If this is a required text, as it was for me then buy it. The information isnt bad, and gives a good coverage of the subject, but the errata list I receieved from my professor spanned at least 20 pages, front and back. You'll learn controls with the right professor, but expect the book to confuse you with changing subscripts, even changing values in example problems. For example, the area of a wing in one example problem is listed as 945 ft^2 and yet the problem solves using the area of 965 ft^2. Equations will be missing subscripts entirely, or duplicate them. For example, in one end of the chapter section of problems, the 2-D coefficient of lift for the tail is listed twice as opposed to giving you one value for the tail, and another for the wing as they should have. Expect to make assumptions like they have never been made before either. So much will not be given to you, it will be up to you to decide what value is reasonable that youll use. Good luck to you if this is a required text.
Good Fundamentals Book by a Talented Writer

This is an excellent book for the modern fundamentals of aircraft control design. Most subjects are clearly treated with just the right amount of illustrations and examples. The author makes good effort of explaining procedures without resorting to function calls from some software package. The last of the book devotes relatively little space to modern control theory. I would hope this talented writer would create something more advanced in the future that would expand on his treatment of the state observer and the use of the cost function.
An excellent introductory book. Highly readable.

The best aspect of this book is the simplicity in the exposition of ideas and concepts while giving more than enough information for an introductory book. Fully worked out examples are frequent throughout the chapters and helps even further in getting good grasp of new materials. If the reader has taken introductory courses in Vibration and/or Feedback Control, the book should be an easy read. The book is roughly divided into two parts: The flight dynamics part and control part. In the flight dynamics part, the explanation smoothly leads the reader from equation of motion to the concept of stability derivatives and how they relate to dynamic stability. The derivatives are very well explained and then summarized in tables for a quick reference. In the control part, the author starts from the classic linear feed back control and proceeds to the modern state space method and introduces optimal control design using linear quadratic regulator. The control part is an amazing time saver. I have never seen a more efficient introduction to optimal control as applied to aircraft dynamics. If the reader wants a full fledged treatment of optimal control of aircraft, the materials presented here are far from enough, but as an introductory book, this is an excellent exposition that lets the reader get to pace quickly and have straight forward perspective on the subject. Although there were some blatant typos, it is an excellent work and I highly recommend the book.
A lot of info on aircraft control in a small textbook.

I found this textbook to include a large amount of concisely presented material on all aspects of aircraft stability and control and feedback control system design. It covers everything from the atmosphere, to development of forces and moments and equations of motion, to estimation of stability derivatives, analysis of dynamics and modes of motion, and handy reduced degrees of freedom. It also includes many examples of designing autopilots and stability augmentation systems. I really liked the examples which included both classical and state variable methods. Each chapter also has several interesting example problems. I would recommend this text for anyone in the field of aircraft or missile flight controls. The only dissappointing aspect of the text is what I consider an excessive number of typographical errors. I would caution anyone not to use the equations or formulas without first checking the derivation. The derivations are clear and concise enough that the reader should be able to find these errors.

I bought this book to help me in my search for a car to buy. It was useful in that regard, but it is also a very interesting history of an iconic automobile. My research interest was in the fifth generation of the Corvette (the C5) since that is the model I was interested in buying. The chapters on the other models were very informative and entertaining. I enjoy reading history, especially automotive history, and this book fit the bill for the Corvette. It is a little short on raw data, but I don't think that was the intent of the author in the first place. All in all, a good buy.

I own a C4 Corvette and try to buy every Corvette book that comes out. I was given a truly bad Corvette book for a Christmas gift this year ("Corvette: America's Sports Car: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" by Jerry Burton), a cheesy, vinyl-covered tossed-together collection of factoids and tired photography. I went out and bought this one myself. This is the book all Corvette owners should own. It is a well-written history of the Corvette that is so complete it serves as the ultimate Corvette resource book. Best of all, it's filled with 100s of never-before-seen photographs from GM Design's archives. That alone is worth the price of admission. If someone got you that low-rent red vinyl Corvette book as a gift, bring it back to the store and exchange it for this one.

Don't mention the mother, in Iacocca's own therm !! The car has so many fathers,he would'nt have liked to meet the mother.

Everything you wanted to know about mustang...even somethings you did not want to know. Great pictures and great articles. Year by year reviews of each mustang. These articles go over the slight differences between the model years/models etc. Over all, well worth the money. Found it cheap here too.

Not so fast, pony-breath; Remember Ed McMahon and his intros for Johnny Carson's comedy routines? Granted, this book may not have "everything" about Mustangs, but it sure comes pretty darn close, according to my husband. If was a gift for him after finally getting his dream car, a 2007 Mustang GT California Special convertible. There are numerous pictures of many different models as well as enough writing to explain any questions you may have. The delivery was fast and easy. If you love Mustangs, I'm sure you'll love this book!

Awesome book!!! Very good details and descriptions of changes from year to year. It lacks production numbers for some years but has them for most. The only thing that the book could use to make it any better is VIN codes and door panel codes for each year. Overall it's an awesome book.

I've been messing around with body work for years as needs require. Self-taught skills are useful but I also like to pick up good references for better techniques and new products. This is a solid, up-to-date, overview reference on body work. If you have experience, it's something to refer to on an as-needed basis. If you're starting a restoration or trying to fix your own car to save money and have no experience, this is an excellent information source. It would also be good for reference if you're paying someone else because you can understand what they're doing. Little things like metal prep and correct sandpaper grits to choose can make a big difference in your results, both in terms of looks and durability.

Robinson's book is truly a memoir, and I find this to be both a strength and a weakness. It gives the book strength because it is a complete personal account. Every piece of information is direct from not only a first hand observer, but moreover a participant. However it weakens the book because at points too much information was detailed. Especially information about already well documented events.
Interesting book.

This is a great first-hand account of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It gives great insight on the emotions of the boycotters, and the determination that kept them going. The book is a little slow at times, but it's well worth it in the end. It really shows the intricate details that made the boycott successful.

O.K. The book is archaic, BUT anyone who is seriously interested in the history of VW performance and understanding basic air-cooled fundamentals must read this. There are some sections of no practical use today, but many principles are timeless. Anyone who wants to understand the theory and physics of the engine should read this book. The knowledge base gained from reading this book can help prevent you from making the same mistakes your father or grandfather made when modifying their Beetle!

I used the book to help pass an interview and reference other materials versus this read. Very dry read, but found some obscure information I was looking for here. Highly suggest the book for the station, as people seem to pick it up often when subtle disagreements on facts/treatments occur. By the way, it helped me get the job.

I bought this book in prep for the FP-C exam and found it to be very well written. It's not an entertaining book, but if you are looking for cold hard knowledge about flight medicine, this is an excellent book. Since I have read it, many have borrowed it from me and tell me the same. It's bare bones medicine with no fluff. I would not recommend this for anyone who is new to the field.

This is a good book overall, if you can handle what is otherwise a very dry read. There aren't many textbooks for critical care out there like this one and because of that it is an invaluable resource. Nonetheless, it is very hard to read through and could use some spicing up.
Very informative on everything from advanced airway procedures, cardiac care, and transport pharmacology. Excellent section on peds as well.

I couldn't wait until my copy of this book arrived at my library so that I could start showing it off to all my favorite patrons. With beautiful photographs, the unusual but always upbeat 101 entries are for things like, "Plan the perfect vacation to someplace exotic," and "Celebrate a holiday for a culture not your own." For entries such as, "See a big race," times and addresses of everything from NASCAR to the Iditarod are given; for the entry, "See a meteor shower," the page includes when meteors can most likely be seen in the United States. It's a book about how to enjoy the world and the people around us. I just don't know why the cut-off is set at 12.
