I found this book by accident and what a happy accident it was! At that time I was in a crappy relationship feeling as if I was just keeping my head afloat with work, life, my daughter and the lot of it. As a single parent it's easy to give into the most convenient path and feeling like a martyr to boot.

I had many dreams that I shelved or discarded because I was told (or told myself) they were unrealistic or that I didn't have the time or the money. The chief principle I learned from this book is that if you want it enough, you can make it happen! You are the only one that can.

Since reading this book in January (it's now Sept), I am now on my way to earning my degree by enrolling in school, I've increased my income by 20%!, received a promotion, lost 30 pounds, broke off that dead-end relationship, cleaned and organized my house, became vegetarian, and feel empowered! There are many more smaller goals that I've achieved as well. I'm just amazed at how productive I am.

The best part is that I now believe it's possible to achieve my dreams no matter what anyone says or what the cost is. I see now that all it takes is belief, willpower, and action. I wouldn't be 30 lbs lighter if I didn't find the time by waking up at 5am every morning to exercise. I wouldn't be on the path to my degree if I didn't enroll and schedule in the time for courses. I would still be waiting for the day...

Other people have achieved their dreams, it's our turn! If they can do it, so can we. This is what Jack Canfield has ignited in my heart and I am so grateful for this book. It has given me solid principles and techniques on how to go about making effective change in my life. If I could bring one book to a desert island, this would be it.

Since then I have given several copies to others because I feel it's such a great gift.

I wish you all the best but more importantly, I wish you the happiness of making your dreams a reality.

The best for any business and your life

I pick this book up almost every day and read and re-read all this helpful information. The more I put it into action, the more wonderful things happen in my life. There is so much information to learn from Jack Canfield. I tell everyone I know about it especially other artists and creative people. So exciting to have a book that will help me be who I truly am in my life.

A Well Marked Road...

As a corporate director of HR for a fortune 500 company, I am continually searching for material I can share with the management staff. This book was an excellent fit in our learning resources center.

While achieving success is rarely accomplished with shortcuts, this guide provides what I believe are important guideposts that will keep you on the right trail. Many people fail to achieve success because they leave the trail for other pursuits.

It is really surprising in the business world at the number of people who really do not know what they are trying to achieve. Indeed, I would dare to say that most people don't have a clue as to where they are going. They are simply meandering down the path hoping for few problems and a warm place to sleep at night.

This book stresses the importance of people deciding what they really, really want to do in life. My only negative critique is that the book seems to define success in financial terms (which is par for the consumer American nation). As the wiser amoung us know, success takes many forms of which money is only a small part.

I enjoyed the book and intend to share the wisdom therein with other managerial types within my organization. I believe the advice is solid and obviously, the author is "qualified" if for no other reason that his huge publishing success.

I hope you find this review helpful. Michael L. Gooch, SPHR - Author of Wingtips with Spurs

This book is essential to install electrical installations. It basically was created by the National Fire Protection Agency it explains how to install electrical systems so that you do not burn down the house or building down that you wire. It does not teach you how to be an electrician, but it does give you the basic guidelines legal guidelines as to how to install electrical systems. Sporte1111

When I ordered paperback (bound as from publisher) and the book arrived looseleaf punched for a 3-ring binder, we didn't know until we opened it. I posted a review here to save others from the same problem but don't see it anymore. I know that Amazon will get a handle on all the different formats this book come in, and when tabs can be used. The info is available on the NFPA website so it should be easy.

I gave the 3-ring binder version to a buddy so now I want to buy AND RECEIVE the bound conventional paperback version but I can't get an answer from Amazon if the problem is corrected. I don't want to order again and get another looseleaf copy.

I came across the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership in a leadership training program at my company. It's a great book because it's very practical and the advice points you in the direction you need to head if you want to succeed as a leader.

Another book we read in the class that I highly recommend for leaders is The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book

The subject matter of the book is really great, but in my humble opinion, the delivery of it is pretty boring. I purchased the book to pre-read before sending off to my 23-year old daughter (recent college grad) and I know it won't capture her attention...it didn't capture mine.

I found "The 21 Laws" to be all that it's hacked up to be, and I think I've read most of the Leadership tomes. Now I have luckily found the new book called "Going Beyond Leadership of Character" by West Point author Norman Thomas Remick which took me to the next step in leadership, trying to become not just a good leader, but a great leader. You might say, like the book, "Good to Great", shows you what makes some companies go from being good to being great, the book, "Going Beyond...", shows you how leaders can go from being good to being great. After reading the Maxwell book, and then going further by reading the Remick book and putting it into action, I think I'm on my way. That's why I recommend "The 21 Laws" and "Going Beyond Leadership of Character" to everyone.

Review Date: 2008-10-01
In the end, there are few books that are as powerful as The Last Argument of Kings.

Deep, complex characters, far and beyond the black and white tropes one sees in the genre today are in these pages. A poignant sense of realism clashing with an uplifting sense of idealism and fantasy defines the conflict of each character. Deep questions, "such as can we change who are?", are posed, the answers left to the readers.

Follow a complex plot, full of twists and reversals of perceptions, with the most intricate characters and evocative imagery, and arrive at a powerful conclusion -- that is The Last Argument of Kings.

Good Read, "Real" characters

I think the thing I enjoyed most about this book (and the series in general) is that there really aren't any characters that you would classify as "good" or "bad". Like in real life, everyone is a mix of both.

On the whole, this is a rather Machiavellian tale that I really enjoyed. The dialogue was very good and the problems the characters faced were believable as were their solutions.

Book three of the trilogy continues the fast pace of this gripping (if somewhat violent) story. The characters are developed and matured: certainly by Book 3 their natures are well understood, but the unpredictability of key characters remains to keep the reader on his/her toes. There are twists and turns enough to keep anyone enthralled. A ripping yarn!

I didn't want it to end!

I just finished The First Law, Book 3: Last Argument of Kings and I can't remember the last time I read a series this exciting, if ever.

My biggest complaint of modern epic fantasy is that too many series consist of tombstone-sized doorstoppers by authors who don't have the discipline to complete books in a timely manner or the gahonas to even finish the story. Finally, a trilogy comes along during which I don't grow older waiting for the next installment and is truly only three books long.... Then, I only find myself not wanting it to end.

The Blade Itself and Before They are Hanged consistently build the momentum of The First Law trilogy with the determined speed of a freight-train unknowingly headed for a washed-out bridge. The story does conclude in Last Argument of Kings but only after several jaw-dropping twists that you'll never, ever, see coming. But, like every great legend, it leaves just a few things unfinished, so this story does end, but you can always hope for more.

I found the characters to be so unique, interesting, and brutally believable, that I could not do them justice by describing my favorites briefly enough to keep this review at an appropriate length. The action is both savagely violent and undeniably realistic. It's scary to think that the intrigue and ruthlessness of the story's ruling powers may be all too close to reality.

I loved everything about The First Law. From the clever writing, the beautifully done covers, and even the real quotes used at each part's title page -- they all combine to enhance the experience of a truly original and thrilling fantasy epic. My only criticism is that I would've liked just a tad more visual descriptions, but Mr. Abercrombie's genius for dialog and character narrations easily makes up for that, and then some. I can't wait to see what Joe Abercrombie does next.

The best I've read in a looooong time

Mature, fantasy readers must read this. If you haven't read The First Law trilogy, go buy it. Now. Abercrombie has an amazing style, characters and plot development, and more importantly...the entire series doesn't have a single character or word more than it needs. Absolutely the best I've read, in any genre, for a long time.

The PowerScore LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible: A Comprehensive System for Attacking the Logical Reasoning Section of the LSAT

the best book on logical reasoning
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-05
This book is very good and is very detailed on every type of question. Plus you can actually remember what you are suppose to do on each type. The only down side is that it's very long. But if you want to do your best on the LSAT, you should read this book. Give yourself a month on this book alone.

Notice that the conditional reasoning, formal logic, and parallel reasoning sections are probably the most helpful sections. However, these questions are by far the hardest on the logical reasoning section. I recommend saving them for last to make sure you get done in time, since they are the most time consuming. (Before I read these sections I incorrectly thought conditional and logical reasoning was far to easy to be worth studying, since I had an engineering background.)

In short, I recommend the following study method for the LSAT:

Introduction to the test: Look at the free stuff from LSAC

Logic Games: Read the book "Ace the LSAT Logic Games", by Get Prepped.

Logical Reasoning: read the book "LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible", by Power Score.

Reading Comprehension: don't read any books that tell you to highlight and underline stuff, you won't have time to finish the exam. Instead, read a bunch of novels to improve your reading skills if you were never much of a reader before. So ladies, read some romance novels, and guys well you know what to read.

Kaplan/Princeton Review: I don't recommend wasting any time with either of these books. They are much too basic. If you want to study for a couple weeks and just get familiar with the test, then these are fine. However, you won't do your best if you rely simply on these general books.

Lastly, make sure to put down all study books the entire week before the test and simply do practice exams.

Best prep for Logical Reasoning I've found

Review Date: 2008-09-22
If you truly want to understand how logical reasoning questions are structured, how to analyze the questions to determine the best answer, this is the best prep I've found so far.

I took the TestMasters class, thinking it was the Test Masters course by Robin Singh, but it wasn't. If you want to take Robin's course, make sure you are looking at the right website (testmasters180.com, not testmasters.com). It was the worst online course I could have taken. The instructor for Logical Reasoning WAS AWEFUL!! Sometimes, he would just give you the right answer to the question, but wouldn't tell you why the others were incorrect. He also didn't give you insight into how and why the questions were designed. If you want more info on the course before you take it, I would be more than happy to share my experience with you before you spend $900.

I wish I had checked out this book first. It would have saved me over $800 bucks!!!

Highly recommend!

This item along with the Powerscore Logic Games Bible are must haves for LSAT study! I wish I would've spent more time on this book though. I took the June 2008 LSAT and receieved a 153. My logic games section was my best with 21/23 correct. I know that if I study this book more that I could definitely improve my score, which I plan on doing this upcoming October 4 LSAT! I've already pre-ordered the Powerscore Reading Comprehension Bible which will ship on Sept. 4 from Powerscore's website because that's by far my weakest section. If it's anything like the other books then it should be a big help!

An Absolute Must - Forget About Kaplan

50% of your score on the LSAT is tied to Logical Reasoning. You may think you are hot on this subject, but everyone can benefit, and should benefit, from detailed study on the subject. Logical Reasoning should be where you make up for points lost in the Logic Games. This book, with real LSAT examples (not imitations) will help you do this with well-expressed strategies to check your answers and to eliminate wrong answers - that means you SAVE TIME! Pay a little extra for this if you are serious about Law School. As for a Kaplan book? I got suckered into it over this book, at first. The comparison? Take your Kaplan book and use it as a coaster or kindling in the fireplace. Kaplan is useless.

Though I ended up not having much use for this book due to my professor's distinctive teaching methodology, I still found it helpful in clarifying the basic concepts of Torts. The author injects a slightly dorky sense of humor into the narrative, which makes the information more accessible and easier to grasp. He also has a very clear, conversational writing style. Overall recommended (at least if you don't have my Torts professor).

These books, on the other hand, are perfect for prepping for the LSAT. There is nothing like the real thing.

I used the previous edition of the book in 2006 (green cover) and it helped me get into a top 5 business school. In fact I got into both the top 5 schools that I had applied to.

My advice to applicants is to pay special attention to essays and recommendation letters. If the writers are too busy, write one up for them (call it a template) and let them edit it. That way you can get them to say what you want them to say more or less.

Spend a LOT of time on the essays, they can make or break you more than the GMAT. Read them over and over again, read them aloud, have someone read them to you and have them reviewed by someone who got into the school you want to get into. The sample essays in the book were great to know what kind of information the admissions committee would look for. I took as much as 30 days of every day work to get my essays in the form that I was happy with.

Montauk's book guides you through this process and that was the only book I used.

I am currently in the process of applying to some of the top schools and have talked to a lot of current and recent grads, all of whom swear by this book. It walks you through all the steps required and the right way to approach the situation. I had my first round interview last week and knowing how the different schools differ in their approach helped tremendously.

STILL TBD on if I'm successful in my bid for the top schools but so far, I feel I'm getting all the right insider tips from this book.

Easy reading, inspirational and definitely a muust read! Another book on the same subject Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook approaches the subject through a workbook, journal and exercise format. I recommend this one also.
