I used the book to help pass an interview and reference other materials versus this read. Very dry read, but found some obscure information I was looking for here. Highly suggest the book for the station, as people seem to pick it up often when subtle disagreements on facts/treatments occur. By the way, it helped me get the job.

I bought this book in prep for the FP-C exam and found it to be very well written. It's not an entertaining book, but if you are looking for cold hard knowledge about flight medicine, this is an excellent book. Since I have read it, many have borrowed it from me and tell me the same. It's bare bones medicine with no fluff. I would not recommend this for anyone who is new to the field.

Critical Care Transport for Nurses and Medics...

Review Date: 2004-05-26
This is a good book overall, if you can handle what is otherwise a very dry read. There aren't many textbooks for critical care out there like this one and because of that it is an invaluable resource. Nonetheless, it is very hard to read through and could use some spicing up.

Very informative on everything from advanced airway procedures, cardiac care, and transport pharmacology. Excellent section on peds as well.

I and my brother used to fight over who got the copy of this from the public library. Later when the library decessioned the badly mauled (not just by us) book, my mother got that copy.

The story concerns two cars: an old car and a new car. They agree to have a race. The old car takes it slow, or at the speed limit anyway, and the new car goes speeding off. Speeding tickets and roadside assistance result in delays for both cars, and they are neck and neck (or bumper and bumper) at the finish. You may be surprised at who wins.

The writing is good for children who have learned to read, but are not too advanced. There are illustrations and they tell the story, but they are better used if someone is reading to the child. This is a book that I and my brother had both memorized from rereading it, if that gives you any indication of the book's quality.

The edition I have is printed in 1955. It has been heavily used, but the binding is good and the pages are not brittle. I can tug on pages and they are strong and firmly bound. An older edition of this book could withstand day-to-day use by children today.

Very disappointed with Amazon having a secondary publisher company handle their inventory. Ordered book in August and 29 days later the book finally arrived. Called the secondary company as they no longer respond to email inquiries and was quickly told that I would have to wait a full 30 days to request a refund. They said they had no tracking info either. Poor company to deal with. Suggest Amazon review their policies and how they handle customer disputes on their behalf.

Happy with the book but not the headaches associated with this transaction. Amazon itself has always been very good.

Simply an incredible, timeless book ...

This book would be a fantastic story if it was written TODAY. It's even more incredible that it all happened in 1932-33.

There are so many levels to enjoy in this book ...

* The pure adventure of it all - setting out on a motorcycle (a 750 pound, 6-horsepower monster, no less!) to travel around the world in 1932. It simply is mind-boggling that he pulled it off.

* The observations he makes along the way and how relevant they are even today. His observations of Afghanistan, in particular give insights into what has always been a war-torn country. If Bush & Co. had read this book, maybe we'd have left well enough alone.

* His pure tenacity and luck to get in-and-out of the situations he stumbles into. Being in jail is just part of the gig, and he takes it all in stride.

* The writing itself ... clean, crisp, and engaging. I couldn't put this book down.

This book is fantastic whether or not you ride a motorcycle.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Overall, the book is interesting and informative. It gives some great detail about the middle east, India and Asia in general. From a people perspective, I liked the fact that Mr. Fulton goes into some detail about what the people were like and some personalites. I did find however, that in some spots he focused too much on what people thought and not enough on his thoughts and feelings about "where" he was. Toward the end of the book, he rushed. He spent 80% of the time on the Middle east and India, 10% in the rest of Asia, and no time at all anywhere else. Again, overall, it was interesting and informative, but it did not capture my attention like say Jupiters Travels (same genera, by Ted Simon)

I could not put this one down. The story is so fantastic that you almost can't believe it happened. To see the world a little as it was 70 years ago was truly a window into the past.

Robert Fulton is a suprizingly good author in that the book flows smoothly and he only talks about what he finds interesting.

Candy for the imagination ..

I really enjoyed this book; it was too soon over.

I have ridden motorcycles for many years and would liked to have seen more comments on the practical aspects of the trip, even though it was many years ago. I suspect that Mr. Fulton did not keep daily notes but probably wrote down his memories at the conclusion of the trip, thus the detail is not always there.

The portrait of the middle East gives something for the people of today something to think about - basic beliefs and attitudes in that region may not have changed at all. Our expectations may need to be adjusted.

A long trip on a motorcycle is an unforgettable experience for anyone, even today. Four or five days from home, and the resources available there, projects the rider into a state of independence and freedom that I have not found any other way - imagine what it was like for Fulton to be riding across the desert, months from home, no road in some cases, towards the unknown, his life dependent upon his machine continuing to run, and totally on his own.

Every rider should get to read this book - a great treat for the imagination.

After reading reviews & recommendations from various sites, I decided that this was the book that I needed for my 924S. It is right on the money! Even though there is very little mention of the 924 in this book, the photos presented, could be of my car. If you are looking for a repair manual for the '87-'88 924S, this is what you want.

Not too expensive and it's good for the small jobs that would need a little help with. Good for head gasket's deffinitly since they are a [...] load harder to do alone without a book. This is also handy since I have a tight budget and need to save money. It does tend to tell you to go to a porsche dealer on harder tasks alot. So overall this is not ment for the complete overhaul but most of the small annoy and expensive stuff. A head gasket job alone can cost you $600. While if you buy the head gasket for $[...] and then do it yourself with a $[...] book. You just saved a big amount of money and time since you dont need to leave your car at the shop. Recommended for people who need assistence deffinitly.

For $15 this book is an excellent help with lots of pictures for most (but not all) the jobs you'll have to do on your 944. It's based on an early (pre 85.5) n/a 944 so some things have obviously changed on later cars, but for my 84 it is a perfect companion to helpful places such as clarks-garage.com. I highly recommend it for any 944 home mechanics.

This manual was obviously written for the UK. There is lot of information but they omit things like: EXHAUST!!! These vehicles have an odd ball and socket exhaust connection with a band clamp, it would have been nice to get some pointers on assembly. Also, no mention of seat heaters, radio repair, antenna fixes. Fortunately, there is wealth of information available on the web. All in all, its handy because it has fluid and torquing specs.

This is a British manual. They refer to some parts differently than American mechanics. I suppose this might bother some people, but I though it was rather interesting. Don't buy it if you TIRE of reading reading the word TYRE. Otherwise it's exactly what you expect from Haynes.

The NG900 Haynes manual was a constant companion when I had my car. It is full of information and pictures (though some of poor black and white quality). It provides good step by step detail for doing just about anything you would routinely need to do. Does it cover everything? Nope. The car used was a naturally aspirated 2.3l and not a 2.0 turbo, which is the more popular model. Therefore, a few things are just slightly different and a few things aren't covered in as great a depth as you may want. However, over all, this manual is priceless. It is a UK version, but everything is pretty much applicable for left-hand-drive cars. Now I need Haynes to come out w/ a 9-5 manual!

Review Date: 2007-06-14
I had some beat up trim pieces for two vehicles, a 57 belair and a 64 impala. After pricing replacement trim I realized I needed other options. I picked up this book and was very happy with it. It covers all aspects of repairing and restoring trim.

There were sections of replating that I skimmed over. all of my trim was stainless. The book walks you through tools and techniques. After reading it I went out and did some hammer work on the dents, then some sanding, then polished everything to a perfect shine. I think it looks better than the replacement trim I have seen on other cars. I am sure that some overseas factory worker is not putting the same attention into polishing the trim as I did.

The book is a great addition to your library if you have some experience restoring trim, or its even better if you have absolutely no experience or idea where to start. It will walk you through the entire process with plenty of pictures too.

My nephew is two and loves this book! He can anme almost everything in the book as we point ot it and becuse the pictures are actual photos, he recognizes them when we are out. Yesterday, as we were driving around, he said, "There's an excavator over there, see it, Ashy?" So cute. He has the dinosaurs book in this series, too, but I will be getting them all. So big and colorful. Love them.

I saw these reviews when I logged on to purchase a new copy of this great book. This is certainly one of the best books in the toddler's picture-book genre. My 3 year old son has loved this book since he was 2. My experience is similar to other reviewers. My son has memorized every picture and word of text in the book, and recites the detailed text verbatim, and wants to review the book with me cover to cover almost every night. I now know more about road-building heavy equipment than I ever cared to know.

I am another parent who has to buy a second copy of this book because my young toddler has destroyed his first copy by looking at it and carrying it around day and night. One caveat for those with small children, and one for those with older ones: the names of many of the things that go are long and complicated for little ones to learn; and the book was written for a British market, so some of the names, items and vehicles are not equivalent to the American ones (many examples of this on the "Emergency Vehicles" pages), which I imagine older boys may find confusing or irritating. But overall, it's the pictures that they'll love and keep coming back to, not the words. I'm constantly amazed at how my son's interest in this book never flags. Myself, I am heartily sick of it. But here I am on Amazon buying another copy, and was amused to see that so many other parents had had to do the same -- and it's not a badly constructed book! It has a hard cover and good-quality pages. They've just had to take a lot of punishment, and our copy's now made more of tape than of paper...

This is a high-quality guide with color pictures and/or color maps on every page and a good balance of great road descriptions with turn-by-turn instructions, commingled with information on the places you may wish to look or stay at along the way. Nearly all of the rides that are described look great. As useful a work as this book is, though, it is severely limited by it's size. A ride book covering France could be this short, but one covering a country the size of the USA should describe much more than 31 rides; possibly coming in several volumes. However, you could still be a bug-toothed rider for several years just riding the great roads they have listed so I still recommend it.

The only tours in the book close to the central US are in Colorado and Texas. There could have been less concentration of tours along the east and west coasts. Buy this book if you ride on the east or west coasts. There are other resources free on the Internet for Texas and Colorado. Arkansas State's web site promotes motorcycle tours with routes and attractions for free. Also this book's tours seem to be from the publisher's collection of the Motorcycle Journeys thought the same regions.
