All in all a remarkable book . I hope they write more. The combination of scientific and practical information is stunning, and so down to earth, unlike the airy fairy stuff that is published nowadays.

Thorough survey of Thought Forms as well as a Complete PracticeReview Date: 2006-02-24
I disagree with others' criticism that book is too chatty and here is why: If you do know about the mind, you know that some parts of the mind learn and remember best when stories are used to facilitate. This book creates thoughtforms for you, to help you learn about thoughtforms, and it does so with interesting stories and histories thrown in as examples in-between practical work.
This is not a heavy reader, so don't let the other warnings of length deter you, it is enjoyable, easy to understand and still full of depth.
Here are some of the things you will learn about if you read this book:
The nature of astral matter, how it behaves and how you interact with it regularly, and how you can interact with it consciously to cause results.
Basic and easy instructions to complete advanced thought forms.
What it is like to visualize and create objects on the astral plane.
Methods for improving your skills at visualizing.
How to create astral dwellings.
How (and why) to dismiss a thought form once it's use is finished.
You might benefit from taking notes on the page numbers of any practices in the book that you want to try, though there are exercises listed separately in the appendices.

Soul Wisdom, Mystical MessReview Date: 2008-08-30
The premises of the book are two:
1) There are souls in all things, guiding principles that make the universe work, and lessons life teaches us for which we ought to be grateful.
2) If we chant a number sequence in Chinese so fast that we're no longer coherent, we'll start speaking a mystical Soul Language that puts us in touch with the Divine.
The author should have stopped with point 1.
I don't doubt that there is a Divine. There may well be a way to get in touch with Him, Her or It. But I don't think chanting to the point of incoherence is the trick that everyone's missed till now. Yes, the chanting's fun - I did try it. But I think the peaceful feeling following comes because you've gotten the brain to disengage and aren't saying anything, not because you're suddenly channeling God. Most likely, this Soul Language is mild, self-induced hypnosis.
What's saddening, and maddening, is that this book does contain a lot of Soul Wisdom. The passages on gratitude for the ills life brings are sweetly hopeful, the discourses on the universality of souls are well worth thinking about. But the best of this book is buried beneath a pile of mysticism and "Divine Downloads" of the sophisticated fortune cookie variety.
Some of the reviewers have nothing but positive things to say, positing the author as a spiritual figure who has changed their lives and who will change the world. I'm glad they've had the experience and wish them all the best. But if I had a friend who was looking for a way to work through troubles and find new meaning and purpose, I'd be too concerned about the claims about Divine visits and Soul Language taking him or her further off course to recommend this. Better stick to Dyer and Chopra, or even The Secret.
Oh, brother.Review Date: 2008-08-29
Before getting far into the book, there were many red flags. Sha talks of "power" and "treasures" (things far removed from wisdom), of "secret codes" (one of which looks like the zip code for Honolulu with '33' tacked on the front) and ridiculous phrases like "Divine Downloads" and "Divine Soul Transplant of Divine Golden Light Ball and Golden Liquid Spring of Divine Soul Language". We are told that "this is the first time in history that the Divine has released these soul secrets".
It soon becomes very obvious that Sha is not offering wisdom, but a form of religion. Portions of the book even resemble christian catechisms and chants in church hymnals. Sha tells us to chant nonsense syllables faster and faster until our pronunciation is slurred, and that's our soul language.
None of this is wisdom, it's just self-promoting obfuscation with rote and rituals that get in the way of actually thinking and learning.
I would call this book worse than a complete waste of time. While reading it, I repeatedly had the thought that if I had absolutely no respect for other people, I could write drivel like this and cash in, too. The idea that it is all about selling things and not about wisdom is supported by the catalog of things you can buy from Dr. Sha on the last few pages.
The "bonus" CD is not an audio CD, but contains a 14 minute MP3 file of very repetitious chant. It disturbed my kitten when I played it, and I don't blame him one bit.
ummm.... NO!Review Date: 2008-08-29
I have strongly supported and cheered the holistic focus that has finally found its way to the mainstream. I have also watched a stream of New Age fluff find its way down that path as well. This book would fit into that category for me.
There are "downloads" that you can mentally Absorb. There is pretty langugage and not a great deal of substance. Although the credentials listed on the book sound quite impressive, I also have to realize they were written by someone paid to spin the book impressive.
Then I turn and look at the substantive work that people like Jon Kabat Zinn have done for thirty plus years and the clinical research that backs up their claims... and I think I will simply pass this fluff by for something with a little teeth.
Included in the book is also a CD. Wow. I'm not even sure how to describe my take on that. Going into the recycle bin!

This book is interesting in concept, but does not come through in fact. I found it to be boring and touching on some sameness with other books written by this author.
I would not recommend this unless you are a fan of the author and want to complete your collection.

EmbarrassingReview Date: 2008-08-27
I give it two stars only because some of its ideas were interesting, though obviously hairbrained. I just...I just can't get over how terrible the writing was. Someone else mentioned it read like it was written by an eighth grader--I completely agree.
What's worse is that someone decided to turn it into a movie! No wonder it ended up getting 4% on [...].
Really, really bad. Really.
Well ... it didn't make me angryReview Date: 2008-08-01
I have to admit, the ideas are interesting. Even some of the philosophies I agree with strongly. But there just seems to be a push for humanity to believe that we've evolved enough to harness the metaphysical energies of the Universe in the ways described in this novel.
And it is a novel ... some folks seem to forget that.
We are made up of the energy of said Universe ... but we are 3 dimensional beings. Yes, our evolution has sped up quite a bit over the last hundred thousand years, but to see non-visible energy, to vibrate our bodily energy beyond what it does normally ... it just doesn't jibe.
I guess I'm too much of a scientist to believe in the fantastical ... yes, "I want to believe" but practicality just kicks in and I'd rather spend my time and energy in Reality.
Having said that ... even when I removed the scientist (kicking and screaming) from the picture, the story didn't hold me. It was like reading a series of lectures tied together with a rather thin plot that seemed to think it was speeding along but slows to a creep when the lecturer starts again. So even when a grain of salt, I found this a bland experience.
Sad too ... there are some very important ideas in this book concerning the role of religion and self-determination in modern society.

Inspiration for authors who need a reason to complete their bookReview Date: 2008-01-05
When faced with questions like the above, you'll want to reach for your copy of this book. It's a compilation of anecdotes and essays by a variety of successful individuals whose lives were changed by a book that they read. Contributors come from all walks of life; the only thing they have in common is that the turning point in their life was a book they read.
"You've Got To Read This Book!" is a "gratitude" book that provides a way for the contributors to express Thanks to the authors who changed their lives. This book can also change YOUR LIFE by inspiring you to continue writing a book that will have a similar effect upon your readers.
This is also a great guide to refer to if writer's block hits you while writing a book, and you need a reason to continue working on it (other than that you've already spent the advance!)

FOR THOSE WHO GRIEVE, THIS BOOK CAN BE LIFE CHANGINGReview Date: 2008-04-18
How can I begin to describe the "Omg, this makes sense" awakening I began to feel as I read page after page, chapter after chapter? This book changed my life - and that is an understatement! Reading Matthew became the catalyst for a series of sychronicities that led me down many intertwining roads in my own journey towards healing, spiritual enlightenment, my own purpose in life, and eventually the supreme joy of communicating with my own daughter.
To say that I highly recomend this book is also an understatement. I wish more people knew about this book, so I hope you'll all spread the word after reading it. It is a definitive must read for grieving parents and anyone else who has lost someone special in their life, or for those who ask, "Who am I, and why am I here?" (In fact, that was the one question I asked, that led to this book and everything else since).
I wish all of you a most remarkable and joyous journey of your own.

The best treatment of Biblical InspirationReview Date: 2000-07-04
Marshall asks many questions, such as "What Does the Bible say about its own inspiration?" and "How are we to interpret the Bible?" The book is made up of 125 pages of answers in plain English. Marshall's view may not harmonize with many people's view that the Bible is totally inerrant, and that there can be no error, whether historical or grammatical. However, I must say I found his treatment of the issue to be extremely relevant after I took a secular Bible course which emphasized the inconsistencies in the Bible. In a way Marshall helped me keep the faith after taking such a class. Don't think that Marshall obscures the facts. He does not twist anything to keep his theory from falling.
I must say I enjoy his writing style tremendously. I rarely became uninterested when reading this book. I wanted to find out what was on the next page, mainly because his answers were so important to me spiritually at the time. I would recommend this book for those who want a well thought out, and even-handed (Marshall presents the strengths and weaknesses of all popular theories of inspiration) treatment of the issue of Biblical Inspiration. Anybody can benefit from reading this book, even if he or she does not reach the same conclusions of the author.

compassionReview Date: 2008-04-26
My favorite story is "I Thought I was Over That"
Ariel and Shya are genius in a non-judmental seeing of how we are and don't
try to change, fix or make us better.
These stories give us compassion for ourselfs and I never, ever before
experienced Enlightment in such an easy, light way.
A Magical ExperienceReview Date: 2008-08-13
I find myself picking up this gem of a book whenever I want a connection into all that's possible in life. The beautiful thing is, I don't have to "do" anything to experience the richness of the moment. Transformation is a technology that the Kanes have discovered and share generously with all who want to experience the perfection of "now". If you're looking for magic, this is the real thing.
Be Here, NowReview Date: 2008-04-29
In a chapter called A Cluttered Desk is a Sign of Genius, Ariel talks in simple, straight-forward terms about finding well-being in the seemingly impossible task of keeping her desk clean. I responded to this immediately. I seem to live at a desk in perpetual disarray.
At Shya's (her husband's) prompting, Ariel slowed down at her desk work by no more than 5%, and actually spent a little bit of that slightly-decelerated time with each object on the desk. She gave each piece of paper its due attention, not long, and each piece of paper and the work it represented was completed. In doing so, she has kept the desk clean of clutter since. I have employed this strategy on my own desk, and have succeeded, not permanently, but often, and for longer spans of time each time.
The subtitle of this invaluable little storybook is Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment, and it's very fitting. Ariel and Shya teach a technology called Instantaneous Transformation that takes everyday occurrences like a messy desk and transforms them into opportunities in the present moment (Now) for well-being, and yes, even enlightenment. Their other books go into great detail about this technology, and are just as quick, easy, illuminating reads. They are Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation and How To Create a Magical Relationship.
For anyone who's into Eckhart Tolle's books The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, and A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61) (like I am,) I strongly recommend the Kanes and their books. You can learn more about the Kanes at www.TransformationMadeEASY.com. They are amazing teachers, dedicated to bringing well-being and enlightenment to normal people, and easily.
An insightful and deeply moving take on lifeReview Date: 2008-04-20
One of my favorite metaphors in this book is the idea of "backing out" of upsets.
The author's, Ariel and Shya Kane, suggest that upsets are in fact mechanical, and often based on ways we handled situations in early childhood - but that, with awareness, we can in fact 'catch' when we are on the slippery slope of an upset BEFORE we have to go all the way down that slope.
You can find yourself well down the road to upset and -without recrimination or judgement - just say to yourself 'oh - this is an upset' and BACK OUT, just like you might if you suddenly looked up and found yourself driving down a one way road the wrong way. You wouldn't keep driving the wrong way, you wouldn't sit there and tell yourself how horrible you are while traffic is coming at you - you would put on the brakes and back out.
Well that is exactly how they suggest you deal with an upset when you suddenly discover you are in the midst of one. To make the choice to back out instead of indulge the desire to get further upset, whether it be angry, sad, depressed - there is a choice!
I just love this idea that upset is a choice - life presents stuff, but upset isn't the only next progression, there are lots of options.
An insightful and deeply moving take on life - Many thanks to the authors, Ariel and Shya Kane.
I also highly recommend How To Create a Magical Relationship by the same authors.
A True DelightReview Date: 2008-06-23
I would highly recommend this book as well as the Kanes' other two books, Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation and How to Create a Magical Relationship. These books can bring you out of an ordinary life and into a spectacular one. Reading the words in this book took me on a journey by teaching me about an easier way to live my life. With stories about Intuition, Love, Compassion, etc. the Kanes' teachings of Instantaneous Transformation is presented in such a way that is easy to understand.
