Heather's Gift (Men of August, Book 3)Review Date: 2008-09-24
A decent enough ending Review Date: 2008-08-06
Sam, the hero, was by far the most compelling of the August brothers. His journey to find some semblance of peace was heartbreaking at times, annoying at others. But it makes him the best of the lot to me.
Heather, the heroine, has been the only female in the whole series that makes a serious attempt to get to the bottom of the whole story. And for that reason alone, she's got my vote for favorite heroine.
The culmination of the saga of the August brothers was wrapped up well for me, with all three couples as happy as can be expected, given their circumstances.

Another charmer from PolaccoReview Date: 2008-08-21
The story is about Danielle, a young teacher with a kitten named Autumn. The gray kitty shares Danielle's life, pouncing at her ankles as she walks, and curling up with her in the evening with a bowl of popcorn. When the young woman gets a new job in a seaside village, Autumn "helps" her pack and move into her new cottage. Autumn disappears one stormy night and Danielle's students help her find the kitten, and her true love, as well.
The heart of this book, as in other Patricia Polacco books for kids, is in the illustrations. The delicate full-color watercolors bring the story to life, and capture tiny moments like Autumn leaping toward a dragonfly on a flower. The faces of Danielle and her students show such expression. Even without the depth in the story, the book is worth it just for the artwork.
Other good choices from Polacco: The Lemonade Club, Ginger and Petunia, I Can Hear the Sun (Picture Puffins), When Lightning Comes in a Jar, Mommies Say Shh! and The Bee Tree.

Born in Shame by Nora RobertsReview Date: 2008-05-19
I enjoyed the audio version of all three books and will share them with friends. As with the second book, I loved revisiting the first two sisters and taking a look at what was happening with their lives. A great series, do not miss them!

3.5 stars. The plot was a little weak, but on balance, I enjoyed the story.Review Date: 2008-07-04
The plot for Shannon and Murphy follows. Murphy owns the family farm in Ireland. There are some stones in a circle on his land that have a mystical quality. When Murphy was a boy, he had a dream of a knight and a woman meeting at the stones. The woman was Shannon. He continued to have dreams/visions of Shannon throughout his life. When Shannon arrives in Ireland, she begins having the same dreams. Murphy is the knight in the dream. Murphy knows immediately that she is the love of his life. He courts her and pursues her and wants to marry her. Most of the story is about her reluctance to give up her career in New York and be with him in Ireland.
The best part of this story was Murphy's love and total commitment to her. I kept wanting her to choose him. The main conflict in the story was her delay and hesitation. That was ok but not the best kind of plot for me. The group of characters were pleasant to read about.
Maggie's and Brianna's stories are told in books 1 and 2 in the series. I gave 5 stars to "Born in Fire" and 2 stars to "Born in Ice."
Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: six. Setting: current day Columbus, Ohio, the village of Kilmihil, County Clare, west coast of Ireland, and Dublin. Copyright: 1996. Genre: contemporary romance.
For a listing of my reviews of other Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb books, see my 4 star review of "Angels Fall" posted on 6/30/08.
Born In ShameReview Date: 2008-02-23
When she meets Brianna and Maggie's neighbor Murphy Muldoon, they find an unexpected connection and immediate attraction. He had been dreaming of Shannon for as long as he could remember, and knew they were destined to be. Shannon was a painter, and Murphy loved his little piece of country life. He didn't know how they could intertwine their lives, but knew she was a part of him.
I wasn't impressed with the flashbacks and past life twists. Overall the characters lacked the development I expect.

Okay I really wanted to like "Delicious" by Susan Mallery, but I could get pass what poor character Cal was! He was the most self-center character that I have seen in a very long. I have the other books in the "Buchanan" series, so I am hoping that it will get better.

Sweet...Review Date: 2008-09-16
Sweet & SourReview Date: 2008-09-15
It had a little bit of magic, a little bit of small-town life, characters you felt at home with, and a sort of folksy feel.
However, the writing...the writing drove me batty. Mixed tenses! Subjunctive? What's subjunctive? Sloppy syntax. Very high-school. It is distracting to read a sentence, and then have to read it again because its grammar makes the meaning unclear.
This is partly the writer and partly the editor. Details count. And in this case they count against. Allen should keep writing; practice makes perfect.

ELIJAH IS MUST THAN A WARRIORReview Date: 2008-09-18
The third book of this saga is equally intense and passionate. We discover much more about this Nightwalker world, where the demons, lycanthropes and vampires mostly cross their ways, their lives and their loves in order to survive.
Good, But Not As Good As First TwoReview Date: 2008-08-13
I enjoyed her first two books of the series tremendously. Elijah however, starts off very slowly. There's very little dialogue in the first couple chapters and if you haven't read the first two books I'm not sure you could understand it. You wouldn't get the interplay and the attraction between the two lead characters. As a reader, you also wouldn't understand the other couples and their backstories. I would suggest you not start with this book. It's not a stand alone. I also found a lot of the story unplausible or didn't ring true based on what has happened before.
The book picks up its pace about mid-way through. The last 50 pages or so are very good and action packed. I don't agree with some other reviewers about ending the book before the get together takes place. I think this serves the purpose of making the series flow. I recommend this book to followers of the series in order to stay up on what is happening for future books. However, I am concerned that the series may start repeating itself and going downhill. I look forward to the next book to see if the author turns it around.

In the very beginning of her co-chairing responsibilities, she falls for the executive director and things start to heat up quickly. The lying and sneaking and problems as co-chair are enough to keep anyone entertained!

Claire Danner Crispin is a mom and wife who lives in a lovely house Nantucket. She seems to have everything but she's still so insecure. That's probably why she'll want to risk everything to have an affair with this annoying guy. I don't like him, he's rude. but it's a good story :))
