Made props to Mary B. for yet another sensational piece. This book has it all. Action, drama, sex, sex and more sex. Mary B. did not dissapoint with this compelling sequal. She knows how to end a book to keep you wanting for more and can teach other writers a thing or two. The ending was just enough to make you want more but not to be so dissapointed & to be like "huh?". I love the way the characters flow in this book and would love to see Grant and Honey "aka" Lace end up together and happily every after. I can't wait to see that shady pimp Valentino go down and hopefully what he did in jail will turn around and come back to him in the style of another great author, Wahida Clark. That would be awesome! Who let the dogs loose?! Can't wait for part 3.

what's sweeter than honey, and more valuable than money?

The second installment of the Honey Diaries begins where "Sweeter than Honey" left off. In WHO'S LOVING YOU, reformed madam Honey Thomas, aka Lace, is in Atlanta starting a new life for herself and her girls. After Detective Sapphire Bleu puts Honey's pimp, Valentino, behind bars, she gives Honey some of the unreported spoils to be used to do some good for others. As a result, Honey opens an agency to help women, who have been victimized, get back on their feet. Grant Hill, Honey's new love, is instrumental in helping her achieve this feat, but their relationship is destroyed when Grant's brother, Benito (Honey's ex-lover), gleefully informs him of Honey's former profession. Grant tries to distance himself from Honey as Benito tries to get closer because he believes she has money, and lots of it, which belongs to Valentino.

As Grant tries his best to stay away from Honey, he is just as drawn to her because of what they shared, so he sets out to find the truth. What he finds is a blast from his past who tries to keep him close to her at all cost. Detective Bleu also wants her money back from Honey. Benito, on the other hand, reconnects with Valentino and the two of them set out to divest Honey of the money she has received. The duo is so desperate to get their hands on it, they are willing to do anything to make it happen, even if it means killing again. How will Honey be able to escape the trouble headed her way?

With all the mind-blowing, over-the-top sex, the dizzying array of sexual partners, and the phenomenal amounts of money exchanging hands, it is hard to say just who is loving who in this book. Mary B. Morrison keeps us all intrigued and the pages turning with the antics of her characters and the many twists and turns this novel took. I gathered from the special message in the beginning that this book was meant to be a tool of empowerment for women; however, I questioned the use of the prostitution industry as the vehicle to do so. I got that this is an industry where women are victimized uselessly, senselessly and, sometimes, shamelessly; but I could not connect with any of the characters. This reader did get and did appreciate the motivation Morrison includes about learning to love yourself first.

If you love the Twilight Saga, Go Audio - LOVED It

The Twilight Saga is one of my favorite series. I started this series reluctantly by being encouraged to read Twilight by a friend. I checked it out of my local library and knew that I had to own it. Half way through, I queued up New Moon and Eclipse to start immediately upon completion. I then waited for the arrival of Breaking Dawn, which I completed the weekend it was released.

I have all the books on this series in audio and 3 in print, but I have to say, I prefer the audio by far. Ilayana Kadushin does a fabulous job giving Bella a voice and adds so much more depth and emotion to the story than I could personally get from print. Matt Walters is introduced as Jacob in the Epilogue in Eclipse and Book 2 of Breaking Dawn. He also does a great job of giving Jacob a voice.

As for the series itself, I loved it. Twilight, Eclipse are my favorites in this series, followed by New Moon and Breaking Dawn. I won't give an overview of the plot of each of the books as I won't be able to do them justice individually with limited words. I will summarize series as a whole by saying the first 3 in this series are really about love, conflict, choices with a little bit of the supernatural and some action involved. The last look in this series takes an unexpected turn and is more of a fantasy type novel with a little romance - different than what was laid out in the previous three books.

Breaking Dawn seemed to be received with more mixed reviews than the previous three because it deviated from the format laid out in the previous books. I had some mixed feelings about the story because of this, but I still enjoyed it.

This is a fabulous series that is aimed at young adults (mostly female) but has held the interest of adults like myself, and a smaller male audience as well. While the last book in this series is quite a bit different than the previous 3, its still one of my favorite series.

It's not a literary masterpiece and certainly has flaws, but the story laid out out and the world created are absoultely fascinating and highly entertaining. This is why is I think it deserves 5 stars....as well as the readers of the audio version. Great performances.

The audio version is definetly worth the extra expense. If you loved the Twilight Saga, this is a must have in my opinion.

I, for one, enjoyed this book just like have all of the others by Kenyon. It was a new twist on the DH series having a shape shifter in the mix and I loved the sarcasm myself. There is nothing like a little fun bickering to build suspense...or sexual tension. Everyone reacts to situations differently and how can you limit the personalities of characters when the world is so full of variety? It can get a little confusing keeping up with all of the characters but since the whole thing seems loosely based on Greek mythology, and the plethora of Gods and Goddesses in that domain, it is only fun that there are a lot of new and mysterious characters showing up. It brings in a lot of new material to work with in the future and makes you wonder how they are going to fit in the bigger picture. Over all a busy story that I will probably read it again and see if I can guess how the story line will come together.

Moning is renowned for her romances, but she should also be worshipped for her deftness in the paranormal genre.
I could not put this book down.
Makayla "Mac" Lane's whole world gets thrown in a new - and deadly - direction when the Dublin police telephone to inform her and her family that her sister has been found torn up and dead - murdered - in an alleyway. There are no leads and the case is being closed. Mac can not accept this fact and goes to Dublin against her parents wishes in search for her sister's killer to avenge her.
But now Mac is finding more evil than that which killed her sister, and a whole world she never knew existed. In fact, she's finding out things about herself she never even knew.

With a strong, sassy heroine, a smoldering, mysterious hero, and the fantastic plot and ideas of Mrs. Karen Moning a great series has been born.
Buy it. Read it. Love it.

Moning does a great job with the Fever series, the novels aren't all about sex and romance. If anything they are more about mystery and adventure. She blends in so many good aspects to make a good story.
How scary would it be to be in Mac's place? Your sister dies in Ireland and all of a sudden you can see monsters all around you? Wow. I'd have to say Mac is a strong character. She changes a lot in the book, necessary developments, and Moning does excellant work in bringing this about. The books are not confusing and everything happens in chronological order.
Dark fever left me waiting desperately for Blood Fever to come out. I HAD to know what happens to Mac. Moning is an author you want see good things from for the rest of your life. Her books leave you wanting more and more! I want to cry everytime I get to the last chapter because I dont want the book to end because its that good.

It was ok but not memorable.

I found this book to be an ok read. I found Mac the main character to annoying and shallow, way to obsessed with her appearance. The detailed descriptions of Mac clothes and appearance were way over done. When I read a book I really don't care if a character's outfit matches her pink manicure and pedicure. Maybe in the next books the author won't be as descriptive. I don't find the main characters likable and the story dragged. But I did finish it.

It's not like her Highlanders... it's better

When I first bought this book I was expecting another story along the lines of Moning's "Highlander" books. What I found was an enthralling urban fantasy that sucked me in and left me hanging.

The Fever books are NOT a series, they are a true serial, something you don't find very often. The driving plot extends through all three books, so you won't find any resolution in this book, only questions.

In this installment, MacKayla, or Mac, is dealing with the shock of her sister's death. Determined to find answers, she travels to Ireland and finds herself thrust into a strange world.

I love that this book constantly raises questions without offering easy answers, and that the answers, once found, come with questions of their own. We get a real feel for Mac and how she is forced to transform herself from and average American party-girl to a tough woman who is able to fight for her life.

While this is not a romance, there is tension between Mac and her one ally, Barrons. He is, at once, her only hope and possibly her greatest enemy. Despite the antagonistic nature of their tenative relationship there is a small thread of attraction between them. Even so, this is no romance and should not be misconstrued as one.

I highly recommend this book and this three book serial to fans of Moning as well as anyone who loves urban fantasy. It is intense with plenty of action and a storyline that will make the reader question everything that happens from cover to cover.

Warning: SPOILERS This book was a big WASTE OF TIME. The "heroine" was drugged by her brother & raped by his drug dealers, which of course, makes you sympathize with her and hope that she can overcome her problems and take charge of her life. She does none of this. She is getting a tattoo which is causing her to see a fairy realm, which is cool, but she doesn't even know what's going on until the last 5 chpts of the book (I'm thinking, finally!) but all that happens is that she willingly becomes some sexy fairy guy's sex slave. O_o I am not kidding. Through the whole book something will happen when her tattoo is finished and that's what happens. In the last chapter, she decides to leave him (but he could have easily made her stay -_-) & goes to college. The end. She didn't deserve what happened to her, but clearly she is a stupid girl who lets men run her life. She certainly didn't do anything to prove otherwise.

Love the book! Melissa Marr is the best ....

TALL DARK AN BOOOORING!!!

Review Date: 2008-08-26
I have really enjoyed the Argeneau family saga! I was looking forward to reading Bastien's story. Unfortunately - it was a big disappointment. Not going getting into the meat of the storyline as a lot of reviewers have described the plot (or rather lack thereof) rather well.

Other than the instant and powerful attraction between Terri and Bastien, the book had no oomph and it was terribly flat. As one reviewer aptly mentions, the only half hearted attempts at humor come from Vincent's biting Bastien's housekeeper and Chris - Kate's editor, whose constant bad luck gets him into "a series of unfortunate events" and constant whining make him a royal pain in the arse.

TALL DARK AND HUNGRY - seems to have been written by a completely different author. The book lacks the usual intensity in Sand's previous novels and it's a long and tedious narration (mostly nonsense) about Bastien and Terri dealing with a bunch of snafus pertaining to his brother's upcoming nuptials. Trivial and mundane details are given unnecessary importance and there is a lot of yammering and blathering about menial and mundane stuff that frankly you don't even want to read about!

SPOILER!!! To add to the disappointment - we have to read the YAWN YAWN "terrible misunderstanding" Terri and Bastian have. Yes, we could have done without that too.

Same old meet, minor problems, happy ending

While this book reminds me of the book that got me started on the series
my personal favorite of the series Single white vampire it is more of a
repeat but without the laughs. Bastien and Terri fall in love during the
week before Lucern wedding, Chirs Keys is there cause a toliet fell on him through the bathroom ceiling of the apartment. Thomas cause he is acting in a musical. While it introduced more family memebers it was more or the same story line come on two family members already met during wedding perparations both Lissi's Ettiene with Rachel she attended Lissi's wedding shower, and Kate with Lucern she arrived just in time to attend Lissi's wedding with Lucern while pestering him about
publicity stuff. While wedding are surpose to be romanic it would have
been nice to have more change in how they met. Same trying to be humorous by having Keyes react to Bastien being naked before him as Lucern was in single white vampire, same happy ending. Read when you feel like a light read.

I love Lynsay!!

Well, Sands didn't disappoint. When I am in the mood for some hot and steamy romance, I go grab my Argeneau series from my bookshelf. This is the story about one of the Argeneau brothers, Bastien.

The story was funny and you find yourself laughing out loud every now and then as a new scene unfolds.

Can't wait to read Argeneau books number 10 and 11. Sands, in her website, mentioned that book 10 will be out late this year while book 11 will come right after.

If you are reading the entire Argeneau series, you can't miss this one, because it provides some important back story to some of the later novels. Unfortunately, I found it to be the slowest paced of the entire series. I rated it a 3 because it's important to read it, or some of the later stories will not make any sense, but you may have to hold your eyes open if you're reading it before bed.

Hale has mastered these other kingdoms so unlike our own, yet so familiar. Book of a Thousand Days brings to life a little known Grimm's tale (not for the Disney-hearted) and a way of life from long ago, far away. However, the book resonates with teens who are beginning to question social order, traditions, and justice. The story links an orphaned maid, a princess, a yak, a chamber pot, magicians, ankles, and a cat (along with many other things) into a romance-courtroom drama-growing up-suspense novel with numerous humorous moments. I actually wanted it enough to pay for a hardcover based on the cover notes and the author's other work. Having read it, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Disappointing

Review Date: 2008-08-24
I started reading this book with high hopes; everyone seems to really like it. But I found I had to force myself to finish. It certainly wasn't worth the effort. The plot is boring, the characters are one-dimensional and hard to understand, and the prose itself is awkward and doesn't flow well. I suppose you could argue that since the book is supposed to be a diary written by a young woman who has only recently learned to write, the poor quality of the text could be intentional. If that's so, it's a bad choice on the part of the author, and it doesn't explain why the 18 year old protagonist seems more like an 8 year old.

The book does pick up a bit at the end, and I actually enjoyed a few pages at that point. Nevertheless, this book doesn't deserve all the praise it's been getting. People searching for young adult fantasy books with strong female protagonists might want to try someone like Robin Mckinley instead of Shannon Hale.

I enjoyed reading this book. This is a clean book. There is no bad language which is unusual especially for a young adult book; so I appreciated that. This book was definitely a great read, I just couldn't put it down until it was over, the story may be old but it's written in such a fantastic language and all the characters are so vivid, Dashti in particular. I couldn't quite symphathisize with lady Saren being so week, but by the end of the book she sort of finds herself. It was my first book by Shannon Hale but now I'm lookingfor further reads from her.

Another Great Book from Shannon Hale

Dashti, a lady's maid, is locked in a tower with Lady Saren, her charge. Lady Saren is being forced into the tower as punishment for refusing to marry Lord Khasar, the man to whom her father has betrothed her. Instead, she favors the much kinder Khan Tegus. The story is told from Dashti's point of view, and things get really interesting when both suitors show up at the tower. This is the starting point for many other adventures.

I've been a fan of Shannon Hale for years, and this book did not disappoint. I really liked that Dashti had a valid cultural reason for being submissive, as opposed to just being a weak-willed martyr, which one sees so often in other novels. Also, her growth as a person over the course of the story was written gradually and patiently and ends up being very effectively relayed. It's details like this, obviously crafted with care by Hale, that make this book so wonderful. The characters are believable, the plot is exciting, and the romance is sweet, but never cloying. Fans of Shannon Hale will surely love this book. If you haven't read anything by Hale yet, this would be a fine place to start, along with The Goose Girl.

Stop in the Name of Pants! is the ninth book in the Georgian Nicolson series, which is full of hilariousity, lurrve, bestest pallies and all the things that make being a teenage girl the rollercoaster ride that it is.

This hilarious, British series for teens is best appreciated when read in order:

1. Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging
2. On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God
3. Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas
4. Dancing in My Nuddy Pants
5. Away Laughing on a Fast Camel (or outside North America, And Then It Fell Off in My Hand)
6. Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers
7. Startled by His Furry Shorts
8. Love Is a Many Trousered Thing

I fell in love with the first book, found the series dragged in books two and three (was very disappointed Georgia never went to Kiwi-A-Go-Go-Land), but then was delighted I stuck around, because the series eventually found a great pace starting with Away Laughing on a Fast Camel.

When we last left Georgia at the end of Love Is a Many Trousered Thing, she had left the Cake Shop of Lurrve with the Italian pastry, otherwise known as the Lurrve God, after eschewing Robbie, otherwise knows as the Sex God, with a firm hand. But then Dave the Laugh had to go and spoil it all with a kiss. What's Georgia to do?

Well, I'm not going to spoil it by telling you, but I will tell you Stop in the Name of Pants is full of the romance and humor that has made this series an international hit, and fans of the series will not be disappointed. I will also tell you this book, like the last four, ends on a cliffhanger, or as Georgia would put it, with her once again on the Rack of Lurrve. I can also tell you there's a dramatic event in this book that surprised me and had me in tears, but it still fit the series perfectly. It's always nice when a series can continue to surprise you as far in as book nine and yet remain true to itself.

Oh, and one small problem--this book is missing the Snogging Scale. Of course, the reader can always refer to an earlier book for that, and some bonus features here include instructions for The Viking Bison Disco Inferno dance, The Snot Disco Inferno dance, and The Viking Disco Hornpipe Extravaganza dance; the Having a Hump Scale (which is what we call "getting mad" in Hamburger-A-Go-Go-Land); the Losing It Scale; and of course one of Georgia's glossaries, which explains UK English words in a way that only Georgia can.

The Georgia Nicolson books are a laugh-out-loud treat, and they are even better in audio. I'm also looking forward to seeing the first movie, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, when it arrives in the USA, the sooner the better.

Nunga Nungas or not, Georgia Nicolson knocks me out!

Ok, so this is a young adult book, but I'm the mother of a teen, and I loved it! My daughter laughed out loud so often while she was reading, that I just had to read it, too. Though neither of us have read any of the author's other works, we're both planning on getting more. The main character is easy to identify with, and she's just so bubbly and fun that you can't help but love her and her antics.

Rennison has done it again with a nother hilarious book. Her writing is so crazily refreshing and honest. This series keeps me laughing out loud at the antics and descriptions.

I think she has done a great job of getting into the head of a teenager and all the psychodrama of her life--especially how melodramtic dating can be. This is like Bridget Jones for teenagers.

I had not read the other Georgia books so I was a little lost in the beginning. The dictonary in the back help with some of the terms she uses which can get very confusing.
I think I am just too old for this book. I can't remeber being like this as a teenager and can not relate to Georgia.
By the end I felt for her but was glad it was over.

ok i know i sound confusing but hear me out.
this book was confusing in the fact that the time shifts were not real clear, and kept shifting back and foward with no warning to the reader.
The story line was` a good one though and if you can stick with it, you'll like it.
I just wish the author was a little more mature in the thought process of her plots.

Very strong sequel

I rarely find authors who really grip me from first to last in a book. Most fizzle out with a strong opening that steadily goes downhill, or a nice ending to an otherwise blah book. The Cassandra Palmer series is the exception. All of the books start strong and stay that way throughout, making for a very enjoyable read. I really liked the first in the series and was happy to see that the sequel had all of my favorite characters back and in better form than ever. Love Billy, Cassie's crazy ghost sidekick, and of course, Mircea the master vampire. Pritkin is even starting to grow on me, which was a surprise. I have Embrace the Night in my tbr pile and will shortly be getting to it as I really want to know where this series is going.

I read the first in the series (Touched by Dark) when it first came out in 2006, and I remember liking it, but not what it was about. Chance did a great job revisiting the first story without it being redundant or obvious. This was a great paranormal romance. It has the tension of possibility but doesn't focus only on that. The story has action out the wazoo with the heroine being on the run at the same time chasing down her own ghost and trying to save lives. I like the fact that even though she has the power to kill, she doesn't devalue life and chooses not to kill. Even those who seem deserving. I'm looking forward to reading the third.

The second book in the Cassandra Palmer Series by Karen Chance is full of crazy drama and great paranormal characters.

Cassie is on a major tear to find and punish Tony, the vampire that ruined her family years ago. With her new powers as Pythia, although not fully realized, Cassie is even more a target for the shady elements of paranormal society than usual and trouble is never far from poor Cassie. Within the first few pages Cassie (and her new friends the Three Fates) practically destroy a casino and almost get captured/killed by the Silver Circle.

Her one ally in this book is Pritkin, the slightly trigger-happy war mage of the Silver Circle. Pritkin helps Cassie as she travels through time in an attempt to save Mircea, the vampire who protected her throughout her youth, from Myra, the sybil who had been heir to the Pythia before falling in with Rasputin. Without Mircea protecting Cassie from Tony, Cassie's not sure she'd have made it to adulthood -- not to mention a flood of other possible changes in their timeline. To protect the timeline as well as herself Cassie has to save Mircea at least twice in the past.

This wouldn't be a major problem except for the geas that was placed on Cassie by Mircea that draws them together - and keeps other men away. Since Cassie has the geas in the present but Mircea doesn't have it in the past seeing Cassie there unintentionally casts the geas back onto Mircea. By the time Cassie sees Mircea again in the present the geas has practically crippled Mircea with the need to be near her - it's physically painful to both of them to stay away.

To add to the drama, the power of the Pythia wants to fully exert it's office over Cassie and to do that it has been making every man seem like a delicious dish. She first realizes this when she is absolutely attracted to Pritkin (lol). Cassie does assume the full office of Pythia with Tomas, which I wanted to happen in the first book early on but not so much by the second book.

I liked this second book much better than the first because the characters were already established and the plot could just move forward. Cassie's life is hectic and dangerous and Cassie does not want the power of the Pythia which means she's perfect for the job. I can't wait for the next book.

Loved it--but complicated

I love this book. Karen Chance has great ideas and such. I love her characters. But in some parts of this book, I had to re-read because it's was confusing. It seemed bundled together.

Great Book I enjoyed the way it was written and the way she sticks with the storyline and not bouncing around.

2nd Book in a great series of stories

"Dark Desire" is the 2nd book is a series of stories about the Carpathians. Not evil, but immortal and blooding drinkers, these compelling beings are under attack by true vampires and humans that hunt vampires. Jacques, a Carpathian who is younger brother to the Prince, has been taken captive and torchured by evil men and left in a basement in an abandoned building to suffer for years. He is able to overcome his pain and communicate with a woman who will become his lifemate. This story is interesting and unusually different than the others in the series. I have tried to read the series in order since characters are innerwoven throughout others' storylines. Dark Desire explains a lot about the history of Carpathians, and the physical and metaphysical differences between humans and immortals. Author, Christine Feehan, has a great immagination and writes well.

Even after everything he'd been through, I had a hard time liking Jacques and I wanted to like him. He'd been so sweet and giving in Dark Prince, you just knew his story was going to be an easy one.

Boy was I wrong, but pleasantly surprised. Christine (funny, that I feel like I know her!) really made me WORK at getting to a place where I could even feel sorry for Jacques. That kept me turning pages.

You'll be rooting for him by the end!

What jacques goes through really gets to you. This story is about a love that stands through thick and thin. Jacques needs Shea just as much as she needs him. This novel is well written and filled with enough drama for an emotional roller coaster ride.

Write on, read on
