I would recommend this book for any child interested in coin collecting. It's a very fun book, filled with interesting facts and history about coins, states and presidents. Geared toward kids 9 - 12 years of age, it will help them build a decent coin collection, and maybe encourage them to continue into serious collecting. Would be a great gift for that special child, especially with a few coins already inserted into the holders in the book.

What a great book

This book was much better than I expected. It is a great first coin book. There are inserts for every US coin. I was not expecting it to be so inclusive. You can use it to collect all state quarters - new nickles - President dollars - there are even spots for the new penny's that have not even come out yet. Plus some fun collections (year you were born - oldest of each coin) Plus it has lots of info about making coins. The only issue we found were that some of the coins were VERY tight fits. Wonderful gift that you can keep building on.

Really interesting for my 9-year-old

This was a really great buy. Not only did my 9-year-old daughter gain even more interest in coin collecting, but we spent hours together filling the coin slots with different types of coins, learning the facts about the Presidents and searching everywhere for coins we were missing. My 12-year-old couldn't help but get in on the action also.

Great book, bad binding

This is the third time I have purchased this book. What a great way to introduce children to coin collecting. However, with my third purchase, the binding has either changed or I received an older edition. The binding keeps getting caught on the pages but all in all I would still buy the book. However I would look for the version with metal ring binding versus the white plastic covered metal binding I received on this latest book. I would have given the product five stars otherwise.

Great Book, Could Have Better Spiral Bound Construction

Review Date: 2008-04-13
This coin book is great! Both my of my kids have one (ages 5 and 9) and they love them. My oldest in particular has really gotten into coin collecting and learning how money is made. It has a special page where you collect coins from your birth year and a statehood quarter from your birth state. Collect all of the statehood quarters and presidential coins. Collect the oldest of each coin that you find with an easy way to change them out if older coins are found. I wish all of the coins had this special feature so you could switch out coins if you found one in better condition.

My only real complaint is that the newer versions of these books have a terrible, terrible design for the spiral bound construction that keeps all of the pages in. It is made of metal and comes loose and pages come out. I will have to do what the previous reviewer did and basically connect them back together with something permanent. I just hope it will still look nice once I do that.

Actually, I do have one other complaint. I ordered a few of these to give as gifts since the kids really enjoy them and they are not too costly. Most of the books I got from Amazon were not in gift giving condition, meaning they had scratches on the covers and the corners were torn. Amazon was great about refunding though.

So, get a book in good condition, fix the spiral and you have a great book with hours of entertaining and learning.

Very helpful, easy to read, great guide to add to the excitement of getting ready for the trip of a lifetime for us travelling from Australia in October 2008, but also provides you with essential information. Also brought "the unofficial guide to disneyland" which is also very good, but we keep picking up this one because of the pictures and ease of finding information.

I enjoyed reading this guide. I understand that it is written with a Disney slant but that was what I was looking for. Excellent information is provided. This is a must read for a for time visitor or someone who just wants a refresher on all that Disney has to offer.

My 6 year old loves reading this book. It shows how children around the world dress, live, and play. It is interesting to see what other children like to do for fun, or what they like to eat. It is also teaching her about the different countries around the world.

This awesome book shows children around the world and what their everyday life is like (homes, schools, families, pets, friends, churches, food). Having a daughter adopted internationally, this book helps us learn more about her birth country and about all the children of the world. We've started giving this as birthday gifts to her friends.

I hope that all children can someday enjoy this book with their friends and caring adults. It makes real the lives of children all around the world - their hopes, their dreams, their families and their daily routines. It's a delight to see our similarities and a great lesson to learn about our differences. Thank you to the authors and publishers.

A great way to introduce your children to the wider world

My family and I love this book so much I bought one for every set of cousins on our Christmas list. Our three year old daughter doesn't watch TV so this is a fantastic way for her to get a sense of the wider world....She's fascinated by the photos and stories of the children who dress and live so differently from her. And our older cousins can read the materials themselves. We very enthusiastically recommend this one!

I purchased this book for my son Ben when he was 2 1/2 yrs. old. He is now 10 and my daughter Maria reads it continuously. This book is by far the best young children's awareness book about the differences and similarities between all children on this earth. I work for the YMCA and have purchased it for our summer camp so that the children coming to stay at Camp Silver Beach can learn more about the childhoods of the international counselors who are role models for them during the summer. At 2 1/2 years, my son knew the continents and could point out where "Ari or Celena" lived and tell me their favorite toys or food and point to the countries in which they live. This book is colorful and timeless expanding a child's view of the world and helping to instill the compassion we need to get along with all kinds of people.

This is a neat book. Your Junie B. fan can read jounal entries that Junie B. has written about herself, which are very entertaining. Then, there is a space for her to write her own entry on the same topic that Junie B. just wrote. There are some places to draw and others that you just write. My 7 year old got this for Christmas and the first time she picked it up, she worked on it for more than an hour. It will make a great keepsake when completed.

I don't understand the positive reviews here or the caldecott award. The sketchings are artistically done, true, but in a way an adult can appreciate intellectually; they don't really evoke emotion. The story is a yawner.

Toddler Loves It, and Wants Blueberries for Breakfast!

Review Date: 2008-01-11
I can not tell you how many times I have made blueberry pancakes since we got BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL. My 2 1/2 year old boy loves, loves, loves this book. It has a bit more of a plot than someone his age is used to. The first time we got to a point where the story switches for the moment from the story of Sal and her mommy to the story of Little Bear and his mommy, he stopped me and paged back to look at the pages abiout Sal some more. Once we got past that, he came to love BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL. We read this one over, and over, and over. I have the sense that this book stretched out how much story he could manage, as it is longer and more complex than any storybook we had tried previously.

BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL has also been a great seasonal story for us in fall and early winter. The book is set in fall, and it has allowed us to talk about seasons. Our boy is quite interested in the idea of winter and how the people and the bears are both getting ready for winter.

BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL was one of our bedtime stories tonight, and I have a promise now to make blueberry pancackes for breakfast again. We love BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL!

I have been an acting teacher for nine years and an co-author of my own acting book "Finally..Monologues That Work" and the one thing children love the most in class is the games! Games and more games. They can't get enough. 101 Drama Games For Children gives us variety. It is a great source for teachers who teach acting or in the classroom. It keeps the children interested, helps them learn and they have so much fun. Who could ask for more.

While not directly about "Drama", this book offers great games to get children thinking fast and exercising their creative muscles. I am having a lot of fun using it in an introductory drama class for 1st to 3rd grade chilren. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for ideas to use creative play groups more than for teaching specific dramatic techniques. It's about the fun of imagination!

Very usable - great resource!

I am so glad that we found this book! Five problems a night makes math FUN, rather than WORK for my child. So much so that he will do a few days worth of problems in one sitting.

The book has variety to keep him interested, and he's learning new skills from it also. I will definitely buy the grade 2 book for next year.

I'm a firm believer of practice early on math. It will build kid's interest and confidence for the long run. This book is invaluable. It breaks grade 1 math into small pieces and let your child do a little every day. My son learned a lot from this book. He often asks further questions and thinks a lot more. This book helped him do well in math. In the Beestar online math contest (...), he often wins honor mentions. Highly recommend.

I used this book for after-school review with my 6-year-old son. The format (5 problems per day, including 1 word problem) worked great. Used on a daily basis, it provides just enough repetition to do the trick.

You get a total of 180 sets of problems, broken down into 36 weeks. Each set takes up 1/2 of one side of a page. The book provides lots of variety in its problem sets. All in all, this book delivers what it promises, and then some.

Highly recommended.

Dr. Gurgevich knows what he is doing when it comes to hypnosis for weight loss. While I didn't have the problem that a lot of the reviewers had with his voice, I agree that the CD quality and production values could have been improved. I prefer his other book The Self-Hypnosis Diet: Use The Power Of Your Mind to Reach Your Perfect Weight.

If you're a woman looking to lose weight, I'd also recommend looking into Body Esteem: Weight Loss Through Self-Discovery (includes 2 Audio CDs). For the same price you get two CD's and a workbook. Sherri Dawson's audio programs are wonderful, accompanied by sounds of nature and relaxing music.

It's all about what works for you. The bottom line is I needed to look inside of me for the answer to my weight struggle rather than quick fix diets and pills. Find a book/audio program that is relaxing to listen to and helps you develop the inner path to self-awareness and happiness.

I find the author's voice actually quite soothing to listen to. I have the Audible audiobook (no CDs, just one big file) and I do wish that each hypnosis session was a separate track. I went through the audiobook via iTunes and wrote down the time when each hypnosis session begins. I printed it out and keep it nearby so I can fast forward to the specific session that I want to listen to. I hope this will help out anyone else with the program as an Audible file. (I tried to post this on the Audible website but I keep getting an error message.)
