This is my first Dyanne Davis book and I will be reading her work again. This storyline made me so envy of the relationship of Keefe and Mia who loved her so much to make sure she was always safe in life. A excellent read regarding brother and sister love as well as a romantic storyline for the both of them....Maybe awkward, but very romantic. I love the tasteful way she developed the sex scenes.

Did not hold my interest

I started reading this a few days ago, and picked it up again today to read on the way home. I had been considering purchasing it, but I'm glad I checked it out from my library first. The Wedding Gown really didn't hold my interest. A few chapters in, I could see where it was going and what would eventually happen, so I started skimming through until I got to the back. I prefer intriguing stories when I read romance books, and this one didn't fit the bill.

This is the first novel I've read by Mrs. Dyanne Davis and I have to say I really enjoyed this book, it was a real page turner. I read this book in 1 evening. The main and supporting characters were well developed and the dialogue flowed nicely to keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed the humor and the tension that played throughout Keefe and Ashleigh's first meeting. I also enjoyed the intense heat and passion that they couldn't seem to deny they felt for each other, despite their trust issues. Will Keefe be good enough for Ash, just being a "janitor" and is Ash really a gold-digger like Keefe believes? 'The Wedding Gown' also contains a very endearing secondary plot involving Keefe's sister, Mia and Ashleigh's ex, Damien, talk about an AWKWARD situation. The secondary plot added just the right amount of drama and intrigue to an already interesting plot without taking away from the main characters. Can't wait to read more from Mrs. Davis.

I really loved this book, it was a real page turner. I was not able to put this book down. This book had some really good characters in it.My favorite characters was Keefe and Ashleigh. Those two were really funny from the beginning when they met. Keefe and Ashleigh had me up all night wanting to know what happens with them next.

My favorite part of this book was, the whole thing with Keefe and his sister Mia Black. They were so attached to eathother that they kept eachother from findning love. It was because of there past history with their mother and Keefe's exgirlfriend who took all his money and left him. That was the one person his sister Mia had really liked and trusted until she did what she did to Keefe.

When Keefe met Ashleigh all he thought about was that she is another gold digger after his money when she finds out the truth about him. Keefe and Mia didn't trust anyone, so when their mother came to visit them she had told them they love eachother so much and they would do anything for eachother. Also that they are afraid to loose eachother. Keefe and Mia Black had realize their mother was telling the truth.

Now to find out if Keefe falls inlove with Ashleigh or does he still think of her as a gold digger, You must go get a copy of this book. Trust me you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance with some laughter to it.

Thank You,
Linda.H.

When I first started reading Lone Star Wedding I was thinking good girl- bad guy. Wrong. This book had twist and turns that I didn't see coming. As I finished the book all I could think was "That was a great story-I can't wait until the next book".

wonderfully endearing tale!

After his fiancé ran off with the events assistant, billionaire Tom McFarlane is saddled with the expenses incurred planning for the wedding. Rather than simply pay the bill and get it out of the way, he insists on going over every charge on the bill with the events manager - and even insists on receiving as many of the things he's paid for as possible.

Events manager Sylvie Smith can't understand why Tom feels the need to go over every single expense his fiancé authorized. She hasn't had the best of luck with love either but certainly never would have dragged out every pain-filled moment of being dumped.

Sylvie does as Tom requests and gathers the `expensive but completely useless junk' and brings it all to his place. While they're both attracted to each other, neither of them anticipated the sheer passion that broils over and leads to an encounter they won't soon forget. That night results in a pregnancy and while Tom and Sylvie aren't a couple - and she hasn't even seen him since that night, Sylvie writes Tom a note to inform him of the pregnancy and let him know that she didn't expect anything from him.

Tom's been out of the country so he's unaware of everything that's occurred in the past several months. He certainly didn't expect to return to news that Sylvie's pregnant and according to the tabloids expected to marry her ex Jeremy Hillyer. The huge shocker though is learning that she's planning a wedding at her ancestral home, which technically belongs to him. Is he too late to win the woman he's been unable to erase from the forefront of his mind?

THE BRIDE'S BABY is Liz Fielding's fiftieth book and it's a fun witty book full of misunderstandings and heart wrenching situations. Tom and Sylvie complement each other beautifully. She's willing to accept whatever life throws at her. Tom's extremely business oriented and he's more inconvenienced then hurt by his fiance's change of heart. I was so caught up in their myriad of misunderstandings and emotional turmoil that I wasn't able to put this book down and stayed up way too late reading - and don't regret a single moment of the lost shut eye.

THE BRIDE'S BABY is the first book in the A BRIDE FOR ALL SEASONS series. The other books are as follows:
SAYING YES TO THE MILLIONAIRE by Fiona Harper (June 2008)
THE MILLIONAIRE'S PROPOSAL by Trish Wylie (September 2008)
MARRY-ME CHRISTMAS by Shirley Jump (December 2008)

5+ Stars: A romance that sparkles right off the pages into the heart!

Liz Fielding's THE BRIDE'S BABY is a short romance that moves the heart with smiles, laughter, tenderness and emotion. Events manager Sylvie Smith's friend Candy left her friend with one huge mess! First she roped Sylvie into doing the planning for her wedding to the rich, powerful and handsome Tom McFarlane and then she walks out on the groom, the same groom who is now going over each event detail cost, line by line, with eyes glaring. Glares turn into sparks, an electric chemistry that neither Sylvie nor Tom can resist.

Now months later, Celebrity magazine comes to her with a proposition to profile her company, as company that has planned some of the most talked about weddings. Design the wedding of dreams and let readers catch a glimpse of what she herself would choose. With a chance to promote all the local Wedding Fayre exhibitors with the benefits going to charity, Sylvie has others counting on her. Just when Sylvie thought she had put the past behind her, her worst nightmare comes true! Standing in her ancestral home, in walks the new owner --- Tom McFarlane to overlook the events.... no way will he not notice that Sylvie is pregnant! Sylvie might be able to design a perfect wedding for Celebrity magazine but what is a wedding without a groom? Can true love and serendipity provide what the best wedding planning cannot? Can broken hearts find love beyond even their wildest dreams?

THE BRIDE'S BABY hooks the reader in from the first paragraph and never lets go. Liz Fielding's characterization and dynamic descriptions place the reader right there, next to Sylvie as she goes down the failed wedding receipt check list. Sylvie is a spunky, intelligent heroine with a heart of gold. The hero Tom is a powerful successful businessman, an Alpha male with a delightful wounded soul mix. From the beginning, the reader has empathy for him. This man knows how to really move a woman, body, heart and soul.

THE BRIDE'S BABY writing sparkles with emotion and romance. Liz Fielding writes descriptions with beauty and precision. The reader easily visualizes the scenes and the emotions through the imagery itself. The decisive action of an article of clothing or a certain color reappearing make the story vibrant and alive. Liz Fielding writes memorable moments and action scenes packed with the perfect mix of concrete description and imagery that stay in the memory long after the reader places the book on a bookshelf.

The plot of THE BRIDE'S BABY moves smoothly from energetic romantic conflict to moments of powerful chemistry between the hero and heroine, from conflict to heartwarming tenderness, with several wonderful surprises along the way. Heart-warming scenes in this romance reach out beyond the hero and heroine's story to the reader's heart. THE BRIDE'S BABY is a romance that a reader will want to share with friend's and family. THE BRIDE'S BABY is a wonderful short romance that awakens both the tender heart of the young girl and the deep emotions of the woman in a reader. A keeper!

I did not find the information that I was looking for in this book. It gave general information, but I was not satisfied with the 'guts' of throwing a shower. I did find another book which was more indepth (although out of courtesy I will not mention it here.) I was looking for specific ideas on a variety of things in a shower and was disappointed. Good luck with your event.

This how-to handbook is a must.

For those with little or no party-planning experience, this splendid how-to handbook is a must. One section of the book is devoted to the best way to work with party suppliers and how to find easily what you need to make your party special.

Neglected Classic

Review Date: 2006-06-23
Sammy Rice is a low level scientist working for a government ministry in London at the beginning of the Second World War, when Hitler's bombs were raining down and carpeting the city, reducing large sections to rubble, and wounding, killing and maiming thousands of ordinary citizens. Rice's life has not been an easy one, among other things he has an artifical foot which doesn't fit very well, and when the pain becomes unbearable the only thing he can do is self-medicate with a bottle of whisky, while his long suffering girlfriend Susan, also an employee at the ministry, looks on aghast when he passes out night after night.

Rice's life is further complicated by an infiniately byzantine office structure in which the hierarchy is always mysterious and invariably counterproductive. Established by Professor Mair from Oxford, who had been asked to start up a department of working scientists, Rice's ministry has come under attack by an outside council which seems to resent its autonomy. Every day is a little slice of hell.

His expertise comes in handy when all over Britain a new, and deadly sort of bomb is spotted lying on the grass lawns of Derbyshire and the rocky beaches of Bath. Children think it it's a toy, they pick it up, and kablooey! So various are the pieces of the shrapnel that forensics trying to piece the bomb back together really has no idea of what one looks like and thus no idea of how to defuse it. Then one day, two bombs are found sitting side by side on the beach, and Sammy summons up his bottle to take the ultimate test of manhood.

Balchin thus invented, way back in 1942, both the novel of forensics like CSI, and the novel of backbiting office politics, which we see in shows like OFFICE SPACE or the BBC TV comedy series THE OFFICE by Ricky Gervais. People think of Nigel Balchin as a third rate Graham Greene but he's more of a stylist than Greene, and more adventurous too. It's one of those books that gets under your skin and takes you down with it.

This book made me want to read more about the charaters involved... however that was also the weakness of it. It devoted too many page to people, places and events that didn't take place in these pages. The situations seemed a little contrived too, but for beach reading, it's okay.

Despite the book entitled 'The Bad Luck Weeding Night', I would rate this offering 5 out of 5. It keep me laughing all the way. I was delighted by the stubornness of the main characters, Nicholas and Sarah. They just seem perfect for each other. The sisters are also a delight, as they truly resemble the famous 'McBride Menaces'. This is a must buy!

Heroine lacking

Geralyn Dawson shows us once again that humor and romance do go hand in hand. She is wonderfully witty and imaginative. I also thouroughly enjoyed the return of the "McBride Menaces", who allied themselves with the newly christened "Ross Rascals" in their goal of permenantly reuniting the title couple. What I didn't like was the heroine herself. After she grew up a little she was definitely less selfish and self centered but she blamed Nick for everything from their horrid wedding night to their failed marriage up to the very end. In actuality she was the one to balme. If she had trusted her husband to get her through the uncomfortable part of the wedding night unscathed (well, mostly unscathed) she might have realized a lot sooner than she did that she actually liked sex. I mean really, how much beating to his pride can a man take? She also displayed her lack of loyalty to her husband when she didn't believe him about Susan. I could sympathize with her being young and not wanting to leave her family to a strange country and all that but how in God's name could she blame him for going?! His father had just been proclaimed dead! She acted like a bouquet of flowers and a tersly worded note at the funeral would be sufficient! I was appalled at the lack of sensativity that Mrs. Dawson displayed in her. Insensativity is supposed to be for men. Other than her the book was fun, witty, and charming.

A Real Disappointment

The plot was "Dumb". Sarah was a stupid character who lacked "character". Nick was just as boring. Not romantic or lightly sensual at all. What a waste of my eye sight, money & time.
