After 8yrs of dating and 4yrs of marriage, our relationship had become...well, boring. Our date nights, if we had them, were typical dinner and a movie. Something was definitely missing. A church marriage counsellor recommended this book along with The 5 Love Languages. It is a must read for BOTH spouses. Do not expect results with only one partner reading and/or applying it!
Excellent book for couples!

If you are thinking about buying this book or any other relationship book - do not delay! Dr. Harley's books (including His Needs, Her Needs) have been very helpful to my marriage following a crisis. He makes excellent points that somehow seem to reach both of us and explains things in a way that both of us understand without either one feeling hurt or attacked. It is a terrific book, and I believe anyone who reads it and adopts it in their marriage will see improvement.

As with all of Christine Feehan's Paranormal Romances, this is excellent too. So steamy arousing. Sometimes I feel as if these books of hers are written totally from a man's mind though(please don't take offense Christine). Men would diffidently enjoy reading them just from what many men think are a woman's reaction to their sexual prowess. The women only wish it were so. Read and enjoy women.
I could do with more of the suspense or mystery. Also, the romance gets to be so detailed steamy too often in the middle of what should be action (I roll my eyes and want to skip). I do love the parts where I cannot read very well because my tears are disturbing my view.
I was only introduced to Christine Feehan's books two months ago in a discount book store by another woman browsing beside me. I have caught up to waiting for her next publications, already! I always purchase books because I read them over every two or three years. They are fresh to me then.

I adore this entire series and I have just finished Dark Guardian and I'm on to the next one. I have to say that I get a little annoyed by Jaxxon and all the women like her who are all "Sex me Sex me" but then two seconds later are like "I want my freedom ya' BIG Jerk" It frustrates me to no end.
I loved Dark Legend and Aiden's story as well. I recommend these to everyone just maybe not so much Dark Guardian.

and then there'll be the other ones you read afterwards.
Well this is just how I feel.
I picked up "Dark guardian" without knowing that it was the 8th book in a series, but as it's happened to me in the past it didn't surprise me too much:)
Anyway I have to say I was memerized by this book, I couldn't put it down, I felt it was really well written and so fascinating. So the few days it took me to read it, I really enjoyed it immensely.
Afterwards, I sought to get more books from the same series... and I've been hugely disappointed. It feels to me like it's always the same basics. Different characters, different bad guys, but same storyline all the time. I'm on my 4th book and I'm not sure I'll be reading any more after that.
Dark Prince was great because it was interesting to discover Mikhail and Gregori... but I'm currently reading Dark fire and it's just "same old, same old". Yeah, the characters are new, but the story is just the same. Beautiful girl found by equally handsome Carpathian guy, who makes her his lifemate, bla bla, bla bla.
Dark guardian stood out in the way that it was a whole new universe for me. I found the sex scenes well written too. But then again, I skipped most of them in Dark Prince, there were just too many!!!
I don't know, I'm not sure I'll read more.
My advice if you're getting started on this series: choose your first book well, as it'll probably end up being your favourite. and you don't need to read all the books in order, because you'll get all your explanations in whatever book you choose.
I thought the Anita Blake series (Laurell K Hamilton) was becoming a bit.. boring, but each book is still very different from the previous one. And sadly, it's not the case for Christine Feehan's books. A shame.

It is a good book. It follows the series well, the plot stays with the ones that come before it.
The sex scenes are too drawn out, the story line is good though. I have become accustom to skipping the 3-4 page long sex and then starting to read again.
I'll continure to buy the dark series, just because I like the stories.

I found this book to be a much better read then the other 'Dark' books I've read.
However,I felt the author should have made Jaxon more objective to her 'Carpathian' transformation, instead of calmly accepting it. After all she is supposed to have a very independent nature!
The other complaint I have about this book is the use of the word 'honey'
Come on, Lucian is 2000yrs old, with Old World manners. So, wouldn't he use terms of endearment he learnt eons ago before he lost all emotion, and since his speech tends to reflect this, instead of the modern day endearments?
Except for those 2 objections, I enjoyed the book and found I couldn't put it down, till I reached the end. The chemistry between the H/H was great, very believeable.
A star less, because of the two complaints.

The 10th story (9 novels, 1 novella) in the In Death series gives readers a break after the emotional intensity of the preceding book, Conspiracy in Death.
Instead of a murderer or a serial killer, this time NYPSD homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas is up against terrorists who are bent on blowing up NYC landmarks.
The Good:
The characterization. As always, that's J.D. Robb's (Nora's) genius. Whatever the plot, she nails the characters.
The balance between seriousness and exaggeration. In this book, much is larger than life, but it's balanced with some serious and emotional scenes.
The continuing story. We get developments in Eve's past and in Peabody's life, and my personal favorite: Eve and Roarke's relationship continues to develop at a realistic pace.
The Bad:
I had a problem with the explanation for the first murder.
The motivation for the terrorist group was unclear.
The subject matter might hit a little too close to reality for some readers.
The Unusual:
It's a departure for the series, and I found I enjoyed it more if I viewed it as such. It's a bit over the top, moreso than other books in the series, as is particularly evident in the opening and closing scenes.
The Verdict:
It's an exciting, lively story, and the developments in the personal lives of several of the characters are well worth the read and a good addition to the series.

Even the future can't change the evil of of a terrorist organization's heart. Means, motives and methods all adapt to meet the changing techologies, but the one constant is the madness moving the characters involved.
Now, 50 years in the future, it falls on the shoulders of Eve Dallas to defeat terror's latest birth child....
A great story. I loved it more than most of the early Eve Dallas books. The characters become more lifelike with each story told and this one brings them out of the realm of fantasy, into a reality that is all their own....
A very exciting read!

Just when you think you know all the turns JD Robb can take you, she still takes you to the edge with these main characters, Eve & Roarke! She is lively, edgy, and never disappoints! Roarke adds just the edge she needs! It will make you laugh, pause & sigh, and keep turning the pages until you finish. Never gets old, as the character are always entertaining! Fast read.

this book was not very good. there were 3 of the 4 authors that wrote these stories who were favorites of mine. angela knight, lora leigh, and emma holly. I did not like their contributions to this particular novel. and diane whiteside was completely boring and not in the same arena with the other type stories. I was very surprized that I did not like none of my favorites in this book. I gave this one 2 stars.

I just loved the twist in Angela Knights story. I hope she continues with this world, hothothot.
As usual I loved Lora Leigh's story. It was a great mix of sex and suspence, I love these "breed" stories!
Diane Whiteside her story was filled with magic and love. Not as hot as the other stories but just as stong.
And last and certianly forgettable, Emma Holly. I didn't have a urge to finish this story. Her latest books and novella's have fallen short.
Overall for lovers of hot sex and the paranormal this is a must read.

This book contains the following four stories.
5 stars for DRAGON'S DANCE by Angela Knight.
Creative, new, different, fun. Humans with special powers are called Hypers. Some are good and some are bad. I don't want to give away some of the fun surprises, so I won't tell any more of the story, other than it was well done and worth buying. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: three. Setting: current day Blue Ridge Mountain area in U.S. Genre: paranormal romance.
To date, I have read the following Angela Knight stories.
5 stars. Dragon Dance (in anthology "Beyond The Dark"). Copyright 2007. Review Date 12/31/07.
3.5 stars. Jane's Warlord. Copyright 2004. Review Date 4/3/07.
2 stars. Master of the Moon. Copyright 2005. Review Date 6/15/08.
3 stars for IN A WOLF'S EMBRACE by Lora Leigh.
Some parts wild, wicked and fun. Other parts a little weak. Too much time was spent in the thoughts of Matthais, thinking and worrying about losing her and his life without her. Too much time was spent with Grace rejecting him and wanting to get away from him after seeing him shoot another man. But otherwise, it was enjoyable. Story brief: Matthais is 1/2 wolf and 1/2 human. His breed has only one mate for life. He meets Grace and knows she is his. He spends time with her. Then she sees him execute a man who had tortured others. Matthais kidnaps Grace and she eventually gives in and falls in love with him. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: five, some several pages long. Setting: 2003 New York city and Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.
For a listing of my reviews of other Lora Leigh books, see my review of "Tempting the Beast" posted on 6/30/08.
2 stars for CAUGHT BY THE TIDES by Diane Whiteside.
Not entertaining enough. Something was missing. I wasn't emotionally invested in the characters. I was bored with the way the author described the lifestyle, schooling and lack of parenting of mages, as well as the powers of mages and magick of the land. I'm having a hard time describing what was wrong, but overall I was not entertained. Story brief: A British spy, Owen who is a mage, just returned from spying on Napoleon in France. He is injured and Emma heals him. Trevelyn is a spy for France, living in England and is also a mage. He and Owen fight. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: two. Setting: 1803 English coast. Genre: historical, paranormal romance.
For a list of my reviews of other Diane Whiteside books, see my 2.5 star review for The Irish Devil posted 8/31/08.
2 stars for QUEEN OF ALL SHE SURVEYS by Emma Holly.
Something is missing, I'm not sure what. I kind of wanted it to be over. The plot is about having sex, not much else. The king has a large sexual appetite. His son Memnon, does as well, but he chooses one woman per month to be with. An enemy queen has a stable of harem men. She uses several of them every day to service her. Her army captures the king's army and she requests Memnon as the ransom. Memnon goes to her at his father's command. He is so good in bed, or should I say they are so good for each other, that she keeps him and no longer uses her harem of men. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: six, some several pages long. Setting: ancient Yama civilization on earth. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.

Beyond the Dark is a pretty good book if you are into the paranormal romance genre. Fans of Angela Knight and Emma Holly will enjoy these offerings from them, which are the typical high quality we've come to expect from these authors. I also enjoyed Diane Whiteside's offering although I was not familiar with her work. I felt Lora Leigh's novelette was the weakest of the four but it was still worth reading. While this collection is not really a "must read", it does have merit and is worth a look for veteran readers.

This is a collection of four stories by well-known authors of paranormal romance of the more erotic variety.
DRAGON DANCE by Angela Knight
This story started off excellently with our heroine, Arial Dean, trying to negotiate the release of a woman and two children in a hostage situation. Initially the story seems to be an ordinary hostage situation but then we learn that the man who has taken his wife and children hostage is a Hyper, someone who has some extra powers. These powers became apparent in the population five years before and can have devastating effects on the mental states of those who become Hyper. Arial and the other law enforcement officers have to call in Tracker, a Hyper who works for the Feds, to try to deal with the hostage taker. When Tracker arrives he and Arial rescue the family, but with some collateral damage - to Arial. When Arial realises she has become a Hyper and turns to Tracker to help, she is starting a new journey in life where she discovers there is a lot more to the Hypers than previously thought. Arial's personal Hyper skills may be necessary to defeat the evil Kali, a woman who has taken six slaves and wants to get Tracker and Arial too.
This story was interesting and well written although the sex scenes felt rather unnecessary to the plot, at least in the detail in which we were given. The situation of the Hypers was interesting and I would have liked more to be made of it. However it was an enjoyable read and the characters were well drawn and appealing. Four stars.
CAUGHT BY THE TIDES by Diane Whiteside
This story follows Emma Sinclair, a young widow, who sees a man washed ashore near her home in Cornwall and goes to rescue him from the incoming tide. Although he's far too heavy for her to lift she finds that the magickal spells she learned years ago, that never previously worked, seem to help him. She nurses him to health, finding his recovery amazingly fast. This is because Owen Bentham is a King's Mage and messenger and Emma herself has previously unknown magickal abilities - she is a chalice which means she can amplify the power of a mage. Owen's mission of returning from France with the antidote to a spell that Napoleon could use to find safe UK harbours was disrupted by a local mage working with a French mage; that local mage wants to both kill Owen and take over Emma's chalice skills. Owen and Emma have to work against him, utilising the magick stored in Emma's house and some new magic of their own.
This was a charming enough story set in an interesting time (the time of Napoleon) with magickal overtones. The romance side was an instant love-at-first-sight rather than anything more deep and complex but was pleasant enough to read. There were some aspects of the story that didn't quite work for me, such as the Gryphon's occasional appearances, but it was a reasonable read. Four stars.
QUEEN OF ALL SHE SURVEYS by Emma Holly
This story is another set in Emma Holly's Yamish world (also visited in full-length novels 'The Demon's Daughter' and 'Prince Of Ice') and the story has some similarities with 'Prince Of Ice', at least as far as the special mating abilities of the Yamish royals go. However the other background of the Yamish world isn't really featured in this story and it works perfectly well as a stand-alone short story. The hero of this story is Memnon, only son of King Ravna, whose battles in the long-running war with Queen Tou aren't very successful. King Ravna agrees to give his son to Queen Tou as a war tribute in order to have captured soldiers released. Memnon is sent to Tou's city and has to join her harem of men. It soon becomes apparent, however, that there is something special between the two of them; Tou is god-touched and King Ravna had also received the favour of the gods - it seems that Ravna's son and Tou might have a special affinity for each other.
Much of this story is taken up with the sexual antics of Tou and Memnon but there is also an attack on Tou's city which forms a brief part of the plot at the end. The main focus is always the relationship between Tou and Memnon which is described in detail. Like all Emma Holly's books this is a well written story set in an interesting world but the short story form leaves little room for much plot other than the sexual relationship and I would have appreciated more detail about the rest of the situation of Tou and Memnon. Four stars.
IN A WOLF'S EMBRACE by Lora Leigh
This story is apparently part of a series as there are several other characters named whom we don't actually meet. The hero, Matthias Slaughter, is a Wolf Breed, a man who has been genetically engineered with wolf genes and who, along with the other Breed, was experimented upon and tortured for much of his life. He and the other Breed members now work to track down those responsible and bring them to justice - in Matthias' case, often summary justice. Unfortunately when he shoots Dr Benedikt Albrecht in the back of the head in his hotel room, he doesn't realise a young woman was in the room too; not just any young woman but Grace Anderson, the woman he realises is fated to be his mate. He kidnaps her so that she can't turn him in, takes her to her cabin in the country where he can persuade her of the justness of his actions.
Most of this story consists of the conversations between Matthias and Grace where he persuades her that shooting a man in the back of the head without warning is OK, that it is a necessary part of the struggle against those evil people who torture Breed members. His explanations don't seem that convincing to Grace but fortunately the mating bond takes over and she seems to accept it. The story is mostly about their mating bond, with a short escape from danger at the end. There's a reasonable amount of characterisation for Matthias, a man without family who's always been on his own, but Grace was rather more of a cipher. It was a reasonable enough read but nothing special. Three stars.

I was really looking forward to this anthology, mainly because of the sookie stackhouse story. Perhaps this is why i found myself disappointed. While each story was interesting in its own way, the whole thing felt repetative and a bit dull. I would recommend finding it at your local library.
Loved it.

Many Bloody Returns is a collection of short stories by multiple writers. The stories are shorter than usual collections offering a buffet of the writing style and characters of each contributor. This gives the reader a choice of whether a particular appetizer is worth going for seconds or not. I would compare it to purchasing a trial size variety pack, where you can decide to purchase a full size item. Standing alone some of the well known authors contributions are short, 20 pages,if unfamiliar with a particular author's characters difficult stand alone.

A collection of short stories by 13 authors featuring vampires and birthdays. The collection is not for everyone, but provides well written stories for people who like this genre of fiction. I had bought the collection earlier, but saved it for my birthday, which just started at midnight.
Like most collections, you will find a variety, and will find some stories that you will like better than others. I particularly liked "It's my birthday, too," by Jim Butcher which had its lighter moments. White magic fights black vampires, with quite a bit of damage as things get in the way. However will you explain things to people? If you try to tell people the truth, they will lock you up in a funny farm.
"Grave Robbed," by P.N. Elrod, is about undead PI Jack Fleming dealing with a fake medium who is victimizing a widow. He has some special investigative skills, such as dematerializing to pass through walls. He does have to work at night.
Some stories are more on the dark side. In "The Wish," by Carolyn Haines, a woman tries to deal with Death, and then tries to thwart Death's plans. The stories are not for the faint at heart, but if you have an interest in tales of vampires, wizards, and goblins, by all means read on.

Usually books with a number of short stories in them have some big names with great stories and some unknown authors with either surprisingly good or surprisingly bad stories. This was not the case with this book. All of the stories were really good and there was a larger variety of writing styles than I expected given the genre. All of the stories have to deal with vampires and birthdays.
The main reason I read books like this is to get a sampling of some authors I haven't read and get a glimpse into the series that they are writing. This book was a good read and I found a couple new (to me at least) authors to check out from it. Because of this book I will read more of PN Elrod's work, check out the Morganville vampire series, see what else Hallaway and Kelner have written, and possibly check out some of Jeanne Stein's work too. Below is a quick comment/synopsis of each story.
Dracula Night by Charlaine Harris
This story is an addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series and addresses the celebration of Dracula Night by the vampire community. It's a fun read; although there's not a ton of content here.
The Mournful Cry of Owls by Christopher Golden
The only other book I've read by Christopher Golden is "The Boys are Back in Town"; which I liked pretty well. This story follows a girl as she learns about her unique heritage. I enjoyed it and it was well written and mysterious.
I Was a Teenage Vampire by Bill Crider
This was probably my least favorite story of the anthology. The story was predictable, boring, and seemed quickly and lazily written.
Twilight by Kelley Armstrong
I liked Twilight okay. It was a little boring and moved slowly but it was well-written and dealt with the topic of vampires dying of boredom.
It's My Birthday, Too by Jim Butcher
Fun addition to the Dresden Files series. I enjoyed a story in which Thomas played a main role. I especially enjoyed the role-playing; being a DnD player I thought it was hilarious.
Grave-Robbed by P.N. Elrod
This was my first time reading anything by PN Elrod and I liked it. The main character, Jack Fleming, is a bit campy. Some of it reminded me of Harry Dresden a bit. I enjoyed it and will read more of Elrod's writing.
The First Day of the Rest of Your Life by Rachel Caine
This was a story that took place in the world of Rachel Caine's young adult vampire series "The Morganville Vampires". This was my favorite story in the book and now I am interested in reading this series. I've read some of Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series and that is also a good series.
The Witch and the Wicked by Jeanne C. Stein
This story creeped me out. I believe Stein is the writer of the Signs of the Zodiac series. The writing style wasn't my favorite since it was kind of plain and straight-forward; not as much flare to it as I had hoped. The premise is pretty darn creative and creepy though.
Blood Wrapped by Tanya Huff
This was a nice addition to Henry Fitzroy's world; it was a fun read. It really brought home the fact that I haven't read the last few books in this series yet. I was like, what do you mean Vicki is a vampire?
The Wish by Carolyn Haines
I've never read anything by Carolyn Haines but I did like this story. The story is very sad and yet it is beautifully written and really grabs a hold of you. It is a very beautiful and well-written story, if not as fun as the rest of the book.
Fire and Ice and Linguini for Two by Tate Hallaway
I've never read anything by Tate Hallaway before; this was a fun story. I was intrigued by the witch having a demon trapped in her and by the elemental evil forces at work. I could really sympathize with the characters and the cold weather, being from MN myself.
Vampire Hours by Elaine Viets
I really enjoyed this story. I liked that the main character was an older woman dealing with day-to-day issues a lot of women deal with (okay maybe not as extreme as these issues). I liked how the woman cleverly got back at everyone; it was funny and a quick read.
How Stella got her Grave Back by Toni L.P. Kelner
I've never read anything by Toni Kelner, I really liked this story. I liked the idea of vampire dams and I liked the mystery solving that went on in this story. The characters were fun and likable. I really want to know the history between them now.

St Claire hits another solid one. While this may not be out of the park for me like some of her others, it was still a very well-written book. The premise certainly can't be said to be run-of-the-mill nor can the characters. The heroine is desperate for answers about her roommate's death. She knows it wasn't a suicide and she is willing to do anything to get the information. That includes offering her body if she has to.
The hero, one of St. Claire's always sexy, always alpha Bullet Catchers, is trying to infiltrate the organization who offers up "romantic" kidnappings and other edgy sexual fantasies. St. Claire delves into a very dark world with this book and does it well.
I recommend this one to anyone who likes their suspense taut, dark and edgy.

I'm a big fan of this series and this book is just another jewel in the Bullet Catchers crown. Ms. St. Claire has a real talent for writing HOT heroes and heroines you can sympathize with.
Now all I need to know is where to hire these Bullet Catchers...*wink*
Can't wait for the next one, First You Run - I'm going to pre-order now!

The Bullet Catchers Series:
Kill Me Twice
Thrill Me to Death
Take Me Tonight
I'm hooked on this series. The heroes are always totally edible. The stories are enthralling. Roxanne St. Claire writes terrific mystery plots that keep you interested with plenty of twists. Some scenes are so intense you'll be literally holding your breath, while your adrenaline pumps through your body. Her outcomes are never easily predicted. I also love the fact that her hero characters tend to be muscle on the outside, but tender- hearted on the inside. When these guys fall in love, they are not afraid to let their woman know it. While drawing a gun with their right hand, they are holding their lover's hand with the left. "Johnny", the hero in "Take Me Tonight", fits that roll gorgeously. (And I do mean "gorgeous"! If you see his photo on Roxanne St. Clare's web site, it is the exact photo that is described of him in the midst of this story. Holy cow! HOT!!!!! Is it legal to look that good?!)
Sage Valentine is an investigative reporter. She now is desperately investigating the murder of her best friend. She approaches her Aunt Lucy, founder of the Bullet Catchers, for help with the case. Lucy turns her down. Bullet Catchers are bodyguards, not detectives. However, Lucy knows that her niece is bound to keep hunting for answers. To keep Sage safe, Lucy sends her most loyal Bullet Catcher undercover. Johnny Christiano is given the task of hiding his position with the BC's so that he can watch out for Sage. Sage thinks he is just a beautiful man who wants to be her boyfriend. Johnny finds himself truly wanting that more and more. He fears Sage will never forgive him when she learns that he has lied about his identity.
Sage's deceased friend, Keisha, was a cheerleader for Boston's NBA team, The Blizzard. Strange things are happening to Keisha's teammates. Some are disappearing, then showing up with memory loss. Others are being found dead. Keisha's death was pronounced a suicide. Sage doesn't believe it. To get the answers she seeks, Sage will dig into the twisted world that Keisha and her teammates are struggling to survive. Johnny can do nothing to convince Sage to stay out of danger. His only choice is to follow her in and help her find the answers, while keeping himself between Sage and those who would see her dead before she learns too much.
My only disappointment with this book was Sage's character. I admire a heroine who is brave and strong. However I'm always turned off when "brave" crosses over to "completely without common sense". Johnny would try to scope out dangerous situations, gun in hand, moving room to room in silence, telling Sage to wait until he is sure it is safe. Instead of seeing the sense in that, Sage would totally ignore him and walk right into the room loudly and unarmed. Is she bullet proof, suicidal, or just stupid? It really bothers me when women are written to be so brainless.
Worse, was the fact that Sage was extremely hypocritical. Part of Johnny's cover was pretending to work for a company where men would sleep with the clients. Over and over she referred to him as a "male prostitute". She had no respect for him because of the job. However, she believed that it was completely acceptable that she used sex to try to convince Johnny to give her answers for her investigation. She brings him to the brink of "completion", then stops cold and says she'll finish for him if he answers her questions. In my book, a prostitute is a prostitute... whether the fee is paid with money, favors, or answers.
Sage's character brought this 5- star story down to a 4 for me.

After reading PIMPOLOGY, I would place it in the same category as Niccolo Machiavelli's THE PRINCE. Like he states in the book, he is NOT promoting the trafficking of flesh. However, he does give a lesson about human nature. When I read it, there were experiences he's had that I witnessed from my college coaches, former bosses and other characters in business. Just because his background deals with pimping at a street level, I'll go to what he states in the last chapter. He states that the oldest pimp game on Earth is the same as what builds nations: the control of money and people to achieve an objective or series of objectives.
It's really a book about power and how it's used as a means to an end. Besides, it may help the reader recognize when a "pimp" game is being run on them and devise a counterattack to the game.

I have seen pimpin ken on tv and ddecided to see what his book was all about. After recieving the book I started reading it and was hooked..I read and re-read the book and really grapsed all the information. Do not let the book title fool you, this is more a motivational and information based book on how to better yourself. Great book and I would highly recommend it.

Bottom line Pimpin Ken has pimped the game of life once again.
Any of these laws can be used as a road map to success in any career tract chosen.
It is apparent though he left out a large amount of the deep parts of the game of pimpin' but it is more information than any other book on this topic to date.

That should be the title. Very few new things to learn. The rest can be found in other motivational books. It seems that he tried to fill pages of pimp knowledge with unrelated subjects to make a book.

Two years after her divorce, Lauren Southall is ready to get back into the swing of things...kind of. She's not ready for love and commitment, but she might just be ready for some romance and excitement. Especially if it involves Noah Reeves. Not only is he smart, sweet and rich, he's six-foot-three and sexy as all get out! But he's also her ex-husband's friend, her boss and he is notorious for having a long line of short relationships.
When she receives a mysterious note promising naked skin and sexual fantasies, Lauren can't help but feel thrilled. Will she be able to live out her fantasies with Mr. Mysterious or will thoughts of Noah chase him away?
Having been in love with Lauren for over ten years, Noah knows it's now or never. He believes she's ready for a relationship but he'll have to convince her. Planning her seduction as he would a corporate takeover, Noah decides to romance her as himself during the day and creates a mysterious stranger to dominate her at night.
Naughty Little Secret by Shelley Bradley is utterly fantastic! I fell in love with the characters; from Lauren who is too afraid of being hurt to open herself up to any kind of happiness, to Noah and his relentless pursuit of the one woman he truly loves. One secondary character, Lauren's sister Kay, particularly shined. She is funny, outrageous and totally straightforward with Lauren which is just what she needs. The whole premise of a mysterious stranger and sex could have been creepy but Ms. Bradley manages to make it unbelievably arousing instead. With its fast pace, engaging plot and super sizzling sex, Naughty Little Secret is an indulgence you won't want to miss.

This was a really good story. I loved Noah and Lauren; the attraction between them sizzled and the sex scenes were pretty hot. I liked how Noah thought outside the box to get Lauren to realize her feelings for him, though I understood Lauren's reaction when she found out her Mr. Mysterious was the man she's been pining over for years. At times, it was annoying how distrustful Lauren was due to her divorce, but I found it didn't detract too much from the overall story. I couldn't wait for them to get their happily ever after and this book now has a place on my permanent keeper shelf.
Entertaining if nothing else

I'd recently bought Naughty Little Secret because the reviews were decent and who hasn't had a fantasy about a person they can't have and used someone else to fulfill it? The idea of her wanting Noah yet playing with the stranger had a fun appeal. However, I found that immediately this book is beyond unrealistic when, in her opinion, someone not only breaks into her house after being somewhat stalkerish but then has sex with her, and she's not at all as disturbed as any normal person would be. I think there were a thousand other ways to introduce a stranger into the picture that any other person would have been able to stretch their imagination for, instead I found that I instantly didn't understand Lauren and therefor couldn't truly feel all her passion. I couldn't get over how terrified and angry I'd be if some stalkerish guy broke into my house and tied me up. There would be no sexual tension. I can't empathize with that. It was probably because of this fact that I found the sex scenes lacking. Yes, the were steamy and I think that, were I in a different frame of mind, they might have been arousing, but instead they were just weird. Overall, I found the book entertaining if I didn't think about it too hard and once I was into the book and accepted the situation I thought it got better. I found the book to be too short for what it was trying to sell and too out there in the thought process of the 'heroine'. I wouldn't have bought it, but getting it from the library wouldn't be bad.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for Meredith to get pregnant already and for there to be some forward movement of plot in these books. Also, I was getting tired of the strung together scenes of sex...new magic...more sex...some more new magic.
This book really toned down on the sex, thank goodness. And, to be fair, the plot did inch forward infinitesimally. But this book was quite boring. It was a bunch of mirror conversations. First Merry talks to Taranis is the mirror for eleventy-billion pages. Then she talks to Andais for eleventy-more-billion pages. The she talks to the goblins. And then we hear about some more new creatures her sex has brought to life.
In the course of these conversations we get more of Stark Raving Crazy Andais, something of Skeevy Perv Crazy Taranis and of course there is Just Psycho Crazy Cel lurking off in the background. Talk about tedious characters. If Merry is so dang powerful why doesn't she off some of these people already? I do agree with Andais, Merry has turned into a wimp.
I remember the first book when she got her hand of power and used it. Actually, I remember the first book and so much happened just in that one book. Le Sigh.

This book just ended horribly. It is not enough that the Anita Blake books are in the toilet but come on.... This ending was a cop-out on picking A king. Its awfully convient how LH makes up new "legends" to make the most pathetic ending "plauasble"

This is not bad erotica or bad porn. While LKH is getting heat from her fans for her Anita Blake series, I find that there is no complaint for her Meredith Gentry books. I found this series to be a much better story and so far each book has proven satisfactory. However, unlike some series, and like her Anita Blake stories, read them in order. They don't stand alone because each book usually picks up where the previous one has ended. Besides, I still feel the first book was the best.

Unlike EA Solinas, I enjoy Ms. Hamilton's books, her writing and the way that the books and the plot lines evolve.
Each book generates more character insight as well as a furtherance of the challenges and successes of the heroine and her heroes - which increase on a daily/monthly basis :)
It would seem that most of the readers who were fans of the old Anita books liked the blood, gore and anger - and as a result share their anger through the reviews.
I love the Merry Gentry books because they deal with paranormal stuff that is beyond the pale. How do writers come up with this stuff?
Also, I feel that readers who choose to follow someone else's review of material without judging for themselves means that either a.) they like to follow others own thoughts; or b.) don't have the ability to think for themselves.
Have I ever read a LKH book that I didn't like? Sure - but it's my own opinion. Have I read other books from authors that I adore and collect that I didn't like? Absolutely. But again, it is my own opinion.
I enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed the other books. Reading for me is a way to escape into the lives of someone else - it helps me to get away from my problems and enjoy the problems, challenges, trivialities of other fictional character's for just a little while - rather than have to deal with the unhappiness, trials, tribulations and crisis in my life as well as those who have to deal with my life.
Am I an unhappy person? No. But reading for me is an escape. A review should be done with some personal aspect, but not be an attack on the author. Which I believe is happening right now. If you don't like the way things are going, then don't read the books - but please stop posting the negativity.
And stating that is my own opinion - I enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed all of them. The conflict within Merry's life is hazardous, there is a constant threat of death within her life from her cousin, as well as from her Aunt and Uncle. She has to be careful what she says through the mirror, and she can not be herself with very many of the guards that have been chosen to help her succeed in her goal of reproduction.
Merry's plight is fraught with disappointment because she knows who would be the better leader. She also has to face the fact that she may not be able to have a baby and the stress on her to get pregnant is what so many of us face today. Granted, we don't have all the hotties to sleep with like Merry does, but hopefully our chosen partner is hot to us - right?
Each Merry Gentry novel brings new possibilities - and each novel brings a new opportunity for us to escape for a little while into her life.
I gave this novel 4 stars - why not 5? I want more...more, more, more -
This is my review and my own opinion - You may use this review for just that - but personally, I hope that you read the book and make your own choices.

My suggestion is that you read it together, or have one person start reading it and writing comments into the book as you recognize yourselves in it. Then when the other partner starts to read it they too should write comments into the book as well. Later you should both go through it together to read the added comments and use those as talking points.
I also feel that if your marriage is in really bad shape that you read this book first because you HAVE to stop the "love bank withdrawals"... they are causing your marriage to go bankrupt. Once you have a handle on your withdrawals then your deposits (His Needs Her Needs) will finally be able to accumulate to the point of causing positive change. You can make as many deposits as you like, but everyone knows from life even that if you don't control your withdrawals that you can easily overdraft your account.
If you are struggling in your marriage, READ THIS BOOK!
