The "germ book" is the one my toddler asks for over and over again the most. It's a fun book, with lots of opportunities for fun voices and hand gesturing. And guess what? Now she likes to wash her hands! And please rest assured: your kid won't become an obsessive-compulsive germophobe after looking at this book. The author's goal is NOT to scare kids into washing their hands every 10 minutes, but simply to get them to wash up before eating. Watch for the germs to go "swirling, whirling down the drain" with your child, and she will look forward to keeping clean and have fun while doing it.
In all, it's a fun, educational book. The dialog is rythmic, repetitve, and memorable, which even a 2 year-old can appreciate.

As another reviewer suggests, this is a great book to get children to do what you want them to. Never mind that it entails lying to children, treating germs as vicious invaders who look like hammers and do things they don't in reality (for instance, causing headaches). Insulting and manipulative. It's books like this that cause people to become obsessive-compulsive.

Fun teaching book

Wow! Some people really don't like teaching kids to wash their hands. First of all, most parents or teachers know that no book is a stand-alone for any given topic. Of course more discussion is necessary. Secondly, anyone who has spent time in a room full of little kids can see that they touch every available surface, wipe their nose, and put their fingers in their mouths. Trying to keep them from getting the bug that everyone else has is practically impossible, but washing hands frequently does help. And realize, people do go to the hospital as a result of some of these bugs.

My children (4-1/2 years and 20 months) enjoyed this book. My preschooler liked the pattern and emotion of the story, and my toddler liked the photographs. I can't say it made them want to wash hands any more, but at least it introduced them to the idea that we need to wash the germs off. I must add that I didn't really like the idea of one germ, the worst germ, staying on the girl's hands after she washed them, but it didn't seem to bother my kids. I would have liked to have added in the story how soap helps the water wash the germs off, since my preschooler will rinse her hands with water but sometimes puts up a fight about soap.

Excellent Book

Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-25

Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-15

Contiene 19 capitulos, ordenado bajo tres secciones principales.

Terapia, refiere a sanidad, a curación, a remediar.

If you or your little one is a Disney fan you will enjoy this & the other Spanish/English Disney books. This book is easy to read in either language; has great illustrations with kids favorite Disney characters. It does a great job of continuing to expose your kid to a variety of Spanish words & language structure. It is a board book so it is sturdy for many ready. Kids 1 1/2 to 5 will still enjoy this; then older kids can read it themselves.

This book is my 18 month old daughter's favorite book of all of the Baby's 1st Disney Books. She really enjoys the bright colorful pictures. What I like in this particular book, is that it sticks with the same theme throughout the entire book. Dopey's bedtime routine includes cleaning up, taking a bath, brushing his teeth, having a cup of water, getting ready for bed, having a story read, and having a lullaby sung to everyone. My daughter likes to look at the pictures, and tell me what she sees, she sees everyone doing dishes she says "Clean Up", she see's dopey taking a bath she says "Bath"....

This is the version in spanish from the book Sexual Secrets. It's a great book and focuses on tantra and taoism. It has a lot of beautiful illustrations and has a lot of "secret" techniques for your sex life. It's really about sacred sexuality and covers all aspectes of it. Truthfully, one of the best, if not the best.

Holds attention of babies

We started reading this book at 5 months. By 8 mos my son would point to familiar objects like the spoon with food on it. It is long enough to have substance, but short enough to hold the attention of the youngest reader. Minimal words, mostly drawn pictures. My son is a year now and still likes it; this one features common phrases like "Hold still," and "Go to sleep!"

Cute series!

We read these books when my son was about 18 months. He was resisting diaper changes and nap time. After reading this books he would say, "Jeffrey PU" and let me change him. The end of the book shows the mom cuddling with David with David's eyes closed. We talked about how he was happy and sleeping. We would read it at bed time and nap time and my son would be okay going in his crib with no fuss after reading it. Now my son is 2 1/2 and David has come to the rescue again. In "David goes to school" there is a page where David needs to go to the bathroom. This simple book with wild illustrations helped my son pee in the potty for the first time. Super. These books are great!

Oh, David, I love you!

My nine month old absolutely LOVES this book! It's the craziest thing; he literally squeals with excitement when I read it to him and tries to turn the pages in anticipation of what's next. I end up reading it over and over (which is not difficult since the whole thing has about ten words) because he gets very upset when it ends. Yes, it is utterly simplistic, but it is also surprisingly captivating for little ones. To those who criticize: I am sure this book is meant for those with very short attention spans and little knowledge of the English language. It's a BABY book!

We received this book as a gift when my son was born, and he's been captivated by it from about 4 months old even till now, at age 2. Simple words but lively illustrations with just enough humor to make it interesting to parents as well. I recommend the whole series of "diaper david" books and can't wait for my son to get a little older to introduce "No David" to him.
