I have read the book Santeria: A Practical Guide to Afro-Caribbean Magic and sadly to say that this book promotes the stereotypes about the religions associated with Santeria. It reveals the physical properties and most of them being negative showed a dark side that Santeria has to offer. For anybody interested on the subject, this is not the book to go with. I encourage readers interested in the subject of Santeria to continue their research on the subject and not to let "Santeria: A Practical Guide to Afro Caribbean Magic" be a conception of how the RELIGION really is. This is not to say that there are people who use Santeria to achieve selfish ends. But the realistic outlook on the religion is not contained in this book. This book contributes more to the demoralizing of a religion that is trying to regain its respect from so many years of misconception.

I wandered onto this book on the web and ordered it. I just finished it last night and I loved it! I wish it was longer but I found out that Christina offers several cds on her website so I'm going to look into those soon. (
It's refreshing to read a book that that combines angelic content with information about our ascension process from the 3rd dimension thru the 4th and into the 5th. This book was great validation for me on many levels and it's written in such a conversational way that it's like talking with a dear friend. If you are a fan of Karen Bishop's lightworker books, as am I ...you will resonate with Christina Lunden too.

Christina writes the book in simple, easy to understand language and leaves you with a feeling of empowerment that you too can have direct communication with your angels just like she does. The messages from the angels are inspiring and encouraging. The book will leave you with some questions, but this is good because it gives you the burning desire to connect to the angels for yourself and begin to receive the information on your own.
Maybe she will write a follow up book with more answers for those who aren't comfortable enough to trust their own connections yet. I also recommend scheduling a private angel session with her in person or over the phone. I actually met with her before I read the book, and I was very touched by the loving messages that came from "my" angels that only they would know. We are never alone, for they are always with us, waiting to assist and help if we will only ask for them to intervene. My life has a new etheral quality now as I see that everything has a divine purpose and even the "past" that may have been difficult was for a purpose in my spiritual and soul growth. You will definitely be glad you had your session and will walk away from it with tools and insights that can help you in your walk, not to mention a new sense of hope that no matter what, there are angels watching over you and wanting the very best for your life.

Christina Lunden's book, The Angel Connection is a wonderful book. I ordered it, received it one day and was finished reading it by the next day--and this is not something I usually do. But it's such a joy to read, so compelling, and full of great practical guidance for connecting with our own Angels--and staying connected. The way she shares her personal experiences throughout the book is great--it brings these Divine teachings back to Earth so we all can feel and know these Angelic experiences are within our own reach, too. If you're at all interested in learning more about your Angelic companions, I whole-heartedly recommend this book.

wow! this happened to me too, I wont go into as many details as you, but she was a charlatan, went on the advice of a friend and she was off her rocker, nothing she said made sense or came true, never went back and my friend shortly after stopped seeing her too because she realized she could not predict anything, she was reading into everything, since she has looked far and wide and has yet to find ANYONE who truly can SEE ghosts or predict the future

I really am saddened to see that someone would take the time to use this space to write all about their personal problems, and blame the outcome of certain situations on Yolanna. I have been a client for many years. She is excitable and funny and a truly caring woman. She is real, not a liar and definitley NOT A FAKE. Nearly everything she predicted that would happen for me did. I have a suspicion that unhappy person above just did not listen, or follow the advice given. Having an open heart is also required to understand the messages. If she rambled on to my receptionist, as she does above, I wouldn't call her either. The problem is hers, not Yolana's. Hans Holzer is well respected and vetted. You can believe him. The book is a fantastic resource for those seeking the truth. If, however, all you want to hear is the sound of your own voice, you're better off going to the pub with your friends and boring them.

I'm passing on this story with the hope that someone else out there will be spared the expense and feeling I have of being suckered that I now have after visiting a well-renowned psychic, Yolana Lassaw, who works out of her home on Manhattan's East Side and is recommended in the book. I'm sorry if it's a bit long but please read it. It may just save you hundreds of dollars and self-doubt and confusion of going down the road that follows the purchase of this book.
In 1996, I went to see Yolana for the first time. I was impressed with Yolana immediately - she was very good at naming people in pictures without any help. She predicted I would be married in the next year to year and a half and the man I would marry would be in her words "freakin' wealthy". She described how he looked, what he did, she said he would have dogs, and kept insisting his name was something that started with a J. "I know it, I know it, I know it," she said.
A year and half later I went back. Hadn't met this man and to be honest a lot of other things she predicted didn't happen either. (Yes, I know, the question is why did I go back?) She described the same man, said her timing was off but it was honestly just right around the corner. So between 1998 and this year, 2004, I went to see Yolana once every one and a half to two years. She was always very good at naming people in pictures I just handed to her and describing their personalities or health. This man and the two healthy babies she predicted I was going to have were always a matter of months away. "I know it, I know it, I know it," she said. She had a nice hee-hee-hee kind of laugh and always made little inferences as if we had known each other in a past life. While I think she had a good read on the past, to be honest, the predictions she made never quite came true. And I already knew what my past was so what was I paying for or looking for?
So this year, I finally met a man who's name didn't start with J but he did have dogs and he was very wealthy and he did work in the job that Yolana had described. I called Yolana right away and brought his picture in. Even though I had just met this man, he had asked me to go away with him and made it clear he was thinking long term and wanted to marry me. I asked, of course, "Is this the one? Is this my soulmate?" She said, "Yes, if you want him. It's up to you." Well, two dates later, my soulmate became very verbally abusive - it was pretty much Jekyl and Hyde. It was also clear I could not marry this man or even continue to date him. I called Yolana for a follow up - BTW, Yolana costs $600/hr or $300 for a half hour and she occasionally will answer follow up questions for you. You'll never get to speak to her though - her assistant Ben or her daughter Melody will take a message and call you back. So I called for a follow up and explained to Ben my soulmate appeared to not be my soulmate. So what is going on? Ben calls me back and tells me Yolana says this man will be back and it's up to me and I have to lay down the law more or less. OK...
Here's where it gets ugly...Within the next month, my company was sold and there were a lot of power plays going on in my office. Restructuring was in the air and I was concerned for my job. Prior to the sale, I was due a promotion. Now that the sale had gone through, certain executives were trying to switch my reportage without giving me the promotion which had been on hold for a year due to financial problems with the company. Even though I had just been to Yolana a month earlier, I made another $300 appointment.
In March 2004, she told me my job was safe. The promotion would come through although probably I would decide to leave my company within a year to pursue a more creative job. She told me this long awaited for soulmate would come back. As I left, she said, "I love you." She had always seemingly been kind to me. So I thought, how nice, this person, this psychic person loves me. Kinda of like a mother or friend or aunt. I asked her to lunch. "On me," I said. She said, "No, I'll take you. I'll have Ben call you and set something up."
Ben didn't' call so I called Ben a week later to follow up on lunch. He said Yolana was off on a case for the police and he would call me. A couple of weeks later I checked back in. She was still on the police case.
So a few weeks later, I get a call from Ben. Is it to schedule the lunch? No, Ben was calling to invite me to Yolana's for a special egg reading that she does once a year at Easter time for her special clients. "Yolana thinks the world of you," he says. "Wow" I say, very flattered. "Is this something I have to pay for?" Ben replies, "Yolana usually charges $1000 for this reading but since you are one of her special clients, she's only charging $300." I said I would call back. I must have had sucker written on me. I declined the reading but I realized it pretty disingenuous to be saying "I love you" to people and then not really want to have anything to do with them if there's no money on the table.
At the end of April 2004, the department that I ran at my company was dismantled and I was demoted. I was shocked and foolishly called Yolana's office with a follow up question since this was the exact opposite of Yolana's prediction. I spoke to Ben and gave him the update but the office never called me back. I called back a week later, spoke with Melody, Yolana's daughter. Yolana had broken her ankle she said and was in pain. She was trying to avoid medication since it made it difficult for her to do readings but was only doing new bookings, no follow ups.
So the final part of this story is I was laid off at the beginning of June with about a third of the company from the job that Yolana was certain at which I would be promoted. Even though I had seen it all coming myself - which is why I was asking the questions - I was completely unprepared psychologically or emotionally because I took Yolana's predictions or psychic advice or "entertainment" if you want to call it that, to heart. In addition, I had parted with money at a time that I really should have been saving it.
I am very practical and responsible in most things in my life. I've been a little irked at myself from time to time over the past few months. I kept spending money on Yolana's "services" over the years without ever having any benefit from them. I was completely unprepared when my job ended. And I wonder how many times I may have overlooked a good man because he didn't fit this profile of the guy that Yolana created that I then carried about in my head. I guess I just have had a little hole where I am afraid and I want assurance that things are going to turn out OK. That's a normal feeling I believe but psychic advice is not the way to fill it.
So, 5 months later and I can tell you, the guy still hasn't called, the soulmate and babies must still be around some corner of time-space, and most shockingly, while I don't doubt that Yolana still "loves" me (or is at least probably throwing that word around with other clients), we still haven't gone to lunch.
What I know for sure, "Know you already that which you need". So save your money and respect your own feelings. And buy a book that will help you do the work on yourself instead of a sending you to someone to do it for you.

to learn about Kabbalah. I've read it around 3 years ago and became curious to learn more. The knowledge that I have received and USED since then has transformed my life. I still have the same spouse of 9 years - not my desired soul mate, I must confess. But I've changed and learned how NOT to be reactive, of how to USE the tools Kabbalah has to offer, etc. Why am I writing it is here as a review? Simple. This book started the journey - it had that power over me, it is that interesting! I've read it non-stop cover to cover in one day!

I have just recently started studying the Kabbalah. Although I am 30 and tradition says to wait until 40 to delve into the Kabbalah, I have found this book to answer many of the spiritual questions that I have had most of my life as a "religious" person. This book will help you make sense of your life, explain why bad things happen, and will serve as a guide to explore your soul. I have not found a better book on reincarnation. Buy this book now!! It is worth it!!

In short, this book is practical, simple, yet very deep. It's been about 5 years since I have read this book, and it has only steered my life to positivity, self-realization, and happiness. It's been 5 years! And all of a sudden I feel compelled to right this review, while surfing on the Web - Why? Maybe to repay the good it has give me.

After reading the reviews in this section I purchased this book. Though I think the topic is great and the book has some good points, I am quite at a loss as to why it's so well received. The author seems to know his subject and did adequate research, but I found both his writing style and his own thinking and conclusions to be obtuse and not worth the time it takes to read (search vainly) for them.
He seems to like to hear himself think, often using long wording and passive language that makes one wonder what is his point and what is his personal view. So, I'm not convinced because he doesn't seem to say things clearly enough that you even know why he's talking about what he's talking about.
Also, he starts to use Astrological signs to make some of his Kabbalistic (?) points. It's very possible that my level of spiritual development keeps me from absorbing all the book offers, the depth of his thinking. But the point is to write in a way that as many people as possible can get the message, right? Let's just say that at least one person really didn't get much out of it.

Rav Berg is wonderful. There is nothing like picking up a book expecting fluffy spiritual ideals only to be slapped in the face by stark intellectual reasonings. Those that are truely searching for spirituality will find it here if they can get over the shock of sound rational reasonings and hard driven knowledge. This book makes it clear that while the Kabbalah is a spiritual goldmine it is also equally scientific. The material in here is useful to both Jewish people as well as non-Jewish people and explains clearly that astrology is as much a part of creation as we are and explains just why Kabbalists tell us that it is a way for us to understand our place in the universe and how important that is.

This book is a quick summery of Castaneda's life and written work in a comic book form. If you knew nothing about the man, it would be a good idea to pick it up, not worth buying new unless you keep a Castaneda collection.

Although this book does contain some interesting insights into Carlos Castaneda's background, it seems to have not even been proofread. Besides all the typos and unlegible type fonts, I was distrurbed to find that most of the material described in Castaneda's books had been misquoted, shortened, or completely fabricated.

This book ties together everything that CC said in print (and even has some accounts of what he did in tangible life, out of the public eye) in a remarkably cogent way. It makes a good reference text to consult instead of having to thumb through the non-indexed Castaneda books, and combined with Victor Sanchez' _Teachings of don Carlos_ would be a powerful approach to living a deliberate life. Don't let the title fool you, as even long-time CC afficionados can see new things here. He also brings up some concepts I've never seen in the books. It's definitely worth a read.

This is an incredibly bad book, really! It provides some insight into the background of Castaneda, the man, and as such might prove interesting to read for those who already are familiar with his books, but it gets the philosophy all wrong. It manages to kill all the magic of Castaneda. My advice: If you have already read his books, borrow this one. You are not likely to want to own it anyway. Beginners, avoid it at all cost. It can only mislead you. The background of Castaneda himself is not what his philosophy is all about.

Compared to the Dan Juan's teachings in the books of Carlos Castaneda, there is something bizarre about Theun Mares's books. Not that they aren't interesting, but, not to overlook the obvious, he does seem terribly full of himself and self-important. His mystifying self-myth is a hoot, to put it most politely. Then, I don't see how all that twaddle by Mme. Blavatsky got into his books unless her ghost also wanted to get into the act. That aside, some of the Toltec teachings are, in fact, in these books of Mares, and one can derive some benefit from reading them, as the information is arranged as a neat inventory. However, the non-inventory of Castaneda's books, I feel, is far more to the point. It was not meant to memorize all the Toltec material like a grocery list. Something smells peculiar about Mares: his books read somehow like neo-fascist "warrior" cult material. For true Toltec Technology, read Castaneda, Ken Eaglefeather, Florinda Donner-Grau and Taisha Abelar. Victor Sanchez has something very good to offer, and the two books attributed to the man called Tomas are also very good. To go one step further, of you are really interested in Toltec ways, it will also be to your advantage to study the Aztec calendar. There is profound wisdom therein. Also it is to your advantage to find out about Mexican Curanderismo. I will recommend a book called "The Woman Who Glows in the Dark" by Elena Avila. You can learn something very important in that book. Mares is a strange one; interesting but strange. Something is severly warped.

Because you want to know - so that you can TAKE STEPS TO CHANGE- which is why you read these books.
What does Theun Mares want to achieve with these books? Read my first sentence...
I recommend all the books, read in order.
Most of us do not go to Mexico to apprentice with a Nagual. If we are to change, our own real life is where we need to apply the teachings in a way that is effective HERE.
Theun Mares offers a clear and practical description so that you can apply it in your life. So, his examples relate to stuff we can relate to.
This is great because such understanding can guide action to create real change...
Is it sometimes 'hard reading'? -Yes, do YOU WANT TO CHANGE -or not? Well, it takes effort...
On critiscisms of Mares and his works:
- How many times do we read: "It's hard to describe with words"? Still that's how we learn, and that's how Theun Mares can get this through to you.
- Mares does not write like Castaneda -why should he?
- There are many lineages, who, like most systems, change metaphors and terms to suit the real world needs of effective communication. How would 'the teaching' survive otherwise?
- Self-Importance: When people ride out to slay voices on Toltec teachings, what are they actually trying to achieve?

Theun Mares' books are amazing. I don't understand the negative criticism by some readers below, but then we do always see in others what we don't want to see in ourselves, don't we? These reviews are the best example for it.
In the end of the day you will have to read the books yourself. Why would you belief someone else's judgment? Do you feel drawn to this book?
I read it and it changed my life forever.

From what I have learned so far, that part of humanity's ancient heritage called the Toltec Teachings is a wealth of knowledge so vast that a single lifetime is far too short a time to ever hope to grasp even the smallest fraction of it. Theun Mares, like Dr. Castaneda before him, has come forward to do his part in making sure that the teachings reach as wide an audience as possible.
I recommend Return of The Warriors to all those who seek freedom and knowledge and who find The Path With a Heart a path worth taking.

What a privilege that Theun Mares is now disclosing the Toltec teachings through his series of books. Through his books, Mr. Mares provided me with a set of tools, which through consistent application in my life, are gradually but surely changing my life. Where before I was growing more cold and detached, and wondering if my life would ever have a sense of meaning and purpose, my heart is now opening bit by bit. There are no gimmicks, no quick fixes, just hard work applying simple tools over a lifetime.
I was initially drawn to the Toltec teachings through the works of Carlos Castaneda. At that point in my life, I was fascinated by the supernatural and the thought that there were alternate realities that could be experienced. But though the Warrior's Path as presented in those teachings brought many benefits into my life, the sense of fulfillment was never there. Something about all the magical stuff just seemed to still leave me empty inside. Mr. Mares' presentation of the Toltec teachings are grounded in real life, daily life, and I'm learning that that is where the real magic occurs. The magic of changing oneself.
