Absolutely hated this book. The first book in this series was okay, but this one didn't make any sense, was dull and the romance completely flat. I kept waiting for the killers to put me out of my misery. I loved the first series (The Hunt, The Prey, The Kill) she wrote, but they have slowly gone downhill.

Allison Brennan is a winner.

I discovered Allison Brennan by accident about a year ago, and I'm so happy that I did. Love her trilogies and Tempting Evil, the 2nd in the prison break series, is wonderful. Looking forward to the 3rd installment coming in September. For a good read, try her books, but read them in order for the full effect.

Good Read!

This book, like the previous ones she has written, was great! It's filled with suspense all the way until the end. I was not able to put it down until I was finished reading it. She hasn't let me down, as of yet, with any of the books she has written. She's one of my favorite writers :)

It actually didn't take that long to read this one. I had started it on Friday, but because I picked up my copy of Acheron, that one was more important. However, when I finally picked this one back up on Monday, it was damn near unputdownable!

Brennan has a way of writing in descriptions: whether scenery or character development, you get a complete picture of it all.

Joanna still hasn't gotten over the death of her husband and nine-year-old son four years earlier. While she shows a brave front for her grandfather, sister and niece, she aches daily at the loss. Now she's staying with her family at their lodge, working everyday and writing. A successful author, she loves writing the stories that touch and warm so many lives.

Tyler wants Joanna with all his being. He's fallen in love, but is heartbroken when his marriage proposal doesn't receive the answer he had wanted. Still, he pines for her, waiting for her. He's raising his son, Jason, alone after his ex-wife dies of cancer, and moved them to Centennial Valley to be closer to his brother, hoping to reclame the friendship they had in their youth.

Tyler receives an anonymous call... two escaped convicts are headed his way - one infatuated with a woman he cut out of a magazine article. The description fits Jo, and with his son stuck in the wilderness with his brother and their Boy Scout troup, tension and suspense are pushed to the forefront.

And rightly so - for one convict, Aaron Doherty, believes he's in love with Joanna and that she returns his affection. His mental process becomes the header of the novel, and his delusions grow frighteningly. The way Aaron's mind works (the way Brennan wrote it) is enough to give the reader chills and hope that it never happens to them. In some ways, Doherty is even scarier than the second convict, Chapman, a sadistic killer, who was following Doherty.

Action scenes are great - you see them play out in your mind while reading them. The scenery paint a perfect picture, leaving the reader chilled while reading about a storm howling outside the lodge/cabin. While the love scenes are nice, I felt that there could have been a bigger connection between Tyler and Jo than there was. But what pins the reader is Aaron and his delusions - I don't think I've read a character quite that delusional before.

And after reading the excerpt for Playing Dead, the final book in the trilogy, I sooooo can't wait to get my hands on it. September 30th can't come fast enough!

I am not going to do a rendition, I see this has already been done.
Kudos again to Sarah. One of the very few writers that has received multiple 5 star ratings from me on her books.
This story line was great with a hot alpha male cowboy, a spunky female lead, full of passion, love, and HOT HOT HOT sex. This book is a keeper and I recommend everyone get this book. Once you read this you will want to read some more of her books.

Keep them coming Sarah

This was my first book by Sarah McCarty and it was very enjoyable and sweet. My only problem with it was that everthing is so drawn out. The conversations are inane and go on forever and the plot is slow and tedious. The upside for most of you buying this type of book is that the love scenes are similarly drawn out and go on forever. All in all, I like the characters and thought their interactions were very sweet, which was a refreshing change.

I picked up this book based on rave reviews and countless recommendations. I can't say I was disappointed, but I will say Promises Linger isn't "the best book out there", as I was told so many times. Asa and Elizabeth are great, complex characters, but they might have been a little too complex for my taste. I was a little upset that we didn't have more background on either character, especially Asa. He is supposedly a feared gunslinger, but we don't learn about any of his gun-for-hire work. He is so peaceful and in charge, and he falls so easily into the ranching role that the gunslinger background feels very unsupported.

Also, I felt that the crude sex scenes and foul language really took away from the sweet love story. Granted, it is "erotic romance", but the erotica conflicted with the romance so badly that it felt like I was reading bits and pieces of two different novels--a sweet old-fashioned love story and a cheap porno. Even now as I type my review, I can't shake the feeling that I really did read two separate books. It was just too choppy and artificial for me to feel that the two aspects merged together effectively. I can't really explain exactly how this book differs from other (better) erotica, but in Promises Linger the rough language and crude sexual terms cheapen the story and detract from the tenderness between Asa and Elizabeth. It just doesn't feel natural. I understand the crudeness from Asa's point of view, but it's very odd coming from Elizabeth, who's supposedly such an innocent and gentle lady.

All in all--despite my pickiness--it is a great story. Just read it for entertainment and I'm sure you'll love it.

I ordered this book with the intention of making a weekly ritual with my boyfriend where we could sit down, fill out the book together, and reflect on some good memories. I read through the preview provided, and thought that it seemed perfect for us and would incite a lot of laughter. But when I got the book and glanced through it... there really are some sections I could do without. Going through past relationships in great detail is not something that I want to bring up again with my boyfriend, and this book definitely asks you to delve into these previous times. If you don't feel comfortable letting everything loose and don't care to hear about your partner's sex life pre-you, don't buy this book.

I do enjoy a good Nora Roberts books now and then. I know what to expect, some romance, some mystery, likable characters and descriptive scenic details. This one did not deviate too much. There is a big BUT coming, though. These characters were not as likable. Tucker was disappointing in his over sexed, under achieving mannerisms. Caroline is dull. I also had to check the publishing date a few times to actually be sure it was not written in the 1960's. It seemed like it was written decades ago with everyone smoking, drinking Jack Daniels, and the whole Black/White race thing being an issue. Her characters were very Dukes of Hazzards-like. They got way too familiar with each other too fast that it became humorous. I guess that is why it has the word "Carnal" in the title!

The good part is that there were so many unlikable characters that I would not have been disappointed if anyone had been the killer or the victim. Ms. Roberts has come a long way and her writing has greatly improved over the years. I would recommend this to a die hard Roberts fan because we will be more understanding and forgiving. If you are new to her, skip this one and try one of her more recent ones such as Montana Sky, Blue Smoke, or Angels Fall. Her Chesapeake Trilogy is excellent also.

This is one of Nora Roberts best. An older story but a wonderful one. It is fast paced and contains some extremely funny scenes woven into a plot within a plot, within a plot! Ms. Roberts carefully disguises her villans and the heros are foggy at best in the beginning. But when the plots thickens and the fog clears the story unfolds into a dramatic, romantic and sometimes funny original saga of the Longstreets. If you are a Nora Roberts fan, I know you will be thrilled with Carnal Innocence.

Caroline Waverly is a world-renowned violinist in desperate need of some overdue relaxation. She decides that Innocence, Mississippi is the perfect place to find some peace in the only place she has truly ever felt roots. As she makes her grandmother's old home her own, her serenity is shaken when she finds the body of young woman in the lake, and in to the path of a serial killer.

Tucker Longstreet is a true southern gentleman and appears as easy going as a man can get. He enjoys fast cars and faster women, but Caroline is a challenge for him. Tucker is immediately taken with her, and appoints himself her protector. It is then we learn that the good ole boy surface hides a very smart and sharp-witted man.

As the town lives in the grips of fear, Tucker and Caro must identify the killer to have any chance of a future.

This was very well written with wonderful characters. The secondary characters are especially good - LuLu was a scream! This one kept me guessing till the very end!!

The first tale "Treat Her Right" introduces one of three friends who is a paramedic and a widower. He has an exceptionally mature four year old who is WAAAYYY smarter than she should be - the story explores love for the previously wed. It is quite heartwarming.
"Mr. November" features a studly fireman who is used to having women fall at his feet - suddenly, the girl doesn't and he becomes interested. It was an interesting tale with twists and turns.
Lori Foster once again delivers with humor and pathos - and offers entertaining reading on the beach or on a quiet afternoon.

I especially love her books that are linked to one another. It feels like the story is extended and you get more insight into their thoughts and joys and sorrows.

This book tells the story of Walker and Ellisa. Both characters are strong and determined. Although Ellisa has been taking care of herself and her daughter for quite some time (and doing a great job), Walker shines as her charming Prince. Of course, readers still get to read about what is going on with Cal & Penny (from Delicious), Reid, Dani and of course, Gloria. You also get to meet people from Ellisa's life as well. Definitely a fun, fast read!

Don't get me wrong, I like this book, but there seemed to be a lack of ooomph! between these two characters. The story is good and interesting but when I read the 1-2 quick love scenes I didn't get the tingles like I should. I didn't really feel like the hero was that passionate about the heroine. I like to get the feeling that they are desperately in love, but I just didn't get that from this couple. So that is my complaint, but like I said the story is good and it's a quick read. I give it 4 stars because it was well written and entertained me for a few hours.

"Iresistible" is the second book in the "The Buchanan" series by Susan Mallery and as before I just couldn't get into this book. I to confess the only reason that I reading the last three is that I bought the whole series at once (big mistake) I just want don't to waste my money.

This book, the second in the series, focuses on one of the Buchanan brothers, Walker. Like the first book, this is just a fun read. It's not too deep, not too sappy and has enough going on in the background to keep things interesting. I don't particularly like the cover of the book, but then, we all know the saying about judging books by their cover. A fast read for the airplane, beach or rainy day.

This book is absolutely outstanding in its genre. I didn't expect it at all. If you think once you have read vampire romance you know them all - this will be a nice refreshing twist for you. The story is very well developed, the characters are believable and the dialogue a hoot, yet the romance is very real. And let me tell you - vamire sex the way it is in this book - yummy. The heroine is very believable, strong, not a whiner and even though the hero is the dark, sexy, powerful vampire - he is different than the usual hero.
Anyway, if you like the Sookie Stackhouse novels, you will like this one even more. It is not as dark as the Dark Hunters or Carpathians.
I enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend it.

My first Kerrelyn Sparks book. Light, humorous quick reading. The style and tone are simple and matter-of-fact.

A vampire, Roman Draganesti, loses one of his fangs by biting into a doll with synthetic blood and needs to find a dentist soon or he'll be a one fanged vamp for all eternity. He is already the millionaire creator of synthetic blood that saves humans and gives vampires a morally correct food source. The doll is a recent invention to give the vampires the feel of the bite while getting synthetic blood but the plastic she's made of is just a little bit TOO tough. The dentist he meets, Shanna, is unlike any mortal he's ever met and she needs his protection because she witnessed an earlier murder and the baddies are out to get her.

Just okay--with so many good vamp series out there, I doubt i'll follow this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the following books in the series. Kerrelyn Sparks is a fantastic writer, she truly draws you into the world of these Vamps. I was thoroughly impressed with the characters, and although the series doesn't centre on one particular pair, each book is dedicated to one main Vamp who finds his true Love, it is a fantastic journey that i was more than happy to undertake, and i am thoroughly looking forward to any further books in the series.

Wow! Just yesterday I posted a review of "High Stakes" a tale of a human girl who meets and falls in love with a rich vampire. Although the story claimed to be laugh out loud funny, it wasn't. Imagine my delight when I dove straight into "How to Marry A Millionaire Vampire" to find out it had a similar plot with a much better drawn plot and characters. I thought for sure that this was going to be another vampire chick lit story but it was so much more! Shanna is a dentist in the Witness Protection Program after testifying in court against Russian mob members who have killed her friend. They are still after her and during an attack on her dental clinic, Roman shows up and rescues her. Roman is a weathly scientist vampire. He has formulated and produced a synthetic blood that has saved millions of human lives. During a recent product 'testing' he lost one of his fangs. If he doesn't want to be permanently lopsided, he must convice his dentist on the lam to fix his tooth. This story has so much adventure that it is hard for me to classify it simply as a Paranormal Romance. The romance, while definitely there, supplements rather than overwhelms this story. There are several sex scenes and actually that was a scene or two more than I need in my books, but I really feel like I witnessed the love grown between the two characters. (Another point seriously lacking in the previous book I mentioned). One thing that seems to make or break a book for me is the cast of supporting characters. I adored most of these characters. Roman's cast of security guards, the Highlanders are an absolute delight. They brought humor to the story as well as a special sensitivity. Roman's harem was another fun side bar to the story, and brought out a lot of Shanna's insecurities. This book is certainly not laughable chick lit, but I admit to one scene in particular that did have me actually laugh out loud! Only because a five for me is AMAZING do I give this book a super well deserved four. This little gem is better than similar series such as the before mentioned "Vegas Vampires" and Lyndsay Sand's Argeneau vampire romances. I can't believe I almost missed this one, I had it on my wish list for ages before I stumbled upon a copy and picked it up. I encourage you not to wait as long as I did. This is a seriously fun winner.

This book was my introduction to the MacGregor Family. I instantly fell in love with every single one of them; so much so that I am now going back to the beginning and reading "Rebellion" to fully understand the how and why of the MacGregor clan. In "Brides," Nora Roberts takes us through the romantic journey and subsequent pairings of the three MacGregor granddaughters - Laura (the attorney) and the man grandpa hired to keep the home the cousins shared security-tight, Royce Cameron, Gwendolyn (the doctor), matched by grandpa with writer, Branson McGuire, and Julia (the real estate mogul), fighting all the way to the altar with builder/contractor, Cullum Murdoch, and, on this one, a two-fisted match made unknowingly not only by Daniel, but Cullum's own father, Michael, as well. Daniel MacGregor, Sr., begins each story with his memoirs as to the manner in which he had a working hand in each matching. The chosen three men were strong and handsome with exemplary values and great genes (according to the MacGregor)! Even though each story was quite similar where boy pursues girl, girl puts up a fight and finally gives in, hook, line and sinker, the stories are told in a captivating and interesting manner so that even the most unsympathetic romance reader has no choice but to delve into the lives of this fabulous family. I have read earlier romance books by Nora and felt they were just your typical soap-opera, happy ending stories, however, I believe the MacGregors themselves give the romance stories the strength and attention that encourages the reader to want to be a part of the family, albeit the amorous and idealistic worlds that only fiction can unfurl. I thoroughly enjoyed the stories and look forward to future MacGregor adventures.

This book is an introduction to BDSM. It is written for the curious and those already in the lifestyle. It is written with wit and sensitivity and contains photographs and illustrations. The photographs need updating as they are reminiscent of Victorian still pics found in some porn.
I would recommend it though as a beginner's information source on BDSM.

This book is an excellent foundation for your new (or renewed) adventures in BDSM. Clear, well written and truthful about the risks, this book provides safety tips, insightful psychology and hands-on ideas for BDSM play. Thank you authors! This is a must-have for any start-out players, I'm going to give it as a gift to newbies and any new subs.

Everything was great with this transaction. I only got to read a little of it before Sir whisked it away with him. He is working out of state so I won't get to finish until I am able to reunite with Him.

I have read many books related to the Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism (BDSM) lifestyle and over the years Screw The Roses... is still the first book I recommend for all newbies to read. The authors are factual, concise, humorous, and thorough in their introduction to the various aspects of BDSM. Additionally, the contents offer just the right mix of information to picque the reader's interest into taking a deeper journey into reflection and self-analysis and continuing the exploration of BDSM.

This book seems to cover it all. Would help a newby like myself. Or a veteran in bdsm lifestyle. It explains most lifestyles, bondage, toys. Explains emotions love how you can live the life with it. And all in a funny way so not boring or put you to sleep. A must have for all new people into bdsm lifestyle. The authors are male (Dom) female (slave) so written with that in mind. For the ease of having to write everything W/we S/she. so on. Dont think would offend anyone. For me awesome read.
