This is great advice on being your own woman within a marriage. I really liked Mama Genas' wit, charm & approach in which
to infuse all the joy, fun & passion you can handle. And the best part is, it really works! I feel positive and truly happy
about my life and that just spills over into my marriage.

I read in some of the review below that this author is divorcing. I'm not surprised one bit. This is the worst marriage advice
since Dr. Laura Schlessinger's books. Mama Gena advises women to put your own desires first and foremost, even before your
husband's or marriage because this will make your husband love you more. And in one of the examples, she suggests flirting
with another woman's man on behalf of the woman to help her get what she wants. This book is insulting. Not to mention
the cheap examples she throws in: (This happened to my friend, so it can happen to you mentality). She portrays men as idiots
who don't know what they want anyway so women take advantage of that by manipulating them. Get them to do what you want --
TRAIN them. Get a bunch of shallow girlfriends to disclose all you and your husband's intimate secrets. He won't know anyway.
Its just between us girls right? I can't believe someone publishes this woman's books.

pleasure at the forefront of your marriage and the forefront of your life.

face thoughout their careers. A good read for those entering the profession and a must read for those recently married.

As the spouse to a physician, I have always wondered if our relationship was unique. After reading this book, I realized
the answer is yes and no. Yes, it is unique in that I am married to a physician which has its own set of characteristics.
And No, it isn't unique among other medical marriages. We are not alone when it comes to spouses who are driven, perfectionists,
and OCD to name a few. This book lays out the various types of physician relationships, their personality traits and characteristics
and examples of good and bad relationships. An added benefit is the quotes from real life couples and also the steps successful
couples have followed. This book really saved my sanity and gave me perspective I greatly needed at a tough time. I realized
I had to have a different understanding of my relationship as it was unique to the profession. A wonderful book for anyone
about to enter a relationship with a physician, anyone already in a relationship and for the physician themselves! ( My husband
read it and said, 'Hmm, that does sound like me!" )
there is a reason that the AMA commissioned this book--medical marriages can be difficult

Separate sections for the male as the physician, the female as the physician, and when both are physicians are presented.
Whatever your circumstance, it is very useful to see your relationship difficulties in terms of the problems that others are
undoubtedly experiencing. You can benefit from the authors' useful ideas for best managing typical conflicts, without blaming
yourself or your spouse. The authors note that all counseling, reimbursed by US-based health insurance, involves assigning
a psychiatric pathology label. This process, alone, is likely to be iatrogenic.
Learning to best manage life's difficulties is is a major thrust of the Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples Education (smartmarriages.com) an organization to which the authors contribute. Repetiton of improved relational habits from educational foundations, such as this book are an important key typically unknown to a majority of "therapists."
This is a "must" textbook for medical libraries, and a must read for those entering medical school.

No doubt ~ it was a relief to read we weren't the only ones. Medical marriages are without question wound together tightly
by stress, partly due to the job, and partly due to the type of personality the job attracts (the best docs out there seem
to have a degree of OCD, which interestingly often contributes to their success).
I did not find this book to be helpful in moving forward however. For that, I turned to the marriage topic in general and discovered "All You Need Is Love and Other Lies About Marriage." Between these two titles, I feel we've gotten past some bumps in the road and hopefully *fingers crossed* are educated enough to head future trouble off at the pass.
If you're drowning in a medical marriage, use these two books as your life saver. And know that you aren't alone! Much luck and happiness to you. :o)

I wish I'd come across this book years ago. Medical schools should have a mandatory class built around this book. Reading
it I constantly found myself amazed at how similar the accounts of other medical marriage were to my own. I'd find my physician
husband's behaviors, opinions, attitudes, etc. common to many other physicians in the book and my own frustrations, worries,
behaviors mirrored by many of the physician wives in the book as well. The book classifies medical marriages into 8 categories
(male physician married to at-home wife, female physician married to non-physician, two married physicians, etc.) I was surprised
at how closely our category tagged our relationship's problems, strengths, needs. I do wish they'd gone into more detail
on how to handle the various problems, ways to avoid the common pitfalls, etc. I plan on lending it to a friend where both
husband and wife are physicians.

This book cheered me up when I was going through a break-up with my ex (still am actually) but it did make me feel better.
It's like having a best girlfriend there to remind you that it's ok to hate him, even if it's in your mind, if it gets you
out of that place (you know what I mean). It really stresses getting in touch with your best mates, even if you have abandoned
them for the jerk, so you can remember who you are and why your worth isn't determined by whether he likes you or not. The
only part I couldn't relate to, because it doesn't pertain to my situation, it the part about mates (friends), because I don't
have any to lean on at the moment, I wonder why??? That Jerk!!!

Following a devasting recent break-up, I pulled this book off my shelf again for a good laugh. If you're in a "my-ex-is-wonderful-and-my-life-is-over"
kind of morose mood and need to get some perspective, this book will really help you feel better. It's a tongue-in-cheek
tome to get in touch with your anger (instead of your sadness) over being dumped. It contains hysterical fantasy scenarios
for getting back at your ex; stuff you would never do, but that sure feels good to THINK about doing. It will also help you
take your ex off the pedestal and realize he's just a guy, not some god. And it will help you realize there's a lot more
life for you to live.
This is the BEST breakup book ever!

Don't waste your time with "Its called a breakup because its broken" or "Don't call that man"--just pony up the 12 for this
book and get going with your life. This book is all about dealing with the drama of the breakup, reclaiming your own life,
and not wallowing and being desperate. It also deals with what do to when your ex wants you back. There is no reason not to
buy this book; its fantastic. It will help you and make you laugh at the same time.

Not your ordinary breakup survival guide is right - although I am still mourning the end of my almost 2-year relationship,
I was in stitches reading this. James offers razor-sharp wit, such as, "If a man calls you 'psycho', it's his way to cover
up what HE did wrong." HA! I love it. Although I would never employ the body-maiming suggestions (dunk his head in hemorrhoid
cream - voila - he's gone!), I did need the laugh. If you want to hermit yourself, that's ok, but take this book to bed with
you. You'll be glad that James sheds the light on how men really think, and reminds you of the diva you really are.

I thought this book was great. I found it while I was looking for information on doing a project for school. It has signs
to look for if you think you're in an abusive relationship, and stories about girls that have gone through this situation.
There is also a story from a mother's view. I thought it was a wonderful book. I think anyone that thinks they might be
in this situation should read this book.

...this is the best book for understanding your role and your partner's role in a love, an employment, a friendship and a
family relationship. know how the other person will react/ respond by knowing whether they are "the giver" or "the taker".
find self discovery of one self. you will see where, why, and how you are networked with people in your own naturally born
choices. psychologically understand yours and theirs weaknesses and strengths in your two way street relationship. understand
compatibility of "opposites attract". why you are attracted to that special someone, understand how you are categorized at
work, understand why you are "best friends" and see your immediate/ distant family in their characteristics and influence.

At first, I had a love hate relationship with this book. I sensed that everything in it was true, yet I wasn't ready to face
it. Once I got past my denial, I began using it as a reference book for all of my relationships.
THE GIVERS & THE TAKERS in not just about boyfriend and girlfriend issues. The information is relevant for any relationship: mother/daughter, friends and co-workers. A great read.
When I'm troubled over relationship issues, I can usually find some insightful piece of wisdom that reminds me that I'm giving too much to someone. And, I learned that Takers exist because Givers focus more on other people than on themselves.

I'm a Giver and this book is terrific. Enlightening! It features a powerful tool that enabled me to see my apologetic personality

I used to give too much to everyone: my teenaged kids, my husband, and my co-workers. I was a pushover for the Takers in my
life. This book changed me. Reading it was a "Big Aha!" I now say "no" to others without feeling guilty. I walk different,
talk different, and dress different, and I've stopped apologizing so much. Until I read THE GIVERS AND THE TAKERS, I was addicted
to pleasing others and didn't know it. I actually thought I was assertive. After reading Evatt's and Feld's 30 Giver Traits,
I saw my self-denying pattern clearly. Also, the authors say that "Since Givers expend more energy than they receive, they
often eat to make up the loss." That was me, too. This book is not frivolous. It contains an original personality theory that
is quite sophisticated.

This book has good ideas-it's a short, simple read. It's another book about thinking positive thoughts and looking at your
fears and confronting them. The included CD skipped on the 8th track which had the 'big secret' ..so I am not fully sure what
that is. I survived.
Using this and other positive thoughts I opened myself up and am going on a 2nd date with a girl I met a few weeks ago. So basically the message is to think, percieve and believe and you'll get it. I know I had and still do have fears and apprehensions about stopping 'the seach' for 'the one' --this book assisted in hammering into my head that I am the one who is behind the lack in my life- and if I REALLY want something- I need to focus on it, define it, let go of fears and go get it.

"Chicks" is an excellent guide for guys. It covers all or most aspects of meeting and dating a woman but overall concentrates
on the total man you are and how to get the most out of what you have to offer. It's not about changing yourself, it's about
changing your attitudes, which may or may not be outdated. Also, this book really goes in depth about how women respond to
advances, when to make a move, sex, love, etc. It's helped me become a better dater and also helped me to see the dating scene
more objectively.

In 8 chapters, Machele Kindle, otherwise known as Master Fire, lays out her reasoning and purpose behind her own M/s household's
structure. Her approach is purposeful, meant to help her readers consider what they want and how to get it while being grounded
in reality. Each section includes three parts: first her reasoning behind each set of expectations, second a set of questions
for both wouldbe masters and wouldbe slaves to consider, and finally a copy of the relevant section of her own manual. A good
look into one master's mind that does not fall into the common trap of thinking hers is the only way a relationship should
function
Extremely bad information from an inexperienced person

This was written by a person that has less then 5 years of experience, who went to a week-end class and then called herself
a Dominant (P.16). Now she is giving bad information about subjects that she has little real knowledge about. For example,
she has a chapter on a poly house without having ever had a poly house or any kind of poly experience (P.86). The author's
idea of dominance is to domineer rather than to dominate (P.218). She is quoting an "online" dominant that admits to having
only one year of online experience let along no real-time experience.
She is extremely inconsistent in what she says, she tries to use psychology to explain behaviors but it is obvious that she has no real understanding of slave psychology (or any other kind of psychology). She has serious personal issues (such as abandonment P.33), pettiness, and other serious control issues that she writes about whereas she should not be giving advise to beginners that are seeking truth. She shows her style of dominance as being manipulative based upon her own insecurities... (P.41). The book is fragmented and rambles on and on.
This is a book that is filled with very bad and misleading information concerning this way of life by an inexperienced person with a lot of personal issues and little real ability to Dominate.
I would not even recommend this book to my cat. It is poorly written and there are other far better books that deal with the same issues and subjects overall. If there was a negative rating this would get a negative 4 stars.

Overall it was decently written

Overall it was decently written and covers a lot of ground. Worth a look if you've never created a manual.
Nothing else like this in print

This is a very important book in the literature about Master/slave relations and, in particular, about Master/slave Households.
This book is both very narrow and very broad. It is narrow because it remains true to discussing the often-complex workings
of a Leather Household. It is broad in that it succeeds extremely well in covering the intricacies and give and take of such
a Household.
For those of you interested in the Leather Master/slave life, it's a "must read."
