Its Not Always The Men

I read this book in one day. We always hear about women being pressured by men, and women fighting to resist temptation. But in some cases its not always the men doing the pressuring...

I Recommend This Book!

Although there were times when the character Zoe worked my LAST nerve, I truly enjoyed this book. I liked the fact that it was based upon having faith and a true and loving relationship with the Lord. I am a Christian woman, who loves the Lord, and I know that eventhough He is my All-In-All, there will be trials and tribulations and many mighty storms. But this book tells us that through it all, He is there, and if we just give it all to Him, every thing will be all right. Go Jesus!!! You are definitely THE MAN! (Romans 8:28... And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.) Amen!

Okay Christian Fiction

This is my first Christian Fiction novel and I have to admit it was not that bad. Stephanie does have some writing skills which serve her well. The storyline was interesting and I finished the book, although admittedly, I skipped pages at a time to get to the good stuff.

There were two main problems with this book. First, a romance novel is generally good if you have good sex, good drama, and/or non-romance-plot. Since this is Christian Fiction, the romance was not enough to keep the book going. Although, the few romance scenes did a great job of building you up to ultimately let you down :(

My second issue with this book is the dialogue between a Chase and Zoe. I understand Chase is a very religious man but there are very few young people who will, in every day conversation, respond to a comment with, "That was your past, don't you know you have been washed by the blood of Jesus? He has forgiven all your sins?". Let's just cut-the-madness, and be real! I think the book had a little too many conversations that went this way. Yes, there are some christians who speak *Jesus-talk* any time they open there mouths. But the majority of us are regular talking joe's...we don't have to talk *holy* to be christian. I am not saying anything is wrong with this, but I think Stephanie used her book to try to teach the word through some of the dialogue. I understand this is her first such novel for adults, and thus, I am hoping she can rise above the simple *tell me* in her novels, to *show me through a story*.

All-in-all this is a very nice story, and young Christians (both in their walk with Christ and 21 and under) should find this book an entertaining read. Since the sex scenes are non-existent, and there is very little else besides the question of 'will they or wont they make it work?', to entice you into finishing the book, I caution adult romance readers to steer clear, you will be dissappointed. Otherwise, you should keep a look out for Stephanie Perry Moore's next adult novel. I am sure she will improve!

I couldn't relate to these characters. They were so dry and lacked substance. Zoe was too needy and just couldn't seem to get it together for more than half of the book. I didn't finish this book since I reached 3/4 of the way through and it still did not take off. Not this author's best work.

This is one of those books you grab as you sit in your favorite chair with your coziest throw blanket wrapped around you and a nice hot cup of cocoa. The stories are short and pleasant. This is one you will want to pass around and share. Filled with all the charm and nostalgia of a great holiday reader.

Greed will save my irresponsible brother!

This is a cute little romp about a couple who are thrown together by the death of an aunt. The aunt's will stipulates that the nephew and companion must marry each other to inherit. The one who does not show up to the wedding inherits nothing.

Normally, the sweet companion would have handed the money over, but she must save her brother from himself. He has become a smuggler underground to hide from the loans sharks that covered his gambling debts. As he is risking his life daily, the heroine decides to risk going up against the formidable lord in order to make him cry off so she can pay her brother's debts. The lord in question, however, is a worthy opponent, and hijinks and romance ensue...

Fortunately, this story features likable characters, as the plot (and the heroine's and her brother's repentance for their greedy ways) seems a bit sketchy, improbable and formulaic.

Enjoy!

This book was predictable but most bodice rippers are predictable; after all, if the hero and heroine didn't fall in love it wouldn't be much of a love story. This is one of those little books that you can finish in one sitting. Even though Molly and Hart started out at loggerheads, they were both very likeable characters and I wanted to see what would cause them to resolve their differences. When Molly was kidnapped and Hart was injured trying to rescue her, I thought, "Yep. That'll do it!" I see that Ms. Raleigh has written a lot of books and I have added her to my list of authors whose books I will be searching for. It wasn't "War and Peace" but I greatly enjoyed this book!

I confess - I had never read a romance novel before this one! Julia London's excellent writing and humor now have me hooked. Fast-paced, exciting, and, above all, an original and well thought out story line kept me turning the pages. Yes, it was smoking hot, and very entertaining. One of the most impressive aspects of Julia London's writing is her wit! I read a quote one time (from a source I can not remember -sorry!) that said "the funniest person in the room is probably the most intelligent person in the room". Keep that in mind if you are looking for a romance novel that not only has sex and humor done well, but well "fleshed out" characters that move the plot forward in a very believable manner. Loved it! And I will definitely read more of Julia London's books.

Eli and Marnie smoke up the pages.

So far my favorite Julua London novel. I read this book in a day and it left me with a smile on my face. The basic story is Marnie is a Wedding Planner who gets hired by Thrillseekers Anonymous to plan a big secret hollywood wedding. Marnie has to work with Eli a partner of Thrillseekers Anonymous and sparks fly. It is great mix of romance, crazy hollywood people and Alpha-males.

The author gave me no reason to admire or like Marnie. She kept doing things that made me dislike her. I didn't like her mother or the bookclub ladies. The major romantic dilemma was that Eli was afraid of commitment. I never laughed or was surprised.

Never a dull page. Highly recommended!

This was a really fun, sexy and fast paced romance novel. The story is about Marnie and Eli, a wedding coordinator and a stunt man turned business man, who at first seam like the most unlikely couple. They quickly butt heads, he is too bossy and she too chatty. These two end up coordinating a wedding for a spoiled rotten famous Hollywood couple, and ultimately end up stranded on top of a Colorado mountain living like contestants on a Survivor game. Not too far into the story we begin to learn more about our Hero and Heroine, and you start to see what a perfect fit they are really are for each other. The build up of passion and attraction between them was believable and written very well. Since he is her new boss, the dynamics of their relationship takes some fun turns. He is also getting over being jilted at the alter one year earlier, a pain he never believed he would recover from. Marnie is quite talkative, but never to an annoying level. She is also beautiful, easy going, bright, funny, and laughs a lot. She rarely complains, always willing to try, and overall impresses the heck out of Eli. Eli quickly realizes she is a joy to be around, and he begins to open up to her but his new feelings confuse him. He finds himself quite attracted to her, but he had sworn off marriage and relationships. He is a very charming and sexy hero, and the chemistry between these two is just great. I like how she has the gumption to speak her mind and address the situation at hand. Overall, a great romance novel with a fun story. Highly recommended.

London peeks behind the scenes of an A-List wedding - Survivor style

Review Date: 2006-07-24
The series follows the partners in Thrillseekers Anonymous (TA), a group of friends who do stunt work and extreme adventure trips. In Wedding Survivor the main TA member is Eli. Eli had been engaged to a Hollywood starlet who dumped him at the alter for an actor she thought could further her career more than Eli could. His romantic interest is Marnie, an out-of-work dot-com computer person with a shopping addiction. Marnie is living at home with her parents trying to make ends meet and took a wedding planning class. TA has been hired to plan an A-List extreme wedding and needs an unknown wedding planner to keep the wedding a secret affair. Eli is Marnie's primary contact with TA and constantly frustrates Marnie with his anti-wedding/anti-starlet attitude. They have instant chemistry and try to keep it on an "informal" basis. The funniest part of the book is when the A-list couple, Eli, Marnie, and a chef get abandoned in the extreme location the day of the wedding (that can't take place because the minister and the guests can't get in). Eli develops challenges for perks (a bath, a bed, etc.). The chemistry between the two main characters is good and the conflict between the two big stars is entertaining. A great summer read.

Shallow coverage - Maybe okay for beginners

Review Date: 2007-09-16
I have to agree with R. Chester's review. I found the book to be very shallow, almost like the authors were intentionally holding back information so as to not arm their competitors. For example, on page 92, under the heading of PHOTOSHOP TECHNIQUE, there is an interesting picture of a bride, groom and a young child standing on a bridge. Very nice, but no technique is supplied. The authors refer you to page 117 for more on this image but alas, no technique there either.

I bought the book to generate some ideas as I'm new to portrait post processing. I learned a little about vignettes, converting to black and white, selective coloring, all very basic stuff. I found better info by doing a search on the web and perusing tutorial sites.

Rick and Deborah Ferro have created a wonderful book showing how to best utilize Adobe Photoshop as a wedding photographer. Being practicing wedding photographers, they were able to highlight the important aspects of this complicated program and leave out some applications that you would never use.

As with all of their books, the images are first class and inspirational. It is well worth the money

I just received this book, I am not a photographer, but a Bride to be and am interested in making my own wedding album. I have access to PHOTOSHOP through my work and that was one of the reasons why I bought this book. And I am NOT regretting it one bid. Detailed in every way, it shows one how to exactly apply what adjustments to what, as well as explains the befores, durings and afters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn professional tricks for photoshop & of course photography and even for ppl that are getting married like myself, that have access to photoshop and would like to learn how to make a professional wedding album themselves.

This book is HORRIBLE and NOT for any child under the age of 16, good grief the amount of adult content in this book is sickening. The pictures alone will give nightmares. I'm not sure what the other people who gave this book 5 stars are exposing their children too but I would never read this book to my children, we checked it out at the library and I saw the pictures and wondered so I read the book myself and it's wretched. If I could have given it no stars I would have!!

Totally inappropriate for kids!

Miss Spider is a favorite with my three year old daughter. She loves the show as well as the books. However, this is a book I will never allow her to have again. This book, written in verse, is not only hard for little ones to understand, it is completely inappropriate. This story line, while very close to the shows version of the story is much darker and teaches the wrong lesson. Miss Spider is in love with "Holly" a small and shy spider who is said to be weak and unacceptable for a mate by Miss Spider's friend and is even called a "Panty waist". Spiderus Reeves, a larger, more intimidating spider speaks of the ways that he will woo Miss Spider from Holly and get her in "the mood". This story does not at all contain the kind of moral lessons that I feel most parents are trying to teach their children. Shame on David Kirk for taking such a normally captivating, beautiful series of books and shows and making it so adult like in content that our children can no longer enjoy Miss Spider.

This book MIGHT not be suitable for little kids. I would share it with my own, but each parent should read this book for him/herself first to make that decision, before sharing it with the little ones.

Even if you think the topic is a little too sensitive for your kids at this time, I recommend holding onto it until your little ones are ready -- or just buying a copy for yoursef. Because this book is excellent in all regards. It is well written, the plot is clear and funny, and the illustrations are...well, absolutely stunning. I picked this book up for myself. Once in a while, I will sit down, and literally put my fingers on the pictures. They are works of art. I like to read sections aloud, because the rhyming structure is so pleasing to the tongue.

There are very few children's books that still hold my attention. In fact, I would say that this book is a keeper for all ages. And when you decide your little one is old enough for the contents, I am sure he/she/they will delight in this superb book.

I fell in love with the art work of the Miss Spider books and bought a few for my son. When we saw this book at the library I figured it was another good book in the series. I was wrong. The content of this book is definately not aimed at children. It hints at intimacy that young children don't need to be exposed to and some of the pictures are rather scary. I stopped halfway through the book, noticing some of the pictures. They could very likely give a child nightmares. Children do not need to be exposed to this content and violence depicted in the story. Let's keep them young a little while longer yet please.

This gorgeously illustrated book is only a medium favorite with the kids, but its MY favorite to read aloud.
The illustrations are intricate, gorgeous and as gently satirical and rich as the text. The children can certainly enjoy the basic story of Miss Spider's search for a suitable mate, but only adults will appreciate the tongue in cheek humor as the insect world is revealed to have many social similarities with our own. If the insect world had a "Jane Austen" it would be Miss Spider.
There is a happy ending as usual with children's stories, but there was one page of conflict that the girls (at ages 6 & 7) found "scary"- I was initially surprised, but its true that all the kids I've read this to (ages 5-8) found the big dramatic moment (Miss Spider's suitor turns out to be a little too pushy) a little intense.
The dashing (yet meek and mild) hero soon sets things right, however and the kids all enjoy the pictures of the wedding preparations. This one is not for easily frightened kids, although I originally thought it was unlikely to frighten anyone.

This book is really for adults to enjoy on an entirely different level while children are entertained by the beautiful pictures and happy resolution.
