This one was just okay for me.

My only real probelm with it is that it was kind of slow. I kept waiting for things to pick up, but it didn't really happen. There was a little bit of action, but it wasn't as exciting as I expected.

There were good things about it too. Libba Bray's writing is great. Her descriptions make things so easy to visualize, and the concept is fantastic. The Realms, the magical place Gemma and her friends discover, are amazing. This book has the potential to be a great story; it just doesn't quite make it. However, it is good, and it's worth the time and money.

I would also like to say that this is the first in a trilogy, and the second one is great and much more action-packed. You will need to read this one so that you understand what's going on in the next two books. This one is kind of slow, but it has to give you the "background" parts. I would recommend this one so that you can get to the others.

A fantastic enthralling read

If you liked the Twilight series, the Vampire Academy, etc., you'll love this series as well.

Beautifully written words that are wrapped in magic, myth, and promises, Libba Bray leads you to another world entirely. It has romance, epic-ish adventures in other worlds, and enough magic to please everyone.

Definitely read it. Once you start through the first few chapters, you won't be able to put it down. This is one of those you say "Thank God I don't have to wait 3 years for the next two..."

Amazing!

Gemma Doyle like a normal teenage girl living in the Victorian age. Until she sees her mother's death through a vision. Soon she is in England, after spending her whole life in India, attending a boarding school called Spence academy. There she meets three girls and the adventures only get more exciting.

No matter how many times I read this book I can hardly put it down. Rich in detail, with pulse pounding adventure and something different then the other YA books on the market.

The two other books in the series are just a great and addictive. Recommended to anyone who loves fantasy and history. You can tell how much work Libba Bray put into the book.

A story with three young women who dared to live in a time when they should have worried about marriage and scandal.

Loved it!

I was finishing up with the Twilight series and wanted more. I bought this book a long time ago and was waiting to read it. I was hooked from the start! I love English history as well so I knew I'd enjoy it, but if it's mixed with mystery, magic and suspence as well as a bit of romance I ended up reading it hungrily and aching to start the second one. I LOVED it!! I have been telling all my friends that if they miss twilight they should read the Gemma Doyle Trilogy. I hope they make a movie of this one as well!! It would make a really exciting film! You should read this book! I didn't want to stop reading it!! :)

The book and series are full of hot sex and I prefer our men in these books to be of the Alpha Male and stay that way. This book sold me on the rest of the series and hopefully it will be a little more true to form on presenting an Alpha that knows he is one and wants to remain one.

While I love Lora Leighs work this is not my favourite of hers. There were two short stories in the book and not the same amount of emotional development as there is in her breed novels or my personal fav. of hers "forbidden pleasure". Still a good read.

This book has to be the best out of her series, its witty and fun. It is a great summer read if your looking for something light and funny. The entire series was great and i'm really hoping that she doesn't stop at this one i would definetely read more of Becky's adventures. I admit i've been where she has and overindulged and looked at my Visa bill and nearly passed out the first time. I can competely relate to all her adventures especailly this one i was actually 3 months pregnant when i started reading this i admit it was kinda redundant in some parts but it was funny anyways. The villian Venetia Carter was just Hillarious!!! I think that this was the greatest thing about this book was it actually had a "villian". It was amazing and please please Sophie Kinsella WRITE MORE ABOUT Becky Bloomwood (Brandon)!! I will be sure to purchase and read it if you do.

The best yet!

I loved all of the Shopaholic novels, but this has been my favorite. I found the new villain, Venetia Carter, of the book to be well-rounded and a good addition. But most of all, and for the first time ever, I actually felt Becky's pain when she discovered, or falsely discovered, that her husband was cheating on her and was as pissed off as her when Venetia did other things (eg.: made her wear weird "baby-supporting" clothes). I'd love to see another Shopaholic book, but, if not, this was a great final installment. I highly recommend it!

Fun to read, but its getting old

I've been a big Kinsella fan ever since I read her Undomestic Goddess book, followed by the Shopaholic series (yes, I read every single one of them!) I HAD looked forward to this one...and what a disappointment it was! Kinsella had a lot of material to work with...there's dearth of material to write about having a baby! But instead, Kinsella made Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) so STUPID! This is the first Kinsella book I bought that I cannot finish. This book was absolutely AWFUL! (Did anyone read her draft before publishing it?) I may never read any of Kinsella's books again.

Couldn't take anymore!!

I am not the type of person to not finish a book, but I couldn't force myself to read all of this. I have read the other books in this series. I liked the first one. It was kind of original and somewhat relatable. But now, the main character, Becky Bloomwood, is just annoying and irresponsible. The foreign bank accounts, credit cards, etc. are just ridiculous. Her husband has become a joke. What man, of any means, would put up with this amount of lying and trickery. I realize that there are people out there who have shopping disorders such as this, but it's an addiction. I think that the next book should be Shopaholic and Therapist.

I loved this book as I do all Diana Palmer books. It is not heavy liturature and that is not what I am looking for in a book by Daina Palmer. I want entertainment, fantasy and something to take me away from everyday concerns. Diana provides a hot, hard headed guy who by the end of the book is brought to his knees. I like that. This was a fun book.

This must be the worst-read I've had---and why do we keep buying!!!

If there was a way to give it negative stars I would have. Just like what the previous reader said, why do we keep buying Diana Palmer's books? It is because her stories used to be so heartwrenching and funny, the heroines have spunk and the heroes portrayed are not some macho, self-centered person. If anyone has noticed, Ms. Palmer's last two books portrayed the women as barely 20. What has happened? To make the "virgin" persona more realistic? I think her stories lately have been more unrealistic. A woman can still be virtuous without having to be poor or plain---that was the reason I love the character from her previous book---Tippy Moore (Cash Grier).
I just hope that Ms. Palmer is not giving in to her editor's pressure to produce stories for her fans, because it just makes those of us who love her story-telling disappointed, but most of all CHEATED.

First of all, as I have said in other reviews of Palmer books, I have all of Palmer's books and love the older titles. However, it seems that there is one master story on Palmer's computer and when it's time for her to submit something she goes and changes the names of the characters. If you like the same story with a young virginal, scarred or sick heroine who has a "case" on her best friend's older brother because he is a "dish" and you love Palmer's endless referrals to breeding programs, Science Fiction or ancient ruins, then don't hesitate to buy. I am sure that all of us will rush out and get the next release which will probably be another carbon copy, but Palmer fans can't seem to help it.

The cover of this book caught my eye. I was not familiar with Amy Cohen, but I am glad to know of her after reading The Late Bloomer's Revolution. I enjoyed this book to a certain degree. I know it is biographical for her, but it just never seemed to keep my attention too long. It was well written and very humorous, but I had a hard time staying focused after a chapter or 2. It was also very sad in some parts..and having lost my mom at a young age, I could relate, but part of me just wanted her to "get" happy and move on with life. I would recommed this to anyone who likes to read about being single and dating. If you are looking for an upbeat lite read, this is not it.

I absolutely loved this book;the authors writing is be both insightful and funny, a marvelous combination. I listened to the book at work and found myself cackling aloud almost one time a page. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the character of Liz Lemon in 30 Rock, Woody Allen, or Sex and the City.

Sorry this review isn't very good but I am not a review writer. I am a prolific reader but never, even if I loved it, feel moved to write a review but I want to add my vote to all the other people saying "Read this book!"

I love this book. I very much identify with Amy's struggles, her triumphs and her challenges in this book. I laughed (at times, quite loudly, and repeatedly) and cried with her, nodded my head and said, "So true!" a few times as well. I was skeptical when I purchased it, because from reading the back cover, I thought that it would be the promise of yet another insightful book that failed to deliver; that the author claimed to know all about the "Late Bloomers", and actually knew nothing. This book knocks it out of the park. If you're a "Late Bloomer", buy it. Now. Then, go back and buy copies for your friends who AREN'T "Late Bloomers" so that they can "get it".

I got this book as part of premarriage counseling, and overall it was a good book. Good information for people of various sex knowledge levels. However, the book was comical at points and seemed a bit old fashioned/impractical. For example, a wife should have dinner on the table and look her best when her husband comes home from work. It also said that couples should not own a TV for the first year of their marriage. Already broke that rule.

Best Christian sex manual out there!

The Wheat's really know what they are talking about...and it was fun to read with my new husband. I would recommend this book to everyone, not just Christians, who are about to make the jump to wedded bliss. Probably better to read a month before the wedding...otherwise that first night can be like fumbling around in the dark. Highly recommended.

This book is wonderful! I bought it just prior to my wedding. It is a bit like going back to middle school sex-ed, but it proved invaluable for the honeymoon. The authors deal expertly, honestly, and sensitively about the subject.

I didn't like this book. It's well written, but really makes some statements that can't be backed up with the Bible. Everything is cut/dry. This is this way because we think it should be this way. I would go to some other book.

Great Resource! Very clinical

Review Date: 2007-08-24
The many reviews I read before purchasing this book are correct: This is a very clinical and sometimes dry book. It's also a fantastic resource. But honestly, if you are interested in learning the basics, you shouldn't have a hard time getting through it.

I really enjoyed this book and the emphasis on the clinical explanations of how things work. Ed Wheat is a doctor and that comes out in his technical explanations, which are especially helpful if you are having some problems in your sex life.

I would have given it 5-stars (it really is a great book) except I purchased another book as well, Getting your Sex Life Off to a Great start, and I found the other book a bit better in its explanation of the first sexual experience as well as its advice for the honeymoon.

If you are preparing for your first experience I recommend buying both books. Each book offers something that the other lacks. If you can only purchase one, I recommend the other, but both are really great resources. We are also reading through Love Life for Every Married Couple and it is important to work on all aspects of your relationship - not just the sexual aspect.

My brother bought me this book after I said that I want to read something new. At the beginning the story evolved a bit slow but when more pieces came together a machine for action was ready to roll, and I was hooked. A story of a teenager with a special gift that end-ups in psychiatric clinic with a treatment plan for schizophrenia was quite captivating. Therefore, I look forward to read a sequel that should clear up all the questions that were risen by the cliff hanging ending.

I especially liked the opening scene with the toddler seeing dead people and being lured into the basement. Morbid, I know. Yet, mostly this book reminded me of the Hero's series on T.V.

At age 15 Chloe hasn't had a strange occurance since she was toddler so many years ago, yet on this strange morning, she wakes up from a dream (of that time as a toddler) sees a ghost walking down the street, and encounters a dead janitor in her school hall. After running screaming through the hall and fighting with teachers her father and aunt have decided to put her in a group home for the time being with other disturbed teens. Yep, the "crazy" house. It doesn't take long to realize things are not always what they seem.

I flew this novel. I highly recommend it.

Review Date: 2008-09-05
When Chloe's ability to see ghosts draws unwelcome attention, she is deemed to be an at risk adolescent and sent to a group home where she can "be helped." Among the troubled youths there, she makes some instant enemies, but also, some very close friends, some of whom will prove to be vitally important in the days to come. Despite the purported high success rate of Lyle House, not every patient makes it out alive. Moreover, Chloe is not the only teen there who is not really troubled, just has powers. Two boys, Simon and Derek, introduce her to the idea of Supernaturals, beings like her who have something extra, whether it is spellcraft, necromancy, or other powers. Because of this, Lyle House is a very dangerous place for them, for something has been going on there for decades, something that threatens to destroy any Supernatural who walks through its doors. Chloe's admission there might not be a coincidence after all.

***** If you thought Kelley Armstrong to be an awesome writer going on her Women of the Otherworld series, then double your estimation by at least two when you read this. I still love her adult writing, but this really blows you away. Chloe's story is a compelling read that will keep you riveted right from the start, and grow more addictive as you turn the pages. I can hardly wait to see more. *****

Wanda is an awesome writer and I have read and enjoyed nearly all of her writings. I felt a bit let down and disappointed with this series, however. The first book held my interest and the story lines were well established but the repetition and mulling over of the attacks, the rumored attackers, the secret liasons between Martha and Luke, the dog business, etc., etc. became tedious and stagnant by book two, and even more so by book 3. It was apparent early on who the culprit was and I struggled to finish the book. I think these three might have been more successfully accomplished in one volume with more development of the other family members and story lines. A little disappointed , but I will still follow this gifted writer as she shares a lovely and simple faith and life-style of the gentle Amish people.

I have to admit, the only reason I chose this book was because of the 240+ rave reviews here at amazon. How could 99% of the reviewing public be wrong, right? Well take it from me, whoever translated this book into english (it was originally written in another language) did a pretty shabby job, unless their goal was to suck the life out of every paragraph. It is thoroughly boring, utterly useless and embarrassingly void of anything that anyone could apply to their sex life. I guarantee you 110% that you will be disappointed with this book, and after reading it you'll be looking somewhere else for the answers you were seeking. This was my first foray into a "better sex" book, and I most definitely made the wrong choice.

The chapters are so short, they feel like you're reading an outline. There is no content. There is so much filler in this book, you start to catch on by about page 50 that you're going absolutely nowhere -- page after page, chapter after chapter. She mentions some interesting ideas and concepts, but never once does she show any hint of knowledge or expertise in this subject area. Her solution to EVERYTHING is that with proper practice and techniques, you too can achieve an explosive orgasm -- but she tells you absolutely nothing about how to do anything. It's so ridiculous I was laughing out loud by chapter 10. Really, this book is a complete waste and joke.

Wow. this is the perfect book for busy, active people who want to keep their sex life alive, but who don't have time to spend learning. When I thought there were not any more sex "techniques" I could learn from a book, this book just amazed me. This book just transformed my sex and it is never going to be better than after reading it. I've read my share of sex books but this one is very informative, gives great advises and covers many areas of relationships that are not covered in other books.

I'd give it six stars if I could.

M. Iam seriously addresses intimacy issues and provides a step-by-step deep relationship-nourishing format that begins with the art of exploring the pleasures of the Kama sutra from the vantage point of the couple's balanced physical, mental and emotional energy. In addition to initiating and maintaining the purely sensual aspects of love-making.

Everyone should read this book. I have read a lot of relationships and sex books. This one, by far, is the best for me. Was almost like a total
pleasure, I am giving it as a gift for special occasions and recommending it to everyone I know.

Sex and the Perfect Lover is a guide for those who wish a relationships with love pleasure, and intimacy, This is by far the best book I have ever read. The style of the book is easy, clear and perfect to understand and the illustrations of the kamasutra are excellent. The exercises and illustrations are creative, playful, and unusual, such as rewriting a recipe in sexual imagery to create an appetizing and erotic plan.
I've shared it with some friends. I'm definitely going to give a copy of this book to my friends.
