The Success PrinciplesReview Date: 2008-09-16
The most progress you'll ever make in your lifeReview Date: 2008-09-16
I had many dreams that I shelved or discarded because I was told (or told myself) they were unrealistic or that I didn't have the time or the money. The chief principle I learned from this book is that if you want it enough, you can make it happen! You are the only one that can.
Since reading this book in January (it's now Sept), I am now on my way to earning my degree by enrolling in school, I've increased my income by 20%!, received a promotion, lost 30 pounds, broke off that dead-end relationship, cleaned and organized my house, became vegetarian, and feel empowered! There are many more smaller goals that I've achieved as well. I'm just amazed at how productive I am.
The best part is that I now believe it's possible to achieve my dreams no matter what anyone says or what the cost is. I see now that all it takes is belief, willpower, and action. I wouldn't be 30 lbs lighter if I didn't find the time by waking up at 5am every morning to exercise. I wouldn't be on the path to my degree if I didn't enroll and schedule in the time for courses. I would still be waiting for the day...
Other people have achieved their dreams, it's our turn! If they can do it, so can we. This is what Jack Canfield has ignited in my heart and I am so grateful for this book. It has given me solid principles and techniques on how to go about making effective change in my life. If I could bring one book to a desert island, this would be it.
Since then I have given several copies to others because I feel it's such a great gift.
I wish you all the best but more importantly, I wish you the happiness of making your dreams a reality.

A Well Marked Road...Review Date: 2008-08-31
While achieving success is rarely accomplished with shortcuts, this guide provides what I believe are important guideposts that will keep you on the right trail. Many people fail to achieve success because they leave the trail for other pursuits.
It is really surprising in the business world at the number of people who really do not know what they are trying to achieve. Indeed, I would dare to say that most people don't have a clue as to where they are going. They are simply meandering down the path hoping for few problems and a warm place to sleep at night.
This book stresses the importance of people deciding what they really, really want to do in life. My only negative critique is that the book seems to define success in financial terms (which is par for the consumer American nation). As the wiser amoung us know, success takes many forms of which money is only a small part.
I enjoyed the book and intend to share the wisdom therein with other managerial types within my organization. I believe the advice is solid and obviously, the author is "qualified" if for no other reason that his huge publishing success.

PowerfulReview Date: 2008-10-01
Deep, complex characters, far and beyond the black and white tropes one sees in the genre today are in these pages. A poignant sense of realism clashing with an uplifting sense of idealism and fantasy defines the conflict of each character. Deep questions, "such as can we change who are?", are posed, the answers left to the readers.
Follow a complex plot, full of twists and reversals of perceptions, with the most intricate characters and evocative imagery, and arrive at a powerful conclusion -- that is The Last Argument of Kings.
Good Read, "Real" charactersReview Date: 2008-09-29
On the whole, this is a rather Machiavellian tale that I really enjoyed. The dialogue was very good and the problems the characters faced were believable as were their solutions.

I didn't want it to end!Review Date: 2008-09-20
My biggest complaint of modern epic fantasy is that too many series consist of tombstone-sized doorstoppers by authors who don't have the discipline to complete books in a timely manner or the gahonas to even finish the story. Finally, a trilogy comes along during which I don't grow older waiting for the next installment and is truly only three books long.... Then, I only find myself not wanting it to end.
The Blade Itself and Before They are Hanged consistently build the momentum of The First Law trilogy with the determined speed of a freight-train unknowingly headed for a washed-out bridge. The story does conclude in Last Argument of Kings but only after several jaw-dropping twists that you'll never, ever, see coming. But, like every great legend, it leaves just a few things unfinished, so this story does end, but you can always hope for more.
I found the characters to be so unique, interesting, and brutally believable, that I could not do them justice by describing my favorites briefly enough to keep this review at an appropriate length. The action is both savagely violent and undeniably realistic. It's scary to think that the intrigue and ruthlessness of the story's ruling powers may be all too close to reality.
I loved everything about The First Law. From the clever writing, the beautifully done covers, and even the real quotes used at each part's title page -- they all combine to enhance the experience of a truly original and thrilling fantasy epic. My only criticism is that I would've liked just a tad more visual descriptions, but Mr. Abercrombie's genius for dialog and character narrations easily makes up for that, and then some. I can't wait to see what Joe Abercrombie does next.

the best book on logical reasoningReview Date: 2008-10-05
Notice that the conditional reasoning, formal logic, and parallel reasoning sections are probably the most helpful sections. However, these questions are by far the hardest on the logical reasoning section. I recommend saving them for last to make sure you get done in time, since they are the most time consuming. (Before I read these sections I incorrectly thought conditional and logical reasoning was far to easy to be worth studying, since I had an engineering background.)
In short, I recommend the following study method for the LSAT:
Introduction to the test: Look at the free stuff from LSAC
Logic Games: Read the book "Ace the LSAT Logic Games", by Get Prepped.
Logical Reasoning: read the book "LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible", by Power Score.
Reading Comprehension: don't read any books that tell you to highlight and underline stuff, you won't have time to finish the exam. Instead, read a bunch of novels to improve your reading skills if you were never much of a reader before. So ladies, read some romance novels, and guys well you know what to read.
Kaplan/Princeton Review: I don't recommend wasting any time with either of these books. They are much too basic. If you want to study for a couple weeks and just get familiar with the test, then these are fine. However, you won't do your best if you rely simply on these general books.
Lastly, make sure to put down all study books the entire week before the test and simply do practice exams.
Best prep for Logical Reasoning I've foundReview Date: 2008-09-22
I took the TestMasters class, thinking it was the Test Masters course by Robin Singh, but it wasn't. If you want to take Robin's course, make sure you are looking at the right website (testmasters180.com, not testmasters.com). It was the worst online course I could have taken. The instructor for Logical Reasoning WAS AWEFUL!! Sometimes, he would just give you the right answer to the question, but wouldn't tell you why the others were incorrect. He also didn't give you insight into how and why the questions were designed. If you want more info on the course before you take it, I would be more than happy to share my experience with you before you spend $900.
I wish I had checked out this book first. It would have saved me over $800 bucks!!!

This book helped me get into a top school!Review Date: 2008-08-26
My advice to applicants is to pay special attention to essays and recommendation letters. If the writers are too busy, write one up for them (call it a template) and let them edit it. That way you can get them to say what you want them to say more or less.
Spend a LOT of time on the essays, they can make or break you more than the GMAT. Read them over and over again, read them aloud, have someone read them to you and have them reviewed by someone who got into the school you want to get into. The sample essays in the book were great to know what kind of information the admissions committee would look for. I took as much as 30 days of every day work to get my essays in the form that I was happy with.
Montauk's book guides you through this process and that was the only book I used.
