Ok, I will tell you the very best story was written by Charlaine Harris "Tacky", this was a great story (fun too). Then, second place is take by two, "Charmed by the Moon", Lori Handeland and "Something Borrowed" by Jim Butcher. Third place, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Susan Krinard. All were very good stories and all these authors I read alot. The rest, sad to say, not so good, at all. But, I would buy the book just for the above mentioned. I think everyone would agree when buying a "collection" of short stories this is always the case, some good and some not so good. No need to be disappointed, unless they all stink. So, buy it and enjoy the ones you will like best, which may not be the ones I liked the best.

Out of all the short novellas in this book, I liked may be 2-3 only. Some of the stories are too short to get into the author's world, and too brief to leave any lasting impressions. It's a good idea to read this anthology as an introduction to work of many talented authors presented in this book.
A bit uneven but fun.

My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding is a fun concept, with contributions by some wonderful writers.
It's the perfect book to toss into your bag when your reading time is restricted to waiting on line at the bank, the dentist's office, etc.
Nothing heavy here, but some good supernatural laughs.

My first cupcake recipe book and I LOVE it. The recipes are easy to follow and my chocolate cupcakes turned out to be exceedingly delicious.
The only thing missing for me personally are pictures. I love to see a picture of EACH cupcake described in the book - I think here are only 10 in total.
Still - a MUST have for any cupcake addict

I got this book a week ago and have already made 4 recipes. The first one was the banana cupcakes, which were deliciously moist and the texture of the cupcakes just made them melt in my mouth. I also tried the Kahlua cupcakes and shared with a friend who now wants me to make them everyweek. Again the result was very moist and melt in your mouth cupcakes. The other two were kids cupcakes, and of course my daughter and her friends gave them an A+. I recommend this book, the instructions are easy to follow as 1,2,3 and the results are great.

I've baked over half the recipes in the book, whether it's pumpkin, banana, very vanilla chocolate chip, mango coconut, pineapple or chocolate all the cupcakes are quick, easy and delicious.

After looking through what felt like hundreds of wedding planning books and magazines and always seeing the same ideas over and over again I finally stumbled across this particular book. It was just what I needed as my husband and I both have busy work/travel schedules and we only had two months to plan our Christmas wedding. This book really became an invaluable resource for planning the ceremony that we wanted. The book contains hundreds of quotes from a variety of both religious and secular/literary sources, along with sample programs, hundreds of song lists, and explanations of different cultural wedding traditions. With our limited time, this book became our single most used reference and helped us create the unique and personal wedding that we both wanted.

This book is full of your typical wedding songs and poems, but there are also a good selection of modern/non-traditional ideas. The examples of vows and rituals were a nice inclusion for those wanting a starting point for creating their own unique wedding activities.

I found this book a little dissapointing. Not much to it. It's not all inclusive like it would lead you to believe. I was looking to design a wedding ceremony. Instead of focusing in depth on one topic it has a more broad overview of every topic. I would of preferred more options and explanations

I tend to find authors I like and then read everything I can get my hands on that they have written. I found a website that had authors recomending other authors. Julia Quinn was highly recommended by some writer. I got hooked on Julia's books. Her books are entertaining, witty, and addicting. Her characters are lovable and memorable. I really enjoy finding them again in short stories or another seiries.
This book in particular I loved because it was about the last un-married Bridgerton. If you read the Bridgerton series in order you get to watch Gregory grow up. After reading the negative post I went back and re-read the book. I still love it. Gregory is wonderful and flawed and sweet and warm. Julia knows how to create characters who come alive.
Julia ROCKS and I can't wait for whatever she gives us next.
An avid reader,
L.A.M.

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews on this one. Wow wow wow. I just thought this was fun and exciting and extremely romantic. Escapist reading at its finest.
Yes, it took the hero some time to figure out he loved Lucy (men can be so stupid). But once he reached that moment...Boy, did he fall hard. I was totally swept up in Gregory's love for Lucy. And so happy for Lucy, who never believed she would be loved in that way.
This one was a lot of fun...check it out.

I've really enjoyed Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series and will miss them. I actually had a lot of fun reading this novel, but as a romance it is ultimately a failure. The hero (Gregory) spent more than half the novel in love with a woman who is not the heroine. When Gregory finally realizes that he actually loves Lucy (heroine) I thought the story would finally take off, but it was not to be as it is derailed by a completely unbelievable ending. And the epilogue was just absurd. There were some lovely scenes in the novel, but it just doesn't work overall.

Well crafted illustrations and a simple, yet descriptive story line tells the tale of a young man and his duties, concerns, and adventures while being a ring bearer. My "little men" (we had two ring bearers) requested this read over and over in anticipation of their role in our big day. Highly recommended and appropriate for children ages 2-8.

I found this at the library for my 2.5-year-old son simply as an intro to what a wedding is, as we'll be going to one soon. It doesn't talk about the child actually being the ring bearer, which is good in our case. It does focus some on the ring bearer, but shows the overall wedding as well with pictures of the bride groom, wedding guests, etc. It's a pretty simple book & is great for our purposes!

A very good wedding planner, the 3-hole puch style is very practical and comfortable to use. It is a very well organized book with a lot of useful tips, timelines, checklists, etc.
It covers every aspect in the long way to these remarkable days. The different chapters include: Getting Started, Guests and invitations, Stationery, Fashion & Beauty, Ceremony, Reception, Flowers, Music, Photography and up to the Honeymoon.
In all fairness, few sections needed a little more attention like the reception.
The flower section is by far the best and the most detailed section, with a lot of color photos of flowers.
Meh, good enough...

Mine arrived broken already. The 3 ring binder part had completely separated from the top so the binding could just swing right out. My fiance did some surgery and fixed it using a brad and it's been fine (and hardly noticeablely different) since. But for $20+ it'd be nice if it didn't arrive needing surgery.

I liked this book because it didn't have too much "filler" - folders are nice. I'm not the type of bride who needs a book to tell me what to do - so the pages are nice suggestions, but I was more looking for a place to keep all of my ideas.
The binder did break about 2 weeks after I bought it - basically the top piece came detatched but my fiance sort of monkey wrenched it together and it's held since.

This review is written with a heavy heart. I am devoted to Martha Stewart products. This product does not meet the high standards that are typical of the brand. The Planner arrived and upon opening we found the center post was not attached to the cover. The Planner was returned and a new one was sent. Sadly the same problem was observed before the shrink wrap was removed. That one was returned as well. We will go to a brick and mortar store to find a useable Planner.

I ordered this planner as a gift for my best girlfriend who recently got engaged. A few reviews mentioned that the materials are excellent, but the binder arrived broken. I thought, hey that would never happen to me, those people are crazy. Um, it arrived broken. I would recommend purchasing this planner as the materials are great, but be prepared to purchase a new binder and transfew the materials. This binder is very un-Martha-like.

Each section of this book is categorized by colors, starting with white, ivory and cream, then yellow, then peach and orange, then red, then pink, then lilac and purple, and finally mixed and unusual. I knew my colors right off the bat but I still was inspired by every page. It's only real flaw is it's size, which once you get it and look through it, doesn't create that much of an issue. Not only does it give you flower ideas but also a variety of ways to create a handle and tie the bouquet. A good book for a bride who is doing all the arranging, like I am, or just brainstorming ideas with her florist.

As a professional special event florist who specializes in weddings, this is another book I keep in my consultation room for brides to browse and reference. I'm partial to design books that contain a lot of photos so this one earns high marks from me, but the drawbacks are it's size (small, which means the photos are also small) and that it's a paperback so it doesn't hold up to wear and repeat usage like a hardbound book. Most of the designs are current and contemporary, which is nice after seeing so many outdated wedding design books from the 80's and 90's still on bookstore shelves, but some of the designs lack "that certain something" that make the bouquets really stand out and personalized to the bride. As a designer I'm never super excited about anything cookie-cutter (see cover photo as an example) because it can easily become a crutch for clients who aren't confident making floral selections and also a crutch for florists who don't want to spend the quality time needed for a proper consultation. However, if used as an initial reference for size, shape, and to build designs from, the book will certainly provide that and a bit more. Based on what I've observed from brides browsing and using this book during consultations at my location, easy-to-please brides usually find a few styles in the book that they like, but fussier brides browse through the book quickly (rarely stopping on any one style) and move on to other books. It is a nice little book for the price though -- quality photography and an overall good value.

My fiance and I (the Engaged Groom) are planning our wedding, and have less time than you'd normally have to make all our arrangements. We are also trying to be budget concious and not go overboard. So far there is nothing a-typical about our wedding. The Engaged Groom has been so very helpful of providing a good overview of what needs to be done, when, and how. I thought I had all the answers until I read this book. I feel better prepared now and have a much better grasp on where we can cut corners, and the do's and don'ts of the wedding world....but primarily the message is, make sure you have the wedding YOU want, and not the wedding everyone TELLS YOU you need.....thanks Doug Gordon, your book is a life-saver.

All of the other books for grooms are condescending, treat the groom like he's an idiot, or warn him about his "bridezilla". This one's the antithesis of all of that, and actually provides good information for the groom with a question about any part of the wedding. It doesn't need to be read cover-to-cover, and provides a positive spin on handling tough situations.
Pracitcal AND funny, a good mix

This book has a lot of good practical advice, like when to get a marriage license. For someone getting married out of state, this was very helpful. I also thought some of the money-saving tips were unique and not your standard fare. There was a part on dealing with problem guests that has been very helpful since we've had to deal with a lot of these types of people and as the groom I usually have to smoothe over a few egos and play peacemaker. To top it off, there's a great section about bachelor parties goes beyond other books and talks about how people really feel about strip clubs, both men and women.
To keep it interesting Gordon puts in a lot of funny stuff, like lists of songs that are inappropriate to play at a wedding and an answer to the question of whether or not throwing rice at a wedding is harmul to birds. (It's not, but his explanation is really amusing and well written.)
I got this as a gift and thought it was really helpful, one source for all of my questions. Four months to go before my wedding and there's still a lot I learned.

I gave this to my future son-in-law so he wouldn't feel so left out, but more importantly, so his mother would realize it's my daughter's wedding not hers. Worked both ways. I haven't read it, but so far, so good.
Helpful, funny, a great read for any guy

My bride gave me this even though I didn't think I'd help out too much. But I had a few questions and this really helped. It was funny, which helped, since any book that takes things too seriously wouldn't work for me. I had questions about the budget, since I was paying for somethings and trying to figure out who would pay for the rest, and I also had questions about invitations, who to invite, etc. This worked for me. I will pass it on to friends when they get married.

Another great resource from Bill Hurter. I purchased it for the tips on on-camera flash, and found a wealth of information not only on that topic, but on natural lights portraits as well.
Excellent book. Great content.

Another easy reading book by Bill Hurter delves into the anatomy of light and the factors that affect it. Tools such as reflectors, flashes and strobes and their part in controlling light are discussed. Along with various lighting environments, techniques for using equipment and existing light to obtain images that are natural in appearance are also covered in detail. This book arms the reader with the knowledge to make the most out of every scene.

This is a great crash course on available lighting. Bill does not bore the reader with superfluous information but gives you very practical, up to date, information on how to maximize the use of ambient light. Lots of images and example that clarify application.
He is able to make complex concept into easily understood one. But most of all, he helps you understand lighting concepts in a way you can apply them right away.
I highly recommend it to any beginning photographer as well as a great quick reference for seasoned photographers.

However this is her book with the least depth and length, it is still not bad for her first run at writing. It has to start somewhere and only get better from there. =] You gotta love this one, simply because it is a Dessen. <3 If for no other reason, get this book just to know how far Dessen's writing really has come...

Hindsight isn't always 20/20, especially when you don't have all the facts. That's Haven's problem in That Summer. Life for Haven isn't exactly easy, but more to the point she's going through more than enough changes. She keeps growing, her sister is getting married, her father is remarrying, leaving her confused in a turbulent summer nothing like the ones before.
Then enters Sumner, the guy that made life so great. Sumner and her sister seemed to have it all, and all seemed brighter with Sumner in their lives. Ashley and Haven got along great, her parents were still together...everything was perfect. So unlike what she's having to put up with now.
The thing about this story is the way everything can seem so black and white sometimes, even when it's always a varying shade of gray. I understand how upset Haven is, as I couldn't begin to understand that sort of stress, but her expectations she places on Sumner -- Ashley's old boyfriend -- are unrealistic. What does she want him to do, exactly? I have a feeling Haven wouldn't know the answer to that question, which is probably the point.
The end of this story speeds up unexpectedly, slamming the door shut on a relatively quiet book. It's definitely a first novel, with weaknesses abound, but there are significant points in the narrative, mostly between Haven and her family, that tell of future strengths. Sarah Dessen only gets better from here.

I haven't read the book or seen the movie. All I know is that the soundtrack to the movie version of this amazing and worth looking for. It's always made me look for the movie. If the book is anything like the soundtrack it's gotta be great. A good introduction to New Wave from the late 70's. Here's the track listing. As far as I know it's never been released on CD.

I'm not gonna say I didn't like it because it was an enjoyable read but not much going on. From pretty much the start you know what happens and it pretty much just follows Haven's life. I've read many of Dessen's books and she can write alot better than she did in this book!
