Debbie Macomber is an excellent writer who pulls the reader into the stories so that they have trouble putting the books down until completed. When they are finished you can't wait until the next one is started.

Debbie Macomber's book are nice to sit down with. Caroline's Child and Dr. Texas are the next two stories, in the Heart of Texas Series. These stories are only two of the adventures in this set, the whole series is a must read, it is what makes the story line more interesting and complete. I don't want to spoil any of it for you. I will say....... I love the people of Promise Texas. All the characters seem real and they all have interesting stories. Debbie Macomber does her magic once again. I couldn't wait to see what was happening to all the people in town and what the BIG SECRET was, that ran through the story line, of all the books. You won't be disappointed in the Heart of Texas series. If you like romance and a little fun, all these stories are worth the cost of the set.

The author did not disappoint me. The first volume was excellent and so was this one. She has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are in the story with the people she is writing about. I can't wait for volume 3.

This is the first book of Christine Feehan's that I have read. Actually, it was the first time I heard of her, since I typically stay away from the "cheap sex-filled romances." As I am a sucker for dolphins (yeah, I know it is definitly girly of me), the cover caught me attention and since I have read everything else at home I bought it.
At first, I thought it started out slow and drab but it quickly warmed up. Since it was seven sisters, it really didn't spend much time elaborating on the other characters as much as I would have liked. It really just focused on a few characters, and left the others up to imagination.
Alexsandr upon first impression was very controlling. I understand why his character was made that way because of his background but I couldn't understand why sweet Abby would go for that sort of thing. His betrayal of Abby seemed so horrible that I had a really hard time forgiving him myself. Although, I understand that kind of love well and under the same circumstances I may have done the same. By the end of the book, I had really come to enjoy the Russian heartthrob.
I was also really intrigued by Prakenskii and wished that the author followed him a little more so that we could learn more about him and his background. If he is really a carrier of all the gifts doesn't he need to carry on his gifts? To do that doesn't he need to fall in love? I thought there was a little spark between him and the headstrong Joley. I could see a hate-love relationship between them.
I was really disappointed when the little subtle hints between Jonas and Hannah didn't result into a sweet love affair.
Another disappointment was that even though two of the sisters were engaged (which two I couldn't tell you because there were so many of them that I have some of them confused with the other) and I never was really introduced to their fiancés.
The characters that did get some elaboration I did enjoy and the story line went fast enough to capture my attention. I would take it into the bathroom and sit on the toilet while I watched my children play in the tub while reading it. I would read one chapter so that there water would not get too cold. It quickly became an obsession of mine and let's just say that my kids were the cleanest kids that you ever did see.
She is not my favorite author but she got my attention enough to go and get some of her other books.

I listen to a wide selection of audio books and I still cannot believe that I actually listened to 8 out of the 12 CDs of this publication. While listening to this, I was really wondering if there are adults who truthfully enjoy such stories. Witches, dolphins, Interpol, Russian mafia, lots of sex and nothing to the storyline. What a waste of my time!

Its been a long time since I've enjoyed a trilogy as much as I have the Three Sister's Island books. The third book finished out the story of these wonderfully different women and their special talents. It was so much fun to read all three that I hated to see it end. I could read this trilogy again. Something I don't do often. If your going to read one, plan on reading all three. You won't want to have just one.

What is wrong with Nora Roberts? Her latest books about witchcraft and devils?? This is so not her. I long for a good book like her "THe Villa" or some of her past books with some depth and character development. I could not finish them and took them back to the dealer. Ick!

I think Nora Roberts has a habit of starting trilogies off really well, and then dropping the ball by the time she finishes. "Face the Fire" is nowhere near as interesting or compelling as the previous two installments in this trilogy. I think NR ran out of steam.

Mia Devlin is a strong beautiful witch that owns a bookstore/café on Three Sisters. She keeps buried a deep hurt from her childhood when the love of her life, Sam Logan, left her broken just out of high school.
Sam is back, and he is determined to win Mia back. He knows what a mistake he made leaving. He was so young, and the powerful emotions she brought out in him scared him, so he ran. Sam is also a witch, and he is willing to use whatever it takes to gain Mia's trust.
Mia and Sam must find their way back to each other, or they will not have the strength for the upcoming fight of their lives.
A great finish to the series. I liked that Mia was fire and Sam was water - fire & ice!

I am officially addicted to this series! If all Young Adult fiction was this well done, there would be no need for an adult section! In "Midnight Alley", Claire has pledged herself to Amalie in exchange for her Protection, and that of her friends. Amalie forces Claire into advanced placement college courses (not a bad thing) and private tutoring sessions with a crazy vampire (this could soooo be a bad thing!). Claire discovers some of Morganville's secrets during these tutoring sessions but what role she has to play is bigger than she could have imagined. On there personal front, things are still tense between Michael and Shane, and Eve's evil brother is claiming to be the killer of an alarming number of corpse's turning up around town. And Monica and the Monic-ettes aer up to something as well... There is literally danger around every corner, and the only kids in the Glass House can truly on count on each other. My biggest complaint in the first book "Glass Houses" was its unbelievably dramatic cliff hanger. Caine seems to have taken notice because she finds a great balance between finishing up the pressing issues in this story and allowing a few continuing threads, as well as a new twist and turn to entice us into the next volume. Great job done here and I again encourage anyone considering this series to grab up the first volume.

Great series with interesting characters and a fun to read premise. Just think about it. An entire town controlled by vampires. The people little more than sheep having to maneuver around the whims and temperaments of their volatile leaders. Unable to walk or go anywhere at night without risking being attacked. Even the daylight is no true relief since they can stay awake then also as long as they stick to the shadows. I just can't get enough of this series. I especially like the main character. She makes mistakes and can be a bit naive, but she is only 16 and Caine does a great job of making her sound and act like a typical, abit intelligent, 16 year old. I'm sooo looking forward to the next one.

I have read all three books in this series. This book picks up where book two left off. I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it. Rachel Caine is a new author for me and I like her writing. I started reading this after I finished the Twilight series and have not been disappointed. I can't wait until book four comes out. This is not just for teenagers, but for adults also. I should know I'm 53 years old.

Lovin' Me Some SEALs

Ian Richards - a good man produced by bad blood - has betrayed his Navy SEAL brother-in-arms and has become a traitor to his country. As the son of the infamous drug lord, Diego Fuentes, Ian has stepped forward to claim his birthright as the heir to the Fuentes Cartel. Although, unbeknowst to the Durango Team- his SEAL brothers, and his father, Ian has tipped the first of a house of cards. The plan is to kill Sorrel - a U.S. terrorist threat, and in the process, murder his father thereby toppling the Fuentes Drug Cartel into the dust.
Being immersed in the cartel for a year, Ian's soul has become weary. Blood he has shed coats his hands and his heart. He tries to justify these deaths by reminding himself that the men were murders, drug dealers, rapists - monsters. Yet still, his soul weeps while his identity as Ian Richards slowly disappears into that of Ian Fuentes.
Kira Porter is leading a double life. One as the wealthy society princess and the other as The Chameleon. Kira is a covert operative agent working for the Department of Homeland Security. She can morph herself into being completely unrecognizable, even to those who know her well. In her several disguises, she infiltrates terrorist cells and reports back to handlers so that the Navy SEALs can move in and take down the threat she has captured.
Kira has developed so many disguises, so many personalities and lives that she doesn't know her true self. She feels incredibly isolated and lonely in her ever changing persona. That is until she meets Ian. The two have crossed paths several times. Her operating as The Chameleon, and Ian as part of the silent and deadly force of the Navy SEALs. Each time, no matter how different she makes her appearance, Ian can recognize her. With an almost imperceptible lift of a chin, or direct hard stare, Ian acknowledges Kira in the field, letting her know that he sees her. This fascinates Kira to the extent that she researches Ian endlessly. She takes contracts where she knows that the Durango Team, and thus Ian, will be involved just so that she may see him again. Kira also gets the feeling that Ian is just as fascinated with her as she with him.
Deep down, Kira knows that Ian is not a deserter of his country nor a traitor. Because of this she will shed her disguise and ultimately her protection as The Chameleon, to go to Ian and offer herself - Kira Porter - to Ian Fuentes. She will protect him at all costs. And when she discovers that Ian is there to kill his father, Diego Fuentes, she will never let him achieve this goal. Not only has the Department of Homeland Security contracted her to keep Diego Fuentes alive, but she cannot allow Ian to completely destroy his soul. No man should ever have to wield the weapon that kills his father.
Ian and Kira are explosive together. Ian, with his soul seeped in blood and guilt, finds light and love in Kira's strength and determination to make him feel complete. Meanwhile, he forces Kira to be the woman while in his arms and not the agent thus revealing to Kira her passionate nature and her desire to love Ian and be loved in return.
As with all Lora Leigh novels, Ian and Kira discover themselves and their feelings for each other through very graphic and erotic love scenes. What I love about Leigh is that her sex scenes are never redundant. Each one breaks through emotional barriers that the characters have erected and developed over time. In each scene the characters are tested more and more until their previous illusions and walls come crumbling down with a shattering release and the hero and heroine can finally express their love for one another.
In addition, Leigh has created a very interesting and sympathetic villain. Diego Fuentes is an evil madman yet all he truly wants is the love of his son and the chance to maybe one day hold his grandchildren. The reader understands Diego's plight because it's so natural for one to want children and their love. Yet, Diego also exhibits his ability to kill with stunning remorselessness and ease. This combination is quite compelling and adds to Ian's growing anguish and frustration with his resolve to kill his father.
Lora Leigh gets better with each novel she writes and 'Killer Secrets' is definitely following this trend. Her plot lines have become more complex while her characters have gained emotional depth and range. She is an auto-buy for me and will continue to be so after this great read.
The only aspect that brings down my assigned grade is that this novel, although can be stand alone, I feel is confusing without having read the previous titles in her Tempting SEALs series. To better understand Ian and Diego Fuentes, I recommend starting from the beginning with 'Dangerous Games' and 'Hidden Agendas'.

"Any hope at finding a plot is lost in completely unbelievable and ridiculously frequent sex scenes. Not even remotely suspensful or intriguing."
This was written by another reviewer and I have to agree. It was hard enough to find a plot to begin with and sort our who was who (my fault for not starting at the beginning of the series). She needed to take a little more time in the beginning to set up the plot better and then all the sex scenes may (I hardly doubt it) have made a bit more sence. I was not thrilled with her style or her delivery. Again I need to state that I haven't started at the beginning of the series and for me to judge any author well I think I need to read at least two or three of their books. I have to admit though, that I will go to the library for the next book first and not buy it, this one was hard enough to finish.

This book was by far the hardest to read for me. The plot was intense, and it was hard to keep up with all of the characters, since there were so many. But Ian and Kira were great, and their chemistry was off the charts! Defintely a series worth reading!

Even for the genre, just awful. I can't return it because I bent the spine. Stupid me. Reiterates one aspect of the plot 4 times in the first three pages. And that's just the prologue. I have tried, but get too disgusted to even go beyond the second page of the first chapter.
Can't say what you like, but I would tell you not to waste your money.

Is Ian a traiter or a Navy Seal? One of the better Seal books. I really like Ian, dark and broody as he fell in love. Kira was an agent as well but she became only after Ian in the end and lost her tough spy appeal. Too much story on Ian's evil father and whether Ian would kill him. Kira was not as likable as Ian and always torn between doing her duty and backing Ian. Another one of Lora's rough sex buildups but there were a couple romantic sex scenes as well as the fast and rough. It was good but I prefer her parnormal breed books.

I've fallen in love with the Rachel Morgan series. I'm not going to recap the book (that's been done many times over). I like the dynamics between Rachel and Trent. This book got into more of Rachel's past and where she came from. I was really hoping that the mystery of Kisten's death would have been solved but it was not. I enjoyed learning more about the underworld. Overall, this book was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to learn more about the Hallows!!

This is a fast-paced, action-packed book, full of demons, witches, vampires, weres and pixies, oh my! Al, a demon Rachel Morgan sent to demon jail, is back and he's pissed. Nothing like an angry demon coming after you to keep life interesting. With the help of her vampire roommate, Ivy and her pixie partner Jenks, she struggles to find a way to trap Al once and for all before he not only kills her, but everyone she cares about. Oh, and there are several other shocking surprises along the way.
This story is very well written and Ms. Harrison creates not only characters, but a world that is so fleshed out and vivid it seems almost plausible. It was an absolute joy to read and I devoured the entire book in just a couple of sittings. I highly recommend this book to one and all.

Harrison always keeps the story moving along with tons of action. This book lets us see a bit father into the hearts of the characters. I didn't really see those parts of the book as "slow moving", but rather a necessary part of the plot. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Here's hoping that Rachel, Ivy and Jenks do some serious damage to the undead vampire responsible for killing Kisten.

This book culminates in the many threads running through the Hollows series. The characters are darker, the events harsher, and the risks higher than they've been to date.
And without spoiling it, the plot takes a turn that was not expected.
There's action, romance, adventure, characters worth reading about...and the sex stops just where it needs to, without describing post-A and slot-B mechanics. The touch of erotica, and I mean touch, lends depth to the vampire characters.

There are almost five hundred reviews on this book, so I have almost nothing to add except the following.
This book is a romance/mystery written in a different time. The original publication date is 1937 or so. I have seen a lot of disappointment about the speed of the book, the main character, how the book paints women, etc. To those people, you need to understand that we haven't always been a society of people needing a "quick fix" or who even want to be spoon-fed, and books do not stay around as long as Rebecca because they are shallow. I rather suspect, having read Jamaica Inn, that Du Maurier intended for the heroine to be exactly as "mousy" as she is and that she intended there to be many questions left unanswered. The book is wonderful because even once a reader puts it down, he/she can sit and discuss it with others. Does Maxim really love the narrator or does he just want her to keep quiet? Was Rebecca the witch she was painted as or are we just getting a portrait of her third hand through the narrator (who got a lot of her material from Maxim)? Who really wins in the end? Rebecca? Maxim? And is justice really done?
As you can see, the possibilities for discussion are endless, and that is exactly what makes this book so remarkable.

This a great story that kept me hook from the beginning. The story of this woman who felt in love with a widow and marry him, take you to his home and an evil housekeeper. It is intense and you won't see the ending not matter how you try. A great mystery, well worth your time.

I remind myself that this book was written 80 years ago, and that the frequent, mindless chit-chat among the characters about absolutely nothing was probably the norm for the day. If you can bear with this story until about the two-thirds mark, you'll treat yourself to a climactic finish.
I have the same problem with "Rebecca" that I had with "My Cousin Rachel." In many respects it is well written; however, we know virtually nothing about the characters. No background whatsoever (other than her parents are dead) about the narrator to explain why a 21-year-old behaves like an abused dog. No real background on Max such as why he married Rebecca in the first place. No background on why Rebecca was a twisted soul. Which leads us to our curiousity about Mrs. Danvers (we assume she was once married if she is addressed as Mrs.) because she is the one who raised Rebecca. No background on Jack Favell's dark side or how he and first cousin Rebecca became lovers.
Too many unanswered questions that could have added some wonderful complexity to the story. But hey, we know in excrutiating, repetitive detail all about Manderley's gardens.

Once in awhile we have to do a throwback to a novel not of this century. Yes, we have to. But that's OK because this one is about one of my all time favorites: Rebecca by Daphne Du Marurier (1938). It is the only book I have ever stayed up all night to finish just because I had to know what happened. Since then I have read it several more times but this time managing to get some sleep in.
Rebecca was inspired by Jane Eyre, written by Du Marurier in Cairo, Egypt while her husband was stationed there. This British author's bestseller was a surprising success and spawned several films, television shows, and other novels. However, as we all know, are almost never as good as the book, particularly since when the first film was made in 1940 and was required under Hollywood Production Code to change the ending in order to be shown. (Warning: Reading the Wikipedia entry will spoil it!)
Since a big part of enjoying this novel is staying wrapped up in the mystery and suspense created, I won't comment on anything that might give that away. The basic premise is a young lady while working as a traveling companion for a wealthy widowed woman meets Maxim de Winter, a handsome gentleman who makes her his bride and takes her back to his estate, Manderley. The young lady is mousy and unsure, struggling at times with why such a man as Maxim would want someone such as herself for a wife. While the reasons become more and more clear as the novel progresses, the couple can never escape the presence of Rebecca, Maxim's first and deceased wife.
Once at Manderley, the housekeeper Mrs. Danvers makes her appearance and continues to haunt, cause trouble and general nastiness to the young lady, as she was fond of Rebecca and refuses to accept her death. Mrs. Danvers earns her place in villainess history along side the Nurse Ratchets, Cruella de Villes and White Queens. She'll give you the chills as she sweeps along the long creaking halls of Manderley.
The story is told entirely from the young lady's point of view, starting a little slow, but really picking up speed mid-way through the story as the intensity in which Rebecca penetrates their lives (with the help of Mrs. Danvers) from beyond the grave. Once I hit the last third, it became a novel that could not be put down as the mysteries begin to unravel.
Because of the age of this novel there have been lots of printings, you could pick this one up at the library, used bookstore or chances are, borrow it from a friend, making it even that more attractive to pick up and give a try. This novel appeals more to women than men, I did get a male friend to give it a try, he liked it, but also referred to it as a very "feminine" story.

How about that for a chat-up line?
When someone told me they called their daughter 'Rebecca' for the character in this novel, my curiosity was raised. It is beautiful. The story is of the mysterious and unsolved death of the first Mrs Maxim De Winter, Rebecca, and how her death is discovered, with far reaching consequeces for an entire community. Mrs De Winter (the second one) got slightly on my nerves, but because she is so bland and neutral (and nameless!), she forms a perfect vehicle to narrate the story. Her gradual uncovering of the secret is our journey of discovery as readers. Her subsequent self-deception, however, does not fool the reader one bit.
Of course this novel contains one of the most famous opening lines in literature: 'Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again'.
Beware: if you don't like detailed and moody description, this is not the novel for you.

I have to say that I disagree with every review posted here. This book is not wonderful, but it is not awful either. It falls somewhere in the middle. Just okay. The beginning of the story where Rosa (heroine) is watching her friend Jason propose to her other friend Linda is hoaky and awkward. The middle of the book, where Wiggs describes the childhood relationship between Rosa (heroine) and Alex (hero) was the best part of the book. Then the reunion when they are adults seems predictable and boring. And the accident mystery I had solved chapters before Wigg's intended. Too predictable, and much of the writng was cliche and corney for me. Grade C-

This is one of those books that you still feel in your heart long after you have put it down. READ IT ! READ IT! You won't be sorry. I can not wait to read another Susan Wiggs novel.

Rose and Alex.....what a real story. It's more like real life than most books. The story was an easy fun read sprinkle with friendship, drama, death and love....the love was worth waiting for in their relationship. I really loved this book. Rose is who she is...Alex has to live around and beyond his parents to find who he is.
