I am not going to go into detail, I see this has been done already. I enjoyed this compilation immensely. I wish the stories were longer. I thought this series came together well. All the stories were hot, full of passion with a dash of love. This is a definate keeper. I recommend this book.
This was my first glipse of Lora Leigh's writing and I have been hooked ever since.

I love the Lora Leigh Wolf series. Often when I purchase a book from this series I will reread it at least three times!
Lora Leigh's Wolf book in this series was a waste of my money because it was too short to have any depth in the story line. I threw my money as well as the book.

A Worthy Continuation of 'Magician'

As I wrote in my review of 'Magician,' the first book in this Riftwar trilogy, I first read this series when I was a teen. Having gotten the urge to revisit it now twenty years later, I am enjoying it even more. Plot, character development, and world-creation are all excellent. I sped through this book in a few hours, and couldn't wait to start 'A Darkness at Sethanon,' the final book. If you are a fan of Tolkein-style story telling, and/or medeival-style fantasy in general that incorporates sword-and-sorcery themes, you will LOVE this book, and this series.

"magician: apprentice" and "magician: master" were great. epic plot, large battles, loveable chercters. In short, all you need in good fantasy (the large battles are a bounus, of course, and a very well done one in those two).
Nevertheless Silverthorn is bad. really bad.
Fiest's first mistake was adding the ultimate evil to the plot. don't wait for a grand war, or for any battle larger then a skirmish. don't hope to have a good plot, for the story is idiotic, ilogical and predictable. Also, there are elemnts that clearly appeard on the previos books.
Don't read. Don't even consider reading.

This was a fine read. I enjoyed it. After it was over and I started on the next book in the series I realized that not that much happened in the big scheme of things. Its setting up bigger things to come but really the story focuses on a Arutha and Jimmy side quest that I don't think will be important in later books (thats an assumption, I haven't read the other books). Well, if you are anything like me, and liked the first two books you'll buy this one too, enjoy it, go on to the next book and never re-read this one again.

Find the good stuff and rescue the girl.
This is literally your classic rescue the princess story. Other than the threat of inter-dimensional war and your usual noble family political infighting all isn't going too badly for Prince Arutha, until his fiance is poisoned by your very nasty sort of thing.
This leads him and his crew (some more motley than others) on a long quest to find the one thing that can save her, with plenty of adventure and fighting to be had along the way.

In many respects, Magician (now sold as two books) was a saga unto itself - the time span, events, war, political intrigue, and heck even the physical length of the book. Coming out with a next installment worthy of the first, must truly have been daunting for Feist.
However, with Silverthorn I think he did well. He built upon some fine, solid characters, while introducing a few more. The pace is a little more frenetic, owing to the shorter time period which the book covers. Feist, as usual, laces his work with enough to intrigue us to keep us turning the pages (and wishing to skip pages too, so we can find out what happened next).
The novel centers around Arutha, Prince of Krondor, whose wife, in a failed attempt upon his life, falls to a poisoned crossbow bolt. The cure for the toxin is from a rare flower found only in the north, in the heart of moredhel country - these are the elves of the Dark Path who hate all others with a passion. The mastermind behind the attack is a mysterious and terrifying moredhel named Murmandamus. When Pug, the sole Greater Path magician of Midkemia, learns of this creature and the powerful force, the seat of true power, behind Murmandamus, he sets out for Kelewan to seek answers. This is a bold move, considering the trouble he caused in the Tsurani empire before he fled back to his homeworld of Midkemia.
So the story unfolds on two tangents - one following Arutha in his quest to find the Silverthorn flower (and in doing so, gauging to some degree the army being assembled in the north) and Pug to uncover the truth of this new and powerful foe out to destroy his world.
Against all of this arises the possibility of the existence of the eldar, and the question of whether the powerful sorcerer Macros the Black is truly dead...
I highly recommend this book, but would urge you to read the Magician novels first to understand the events in this one a little better.

I'll admit it. I REALLY didn't want Alex for Aidan. She annoyed me.
What I did like was the human family that Aidan had created for himself before he met Alex and Joshua. It made the dynamic of Aidan dealing with Alex and all her human complexities and Joshua's trust and need to feel safe, more real and less 'domineering Carpathian male' being put out.
Translation:MORE FUN!
Aidan is Golden!

Both the main character and the plot were pretty disappointing. Particularly the author's clear lack of understanding of any of the things it takes for a person to support herself as an artist (let alone her little brother, who appears to be merely a plot device, instead of a character). Now she's going to be a game designer? She got this interview how? But I digress.
The love story was forced, the girl was much too perfect, and for crying out loud, if she's going to be an artist, you could have the decency to give her a day job and some paint under her fingernails like the real thing. Also, what is with the totally generic mansion? They need a ballroom why? Is pretentious consumerism somehow wired into the Carpathian mindset?

I bought this without realizing it was a "vampire genre" novel -- something that I long avoided. But I now have over 15 of her books, including the "Drake Sisters" and "Games" series. Her characters are so likeable. If you're a newcomer to Feehan, I hope you'll enjoy her stories too.

I basically felt this book was force. I was forced to believe that these two would fall in love, but with the whole Carpathian lifemate thing working and the ability to mind read, you don't ever get the chance to listen to the characters share their fillings, their past or their fears. Since they automatically know each other. I felt I didn't know anything about either character and this made it even harder for me to enjoy the book. Anything about them was a blip compared the physical attraction they had for each other and then to top it off the sex scenes were often quick and annoying fix its to the story with Aiden Savage asking for more afterwards.

One of the best light readings since Shell Seekers. A story of three generations of women that can be identified by women of many age levels. It gives the reader an in-depth look into each of the character's lives and personalities. Personal events make up their histories and this is told well by the author. A book the reader doesn't want to put down.

I was drawn to this book by its lovely cover; a pretty quilt draped over a cozy porch swing. When I read the back flap and saw it was a story about relationships I knew it was going to be my kind of book. What I didn't know was how stirring the novel would be, and how very deeply it would touch me. The plot is as intricate and well crafted and the characters as colorful as the wedding ring quilt around which the story centers. Ms. Richards has truly created a work of art, and one that I enjoyed from beginning to end. Wedding Ring is a must read for any woman who has ever questioned her life decisions. It is a tribute to any woman who has journeyed through sorrow and found within herself the courage to make it to the other side.

This was my first Emilie Richards book. I thought it was going to start out as just a book about the problems a young couple were having, but it quickly turned out to be so much more than that. I loved the twists and turns and flashbacks to the the previous generation. Richards has a wonderful way of weaving human emotions, families, and mystery all together. I could hardly put the book down.

Nora Roberts (as J.D. Robb and otherwise) is typically a good writer with an excellent rhythm and a distinctive writing style. I've read a lot of her work and can't believe she wrote this book. The language is bland, the descriptions off, the characters constantly described rather than shown. Everything falls flat. I couldn't get past the first few lines and am extremely annoyed at having wasted my money on this terrible piece of work. If you've read any of her other "In Death" books, you won't be able to believe this was written by the same author. I can't, and won't be buying any more books with Roberts' name on them. I like to know that the book I'm reading is actually written by the person whose name is on the cover.

Christine Warren is one of those authors who consistently produce top quality books. And Walk on the Wild Side book five of The Others series is no exception. This book is more of a stand alone read, it still takes place in the world of the others, but with completely different characters. This doesn't detract from the story at all, but is important to know for some people who may be expecting something different...
This book is filled with some of the most interesting characters that I've read about in a long time. The villains are truly evil & hateful and you'll quickly find yourself wishing for them to get their just deserts...
After being involved in a near fatal accident Kitty Sugarman finds out that for the last 24 years everything that she knew about herself is in fact a lie. And instead of being a nice ordinary small-town girl she is in fact a were-lion. Kitty does have a few TSTL (to stupid to live tendencies) some of which may be due to her youth and inexperience. But in spite of that she makes a good likable and engaging female lead...
The male lead, Marcus Stewart is truly the ultimate alpha male. His character is extremely likable, Strong and sexy but at the same time never over-bearing...

Christine Warren started writing about the "Others" for Ellora's Cave as a download online book. They became popular and now she is found everywhere and it couldn't happen to a better author. Her creation of a hidden group of creatures such as demons, vampires, werewolf's, fairies, witches, etc is both romantic as well as steamy hot.
For centuries the "Others" have kept their existence a secret but recently have through secret talks with the government made themselves known to the public.
In this story "Kitty" and I kid you not that is her name finds out she is a lion shapeshifter other due to the DNA her long gone father left behind. Her father contacts her about the same time she finds out about her furry side and makes arrangements to go meet him in Las Vegas to tell him off and to find out more about being a shapeshifter. Such as how do you shift back? Keep from hurting your loved ones? etc.
Her Father turns out to be the dying Alpha head of the Las Vegas Red Rock Pack. His heir is a hot lion shapeshifter who takes Kitty under his wing as well as under his body. They are destined to be mates but someone is trying to kill her and he has to find out who.
A steamy good read. I look forward to her next installment in the series.

I found this book really fun and sexy. It was much more "animal" and the plot was deifferent from the previous "Other" books, which was nice.

Ms. Mallery does good work.
I liked this story a lot. Just as much as the first one of the series in fact, and that's rare for me.
Good story, great family, likeable characters, quirky humor, light romance. What's not to like?

Don't get me wrong, I like this book, but there seemed to be a lack of ooomph! between these two characters. The story is good and interesting but when I read the 1-2 quick love scenes I didn't get the tingles like I should. I didn't really feel like the hero was that passionate about the heroine. I like to get the feeling that they are desperately in love, but I just didn't get that from this couple. So that is my complaint, but like I said the story is good and it's a quick read. I give it 4 stars because it was well written and entertained me for a few hours.

Walker Buchanan is finally home from the Marines and ready to start a new life, after his finds a girlfriend of a dead buddy. Elissa Tower is a single mom struggling to make it. Elissa and Walker meet over flat tire and something seems to click. But there are outside forced keep them apart.
"Iresistible" is the second book in the "The Buchanan" series by Susan Mallery and as before I just couldn't get into this book. I to confess the only reason that I reading the last three is that I bought the whole series at once (big mistake) I just want don't to waste my money.

This book, the second in the series, focuses on one of the Buchanan brothers, Walker. Like the first book, this is just a fun read. It's not too deep, not too sappy and has enough going on in the background to keep things interesting. I don't particularly like the cover of the book, but then, we all know the saying about judging books by their cover. A fast read for the airplane, beach or rainy day.

It's always a bad sign when your mind drifts to 1) taking out the garbage, 2) calling the dentist to make an appointment, 3) cleaning the refrigerator...when reading a novel. I had such a difficult time finishing this book, however, with a lot of eye rolling and exasperated sighs. I won't summarize the book, as the other previous reviewers did a wonderful job in their reviews. I will say that Lily was horribly written. Instead of coming off as a sympathetic heroine, she was portrayed as a self-centered, whiny, in-need-of-major-psychotherapy woman. Sure, she does want to help the ladies of the night, but really, what did she do? Teach them how to speak with the King's English? Heath, on the other hand, was supposed to be this awesome hero. Instead, he was depicted as a cardboard superhero, very one dimensional. There was no fleshing out of his character - what were his dreams, what were his demons, what were his aspirations, what drove him as a man? Nothing but this overwhelming desire to pursue Lily and get her to marry him. The reader is left with the question, "What is the world does he see in her?" However, the question most likely is, "Why in the world did I wasted my time reading this book?"

I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars but I cant. I like this book so much better than the other two because I could relate so much with her. I understand her fear for personal reasons and how she struggles with them. I like how she independent and noble and willing to stand up for her friends. I like that at first she doesnt give in to Heath what he's used to. What I like about Heath is that he's tender and giving with her. What I like most is that he doesnt dismiss the notion of falling love like his friends. I would have given it 4 stars but what i didnt like about the book was the part that she want to be his mistress even after he said he loved her and wanted her for his wife.

This book was not as good the first two. This chick just didn't see a good thing when it was standing in front of her. She had to judge him by the few bad men she had known. I had to make myself keep reading this book. I don't think I could recommend this book.

I am really disappointed with this series by nicole jordan. I almost would believe it if someone told me she didn't even write this. Each of the three books were very predictable and I never felt like I cared about the characters. I was very disappointed. Spend your time with another author or pick up an old Nicole Jordan book.

Lily Loring is the youngest of the three Loring sisters, a trio whose family was on the brink of ruin before the girls saved themselves by opening a school to teach young women etiquette. Lily is the most decidedly tomboyish of the three sisters. She prefers riding horses and dreaming of world travel to tea parties and balls. She is also the sister who is the most against marriage. Lily remembers her parents' union as an unhappy one, and has vowed that she will not be shackled to any man. So when she is pursued by the best friend of her former guardian, Lily determinedly puts him off--even going so far as to take up residence with her good friend Fanny Irwin, a notorious Cyprian.
Heath Griffin, Marquess of Claybourne, is known as a rake and a seducer among the ladies of the ton. Heath's reputation as a lover of women precedes him, and he never thought that he would voluntarily sit down before he met Lily. He finds himself captivated by her independent nature, sharp tongue, and quick wit. Heath quickly decides he'd like to court Lily, only to learn that she's gone into hiding to avoid his attention. When he finds her, Heath decides to court the lady--willing or no--and make her his bride.
To Seduce a Bride is the third book in Nicole Jordan's Courtship Wars series, following To Pleasure a Lady (Courtship Wars, Book 1) and To Bed a Beauty (Courtship Wars, Book 2). It is also by far the worst book in the series. Lily is an exasperating heroine, and while I wouldn't go as far as labeling her too stupid to live, she was most definitely too exasperating to enjoy. From the very beginning she was against marriage. I can understand that. In the Regency era, marriage was the equivalent to signing your life away for a woman, and I can understand her wanting the choice to be her own. But after Heath proved himself countless times, risked his neck for her, helped her friends, and did anything she asked of him, and she still refused to believe that he could be in love with her I almost wished that she were real so that I could slap some sense into her. From the beginning of this series Lily has been set up as the most independent Loring sister, the one who lamented the loss of her sisters and vowed never to marry herself. So I can respect the fact that she remained consistent. But I can't respect the fact that she wanted to have her cake and eat it too while leaving this gallant, chivalrous suitor with what amounted to a few crumbs of her leftovers. I didn't like her and because of that it was like pulling teeth to make myself finish this book.
The Courtship Wars series was, until this point, okay. The other two books were good, not great, but they were satisfying enough as a whole. This book put me in a bad mood with its infuriating heroine and I think I might have to read some old school Julie Garwood or Johanna Lindsey to pull myself out of the funk that I'm in. Take my advice and steer clear of this last book in the series, which does more to hurt the trilogy than to help it.

Judging by the reviews here, I'm definitely in the tiny minority of readers who didn't like this book. I didn't just dislike it; I thought it was a dreadful mess. Deplorable writing, completely implausible characters, embarrassing dialog. I sometimes wish books were labeled on the back cover somewhere, so you had a general idea of what you were buying before you buy it. This book may fall into the erotic-suspense category, but I would consider it porn extremely loosely disguised as suspense. It reminds me of a horny college student's first attempt at writing erotica, and failing miserably. It started out somewhat promising. While the introduction to Becca's character struck a wrong nerve with me (she comes off as somewhat of a ditz), Nick's introduction was interesting. But it fell apart after about 10 pages. Or namely, when I came to the ridiculous scene where Nick catches Becca skinny dipping. I guess I can only dispense with disbelief just so far, because I found it completely unbelievable, and somewhat revolting, that after being manhandled out of the pool naked, handcuffed and roughed up a bit, Becca finds herself having lustful thoughts for Nick. Excuse me? A woman frightened completely out of her mind suddenly wants to get it on with the stranger who could be a rapist, a murderer, or both? It goes downhill from there, when she's suddenly mixed up with some really bad Russian guys, finds herself in the role of gourmet chef for a bunch of psychotic Russians while wearing the skimpiest, most cliched outfit imaginable. And, of course, is sexually harassed by them. Though, given her immediate response to Nick, I'm surprised she wasn't turned on by the Russian creeps as well. I made it through about 30 pages before I threw the book in the trash, completely disgusted. It wasn't even worth the time/effort to try and pawn the book off on a local used bookstore. (Thankfully, I only paid 50 cents for it in the bargain bin at my local library.) Though not my favorite genre, I have read some good erotic-suspense books. This book doesn't come close. It actually left me wondering if publishers will publish anything these days.

Shannon McKenna's books are so good. This one is not desapointing. It's one of those books that you read in one sitting and when you're finished you wish there were another two hundred pages left. At least.
I can't wait for the next one.

This novel starts out in the most improbable way but before the third chapter I'm in all the way for the ride. The characters are clearly and beautifully drawn. I especially thought the male lead was one of the best characters this author has created. His loss of the simple ability to laugh or smile, let alone enjoy more sensual pleasures was touching and believable. As always, I have a little more trouble with the female characters--I for one would never go skinny dipping in the middle of the night in a strange house--but then, when IS a good time to skinny dip, hmmm? I hate the visciousness of the villians, but that seems to be a trademark, so I accept the good with the bad. Luscious and involving read, well worth the trade paperback price.

I'm a big fan of McKenna's McCloud Brothers series (this is number 5). I eagerly awaited this release, knowing it would be about Nick. Yes, it's getting a little formulaic by now (meet under dangerous conditions, fall in love, all hell breaks loose, he/she loses faith in him/her, all's lost, but wait...OMG happily ever after!!!), but I honestly didn't care that much. McKenna's writing style is intelligent, literate, and erotic. I care about her characters and she brings their emotions vividly to life. Erotic fiction can be a tough genre to navigate, and I trust McKenna to deliver.
This said, I was disappointed by the beginning of the book. I always look forward to that first electric encounter where the main characters grab each other by the hair and have at it. In this case, a simulated rape occurs first, and then McKenna pushes us straight into that ever-important first-sex. McKenna's so good (too good) at showing us Becca's emotions, and I was too upset over the "rape" to enjoy the ensuing sexual encounter. I know some entertain rape fantasies (so it may not bother everyone), but I found it a buzz-kill.
The book has a very EVIL villain, and his sins involve the exploitation (but not rape) of children. McKenna's great at creating really awful, dimensional villains for our heroes to battle, but I can see how this particular storyline might make some folks overly upset.
"Extreme Danger" earns four stars when compared to the erotic romance genre as a whole, but it's only a three-star for McKenna. If you're interested in the McCloud story arc, you'll definitely want to read it. If not, read McKenna's "Hot Night" (or stop stalling and read "Behind Closed Doors" - I'm glad I did!).
