Targ has ventured where no scientists have ventured into. His story is woven into a fabric of CIA intrigue, Lasers, ESP, Love, and the meaning of life.

Targ is an accomplished writter and author, scientist, and futurist. He provides convincing scientific evidence for a spiritual component to our world and existence. I have been interested in healing the rift between science and spirituality for over 25 years, and Targ's contributions provide tangible examples of the spiritual from rigorous scientific experiments.

I expected this book to deal more with the author's work than it did. His very interesting work life was glossed over and the book mainly delt with his personal life, which I did not find that interesting. So if you what to know what Russell did, read one of his other works. If you want to know about his life, read this one. Overall, I was very disappointed with this story.

There are memoirs that inspire and biographies that make you question common perception. Do You See What I See? is something more than both of these things.

In this book, the author shares his life, his exploits, and his insights. Here is a man born with very limited sight and prosopagnosia (a condition which causes face-blindness or the inability to recognize faces). That he learns to read, studies physics, becomes a top researcher in laser technology is fascinating. That his journey also leads him to an interest in ESP, working on remote viewing for the CIA, and a study of common perception versus illusion is beyond anything I could have expected. Oh, his brother-in-law was the late Bobby Fischer and he legally rides a motorcycle.

Do You See What I See? made me feel like I was having an extended personal conversation with the author. The work isn't set up chronologically but I think in this case that works to this story's advantage. It gives the work a casual feeling while at the same time gradually opening up the reader to a different perspective, perhaps even an entirely different way of thinking.

This story covers in an autobiographical manner a contemporary of mine who has accomplished many things in science....lasers, remote viewing, psi....There are a few things I knew about people that I did not know about...He is instructive as well as entertaining...A bit of a scientific background might be helpful as he courses from the physical to the non-physical world...

Informative and great book

I bought this book on the advice from a friend. It is very well written, informative and not a dry book at all. The writer gives a very informative synopsis of his life and how ge began as a remote viewer and does lead the reader into the practice if they choose to give it a try. This is a book that I will keep for reference and further reading.Do You See What I See?: Memoirs of a Blind Biker

I have read several of Sylvia's books and they are always informative, uplifting, and infused with a sense of humor. Other reviewers have commented how Sylvia has a tendency to repeat information from earlier books. That is true, but certainly does not detract from the new information she offers up in this book. And...it's nice to get a little "refresher" every once in a while!!!
Keep them coming, Sylvia. Your Light is so needed in the world today...and thanks to Francine, too! I think she works as hard as Sylvia does to get the information out to the public!! :)

I was disappointed in this book. I have read over 20 of her books and I thought this would give more detail then it did. There is some repetition if you've read her other books. Most of what I read I already knew or had experienced. I did enjoy chapter 8 as it did give more detailed information on certain life themes. I have several friends that read this book and thought it was great. One friend is on her third read of this book, but I personally didn't care for it to the extent I do some of her other works.

This is most definitely a 5 Star book & also a 5 Kleenex read. The writer is a real human being & definitely a real dog too. His descriptions made it seem like I was right there every step of the way . What a beautiful story and a beautiful tribute to Man and his Dog. Even , what normally would be very dry commentary on the history of dogs, was most interesting to read. He made the technical information very easy to understand and has the talent to make it part of the story. I learned so much about dogs and even more about humans . What a wonderful read. Don't miss it even if you aren't a dog lover. It touched my heart and my emotions like no other non-fiction book every has .

I just read this book last week, and I couldn't put it down. Just as good as Amazing Gracie and Marley and Me. Well written and very insightful. Entertaining stories and interesting scientific research on the development of dogs from wolves. I picked up some good information on handling my own dogs. I'll be reading this again.

Great book about the observations and insight of a dogs life. They do live for the moment but more to with unconditional love & a master of a companion. When you love your dog there are no boundary between you and the dog but a good partnership right to the end. You begin to see humans have more rules & limits than dogs, you'll discover dogs don't care how they look or care what day it is. More than that everyday is a good day its the moment of how it starts off, after that its a day, thats how they enjoy their lives, knowing they have a master or buddy around.

It has been a week since I have finished this book and I can't stop thinking about it. I don't live in the country or live off the land like the author but I could still relate to everything. I love the fact that he made his own assumptions and opinions and never pushed it on the reader.

For those of the readers who were disgusted by the owners behavior with Merle, I laugh. He let this dog be exactly who he was. He gave him direction and corrected his behavior when he felt absolutely necessary. Let's face it, dogs weren't meant to be couped up all day in a house or apartment. I would definitly give my dog the opportunity to roam free if I could.

His love of his dog made me feel that the feelings I have or had for dogs weren't silly. He believed dogs had true emotions and feeling no matter what has been said. A truly magical book that took me on a journey that I will never forget.

If you are a dog lover than this is a must!

Whenever I am having a difficult time with someone or having trouble understanding myself, I look to this book. It helps me understand myself and others and adapt and tolerant the differences in all of us. Highly recommend!!

I've spent a lifetime trying to figure myself out, and this book did it in just a few pages. I cried because it was so accurate and validating to how I had been living my life. Better yet, who I could become, but it is up to me. Hence the title DESTINY.

Let me say right off the bat, I am a skeptic, but still I loved author Gary Goldschneider's first two books from this series: the Secret Language of Birthdays and the SL of Relationships. But this one, THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF DESTINY is a bore.

Rather than offering two pages to each birth date, as Birthdays did, or a half of a page as Relationship did, this book gives the reader a short 1/4 page paragraph that allegedly sums up the destiny of those born in each of the 48 personology periods. This information is so general and by the way so boring that it could relate to anyone if in fact you don't fall asleep reading it.

For this reason, I do not recommend THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF DESTINY.

what is your life's purpose / your soul's mission - this book might offer insight. It is rather huge (in both size and number of pages), and it is true that only a few pages in total pertain to any one person, but I am still very happy to own it (when I can get it back from my friends :))

My karmic path was dead on accurate

Review Date: 2007-02-09
Although the book didn't go into GREAT detail about my Karmic path, it went deep enough, to where I understood what steps I needed to take in order to live a balanced life. In fact, the results I got from this book were 100% the same as "The Life You Were Born to Live". Same deal, about grounding and structure being my biggest obstacle.

This book would be tremendous to have on hand, when you meet new people, or get into a new relationship, so you can learn more about the person. I instantly looked up the birthdays of past relationships I have been in, and they were certainly accurate. It was definitely pretty cool to see that. All in all, interesting book. It's a HUGE book, but yet doesn't cover things in depth. It's enough to wet your whistle though, and I think it's well worth the money.

This book is loaded with fun and funky ideas for any artist. Some reviewers mentioned that they believe the ideas contained here to be geared more toward altered book artists, but I disagree. Out of all the books I own, Alphabetica is the most insightful creative book on my shelves...and even though I just received it, I can already tell it will be a book I go to again and again. There is more eye candy than is possible to comprehend in a single sitting - and the ideas put forth by the artists in the book are nothing short of amazing. Ms Perrella had a stroke of genius with this book - and the pure talent she has is showcased beautifully in Alphabetica. The other artists in the book stand on their own, adding to the inspirational factor - each artist produces fascinating work. The interplay between each contributor is awesome - although each work is interesting and makes you want to grab your supplies, the pieces play well together - there is not one single instance where the pieces are competing for the spotlight. There is definitely something to be learned from every page of this great book - whether you are a novice artist, or find yourself further along on the experience ladder. Alphabetica is a book you'll refer to time and again - as much for technique ideas as inspiration. I'm definitely a fan of Ms Perrella's after reading this book - she fills the roll as writer very well, and as artist with raw excellence. This is a must have!

This is not a book for people who don't want to be messy. This is a book about digging into your art supplies and learning what they are for and learning the ones you love to use.

This book is truly wonderful in that it gives examples of top-in-their-field artist examples, shows many different styles of ORIGINAL work, tells the steps the artists used to get there, gives "Try This" ideas to get your wheels turning and finally, gives a small glimpse into the artist's studios and their lists of who inspires them.

This book does assume you have some knowledege of artistic supplies already. It does not give step-by-step instructions on "how to" do a journal page. It does discuss gesso, acrylic paints, dimensional items and so much creativity it is incredible. The "Try This" segments run throughout the book and give easy to find items and outlines for you and your creativity to explore yourself and your own style of work.

Fabulous!

I purchased this for my wife along with several Hannah Hunnard books of my youth. She has fallen in love with this book. Her eyes shine each day and she rereads today's portion again when she gets home for the office.
I have started reading it too and she is so right; perfect beyond expectations so I bought more and others of the same author to give away.

I've bought several copies over the years for family and friends and it's the most beloved book and heart touching devotional I've ever read. I've never read it cover to cover, but instead pray for direction and open to where I'm lead. God has never failed me and spoken to my heart every time through these pages. I would love to buy one for everyone on the planet.

After 8 years, this book still challenges me to walk intimately with God each moment of the day.

I enjoyed reading this book so much that I ended up seeking out other books by this author. It's not just a book filled with "feel-good" advice, but the ideas are backed by research studies that prove the ideas work.

This is one of those books that you can read from cover to cover, or just read little bits and pieces whenever you want. Each of the 100 "secrets" in the book is explained in a page or two. There is a quick two or three sentence summary of the secret, followed by more information or an illustrative example, and concluded with the statistics or study that backs up the idea.

The ideas were definitely things I could put to good use. Some were things I already knew (although it was nice to see them backed by research studies) and others were ideas that I hadn't really thought about before. Some of the secrets include:

Exercise
Volunteer
Pay Attention. You may have what you want.
Try to think less about the people and things that bother you.
Friendship beats money
Accept yourself - unconditionally

I found this book to be a fun and positive read while providing great tips that can easily be put to use. I'd recommend this to any reader - and it would make a wonderful gift!

I enjoyed many of the exercises in the book but found a lot of it to be a little more complicated than I like my magic. I prefer things simpler. As far as the naked woman on the cover being tacky, I personally thought it was a beautiful picture. Many wiccans to practice there craft skyclad anyway.

Okay this is a review towards almost all of Silver Ravenwolf's books. I will not use any of it because from my own personal experience it has never helped me. Some people have stated that she goes on about disliking other spiritual paths such as Christianity and for one that's not really why I disliked her books at all. As a matter of fact these people really need to reread her or maybe they never actually read her books in the first place. Her husband is a Christian (if I remember correctly) so how can she 'hate' christianity?

I disliked her books because I found that they were way to fluffy and lovey dove for my taste. I found her research laughable at best but in a sort of entertaining sort of way. It seems that she takes herself way to serriously and needs to re-re-research the facts and open her mind a little but than again who doesn't?

I guess some people may get value from this book but I myself found it not for me but others might place value with what she writes.

I would not recomend this book to anyone, let alone the poor novice that picks up this worthless and sometimes dangerous piece of dribble. Her past books are none too better. I was born into a pagan family, so I did not have the problem of coming out of the "broom closet" and neither did my four children. However I am extremely disappointed with Silver's encouragement to hide\lie to the parents of her younger readers.
Also the spells in the book are rather vauge and incomplete in most cases and contradicting in others. The section on "Spirits" is down right frightening. PLEASE....Do not use these Spirits without some real research.
Being from a pagan family I seem to be the dumping ground for her books. I wouldn't even give one of these away because I believe them to be less than worthless.
Remember........LET THE BUYER BEWARE.....such truer words have ever been spoken about this piece of repetitive fiction passed off as WICCA.

When my (christian) aunt came into my room about one week ago when I was playing with my cousins, my immediate reaction was "Oh no, she's going to think I'm corrupting her children with what she thinks is a 'Satanic, evil' religion." When I reflected upon my reaction, I realized I was judging my aunt, and Christianity, and that I, I was the one who was being judgmental and persecuting her. Silver Ravenwolf's books do slam Christians. I totally bought into her slander. Who doesn't want to feel better than one third of the world, more enlightened than one third of the world? Everyone wants to feel like they know secrets that other people do not. Everyone wants to be "right." I was/am no exception. If you want tolerance, it is not in these books, although they preach tolerance.

I have also come away with a paranoid attitude toward Wicca/Witchcraft. I feel like it is forbidden, hated by society. Silver Ravenwolf encourages teens to hide their practice from people for fear of persecution. Maybe she is right, but I feel scared to even TALK about it. That is not an attitude that anyone should have about divinity or their chosen religion.

Also, if you asked me to define "Wicca" or "Witchcraft" I would give you a very vague answer. I do not know the difference - what have I been practicing?! I could tell you some stuff about paganism, but not Wicca.

Well, I have begun studying ceremonial magic out of "Modern Magic" by Donald Michael Kraig. I have not read any reviews of the book, but I feel like I finally have an idea what I am supposed to be feeling in the rituals I perform. Kraig is very clear about what is factual history and what is mythical "history." With Ravenwolf, spellcasting techniques were so vague that I felt I had no solid base to work from.

The only way to practice a religion is the way it is meant to be practiced, not any way you feel like it. Even Wicca, a new religion, does have core beliefs that need to be adhered to. You can't just study the occult in general and consider yourself Wiccan or a Witch.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER. YOU WILL ONLY GET WRONG AND VAGUE INFORMATION. I WAS MISLEAD BY HER BOOKS.
