...if you know wonderful women--Women who are wise, brave, strong, enduring, and inspiring.
Since I know women who fit this description, the book fit into a niche in my heart that I hadn't realized was there. As I read through the pages I visualized different women in my life who have been inspiring and encouraging to me. Some are no longer here, but when I read the book I think of them and feel them close to me. This book makes me want to emulate them and remember the lessons they taught me.
This book is especially appropriate for a birthday, retirement, shower, or Mother's Day gift. It's also a great way to tell another woman how much you admire her.
I have bought four copies, and I will definitely buy more.

The book made no sense. It was a waste of time. A whole lot of non-sense. If you followed half its advice most people would think you were a selfish jack-ball.

Soul Communication by Zhi Gang Sha is a contradiction and an enigma. Based on one simple teaching - that everything has a soul and that all soul seeks to serve - it explains a core reality that Einstein was seeking to formulate, but does so in terms so simple that even a child can understand. Moreover, though completely unique, this book is eminently practical. A hundred years from now, when the skills it teaches - including Soul Language, Third Eye and Direct Knowing - have become more commonplace, "Soul Communication" will still be the revered classic. If you want a glimpse of the brightest new wave in the spiritual awareness that is sweeping the planet today, be sure to read this book. It is a profound gift to all humanity. Thank you, Master Sha.

While what I read seems very interesting, the reviews were pretty misleading, as they were all for the complete book, not for this short ebook that is basically a preview. It's one chapter, or part of one chapter of the complete book. This short does NOT give you the exact "how-to" of soul communication, but it does give you a sneak peek at what it's about for a fraction of the cost. Amazon really should keep separate reviews for the short and complete works.

So I read the reviews. With one or two exceptions, all the reviews were written within a week of one another and they all sounded remarkably alike. My guess is that students/followers of this author were sent a message after publication of this book asking them to write reviews. Who are these people trying to fool? I would expect his followers to like the book. I wanted to read what OTHERS thought of it. This completely put me off of buying this book.

This is one of the best books i have ever read!!!!!!!!! Especially on those that are hurting. It is balanced and its as if the writer knows exactly what you are going through. Anyone who struggles with depression should read this book. The author is so real and honest and her heart so true. i just gave this book to a girl who went into rehab. i gave her mine because i didnt have time to get another one. it was VERY hard to give up, but i knew that it would really help her. i am now looking to buy another one. this is not a book you read once. its a great book to refer back to over and over.

The Heartache No One Sees opened my eyes and helped me dig past the mask that I wear in order for others to think well of me. Instead of hiding behind a everything-is-fine mask, Sheila Walsh encourages us to be open to God's redemptive work, to be realistic about the needs that we have and to reach out to others who are also hurting and hiding. Sheila is a real person and very easy to get to know through her writing. I am so thankful for God's work through this book!

Wonderful book that will touch any woman's heart with so many practical and easy to see examples that we can use and relate to in our own lives, even those of us not on TV or with WOF or in the public eye. She is down to earth and honest and gives/shows HOPE with lots of practical questions at the end to ask yourself and think and pray about!

This is an excellent book particularly when you are preparing for the High Holy days but can be read at any time. It is full of readings from a wide variety of sources and includes poetry. Some readings are thought provoking others are informative and yet others are moving. There is something for everyone. I strongly recommend this book and its companion "Yom Kippur Readings". Both are excellent resources.
A superb companion volume to Elkins' previous title, "Yom Kippur Readings".

Edited by Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins, Rosh Hashanah Readings: Inspiration Information Contemplation is an anthology of writings by esteemed Jewish religious leaders and scholars, meant to be experienced and shared during the High Holy Days that mark the Jewish New Year, and the accompanying challenge of faith to undertake spiritual and moral self-examination. Most individual passages are brief, only a few paragraphs long, and therefore suitable to be read aloud at gatherings and celebrations, or with family and friends. Enthusiastically recommended reading to enrich the mind and spirit, and a superb companion volume to Elkins' previous title, "Yom Kippur Readings".

Although I may disagree with a few of his concepts, overall it corresponds to all I have learned over the years about the continuation of the soul. He backs up key elements with Biblical passages. He shows how our state of the world today is in many ways far from our soul purpose. He includes footnotes for further research. He includes many of these concepts in his practice as a doctor. A few sections were somewhat boring to me, but there were so many thought provoking concepts that I marked, that I am rating it 4 stars as a beneficial read for spiritual growth.

The author was just finishing boot camp when he died of pneumonia in Texas.
He doesn't really know what is happening, but, just like in dreams, he doesn't question little things like flying from Texas to Virginia. Later in life, he actually drove by the café in Mississippi he remembered from his NDE. I'll never look at a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer sign the same after this book.
George goes through the panoramic life review, and describes being taken through 5 realms, the 5th being celestial heaven.
As with everyone else who had an NDE, he came back with great spiritual insights. One of his best is, if you want to find out who your God is in this life, look back at your check stubs for the past 3 years and find out what or who you spent the most money on.
Everone who has an NDE brings back something a little bit different from everyone else, so every one of these books, no matter when it was written, is definitely worth reading.

I found it to have a strong biblical foundation. Beth Moore is refreshingly open and candid and non-judgmental but also challenging. I would have given it five stars, but the book seemed to run out of steam at the climax -- it just didn't come together in grand fashion like the first 3/4 of the book. But I'm really glad I got to read it, and I will be re-reading parts of it. This is my first Beth Moore book, and I will be reading others.

"Facets of Unity: The Enneagram of Holy Ideas" by A.H. Almas is a transformative book.
The Enneagram reflects nine personality types that form spiritual realities for you to experience through your interactions in day to day life. Keys are given to unlock 'fixations' in your life in order for you to move on and experience personal life transformation. Great insights expounded about enlightenment.
Powerful for freeing you from limitations.
Even better when read together with "Nexus" a New Age novel that is a true psychological and spiritual adventure.

Reading "Facets of Unity" was a transformational experience for me. I experienced my foundamental connection to all that is as I read it. Love and light became more real than the bed I was sitting on. My ego seemed transparent. I highlighted several key parts, and I regularly go back and read those when I need to reground myself and get perspective beyond my story.

This is truthfully the best book ever. If you know anything about the enneagram, this book will let you know what the enneagram is made for. Alright, it's fun to think about all the frilly little quirks inherent in the enneagram that the "other" books like to get stuck on, but this book is actually the real thing. The JUICE. The whole point lies between these covers. If you are looking at this review, you need to buy this book. Get it used if you are low on money, just get it and read it.

Touching, warm, gentle and precise. Almaas explains how we get fixated on certain enneatypes, and also points the way out of fixations. Reaching far deeper than the 'standard' personality approaches to the enneagram, this book really opens the gates to those who are seriously pursuing the Work of self-liberation.

Out of all the books I own, Alphabetica is the most insightful creative book on my shelves...and even though I just received it, I can already tell it will be a book I go to again and again. There is more eye candy than is possible to comprehend in a single sitting - and the ideas put forth by the artists in the book are nothing short of amazing. Ms Perrella had a stroke of genius with this book - and the pure talent she has is showcased beautifully in Alphabetica. The other artists in the book stand on their own, adding to the inspirational factor - each artist produces fascinating work. The interplay between each contributor is awesome - although each work is interesting and makes you want to grab your supplies, the pieces play well together - there is not one single instance where the pieces are competing for the spotlight. There is definitely something to be learned from every page of this great book - whether you are a novice artist, or find yourself further along on the experience ladder. Alphabetica is a book you'll refer to time and again - as much for technique ideas as inspiration. I'm definitely a fan of Ms Perrella's after reading this book - she fills the roll as writer very well, and as artist with raw excellence. This is a must have!

This is not a book for people who don't want to be messy. This is a book about digging into your art supplies and learning what they are for and learning the ones you love to use.
This book is truly wonderful in that it gives examples of top-in-their-field artist examples, shows many different styles of ORIGINAL work, tells the steps the artists used to get there, gives "Try This" ideas to get your wheels turning and finally, gives a small glimpse into the artist's studios and their lists of who inspires them.
This book does assume you have some knowledege of artistic supplies already. It does not give step-by-step instructions on "how to" do a journal page. It does discuss gesso, acrylic paints, dimensional items and so much creativity it is incredible. The "Try This" segments run throughout the book and give easy to find items and outlines for you and your creativity to explore yourself and your own style of work.
Fabulous!

I was disappointed in this book. Upon looking through the book, I decided that by far the most attractive pattern was the one on the cover. Many of the sweaters inside were large and shapeless (though many were not helped by the photography), and the others were uninspiring.
I was disappointed that many of the pieces were composed mostly out of stocking stitch and simply featured cables. Even the sweater on the cover features this style to a degree, but unlike the sweaters inside, the placement of the cables is so artful that one hardly notices the stocking stitch.
I enjoyed the author's descriptions of the various cables and their origins. However, I didn't like the way she integrated these cables into actual sweaters or hats. Therefore, I'd recommend this book only if you wish to see her cable ideas and design your own sweaters using them, or if you are willing to buy the book solely to knit the design on the cover.
Finally, choosing a book is obviously partially a matter of taste. My taste runs to Aran designs and fisherman's sweaters, and if your taste is similar you also may not enjoy this book.

I don't know what I expected when I ordered this book, but I definately got more than I was expecting. If you love cables and Arans, you'll be very happy. But if you like more subtlety, there is also a lovely men's sweater featuring runes--yes, RUNES!!! Lavold has managed to translate them all into knitted patterns, and the effect is stunning. If you have a drop of Celtic blood or any interest in the culture at all, you will love what you see here. Don't miss this book.

This is not a beginner's book, unless you buy it for inspiration and something to aim for. It's a great coffee table book, even if you don't intend to knit anything.
If you are a fan of, and like to knit cables or Celtic knotwork, this is the ultimate book for you. Also, for Medieval reenactors, this has tons of information for documentation, although you should be aware that no knit patterns here are accurate.
There are really two kinds of things in this book, although they are intertwined.
The first is the projects. There are sweaters, coats, a pillow (with a dragon on it--Fafner), an afghan and more. They are all stunning, with designs taken from historic finds and adapted for knitting. There are some very unusual pieces here. There are new techniques used in cable/knotwork construction, but they're just old techniques adapted to cables. The designs, are innovative, new, clean, modern, and wonderful! There's even a child's pullover with "Kiss me" in runes!
Then there are the discussions of museum pieces and the designs that spring from them. There are cables, knotwork designs and the entire elder futhark (runes) charted that can be used by an experienced knitter on her own designs.
Elsebeth Lavold has taken motifs from ancient artifacts and adapted them to knitting with wonderful results.
I should mention that I keep saying Celtic Knot because the Vikings and Celts were very close in their art, and inhabited a lot of the same territory during this Viking period, and it's a little hard sometimes to separate the art. Also, the phrase "Celtic knotwork" has become popular, but I've never heard the phrase "Viking knotwork," although knotwork was prevalent in both cultures art.
If there were a fire, and I could only save one knitting book, this would be the one.

Excellent in every way! Another crown in aran knitting, along with "Aran Knitting" by Alice Starmore.

Having spent years of listening to stories told by my Bedstamor about Denmark and all the lovely places she used to live near that had an abundance of Viking artifacts, it was a thrill to see many of the Viking symbols described in those stores come to life in the sweaters! I adored the detail about where each design came from along with a photo of the artifact that inspired the cable pattern.
This book is fantastic for lovers of history, Scandinavian art, and knitting. It has helped to inspire many designs for knit gifts that go rather quickly. All the individual cables knit very quickly and are easy to memorize, though they do have very intricate twists and turns at times.
This will be a book I pass along to all the knitters in my family.
