After Dark Side of the Moon, I vowed never to read another Sherrilyn Kenyon book but after reading Acheron...I needed to know about Katra and her father so I read this one. It was worth buying and I would recommend it to any Sherrilyn Kenyon fan. Being biased after the disaster that befell Nick (my favorite character) my choice to not read another one of her books ever again seems a little childish now but I must say that the book where Nick kills himself I cried for weeks. The series is going in a direction that the readers will just have to sit back and see where it takes you...whether your favorite character lives or not.

I loved Devil May Cry. It answered many questions I had and was a lot of fun to read. I really liked Sin and I love Kat. The book even humanizes Apollymi.

This one read like an 'end of the world' episode of Buffy. Since I love Buffy, that was fine with me. The interactions between Xirena and Simi was also a hoot but I was a little disappointed there wasn't any mention of Alexion and Danger but oh well, can't have it all in one book.

Sin was just delicious. I loved him and Kat together and found his 'scoobie' support team of Kish and Damien equally delightful. SK has been really humanizing the Daimons lately and I feel for them a lot more especially since Kiss of the Night but it could be because there's something bigger and badder loose on the streets now.

This book really made me hate Artemis. It wasn't because she beats Acheron or because of the flashbacks into his past where she betrays him. It's because after all that, she still refuses to understand what she did was wrong and ontop of that, Acheron doesn't hurt her back when he is able to, right where it would hurt her the most, in her non existent heart.

One thing I did not like in this book was the part where Kat has to make a sacrifice in order for Sin to live. Acheron tells her as soon as she does this, it's permanent. No going back. Yet about five pages later her sacrifice is negated when Sin gives it back to her, as if it's just a little something she gave him to use temporarily and now that he's done with it, he gives it back. That's not a sacrifice. That's letting someone borrow something. Ugh. Since it was the very last part of the book, it really bugged me.

Anyhoo, I really liked the book. A lot of answers were given and I can't wait for Acheron's book to come out. In the meantime I'm going to tackle Xypher's book because SK really intrigued me about his possible story. I also kind of hope there is more of Hades in the future because I'm starting to like the little glimpses I get of him.

It's funny but if you've seen the tx show Hercules and Xena, that's how I picture all the gods and goddesses up there on Olympus.

Not as much about Sin as it is about ASH!

If I remember correctly, Devil May Cry was not as popular with the reviewer's as some of Kenyon's earlier Dark Hunter novels.

Me? I liked it, because no matter what other people say, Kenyon's not only did it as one of the firsts, she did it best. Sure there are times we feel cheated on some of the stories because we all have ideas on how some of these characters tales should be told and it would seem Kenyon is so busy cranking out their stories she doesn't seem to take the time to tell their stories properly. But that still doesn't mean I can't wait to get my hand on the next one as soon as it's released!

It's also been said Kenyon tends to make rules in her worlds then not follow them. That doesn't bug me too much, because, darn it, I like her worlds. (I really like the meshing of pantheons for some reason. In DMC we get a look at the Sumerian Pantheon which is cool because I happen to be intrigued by that area of mythology.)

For me, her DH books are like candy. I can read them fast and though the feeling of pleasure may night last long, the instant gratification is sweet and the memory of the pleasure lingers at the very least.

Devil May Cry is not really about Sin and Katra as one might be led to expect by the blurb. Yeah, their love story is in it, and I did enjoy the change of pace- Kat has very little baggage despite her genetics- but what makes the book better, is the insight we get into the most beloved secondary character in the Dark Hunter novels- ever!- our Acheron. He gets lots of air time in DMC- although Artemas has him hidden away in Olympus through much of it.

Still, I read DMC in one sitting, there is that!

Don't miss this one before you get to Acheron's book because some secrets are revealed that you'll want to know and ... supposedly ... after reading it, we've had a peek at Ash's happily ever after!!

Again Debbie Macomber has a winner on Blossom Street. Easy read, entertaining with a few surprises along the way. I love the way her books continue and remain tied together at the same time like real life. Her characters are real, with real problems and real solutions, not every one is mega rich with high powered jobs. Ordinary people living lives that are interesting and real.

Lydia Goetz has decided it's time to hold another beginners' knitting class at her store A Good Yarn and the lesson this time is prayer shawls. Two new students and two friends sign up and they all have their own stories to tell.

Susannah Nelson, owner of the flower shop on Blossom Street joins, as does her new employee Colette Blake. Colette has secrets about why she has come to town. Recently losing her husband in a fluke accident then having a fling with her boss after her husband's death that results in a pregnancy, she fled when she found some disturbing information about her boss Christian Dempsey.

Alix Townsend, who made her first appearance in The Shop on Blossom Street, also joined the class and is planning her wedding to young adult pastor Jordan Blake. Jordan's mother Susan and Alix's mentor Jacqueline are going crazy planning a huge wedding that is nothing like what Alix desires.

Then there's Margaret, Lydia's sister who has worries of her own. Her daughter Julia is the victim of a carjacking and the resulting stress is tearing the family apart. Julia is struggling with her terror at what happened and Margaret is angry and seeking justice.

Lydia is truly the heart and soul of Blossom Street and A Good Yarn. While she always plays a key role in the books, this time her story is toned down to give more time to dedicate to the others. She does however get her turn as we see her struggle with the ramifications that her bouts with caner may very well have destroyed her chances and adding to the small family she and Brad created with their marriage.

Margaret's tale is a disturbing one that really hits home with readers. After the car jacking, Margaret's life becomes consumed with finding justice, no matter what needs to be done. Julia is severely traumatized by what happened and her mother's anger and quest for vengeance are only making things worse. The result is their entire family is being torn apart. Margaret needs her sister and their friends more than ever right now as they try to help her understand that her anger is only making things worse. Margaret runs through a whole string of emotions as she tries to come to terms with what happened.

Readers who have been with the Blossom Street books from the beginning will remember the surly young woman Alix Townsend once was. She has blossomed under the love of Jordan and is a completely different woman now, though her insecurities about her life are never far from her thoughts. As they are planning their wedding, Alix changes from the happy young woman in love to a severely stressed girl who is terrified about going through with the wedding. A small private ceremony is more her style but Jacqueline and Jordan's mother are turning the wedding into a circus. The resultant stress nearly tears Alix and Jordan apart until her friends help her come to terms with what the wedding is really about - celebrating the love and marriage of two people who found each other with God's grace.

Newcomer Colette makes a significant impact on the women of Blossom Street as well. Her entire life at present is a confusing mess of emotions and fears. She mourns her dead husband and feels guilty about her feelings for Christian. At the same time, she is afraid of Christian when she uncovers details on her computer that lead her to believe he is involved in the trafficking of illegal aliens. How could she have any kind of tender feelings for a man committing such a crime? However, she does and every single day she is torn between longing to see him, wishing they could be together and determination to avoid him at all costs because of his crimes. I know I sure found myself hoping she was wrong about him so they could find peace and get together as they are meant to be.

Back on Blossom Street is another great emotional story. Debbie Macomber always makes me cry, a master of bringing out my deepest emotions with heart wrenching stories. She truly gets what makes relationships work between women and we see that wisdom on every single page. Here on Blossom Street, every character feels like a long time friend of mine and I eagerly anticipate catching up on their lives. I hunger for each new story in the series and Back on Blossom Street whets my appetite for Twenty Wishes, next to come.

I have one criticism for this whole series of books by Lara Adrian. She does not allow her characters to reach their full potential. Or maybe I should say they aren't allowed to release their inner caveman. The story overall is good and I enjoyed it, but it was safe. I was constantly waiting for Tegan to break loose and be the butt kickin' warrior he had bottled up for so long. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series and hopefully not in vain.

My favourite so far

Wow, what a book!
After the death of her son, Camden, Elise Chase leaves Darkhaven and goes to live in the city, hunting Rogues and minions for revenge and justice. Tegan sees her one night while she is attacked, but he can't convince her to leave her new "mission". When she manages to get an old diary coveted by Marek, Tegan takes her to the Order.
A clue about the diary's author points to Berlin, where Tegan is going to go to get information. Elise decides to accompany him, because being the widow of an important Darkhaven Breed, she has connections to the Enforcement Agency, which can be useful to Tegan.

Elise is a strong and intelligent heroine, but she also has a soft and vulnerable side. Both Elise and Tegan have suffered a lot, and their pain has changed them. They aren't interested in love, but they found themselves drawn to each other. Lara Adrian develops very well their relationship, without rushing it.
In the book there are also nice scenes with the other Breeds. I especially liked the interaction between the females, Sterling (he's becoming one of my favourite characters!) and a new interesting Breed, Andreas Reichen.
Regarding the worldbuilding, there's a good development, very promising for the next books. I really like the direction the series are taking, and I'm very interested in the next book, although I don't think Rio is ready for his HEA.

Maybe the Best Yet

I was delighted with this book. The characters evolved and didn't just end up together, the end. Both Tegan and Elise learned from the new hands life had dealt them and played very well off each other. They did the sort of maddeningly stupid, stubborn stuff that you do when you fall in love instead of go searching for it.

Elise is a smart, strong female character and Tegan is equally a frustrating but intriguing lead. The pair head out from Rogue beleaguered Boston to use the contacts in Germany to solve the war with Marek and a mystery that's as old as the vampire Order itself.

Readers of the series will be very surprised where the ending of the book takes them and how the bad guys our heroes of the Order battle will evolve. This may have been my favorite story in the series yet!

Having, like so many others, loved Ruiz Zafon's last best-seller The Shadow of the Wind/La Sombra Del Viento/ the Shadow of the Wind (Autores Espanoles E Iberoamericanos) I couldn't wait to get my hands on El Juego del Angel despite it not yet being available in English translation and my Spanish not being all that brilliant. I wasn't disappointed; El Juego del Angel is written in Ruiz Zafon's now familiar fluent, elegant style; his descriptions of 1920's Barcelona are as evocative as ever and El Juego del Angel is, in any language, a page-turner! The author cleverly returns to some of the familiar themes and fantasies used in Shadow of The Wind without this ever feeling like a 'poor relation' or sequel - this story, with its gripping central theme of a young, talented but (fatally?) nihilistic writer whose life is variously shaped, steered, dictated and saved by a mysterious 'angel', is completely new and fresh while still having some comfortable similarities.

Highly, highly recommended!

This is the parallel story of 'La sombra del viento' or The Shadow of the Wind. David Martin, a writer is given a task to write a book about a new religion. The 'boss' Andreas Corelli, offers a fortune for the task. Just like in the first book, the words that are written turn into a web that mixes reality with the imaginary. The Sempere character is also in the book and again there is a love triangle which includes the 'Cemetery of the forgotten books.' Mr. Zafon creates a great adventure of intrigue, romance, and tragedy through a labyrinth of treason and secrets, where the mystery of the written word, the passion and friendship create a wonderful masterpiece.

J. D. Robb's "In Death" series is one of the best that I have read and listened to. Susan Ericksen is fantastic as the narrator. Her individual characterizations for Eve, Roarke, Peabody, Finney, etc., makes the audio rendition of this series a must-buy and a collection keeper. Though the audio series started midway through the book series, having Susan Ericksen as the narrator throughout the audio editions means that there is very little deviation in the individual characterizations. Instead, the character consistencies make for a more enjoyable "listen" especially if done consecutively. I have all of the unabridged audios and listen to them often! (jsiobhanlei - 1/5/07)

The series really "LAUNCHES" here....

I've read most of the books in this series and I have to tell you that this one really made the series take off! The reader is welcomed into the lives of these characters with more depth and meaning than ever before. The story itself (The dating service and the serial killer) lends to enough suspense to keep the reader on the edge of the seat, but when one of "our own" (Peabody) goes undercover, you feel the fear akin to one of your own loved ones putting herself at risk.

An excellent story with quite an unexpected ending. I would recommend this series HIGHLY!

I have read the first book in the series "Naked In Death", and now have read the second, "Glory In Death". I found "Glory" to be just as good as I found "Naked" to be. Filled with deep characters, fast moving cases, and an interesting sci-fi futuristic backdrop, this series is a winner.

Like some reviewers have already stated, this is a mix of Police Procedural, Romance, and Science Fiction all bundled up into one great series.

Each book you learn more and more about the main characters, and can watch their relationships grow.

I definitely plan on reading all of this series.

I would start with book one and move on from there. That's what I'm doing.

Happy Reading!

Glory in Death is the second book in J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts's 'in death' series. The series employs a shamelessly over-the-top homicide detective & erotic romance combination to wonderfully fun effect.

On the one hand, the answer to the murder in this novel seemed a bit obvious to me early on; it was telegraphed a little more heavily than usual. On the other hand, Roberts managed to make me doubt my conclusions by throwing a few curve-balls into the mix, and that helped to keep me from feeling the kind of frustration I usually feel when it seems as though the mystery is revealed to the reader too early.

Eve and Roarke's relationship continues and deepens in enjoyable ways. It's still early enough that there are serious conflicts and sparks, but they're turning into a fantastic team. They have wonderful chemistry that brings both romance and sex alive on the page.

In this novel we meet Peabody, who's still in uniform (later in the series she becomes Eve's partner). I'm curious to read the intervening books, because at the moment I'm having trouble reconciling her current somewhat stern demeanor with her later openness and excitability. I'm looking forward to seeing how she changes over time and goes from one to the other.

In short, this isn't the best of the 'in death' novels, but it's definitely an enjoyable read!

I was very excited to get this book when it came out since I am a big fan of Dot Benton Frank's work. While this story does invoke the beautiful images of South Carolina coastal life - the charm of many of Dot's other books is missing. I could not wrap myself around much of the reasons behind the plot of the young southern girl fleeing her home town and everyone she loved. It seemed rather two dimensional to me. It also seemed far fetched that the secret she left town with would not have been revealed to her loved ones much sooner. I didn't relate to this character or cheer her on or feel particularly sorry for her either. This is a very different reaction I had from my sentiments towards most of Dot's other main characters. I do look forward to reading more of Dot's books but I hope that the plots don't seem as forced as this one did to me.

I should've downloaded a sample instead of paid for an order. Now I don't know how I can return this kindle edition book though I really cannot finish it.

The story is full of clichés (the part I read), the words are plain and the plot is very boring. A pretty girl from the modern world met a handsome prince, and they were in love in no time, and probably would be happily ever after. My 9 year old daughter might like it, or might not since she has already out grown the princess stories. It's just a waste of my money and time.

this debut book started well in the prologue, in telling an interesting background of the Legend of the Fairie Glen. My high hopes for a great story were quickly dashed by the sadly cliched, one dimensional hero and heroine. While the hero wasn't so bad, as usual, the author gave all her creative cake to the male lead and left the heroine the crumbs.

Cate was your typical weak, low self esteem "modern" heroine who must continually be rescued by her Scottish Highlander. Unfortunately, this seems typical for most of the Scottish Time Travel Romances I've tried. Authors-please quit teaming such strong male leads with "too stupid to live" heroines!

From the family/lover treachery storyline to even the "instantly loyal" wolfhound, the book rang of an amalgamation of storylines done to death and then some. I'm being generous with a 2.5 stars as this is a debut novel, but I won't be bothering to read the other books in this series.

Fun read! Very Entertaining!

This books was very entertaining. It is a fun read full of handsome men, magic, adventure and romance. I really enjoy historical fiction but tend to shy away from time travel books. This book, even though it had the time travel component, was very well written and completely captured my interest. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, historical romance and a little bit of magic.

Ho Hum

I found this one to be altogether ho-hum. Obviously the author put much thought into building the backstory. I did enjoy the fairytale told at the beginning and how it effects the rest of the tale. However, the author should have invested just as much time in the characters. I liked Cate and Conner well enough, but I felt like I was only getting surface emotions from them.

Between the fairies and magic, the Scottish setting, someone trying to kill the heroine, AND throw in the fact it's a time travel historical romance, there's alot going on. Given all that, you'd think I could recall enough to give you a thorough synopsis- but that's way more effort than the novel deserves as far as I'm concerned.

I basiclly picked this up because it was a time travel book not knowing the author. Most time I am disappointed but NOT this time! I loved it so much that I ordered her other 2 books and I'm reading the 2nd. one in the series now (which is turning out just as good) and I'm taking the book 3 in series on vacation with me! You SHOULD read this book you'll like it.

I kind of agree with the two previous reviewers, there is a lot of sexuality in this...but wait...isn't that what an erotica book is all about? I think it is a fun, sexy and intriguing book. Add it to your collection and you'll be happy. I've recently added this book, Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, and Paco Santiago's Endless Pursuits, all three of which have kept me daydreaming.....yummy.

Great from start to finish

Julie is the most beautiful girl in the world but oh so prude. She doesn't even want to enjoy sex with her soon to be husband.
Little does she know what is in store for her. Her fiances friend has big plans for her (even bigger then his large member) Soon she is putting out and servicing everyone all with the final result that Dave is the happiest man in the world once they are married!!
Get this book but keep at least one hand free so that you can pleasure yourself while you read; better yet have a loved one read it to you and pleasure yourself and them at the same time.

I enjoyed it as much as the characters seemed too

I found this book to be some of the better written erotica I have come across in quite a while. It is one thing to have a decent short story, but it is another to be able to carry the plot line long enough for a novella or short novel. The basic premiss of the book is somewhat stupid, but like an erotic film - are you really watching it for the plot?
I found the characters somewhat one dimensional at times, but then again, this is not a book by Dostoeyski. It is a fun read to get ones jollies to and it accomplishes that task.
If you like erotica, if you like group get ons, then this is a book you would probably enjoy.

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!!

What can I say about this book? It's filthy, it's vile, it's uncompromising, it's disgusting, and it's disturbing. It's taboo in EVERY way, AND...it's one pretty quick read, also.
In a word, it's PERFECT!!!
Dave thought he had it ALL. But then, his buddy Charlie set his ass straight. And then together, they sent Dave's love Julie down the road of complete sexual EXCESS. This book is phenomenal, IMHO.
It pulled together many things in my head that I have always wanted to see written about, and it put it all together in a way that is intelligent and honest. Mr. Chesterfield writes about Julie (near the end), 'A lot of people would not like the way she was, but she didn't care.' He tempers this though, by adding, 'Most people can't handle honesty especially when it deals with human honesty and desire." I know for a FACT that this is GOSPEL.
This book breaks MANY socially accepted norms, but does so with the undercurrent of THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH SEEKING OUT YOUR OWN PLEASURE AS LONG AS YOU'RE NOT HURTING ANYONE.
Charlie and Dave DON'T turn Julie out just to turn her into a slut...they do it to help her enjoy life more, which she (and many others) does because of this.
Julie: "I'm kind of mad at myself because of all I was missing out on."
The Librarian: "People really limit themselves by not considering all of their options..." is the TRUE undertone of this novel. People DO limit themselves, and not just sexually, within the IMAGINARY confines of what is PERCIEVED to be 'Normal' (I know I have), and I'm SICK of it.
Who says a book about sex and 'perversions' (although happy ones) can't change your life, and make you see things in a new (and MUCH more enjoyable) way.
To Mr. Chesterfeild, if you ever read this, I want you to know that I have TWO copies of this book. The digital version was just NOT enough for me; I just HAD to have it in my hands to be able to read it again and again and again (and I've read it FOUR TIMES already) it's THAT good.
Be prepared to have what you BELIEVED to be 'normal' living challenged, because, THIS BOOK is NOT about to take ANY prisoners of your preconceived notions of life, in general.

pretty much wrote about my complete fantasy of any girlfriend or wife

Turned out is a new term for me and one that is perfectly understandible especially after reading this wonderfull book. Its kind of every guy/girls fantasy rolled up into one story and you cannot put it down. I have had conversations with people about said book and truly believe girls who are sluts, but some one you can bring home to mom, would save numerous marriages. Not to be hypocritical, but if guys acted this way a bit it would probably make things better in a relationship.
I highly recommend this smart and erotic smut for any one who enjoys new and exciting stories.
