I read these books a few years ago from the library, When a friend picked them up at a bookstore recently, I decided to flip through them again. It wasn't long before I had to buy my own set and re-read them.

Darkest Hour is my favorite in the series as it introduces some interesting new characters and serves as a pivotal turning point in Susannah's relationship with Jesse. The storyline is very intriguing, and humorous, as always. There is plenty to keep the pages turning.

I recommend this series for any girl who likes her love stories a little more unconventional and less Disney. =D

I love this book , and I love the character Jesse. This book is nothing but nonstop action and thrills , and some parts are so sad , and how Suze does to get Jesse back is certainly is unexpected. Although the new character Paul is very intriguing and I like his character , I can't wait to read the next book to find out about him.And I love the ending . Meg cabot really undone herself this time!

As would be expected with a Michelin map, this newly updated version of their formerly huge and unwieldy France Atlas is a vast improvement. It still maintains the same scale, but in smaller pages (and, alas, more of them). Still, it's indispensible for a motoring trip to France.

Just what we needed to find our way around France. We seldom made a wrong turn; and when we did, we were able to u-turn ourselves around and find our way. The maps are defined enough to show most little roads and "paths" so that we could drive right to where we needed to be.

The book to have in Europe

The Michelin Atlas is the comprehensive way to get around France. The scale is such that every road in France is included. They have reduced the page size in this edition to make it easier to use and compete with GPS. This beats GPS becvause although it doesn't tell you when to turn you can use it to plan your travels by leafing through it in your hotel in the evenings. If you are going to drive in France you NEED this book. The pages exactly match the Michelin online maps which is an additional bonus.

I don't usually write reviews on things, but this was a MUST. After reading all the previous reviews I simply HAD TO HAVE this book. When I received the book I ALMOST returned it!! I was so disappointed that there was only a few pictures which although sounds childish gets me to really want to make someting. Thank god I thought twice is all I have to say. I figured if the reviews were so good I had to give it a try. Theres actually a little excerpt under the title of each recipe and it paints a picture MORE THAN AN ACTUAL PICTURE EVER COULD. I absolutely love baking and have made numerous recipes in this book and NOT ONE has failed. You should see the condition of my book however LOL.. This book does it right to EVERY EXTENT. Sometime I have doubted the recipes, but have always followed along and the cookies always come out superb even when it just looks like its not gonna work! I cant express this enough- this book is amazing and it is an excellent gift to all fellow bakers!!

My copy was an early Christmas present which arrived in plenty of time for holiday baking. There are lots of tempting cookie recipes with numerous options...many are very easy to follow. The book is also an excellent source of baking information. Definitely a great compendium.

One of the things that I noticed about the recipes is that the amount of sodium (salt, baking powder, baking soda) is a lot less than any other cookie recipes. Having switched to a low sodium lifestyle, I really appreciate how these recipes were developed with this in mind, without impacting the final results, especially taste.

I'm glad I asked "Moma Santa" for it. Thanks, Mom!

Where to begin?

Weird Kentucky covers so many fascinating subjects, making it difficult to pigeonhole. Old wive's tales? Check. Urban legends? They're here. The paranormal? Fox Mulder would be proud. And you'll meet a wealth of local characters from all corners of the Commonwealth, from the 18th century to today.

This is one of the most unique and interesting books I've ever had the pleasure to read. Weird Kentucky is a celebration of the many wonderful things that make the Commonwealth special.

If you know how to read, you'll enjoy this book immensely, even if you have no connections to Kentucky.

I recently picked up a copy of Jeffrey Scott Holland's "Weird Kentucky" book and, being from Kentucky, I was amazed at the stories I had never heard. The book is full of photos and every story is professionally written. I plan on purchasing extra copies and giving to friends. I certainly hope Jeffrey Scott Holland will be providing us with future books of the same caliber.

I was rounding the corner in Joseph Beth when I saw the Weird Kentucky display and I was giddy with glee!! This book is amazingly great for all us weirdos and you know who you are!! Don't bother trying to hide:)

For starters, did you know about the "blue people" in Perry County, Kentucky? Heck, I live just a few miles from there and I didn't. But some investigation on my part, and the book facts are dead on. The blue people did exist!!

Did you know that Kentucky has their own versions of Bigfoot, the Jersey Devil and the notorious "Goatman"? We also have our own version of AREA 51 in Bluegrass Depot. Amazing scary stuff.

There are giants and secret midget villages. Ghosts and lost cities, both above and underground. Secret societies abound, along with mysterious mounds.

This is really good stuff!! I felt like a kid on Christmas morning poring over the photos and all the nifty factoids. After reading this volume I know my summer vacation plans have changed. I want to go exploring my mysteriously fasnicating state.

Jump into WEIRD KENTUCKY with both feet. You're gonna to love the swim:)

This is a very detailed book that gives a very good sense for the various campgrounds in Alaska. It provides phone numbers for most places, and we were able to call ahead to check availability and if the wash facilities were available and to check hours of operation. GPS locations are also given for each campground. It also lists some points of interest around the area of the campgrounds. This along with The Milepost were invaluable.

My wife and I recently came back from a 2-week RV trip from Alaska exploring as far north as Chena Hot Springs and as far south as Seward and had a wonderful time. This guide book helped us tremendously on our journey because it was easy to use, accurate, and comprehensive. If and when we do decide to return to Alaska for another trip, we'll be sure to buy the same guide and the latest edition.

This is not a bad book, but I was not overly impressed with it. I may be spoiled by always buying a "Rick Steve's" book, because they are easy to follow and MUCH more in depth. This one had only brief descriptions of everything in it, and I found the organization of the book left much to be desired. I think next time I will try a Frommer's book if a Rick Steve's volume is not available.

This is a pretty fun book to read while on road trips or looking at maps. My biggest complaint is that the book is probably 70% focused on Missouri and Kansas. I personally try to avoid driving across both of them, so the road trip value is minimal to me. The history is pretty interesting though, and the state section is great. Overall, this is a fun book for trivial knowledge- it would be of particular interest to someone who enjoys cartography and US History.

A new way to see New York City

I'm posting similar reviews for this pair of Ideo Eyes Open guides, one for Ideo Eyes Open: New York and one for Ideo Eyes Open: London, because they were released at the same time and share a common approach, with some promise of more guides to follow in the series.

Ideo is a design and image consulting firm that has created this series incorporating some of its more general design approaches and hoping the reader will slow down and look at usual things in an unusual way: "It's really just a matter of getting out there and opening yourself up to it all." Both books are beautifully designed, handy in the back pack or purse, with some clever "for your comments" stickers to highlight your own favorites.

The firm made its name in designing products, including the Palm V, but more recently has focused on environment design. Fred Dust is team leader of Smart Space, the company's real estate division and the editor of this series. One of Dust's first projects was Dilbert's Ultimate Cubicle designed in consultation with Scott Adams. It featured a boss monitor, an electronic window, a fold down Murphy chair, an Aquarium module and a roll up hammock.

In their projects, the team the starts with a "deep dive," during which "Smart Space designers, anthropologists and researchers spend days -- sometimes weeks -- shadowing people to observe how they live: when and where they eat, what time they go to bed, what their hobbies are, how they spend their money." The Eyes Open website and guide books follow the same approach: they publish unique experiences shared by IDEO staff and friends, and offering site visitors the opportunity to submit their own unique experiences in text and imagery.

Here are a couple of examples from the London guide of suggestions:

"Instead of taking high tea at a hotel lounge, go to Coffee@157. The light fixtures in this coffeehouse, as you can see, are made of to-go cups. Outside, a yellow vending machine dispenses artworks for less than 5 pounds each."

"Crumbs and Doilies is a boutique cupcake shop in the Sunday UpMarket, which is a spontaneous gathering of people selling arts and crafts and playing carom."

I'm not entirely sure who these guides will appeal to; there is precious little of the traditional guidebook information about prices, opening hours, travel directions, etc. But the goal is certainly worthy: opening yourself to your surroundings while traveling can be a wonderful experience. I remember once sitting in a shady cave high above a canyon in Utah one hot summer day enjoying the scenery. Suddenly, I realized my body fit the hollow perfectly, and saw to my surprise that the rock had been hollowed out to make a comfortable seat. All at once I was engulfed in a culture several hundred years old, re-living the life of sentries watching for approaching enemies.

These guidebooks promise the same flashes of discovery, and so far they have delivered on a couple of occasions in New York City. I can hardly wait to try out this edition in London later this year.

My favorite cooking item is my George Forman grill and everything I have tried so far comes out great. Her varied uses for chicken are most welcome to those of us on special diets or just trying to cut the fat from our diets. The ingredients are easy to assemble and instructions easy to follow. I also gave a copy of this book to my uncle in Missouri. He is a legendary griller. The back yard is his kingdom. He has enjoyed her book and has gotton some great new ideas from it. Thank you Grill Power for bringing me and my George Forman even closer than before.

This book was a huge disappointment, what fluff they filled the pages with. Most of the book is dedicated to reused recipes where she substitutes the grill for what would normally be a frying pan. Eighty percent of the book is recipes and eighty percent of the recipe info is about other things besides the grilling. That means 64 percent of the book is not about grilling!

There is very little useful info for new grill purchasers. This book is a marketing ploy for new grill buyers. There are better cookboooks out there for recipes. With them I will figure out how to substitute the grill for the frying pan, without the author's help. Even her stated qualifications as an author for this book are sad. I went through this book over the first few days I had it. Right now I'm not sure where I left it, and I don't care a bit.

In regards to the high regards; maybe it's their first cookbook?

This book has been fantastic even for an experienced griller. The recipes are excellent and the organization of the book makes it user friendly. I do not find the "fluff" I have found in many pop cook books and absolutely don't know where the sour grapes vindictive reviewer below is coming from.

I have done lots of outdoor and indoor grilling and have used two kinds of indoor grills and found Grillpower very helpful on both types. I commend the author and look forward to other books down the pike. I concur with all the other positive reviewers. Five stars on this one.
