The teachings of Eckhart Tolle are based on universal truths which the student will recognize immediately as foundational to finding true peace. This particular CD is filled with the wisdom teachings gathered from other presentations or retreats. While possibly redundant at times, the ever true bears repeating because we forget. The biggest problem with this particular CD is the sound quality. It is very poor and at times Tolle's voice is all but obliterated by the hissing noise of the re-make. It is not audience noise but technical deficiencies which make this CD an unsatisfactory product not up to the standards of Sounds True.

The Angel Hunter
This CD had been my guide for several years now. Eckhart's tranquil voice and the ease of which he delivers his simple yet powerful lessons are mesmerizing. If you are looking for some insights into real spirituality, not religion, listen to this set. He makes no claims about Jesus or any other deity being the one true religion or spiritual practice. In fact, he says if helps you then practice whatever you like. However, the root of all spirituality is embracing the moment as it is. Not what you wish to be, but as it is, without judgment or offense. I have tried it, it works, and the practice has lowered my blood pressure and calmed me down. My one warning is not to listen to this in the car. His voice and temperament are so engrossing you may find yourself a bit too relaxed. Worth every penny, it changed my life.

I read The Power of Now The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment a number of years ago, but was recently drawn back to Tolle's work during a major change in my life. I was yearning for peace, and center, and stillness. In addition to re-reading the book, I discovered this CD. His voice and teachings, so clearly presented here, were soothing to my jangled, overwhelmed nervous system. I've never heard him speak in person, but I felt the power of his presence as he helped me re-tune into my own presence, and (of course) the Present. I will be keeping this CD handy for those all-too-frequent times when I need help being in the Now.

I have read and listened to Eckhart Tolle for several years. For me, these two CD's were a welcome reminder and a further invitation to step into Being and Stillness, which requires no step at all. Listening to Eckhart's voice becomes a meditation in itself. His use of language is direct, simple, effective, and with a twist of unexpected humor!

I purchased this for my daughter who is 3 and a half years old. She is a super smart girl who needs to be challenged intellectually. So I thought this would be a good way to teach her how to read while keeping her interest. But she was extremly bored with the audio cd's as well as the cd-rom. The problem with the audio cd's is that the instructional message when you first start the cd lasts forever, it's like come on just get on with the words, by the time the words even start my daughter is bored and ran off to do something else. The cd rom is the same way, you must play one game to work up to the next game. But the first game lasts for about ten whole minutes of the same repitious genera. My daughter was so bored I had to finsish the game for her so we could move on to the next more challenging one that she actually liked. The games on the rom should all be open so you can play whichever one you want. So she was really bored with this product. The only part she enjoys are the actual books and flashcards because she loves books. However I would not recommened this product to any one as it doesn't hold a child's attention.

I thought HOP was very effective. Before I purchased HOP, teaching my 4 year old how to read was painful and difficult. After a few weeks of doing HOP lessons, he picked up a random children's book at the library one day and started reading it. I realized then that he was doing more than memorizing words- he was actually reading. I hope the remaining HOP series works as well as this one did.

This program in my opinion is backward. It starts kids reading the endings of words first then adding the first letter. It did not work with my kids. My son hated reading because of it. We have gone to Sing Spell read and Write with the best Joy and success.

We bought this about 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately, we did not realize that this is supposed to be for a MAC running in classic (ATTN HOOKED ON PHONICS SOFTWARE TEAM...NO MACS RUN CLASSIC SINCE 2004!...SUPPORT THE NEW SYSTEMS). Somehow our Mac Mini running 10.5.1 is able to run the program about 1 out of every 15 times that we launch it.

3 year old boy...he absolutely LOVES the program. It captivates him for over an hours every time and he begs us to let him use it.

4 1/2 year old boy...he is absolutely BORED with this. We read to him every night some advanced books for a boy his age so he knows his letters very well.

Overall, we would recommend it to anyone (without a MAC) who has a 3 year old. It is a lot of fun.

As a retired elementary teacher, I value literacy experiences for young children. I purchased this book for my grandson's third birthday. He already had "My Big Truck Book" and loves it, it is one of his favorites. He has well over 100 at the present time, but turns again and again to this one. "My Big Train Book" is fast becoming another favorite. The bright pictures are great. I would recommend either or both these books.

My almost-4-year-old grandson loves trains. He loves this book. He's a "big-boy" now, by his own definition, and has outgrown wanting to be held and rocked too much, but he wants me to sit with him in the rocker and read this book together over and over. What Grammy wouldn't love that?!

My daughter always enjoys books made by "DK" because the pictures are real & have vivid colors. I feel she gets a better concept & more encouragement to use the potty when she sees the vivid pictures.
It has great step by step explanations, its simply & the illustrations are colorful enough to keep her engaged. She loves the star stickers with the book also. A nice addition would have been a potty chart to go with it but overall its a great book.

My ten year old loves legos ... and I love peace and quiet in the car! This product worked out great as a "trip treat", the bag was great so he could keep track of them. We use an aluminum cake pan with a plastic cover for a lego desk/holder in the car, but the book with a bag made it so he could take it into the hotel and restaurant with no fuss ... and isn't that what every mom really wants ??? no fuss??? GO LEGOS!!!!!!!!

This has many fun and challenging activities a child can do with Legos. The projects use the pieces that come with the book plus basic pieces most Lego fans will already own. Easy to follow directions with fun results. The child can use the basic ideas and expand upon them, so this kit isn't limited as some are. We got it for my son's 10th birthday and I think it would be appropriate for an 8 to 14 year old.

I asked for this before Christmas and got in January. I didn't check the contents of the bag until Saturday (February 2nd) when I had time to start building the models. Six pices were missing, two of them very important (24-tooth gear wheels). I got some extra-pieces, but some models I won't be able to build because of the missing gear wheels. I tried returning the item to Amazon but I had until January 31st so if anyone buys this please check it very soon, the models are fine, easy to do, BUT I WANT MY MISSING PIECES!!!

with detail. But it has fascinated my kids from 5-9, yes I've bought the older books as well - the oldest one I think is still a bit much for my 9yo, but she likes the middle one . . . but they all enjoy this one - it seems to hit just the right notes for interesting information without too much yuck factor for them - and the cute illustrations confirm their ideas that some of this is just a little bit weird when you hear it!!

My not-quite-four (but very verbal) daughter got this book for Christmas, and it immediately became one of her favorites. I am pregnant again now, so she is very interested in all the discussion of pregnancy and birth, and it opened up discussions about what her birth was like and what it will be like when I have this baby. The first few times we read it she just listened wide-eyed and didn't talk much, but now we chat while we read it, and she will periodically come up to me and inform me that the food I am eating will go to the baby through the umbilical cord. I recommend this one highly for any preschooler who is curious and likes to understand how things work.

I got this book for my two boys, ages 10 and 5. They were so interested in it. My 10 year old's best friend was there the night when I started reading it to my 5 year old. At first they were giggling at some at the pictures. But pretty soon I had all three of them on the couch with me just soaking up information. They even asked some questions, and said they learned some things they didn't realize. It's very simple, and to the point, without going into great detail. The pictures are cartoons, but very realistic. It's a great book to start out with, because it doesn't get bogged down with details that are too complicated for children this age. I plan on getting the next two books for my older son.

It's Not for 4 year olds.

While I recommend this book for pre-puberty kids with their parents guidance, I do not think it is appropriate for 4 years olds as the book portrays. I read it and then reviewed it with my 7 year old daughter because she had been asking alot of questions as I am pregnant with our third child. She still said "yuk" or giggled at some of the drawings, which is fine. But there is no way I would read it to my 4 year old son at this time.

So pleased that I picked this one!

When my kids started asking reproduction and anatomy questions, I checked out and read the reviews of every book on the subject I could find. I'm an RN, so it was important to me that it was accurate as well as engaging for my kids. I am so glad I picked this one. My children were 4 and 6 when we bought this book, and they absolutely loved it from the first reading. So did I. It has all the information I was hoping for and it is presented so appropriately for the age. Nothing is scary or more detailed than necessary. The illustrations are bright and fun and keep the kids engaged. The book is set up in such a way that is easy to navigate - that is, you can read it from beginning to end, and it flows appropriately - starting with body parts and boy/girl differences, reproduction in the middle, and a small section at the end about good and bad touches. You can also easily jump to the section that you or your child prefers without taking away from the book. For example, my daughter is fascinated by the cartoon showing the sperm swimming to the egg and we often just start there.

As a parent of young children and as an RN, I recommend this book to all parents

I recently finished a leadership training course sponsored by my company. One of the activities that we did in the class was to reflect on great world leaders and think about what qualities made them great. It came up during the session that some years ago the teachers had led a similar exercise, but had actually asked the participants to try to communicate with a living leader who had personally affected them. The idea had been for people to get in touch with a former manager or teacher. However, it happened that one of the participants (not having a manager who he or she had admired) contacted Nelson Mandela by email. To everyone's surprise, he responded quite kindly and shared some thoughts about leaders and leadership.

When I was traveling in South Africa, I heard many similar stories. Tour groups who told about Mandela coming out of the parliament building to greet and talk to the tourists. Employees at Robben Island talked reverently about how he had taken personal interest in their lives based on the briefest of acquaintenceships. Every story emphasized his humbleness, his respect for others, and his basic approachability.

Long Walk to Freedom, for me, confirms that image of Mandela as a man who is great in part because of his humbleness, and his resistance to myth. He emphasizes his role as the man in the middle, pushed by circumstances and common decency into greatness. He consistently avoids overdone bragging (the little that is there is surely allowed him) and looks hard at the actions that the ANC took in their quest for freedom.

While it would have been interesting to read this before going to South Africa, I actually think that I got more out of it now after seeing the country first.

I really enjoyed the book. It is not a perfect narrative. It suffers in parts from being written over a period of years. There are some little repetitions and awkwardnesses along the way. None of those things matter at all in relation to either the reading experience or the importance of the book. I liked it very much, and would recommend it highly to others. Do not be daunted by its size (625 pages, in my edition). It is actually a very quick read and kept me intensely interested the whole time. Genuinely inspirational.

Mandela: a portrait of integrity

This book recounts the life of Nelson Mandela beginning in childhood up to the present age. It is written by Mandela himself - it's honest, straightforward style seems to be an honest attempt by Mandela to portray himself objectively, avoiding the tendency to be self-serving.

A fascinating book. It begins with Mandela in his young childhood living in a pre-industrial society of native Africans in the countryside of South Africa where white settlers have dominated industrialized society. It is an engaging society, - perhaps more advanced than our own - as one must reconsider what it means to live in harmony and in cooperation; A true democracy, based on the ideals that all are equal.

Mandela undergoes culture shock when he runs away from his traditional homeland to seek his fortunes in the big city of Johannesberg. Here is encounters white society up close, and is mortified at the inequity that exists between the native blacks, and the immigrant whites that make every attempt to dominate their country and exploit its indigenous peoples.

Mandela encounters a small group of educated, free-thinking educated blacks, and joins the African National Congress. Here he encounters several other oppressed peoples: Indians, Communists, and liberal whites. He slowly makes his life's objective to be a freedom fighter. A fighter for civil rights for all people. A life of struggle, where one must be willing to pay the ultimate price. And he nearly does.

He becomes the inspiration for downtrodden average black citizen, nearly enslaved within their own country. He willingly faces grave danger, is tried several times for his political ideals, denounced as "treason" and is eventually sent to prison "for life."

Mandela's life in prison is austere. But he and his colleagues never yield in their commitment to freedom for all South Africans. His wife, Winnie is an example of true dedication - equally a woman of integrity and worthy of the highest praise. She undergoes severe hardships being married to a "freedom fighter."

Mandela avoids the tendency to give up in the face of severe conditions, showing true mettle as he remains dedicated to the rights for all people to live free in racist South Africa. 27 years later having risked his life and surviving harsh prison conditions, he emerges a national hero.

A must read for anyone - Mandela is history in the making.

This is a fantastic book that provides great insight into one of the most inspirational leaders in modern history. His story in particular and the anti-apartheid struggles in general are fascinating and provide extremely valuable lessons. With his humbleness and incredibly lucid and organized writing style (which admittedly did surprise me), this could be the best autobiography out there. One can only imagine how different the continent would be if other African Nations had such strong leaders with Nelson Mandela's courage and integrity.

Full of humanity, integrity, sacrifice, humility, and character. This is an uplifting book about the power of the human spirit to overcome great adversity. I loved it and I do agree that this book should be required reading for everyone. Parts of this book brought tears to my eyes. It illuminates a great man and the struggle people had to endure to overcome a great blight. To think that the U.S. did not place sanctions on South Africa until the mid 1980's, when men like Mandela were fighting and dying for the right to be considered human. I read recently that Pat Roberston, the great American evangelical, was a supporter of apartheid. How incredibly inhuman. If you know anything about South Africa, you will know that by the end of his long incarceration, even Mandela's captors had acquired great respect for this man. A must read...in many ways, this is a life changing, life affirming book. Powerful.

As a Spanish teacher and native speaker I wouldn't recommend this book to my worst student. I had the "pleasure" to teach this book for 3 years (formerly named "Bienvenidos", "A bordo" and "Buen Viaje")and I didn't like it the least. The publishers came up with a new format this year but although it looks more attractive you can still find many of the SAME old activities and many of the old pictures. The vocabulary section at the end of each chapter don't have the English translation what makes it quite difficult for the student when reviewing vocabulary. They have improved the culture sections, though; but still it is not good enough. If you learn Spanish using this book, please THANK your teacher, he/she has a lot of work to do when using this book. Buena suerte!

This book has good info. Not only Spanish words, but a LOT of cultural history, maps, photos, etc. They have really good, clear, explanations. I used this book for my Spanish class. But, the book alone won't get you to speak fluent Spanish. Of course, my teacher played a HUGE role in teaching me, but theis book is great. Who knows, maybe if we finished the whole book, I'd be fluent, but it IS worth it. Trust me.
