Old MacDonald Had a Wdding is a delightful book for Children 2 to 100. The illustrations are bright, cheerful, humorous and full of surprises. The rhyme is cute and easy for a 6 year old to read. The older children enjoy guessing the tie-ins with the standard nursery rhymes. I find children (and adults) reading this book over and over to their friends.

Whenever you want to bring a few moments of joy and wonder and laughter to a young child, give him - or give her - a copy of Old MacDonald Had a Wedding. And if you want to heighten the fun, read it aloud to the lucky listener yourself. That way you'll share in the fun and the delight this charming book can bring. I've done it that way myself a couple of times and I cherish the experience even more than the giving. I've sent copies to the children of friends and relatives in Massachusetts, New Jersey and California. The reaction has always been the same. Parents and children love the book, especially the collection of familiar guests and their surprising antics. And they love me for sending it. Give this book and they'll love you, too.

I wasn't there, but I loved the pictures.

Although I wasn't invited to the wedding, seeing the pictures and enjoying Ron,s captions was just as good...almost. It is good to share
happy occassions with family and friends...and everyone at the wedding
was a childhood friend and "fanily". What a delight.

Thank you Ron and Brian.

I even plan to read the story to the kids !

Mr. Berman has created another hit! He is a brilliant author and this
work is so engaging that all who read it will enjoy and smile all the way
to bed or naptime. The designs are so engaging you want to reach out and pet them. I am picking up a bunch for gift giving and hopefully attending a signing by the author.

So uniquely precious and funny! A keepsake to share and be remembered by

Words and pictures so caring, thoughtful, and sweet - what a kind and funny way to refresh Old MacDonald. A heirloom to treasure - but also really one of those special little gifts for anyone special to you.

My husband and I recieved the Predictionary 6 years ago and loved it. Now my sister is getting married and we had everyone at her shower fill out the questionnaires. It was a great
alternative to the usual corny shower games. Everyone loved it and my sister had a unique gift to take home with her!

A great gift to give... a great gift to recieve

Not really knowing what this was, I bought it off the shelf at a bookstore just before my wedding, almost four years ago. We had a great time filling out the booklets, and our friends and family had fun completing their questionairres. The book is sealed and put away for now... however, one questionaire did not make it in time... and on our third anniversary we caved... and opened it. We had a great time reading what my Mother-In-Law thought of us then, and how well she predicted where we might be headed (all good of course). We've since given both this and the graduate's predictionary for gifts on a few occassions. A great buy!

I received this as an engagement gift and found it to be my
favorite. I plan for me & my soon-to-be husband to fill this
out on our honeymoon. This is also a great way for friends and
family to join in on the fun.

I wish this was advertised more! Great engagement gift.

I bought this because I wanted to do my own set of predictions cards as a game at my reception (there was no dancing at my reception), and I wanted to use their ideas. These were absolutely invaluable to greating a good set of predictions cards for my guests. I'm saving the set I bought to give as a gift to another engaged couple, and it's permanently on my list as a good engagement or bridal shower gift. These time capsules things are totally fun to open on an anniversary, and it is much more personal than the signatures in a guest book you might get from each guest. It was fun to harass my guests about their outlandish predictions.

Buy this for anyone who is getting married as a fun trinket. It will definitely be appreciated for years to come.

This is a wonderful survey for an enegaged couple to share.

This book was so much fun. Inside the hard-bound package there are two soft cover books. One for you and one for your partner. Inside these books are lists of questions about what you envision your lives together to be like in the future. The questionnaire asks about everthing from kids to old age. Also included in the package are mini-surveys for you to give to the people in your lives that know and love you. The idea is that in 10, 20 and/or 30 years you both look at your own predictions and share your thoughts. Very well put together package and well worth the money.

To Keep Or Not to Keep A Secret? That is the Question...
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-03
If you don't know, Madeleine Wickham is the real name for Sophie Kinsella (pen name). Yeap, the one who wrote the highly successful Shopaholic series. Under her real name of Madeleine Wickham, she wrote several books which have more substance than the frothy ones under Sophie Kinsella. That's why she used a pen name to keep her styles of writing apart.

The Wedding Girl is one such book with much meaty substance. She must have germinated her ideas for "Can you Keep A Secret?" which she wrote later under Sophie Kinsella from this earlier book, The Wedding Girl.

Are secrets better left unearthed or are they better off exposed to those that concern you? How would it affect relationships that have formed preconceived set values and change the dynamics? Will it be the same? That is the recurring fear harboured by Milly Havill who got married for a frivolous reason 10 years ago and now has to un-do that marriage in order to marry the person she truly loves.

Familiarity breeds contempt within the family. This is the ongoing theme in the book, you think you know someone too well and you begin to perform selective memory. You only bring up characteristics that you dislike about them which becomes all too consuming for you and bury their good points fathoms deep. That is until someone from outside your immediate family brings to you a new perspective on their characters.

The author deftly handles the multitude of secrets harboured by several characters. The secrets harboured here are definitely more grounded in reality than those in "Can You Keep A Secret?".

Read it or you will miss out on a much earlier Sophie Kinsella very sophisticated story telling skills!!!

Well observerved, well told.

There can be few people whose spines do not prickle with apprehension at the moment the preacher asks: 'Does anyone know any just cause why these two should not be joined together in holy matrimony....?'
Our heroine is about to be the centre of a society wedding which will hit every front page in the land. She's marrying the son of one of the world's richest men and her mother, a social-climber extraordinaire, is fussing and list-making 24 hours a day.
Everything is set, guests are being helicoptered in, the organist is flying from Geneva, ice swans are being sculpted.....there is just one small problem. Ten years before the bride married a gay friend for immigration purposes, and never actually got a divorce! When the photographer recognises her, she is thrown into a panic and tries, in secret to "put matters right". She has less than 4 days to find and divorce a man she hasn't seen in a decade.
Madeleine Wickham knows people so well and draws them beautifully. The set-aside father, bemused by his wife's tireless efficient anxiety, the dizzy bride who somehow thought that if she didn't admit to the previous wedding it would go away, the career-girl sister who is always so in control of her life (or is she?).
You know people like this - and if you don't - the author brings them to life on the page so vividly that when you reach the last page you have the feeling you are saying goodbye to old friends.
Intertwined in this desperate dash to save face, is a sadder story of how it is still not always possible to be proud of being gay, or to accept who you really are.

A handy little Day-by-Day Calendar with and Elegant look

Review Date: 2003-09-10
A friend bought me this book as a gift and I thought it was a wonderful way to keep track of all of my day to day planning, telephone calls, meetings, etc. I normally carry around an at-a-glance planner -one of those yearly ones that you pick up at book stores, where I jot down everything ideas, phone numbers, dates for meetings . Now, for this year, I just use this calendar to keep track of everything, which is great and it's wedding related! It doesn't have alot of information on actuall wedding planning etc., but I already have a huge planner that I use for information and keeping track of papers and stuff, but it's too big to carry around EVERYWHERE. This book is just small enough where I can tuck it into my bookbag and simple enough where I can find information easily.

I think this is a great addition to any wedding planner on the market- and a wonderful gift.

A Glorified Day Planner

Review Date: 2003-08-19
I wouldn't recommend buying this "book" because it's little more than a pretty, wedding themed day planner. The planner is split into 16 different sections. Each section features a blank month-at-a-glance calendar, blank weekly pages, a blank to-do list and a blank page for notes. The book also includes a place for you to record contact information for your guests, wedding party and vendors. It's a royal pain to go through the pages of this book and fill in the dates, and there are no guidelines for what to complete when, how to schedule events, etc.

PERFECT wording for handling mom and bridesmaid problems

Review Date: 2008-06-10
As a bride to be, I picked up this book on a friend's recommendation...she said it helped her solve issues she was having with her future mother-in-law and a horrible bridesmaid. The book gave her the perfect words to get everyone in line, and she got the wedding of her dreams. My wedding is in November, and I read through this book in just two days, taking notes and *loving* the way Miss Naylor presents the great solutions and talking scripts. I've already had a big problem solved, when I used a script that Miss Naylor suggested and got one of my bridesmaids to finally send in her payment for the dress! Seriously, this book is like having a coach working for you! If you're having ANY problems with your parents, bridesmaids, guests, even your wedding experts, get your copy of this book now! You'll solve your problems in a matter of minutes, without being a Bridezilla. Thank you for another great book, Miss Naylor!

A Pleasant Neels Cinderella Love Story ... 5+ stars
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-08-20
Book Description: Romance Wasn't In Her Contract ... When Matilda Paige applies to be Dr. Henry Lowell's new receptionist, she does her best to ignore her instant attraction to him. It wouldn't do to dream of marrying the boss - especially when Henry is already engaged to the haughty Lucilla. But Matilda still thinks she'd suit Henry better ... and it looks like he might agree!

Matilda Paige realized within half an hour of her interview with the handsome Dr. Henry Lowell that she had fallen in love with him. Though Henry hired Matilda because she was plain, mousey, and would not distract him from his work Matilda was neither timid nor intimated by Henry. Matilda is sorely used and put-upon by her absent minded father and selfish, self-centered mother; but loved and treasured by villagers. While this is a Cinderella story in that Henry grows to love Matilda and rescues her from her mother, Matilda rescues Henry from his selfish girlfriend and half-lived life.

A pleasant Neels story where we see Henry and the entire village fall in love with Matilda

I have to remember where the story take place for the mother made me upset with her selfishness and telling Matilda that she was the selfish one. It help to enhance the ending. It is definitely a Cinderella story if ever there was one. I enjoyed the way Matilda worked her way in the villagers hearts and into the doctor's as well. I love Betty Neels and trying to collect every book she ever written. I look forward to reading them all.

Another sweet heart-warming romance from Betty Neels!

Description from the book back cover:

When Matilda's father retires through ill health, the family's new life in Much Winterlow is forced into reduced circumstances. To make ends meet, Matilda applies to be Dr. Henry Lovell's receptionist. She does her best to ignore the strong attraction she feels for him - dreaming of white weddings and a happy marriage is not for her - and, after all, Henry is engaged to Lucilla. But Henry won't leave the village, despite Lucilla's wish to live in London, and as he gets to know Matilda he becomes more intrigued by her ...
