If you are looking for "first date" ideas, this is not your book. It is for someone you are clearly intimate with as it leans more toward "How to arouse a man" while on a date. If that's what you are looking for, then get this book.

It is also written for women (as it is by Redbook).

I went about my life wondering why men had such power over my life and emotions, despite the fact that I have many accomplishments under my belt and am a smart career woman.

Until I read this book I did not realise that I had emotional needs I was expecting another person to meet. These needs overpowered my judgement when chosing the right guy. I also had misconceptions on what a good relationship was supposed to be like. I thought feeling anxious was normal.

This book helped me figure out why I felt the way I did for many years, and now I have control of my life. As I read the book I felt lots of excitement, because I was discovering that things can be different, and this was the knowledge that would lead me to a happier life.

I would really like to thank the authors for enlightening me, and for their empathetic tone.

Examples on how to change would have been very helpful.

After reading this book my first thought was, Where was this book years ago when i really needed it? perhaps it's never too late to dissolve self destructive patterns. My father was killed when i was young setting the course for a lifetime of bad choices. My destructive behavior began in college when took up cohabitation with an older man looking for that father figure. I compounded that fiasco by marring him. after reading this book and others i have become painfully aware that the first step to taking my life back is acknowledging the choices i have made and why I made them.

A great book!

Just a great book showing all of the choices women can make, why we sometimes make the wrong ones without realizing it, and to learn how to make better ones without sacrificing our dignity. The book gives great examples to learn from!

I have just completed my first reading of "Forgive for Love" by Dr. Fred Luskin. This will be a book I read again and again. The book discusses the core need for forgiveness as an integral part of every healthy relationship. This subject matter is long overdue and Dr. Luskin's analysis and conclusions about the material are well thought out and well articulated.
I valued this book because it provided a solid and previously missing foundation for so many other relationship and communication books. I teach Couple Communications and often find `self help' and `how to' guides to relationship to be hollow and unfulfilling. . I believe many of these self help books will have more value with this text as a foundation.
Dr. Luskin's detailed analysis of who the individuals in a relationship are and how they error in their interactions; provides the groundwork necessary to make his exercises both meaningful and the resulting changes more probable.
Despite the available information to the contrary; fairy tale expectations still flood the arena of relationships. "Forgive for Love" dispels these false foundational expectations with a refreshing and realistic appraisal of the human condition as flawed; practical and tested training to deal with this reality; and a resultant mind set conducive to meaningful relationship.
While I would recommend this book to couples in troubled relationships; I would suggest that individuals not wait. This book belongs in the hands of anyone old enough to be in a relationship and should be on the gift list for all weddings and wedding showers.

A Great List of Ideas to Spark your Creativity

Review Date: 2008-02-04
First off, it's important to realize this is a reference tome. You really don't sit down and read through the 1,001 suggestions one after another, like reading a novel! This book is nicely broken up into sections. If you need an idea for a romantic movie, you flip to that section. If it's ideas for a special night out, you go to that section. This is the perfect book to leave in the bathroom or by the bed, to skim through when you have a few minutes.

In any list this large, there are going to be a number of ideas that some poeple say "That's obvious! Why put it into a book!" However, I have many lists like this on my website and I can prove from experience that every item one person says "everybody knows that!" to - another person writes to say "that idea was brilliant!" It is the way of the world. Everybody has somthing to learn.

So, what do YOU stand to learn from this book? Every section will undoubtedly hold something new. There are tons of movie ideas. tons of song ideas for playlists. Tons of quotes for cards, sayings for toasts. Tons of websites to visit to buy flowers, chocolates, paintings, clothing, you name it. There are ideas to discuss with your romantic partner. Places for you to go. There are tons of ideas that cost money - but also tons of ideas that are completely free.

Do I find some of the ideas silly? Sure. One of the tips talks about a guy bringing his wife a cup of tea every night in bed - *whether she wants one or not* (italics theirs). That doesn't sound romantic to me, it sounds controlling!

Still, that was just one part of one tip. Unlike some books that count every single line as a separate tip, this one has a list of 128 items to know as "just one item". It even has a bonus section in the center with more items for you to read.

So again, you come back to the "silly" idea. Who needs a giant book of romantic ideas? Well, if you are creative and spontaneous, and every day is full of romance, then you probably don't need this book. That's fine! But for many people, they do NOT have romantic ideas sprouting out of their ears. They honestly get stuck and need help. Those people are who this book was written for, and it is VERY helpful.

Even for those people, will every single tip be meaningful? Probably not. Some tips appeal to planners, some appeal to those who want an idea "for right now". But again, with so many tips in here, that is both expected and quite fine.

The best way to use this book is as a team. Get one color highlighter for one person, and a different color highlighter for the other. Go through the book at your leisure and highlight your favorite items. That way when you skim the book looking for inspiration, not only do you get ideas, but you get ideas you KNOW your partner really is interested in.

This is one of those books that you use for years and years to add a spark into your life. Every relationship can grow and improve. Every relationship SHOULD be worked on daily to be its best. I really do feel this book can help you do it, if you're seeking ideas.

Good luck!

A good read.
This book is good for beginners, nice guys who have tremendous approach anxieties. It will modify their core level of thinking. I found it interesting but no match for books from PUAs like Style, Mystery.
I also found that it doesn't quite realate to true Zen which is instant enlightenment not this kind of mundane. In addition the symbol on the girl's back is Tao-YinYang not Zen.

Conclusion
If you've already read those books, you can skip this book.
If you're infected with NGS Nice guy syndrome - this is a must.

I had a review up here before but all the reviews dissappeared. What's up with that? Oh well, I'm back to say this is indeed the best book on pickup out there. The Zen stuff is just icing on the cake. The book is filled with assignments, step by step instructions that will take you from where you are now to where you want to be, whether that's in a relationship or casual dating or whatever. It really explores all the variables and gives you some solid advice on improving your game and getting results. Definitely a well written and well thought out guide.

Saw this book at my brother's and decided to give it a look. I guess if you're afraid of women or afraid of rejection, lack confidence or are just plain ugly -- well scratch that last one, no don't -- then this might be the book for you. However, in my life I've found that there are women everywhere. You can find them in supermarkets and malls, at baseball games and town hall meetings, carnivals and parades.

Heck, they're everywhere. I've spotted them at the beach, in bars, uptown and downtown. I've seen them at the airport, even saw one in my carport. Lord have mercy there are just so many of them and I've found if you say hello, most say it back. My advice, if you want a dinner date, ask a woman, if she says no, ask another, but if you're afraid or too shy to do that, then give this book a whirl, it might just help you out.

These pua books continue to impress me. Their advice is equally applicable to business. Be in the moment when you talk to someone. Go with the flow of the conversation. Do not try to anticipate or direct it. Golden. Weiss gives examples of the hows and explains the whys. Also a good mantra: notice, admire, relate when talking to women. This mantra drives an emotional conversation which leads to a mutual emotional state. An excellent addition to the literature.

Look under every rock, follow the author down a sometimes uncomfortable path and you will have a nicely ironed out relationship. Enjoyable quotes and good flow. Enjoyed the Dick Davidson quotes.

A Christian may think they know about sex, what it entails and its spiritual signficance, but this book delivers a message that most are unaware of. Not only does the author biblically evaluate how the act of sex has such powerful spiritual impacts, but also that the "physical" alone carries deep meaning and purpose. A must read not for just any couple, but any Christian who wants to have a healthy attitude towards sex and sexuality as a whole.

Distracted by the humor

Review Date: 2007-03-24
If the idea of sacred sex is totally foreign to you, you need this book. I bought one based on the previous reviews (see below) and was looking to improve my overall relationship with my husband of 27 years for Christ's glory. I give my husband, a bible teacher, credit for teaching me on many levels how our marriage is a priceless picture of Jesus and His bride. Regarding this book, the humor was a distraction and undermined an otherwise holy message. Quoting W.C. Fields, Marilyn Monroe, Billy Crystal and the like seemed contrary to the reverence the title suggests. The author was *not* crude or vulgar. I just recommend you read the excerpts Amazon offers on this book before purchasing. If the humor you see there works for you, I came away appreciating: 1) Mrs. Gardner's brief contributions and 2) the author's comment of how desecrated sex has become. You might try Sacred Marriage.

Graduate School Endorsed!

Review Date: 2007-05-04
We recently used Sacred Sex in a human sexuality class in graduate school. Fantastic choice! The overall class consensus was that not only was this book extremely helpful for us individually as we prepare to become professional counselors and wrestle with our own "theology of sex," but it will also be an invaluable resource for those we minister to in the future. This is not a book on "sexual technique" (there is an over abundance of those). Instead, Sacred Sex leads the reader on a unique yet vital journey into "Why God created sex in the first place" and helps them understand (in very practical ways) how to apply those discoveries to their own lives and marriages. We also greatly enjoyed the author's sense of humor. As they say, Sacred Sex is "A Must Read!"

A Good Dose of Belly Laughter -- with Reverence!

Review Date: 2007-05-04
Dr. Gardner quotes the great C.S. Lewis as saying, "Nothing is more needed on the whole subject of sex than a good dose of belly laughter." I couldn't agree more. And Gardner provides that without EVER being disrespectful, crude, vulgar, or offensive. It seems to me that the goal of Sacred Sex is to help couples experience the total JOY that God, the Creator or sex, intended for his married children. This book helps couples realize that sex is not primarily about pleasure or procreation, which is the focus of most books on sex. Rather, it is about "oneness;" and true oneness leads to deep and abiding joy.

Gardner also cites the renowned Dr. Howard Hendricks as saying, "We should not be embarrassed to discuss what God was not embarrassed to create." This book will help Believers get over their embarrassment of s-e-x as it brings a healthy amount of humor to a very sacred subject and provides excellent tools for couples to discuss this very sacred act. Readers will greatly benefit from the author's challenge to approach every aspect of their sex lives with the question, "Will this make us more 'one,' or will this drive us apart?"

Sacred Sex is a great balance of Scriptural truth, challenge to change, practical wisdom, reverence for the "Marriage Bed," and God-honoring fun! Couples should buy it, read it together, and Celebrate Oneness in Marriage the way God intended!

I first looked at this book online and thought it would be good but I was very disapointed, Tyler Blake's character seemed interesting at first but the story is nothing but a repeat of bad men and bad decisions.Tyler wants to be an actress and her mother made sure she was born with a lot of self-confidence and conceit about her beauty and talents. Tyler liked to think she was independent but she let other people, and her past, rule all the choices she made in life. She didn't want to be her mother but she ended up being even worse and much more of a weaker of a person. She let the men in her life abuse her mentally, physically, emotionally and sexually and she let herself believe it was her fault. Tyler gets her happy ending but it was very anti-climatic for me.

Emmotional rollercoaster!

Review Date: 2008-02-11
In Dirty Little Secrets, we meet Tyler Blake, a beautiful little girl who is pampered by her much-flawed mother, and raised to believe that the love of a "good" man is her birth right.

As Tyler enters her teenage years, she begins to desire the love of that "good" man that mother always told her about, and she sets out on a quest to discover it.

Because of Tyler's beauty, meeting men is NEVER a problem for her, it's just that the type of men she attracts are the scum of the earth brothers. Tyler is persistant, though. She doesn't give up just because this one uses and abuses her, this one beats her, this one controls her, that one is sexually aggressive with her, and that other one rapes her. After every unfortunate episode, she picks herself up, dust herself off and keeps it moving. Most of her new relationships are formed mere weeks (and sometimes only days) after the previous relationship ends. She is young, and naive, and never gives herself a chance to heal or truly evaluate what went wrong in each relationship. Tyler's the type who HAS to have a man. If she doesn't, she feels TOTALLY inadequate.

While Tyler did continuously make the same mistakes over and over again, I liked this book and her character. Whenever I felt the need to climb up on my soapbox and judge her, I would remind myself that during most of this book, she was a teenager. Although she grew up fast, and started having sexual encouters at a very young age, she was still just a baby, who was thrown out into the world with very little SOUND guidance.

This book was a fast read, with a great amount of drama, though most of the drama was repetitive (because she kept doing the same things OVER & OVER). I've enjoyed Joy/Deja King's other books, and I enjoyed this one, too. I would definitely recommend it to teenage girls, as a reference book for the terrible things that can happen to a young girl who has her eyes on the wrong prize.

This book is not a learn to sew book. This book is to refine the sewing skills that you already have. This book is what would turn a beginner into an intermediate sewer.

This book is hard to categorize. It is not a typical reference book as the topics included appear to have been selected at random, it appears to be an assortment of loosely related tips and techniques.

I love the creativity this book encourages.

This is one of those books that should be in every sewing library no matter what you like to sew because you learn techniques that can be carried over from sewing clothes to sewing home decor, etc. I have been sewing for 50 years, and sewing has changed considerably during that time. This book is like going to class once again. I purchased it to go with my new computerized sewing machine, and I'm learning new skills to go with my new machine.

Great instructions. Wonderful close up pictures. Well worth the purchase price.

Of all the excellent books that I own on the subject of sewing, "Power Sewing" is the book that I pull out every day for reference. As I make my pattern, cut it out and then assemble the garment, there is always some little trick that I recall seeing in this book that causes me to flip through the pages once again until my memory is refreshed by one of Ms. Betzina's bullet-points or by one of the pictures. There are no long paragraphs in this book -- all instructions deal directly with the matter at hand and are clearly illustrated in a format which leaves no question unanswered. Without a doubt, this book alone has guided me so that I have been producing wonderfully-constructed projects. This is a book that is practical and extremely useful for anybody that sews.

This is a good book if you are an intermediate or advanced sewer looking for ways to create designer quality garments at home. The photography in this book is amazing, and is great for ideas. Power Sewing is very much geared towards mimicking upscale clothing that lasts a lifetime. Some of the techniques are good for everyday clothing, but in general if you want to follow her techniques and suggestions be prepared to spend some time and money. Many of her suggestions require using expensive materials that can be difficult to find locally.

For beginners, I suggest any of the Easy Guide to Sewing books published by Taunton. They are easier for a beginner to follow, and really go into "why", not just "how". Power Sewing is more of a manual for more experienced sewers looking to solve sewing problems.

I'm not a big reader, so I got the first one (Player's Handbook Volume 1 - Pickup and Seduction Secrets For Men Who Love Women & Sex (and Want More of Both)) on CD and thought it was great. Couldn't find Vol 2 on CD, so I got the print version.

With that said, I found reading this really enjoyable!!

Pickup and seduction stuff is great, but what I liked best about this one, and have found the most useful, is Tommy's advice on how to give oral sex to a woman. Good stuff I had not seen anywhere else and which had my last date questioning where I had learned it. Now she is like putty in my hands (or mouth). And she keeps coming, errrr RETURNING back for more. ;)

If you guys are into that stuff, and any real man SHOULD be, get this one. You'll use this stuff night after night, I promise.

This is one of the best books on seduction that i've read. It has good tips you can use right away and not a lot of fluff. Tommy is entertaining in his delivery, so it's a quick read, too.

So you picked her up... Now what?

This book has some good stuff on what to do after you get her home. It's great to have confidence in the bar or club, but a lot of these books fall flat when it comes to maintaining a relationship, even for the night. It's easy to talk to women for 10-20 minutes and get a phone number, but the real skill is how you manage the relationship afterward. And Tommy will tell you how to now only manage a single relationship, but multiple relationships at one time, as well.

Good tip on the audio book. I thought it was great and it gave me an idea of who this guy is who I'm trying to emulate. The print version has a lot more stuff in it though. There is some pretty graphic "bed technique" that he doesn't give in the audio. Why that is, I don't know, but it's definitely here in the print version.

Get this book and you'll be out on the town (and back to your place) by this weekend!!

Another great book from Tommy Orlando!! - This man is like Spanish Fly!!

Ok, so I read Player's Handbook Volume 1 - Pickup and Seduction Secrets For Men Who Love Women & Sex (and Want More of Both) and thought it was so good I got the audio book. Well, I just went straight for the audio book on Volume 2 and it didn't disappoint!! Tommy is great in print, but even better when he talks. You'll really get a feel for how slick this dude is.

About me-- I am a 35 year old guy in Columbus, OH. It used to frustrate me that I am right in the middle of this huge college campus with like 45,000 students, but all the hot chicks would just pass me by. And the stuff like Mystery and Style and other PUAs is ok, but I felt like I was a bit too old for it.

Enter Tommy Orlando... This guy gets it!! Very smooth and brings with him an "old school" flavor which women are totally into. He makes these other guys look like little boys trying to makeout with chicks at a Jr. High dance.

This book talks about juggling multiple women, keeping everybody happy, how to keep everything straight (money, names, hobbies), and more philiosphy that will help you get tons of girls.

Everything is short, to the point, and simple. I got this book about a week or so ago and have already have had a couple of dates. Nice!!

This book is like the older brother you never had. A total bargain for $10. It's quick and to the point. All strategies and not any fluff or grandstanding. Tommy has game so obvious he doesn't need to tell you how great he is. When you listen to him, you'll know he's the real deal.

Quick and Easy Read - Get your game up to speed!!

Kept hearing everybody talk about Player's Handbook Volume 1 - Pickup and Seduction Secrets For Men Who Love Women & Sex (and Want More of Both), so I got it and enjoyed it. Finally picked up Volume 2 to go with it.

I really enjoy Tommy's writing style. So many of these dudes take themselves way too seriously. And the fact that Tommy doesn't lets me know he is for real. He doesn't care whether you, or the girls he dates, like him or not. He's not out trying to prove a point. He's like, "This is who I am, I'm not going to force you to get with me or like me-- either we do this or I'll move on to somebody else."

That's a true player. These other dudes spend half their books trying to convince you how cool they are. Nicknames, funky outfits, or the like. Tommy is bare bones stuff. Yes, it's simple, but isn't pickup at its most basic level simple? Why complicate it with a bunch of noise.

I like this book and am looking for more like it. And I can't wait to get more from Tommy Orlando!!

This book wasn't for me. It wasn't bad though, it gave some interesting advice and some good advice.

For me I'm a mid-20s girl and I'm just looking for someone I can get along with and maybe grow old with, have a white fenced house and a couple of kids sort of thing.

This book is for girls that want to get the "catch" the rich guy or something like that. This is the book that tries to tell you how to play the game, so they guy will want you more and want to marry you. I mean this is all well and good, but I don't want a "rich" guy. It will be nice I must admit but not something I'm really looking for.

If you want to be a stay at home mother or wife and cater to your "rich" husband, than this might be the book for you.

If you have run out of relationship books to read and want another point of view, this might be the book for you.

If you haven't read that many relationship books, then there are other good ones out there, this shouldn't be your first relationship book, is all I'm saying.

This is the first book that lets you know how men think. It is not about game playing. If you are looking for a serious relationship this is the book for you.

Well, all I can say is Janis has hit another home run with this book - no wonder it is a bestseller in the relationship category already! Janis' wise, funny, honest, and down to earth advice will be heaven to anyone who is panicked when the doorbell rings and "Mr. First Date" is on the other side. Moreover, Janis takes you by the hand and leads you right through the first date and down the aisle...this book should go directly into your Fendi Fanny Pack and STAY THERE until you have met and married Mr. Right!

Most of the advice makes sense save a few notable exceptions

I don't happen to agree with her advice that it's okay for a woman to ask men out on dates. She claims this will make you seem confident to men. I disagree. I think it makes a woman seem desperate instead, and it takes away the "thrill of the chase" for the man. A truly desirable woman doesn't need to ask men out. She's too busy getting pursued by them.

The author also says that if a man has your phone number but doesn't call you again after a date, then you should call him. WRONG. If he doesn't call you again, it's because he wasn't that into you, and you should take the HINT and move on. By calling him, it just sets you up for further rejection. Who needs that?
