the repressions of family rules. Needless to say, their journey is cut short when Hobbes eats the only two sandwiches Calvin bothered to pack.
Any Calvin and Hobbes fan will already own this. Everyone else must buy!

GREAT GREAT GREAT Message except bad batch of CD's had to send it back to amazon. The recording production of the what amazon bought was bad. A botched recording segments would over lap each other at the end and beginning between each segment. I would suggest buying this set from Mike Dooley's web site if you want a good recording. 5 star on the message 1 star on the quality of the recording.

Save your money. The philosophy is simple - positive thoughts are better than negative. Yes, thinking positively about something can only help to lead you to it since it becomes a goal, but to imply that the universe will magically make it happen is hogwash. The author sites examples in his life that support his theory, but I say it's coincidence. If you drank a glass of water before each time you drove your car and you never had an accident, you could conclude that drinking water makes you a better driver or protects you while you drive. This is the same silly conclusion that he wants you to believe. "A drink of water protects while driving". Uh oh, I just gave him an idea for his next earth shattering inspiration.

First two chapters were very good, third chapter OK, the rest of the book
was just painfull to read. Author gives you irrelevant info about whom he knows and places he went to. His EGO is all over the place. On the top of it, he suggests you to actually "Replace" negative thoughts with positive ones. While reading this book, you just know that it is not it without thinking about it, if you know what I mean....

I will have to say that I do not believe that problems are illusions or can be treated as such, for that is treating the symptoms and not the cause. I think what Dr. Dyer is trying to say here is that we do tend to make too much ado about nothing. Dyer presents love, peace and hope in many different ways to reach many different people. He is sincere and his empathy with the human condition is real. I agree that God is from infinity a part of us, rather than trying to connect with him.

All of these spiritual self help books can be helpful to some and not, to others. I have always regarded Wayne Dyer as a populizer. I have not heard much that is original from him but he has a good nose for digging out gems of wisdom from other sources and bringing them to the general public in a way that most people can relate to. This is a true service.
I admit, here, that I have not read many of his later books, read some of the early ones and have seen him many times on public tv.
I picked this up in the library and found a lot that was genuinely useful to me. Much of it was a rehash of what I'd heard elsewhere but put in a new way that stuck me differently. I like all of the illustrations of how he and others have put these principles to work.
At times, though, I felt he was just grinding out another book, cuz that's what he does. Maybe he just needs a better editor or maybe he's so popular now that they let him write whatever he wants to. I thought that he made some of the statements too blithely--like making things seem too easy. Like "affirm your faith over your doubt" "give up fighting your problems" "you cannot have God and have faith too." As one who has tried for a lifetime to live by such principles, I don't find it always that easy.
