Nifty Plot and Strong Characterization

This is the first book by author that I've read, and I was quite impressed. I really enjoyed the strong characters. They seem like real people, especially main characters Jude and Carol. Also, the story was compelling and well-told. There may be a couple plot holes, but fortunately the ending proved satisfying.

I was also quite pleased that there was no excessive violence or gore. In addition, the plot was believable and had no outlandish, unbelievable moments. I'm now eager to read other books in this series.

Quick, enjoyable read

I've now read about five books in this series. I like Mr. Brett's style of writing. One can actually figure out the mysteries (no red herrings thrown in). There's not alot of repeating as in other series. I highly recommend this series. They are easy to read and the characters are always likeable.

A great afternoon read

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was interesting and the characters are different. Simon Brett has created two women neighbors/friends/sleuths who completely different from one another, and I enjoy reading about them.

This book is the sort that makes one think, "gosh, I could do better than that". It's a very standard, somewhat tedious mystery where the perpetrator is obvious early on. I expected better from Simon Brett.

Audacious Marital Complications

The premise for this story is what makes it worth reading: Carole Seddon's son, Stephen, is marrying into a rather odd family. Pascale's (Gaby's) parents don't even want there to be a wedding announcement . . . and they definitely don't want to be involved in the wedding planning. Stephen has also let drop that there's a history of murder in the family.

Most authors would stop at this point by having chilled us a bit with thoughts about whom our children might marry. Simon Brett charges gleefully forward by making the wedding preparations into a murderers' playground. As a result, you'll find yourself much more emotionally involved than in the typical Fethering mystery.

The mystery itself isn't all that hard to unravel, but the book's premise will keep your attention throughout. It's a dandy way to overturn the conventions of wedding stories.

With the wedding plans taking center stage, there's less than the usual byplay and interaction between Carole and Jude. They operate pretty independently of one another in this book, in part because Jude has a depressed friend (Gita) visiting who is pressed into the investigation.

I thought that many of the wedding preparation sequences were pretty funny, especially the engagement party hosted by Gaby's parents. If you've ever felt awkward at such an event, you'll roar when you read some of these scenes.

Wedding Vow of Revenge by Lucy Monroe
Harlequin Presents # 2526 - March 2006
Bedded by Blackmail theme

Angelo's been plotting revenge for ten years on the man who drove his mother to suicide and stole his family business. Finally he's found the perfect revenge and the opportunity is now. Tara's a former supermodel who had a disastrous affair with a wealthy tycoon, the very same tycoon that ruined Angelo's mother. Now she's earned her MBA and is working for a company that Angelo owns, and when he seeks her out to praise her abilities, she's wary of his intentions.

At first Angelo pursues Tara only as a means of vengeance against his enemy. The attraction between them is intense and leads to marriage. And when his enemy tries to find Tara and tell Tara about her husband's deceit, Angelo fears he'll lose her. Angelo is definitely one of those alpha males and he's got a definite ruthless streak, however, Ms. Monroe made sure that Angelo had a strong sense of fairness and admiration for strength in others. Tara and Angelo make a wonderful couple and I'm very glad I got to read their story.

This is another hit!!

After the media circus she had been through Tara Peters decided that it will never happen again. She focused on a business career and worked hard to get where she was. Angelo Gordon was looking for revenge against the man that had taken away from him his parents. It so happen that this man was the same that got Tara in a vulnerable place. Angelo decided that he would do anything to get his revenge and protect Tara at the same time, only problem is Tara doesn't see it that way. Lucy has once again weaved a story where the characters have spunk and chemistry. Every time Angelo and Tara are in the same room the heat is enough to trigger the smoke alarm. This is a story about, betrayal, trust and love and how to conquer all the barriers that can come between a couple even if the odds are against them. It's a beautiful story of learning and conquering. Like all her books, this is a keeper.

A gem

Wedding Vow Of Revenge is another compelling, sensual tale by Lucy Monroe.

Angelo Gordon is driven to even the score with the man that destroyed his late father's company and drove his mother to take her own life. The perfect plan falls into his lap when his enemy's former lover works at one of Angelo's companies.

Tara Peters has left her life of modeling and disastrous affair behind her when she went to work for Primo Tech. Tara is currently in the management-training program and is floored when the owner Angelo Gordon asks to meet with her. What starts as an all out seduction of Tara gets complicated when Angelo gets to know Tara. Tara didn't want to fall for another powerful businessman but Angelo knocks down all her defenses. Will her love hold when she finds out the truth?

Wedding Vow Of Revenge is a wonderful story of revenge, redemption and the power of love. Lucy Monroe should be on any romance reader's auto buy list.

Sweet!

From the back: The instant Angelo Gordon sees model Tara Peters he's certain she will share his bed. But her beauty isn't the only attraction - he wants vengeance! Tara is not an easy conquest. When she pushes Angelo away he realizes he can only win her over by playing a different game. Angelo will raise the stakes and take the ultimate revenge: marriage!
Very sweet love story by Lucy Monroe with very likeable characters and sizzling chemistry.

This book shows photography from another perspective. It helped me to be more creative in my own style and gave me more ideas. Good book to have in your library.

The quality of printed photos are not brilliant in this book, but the book is a great one to remind you why you fell in love with black and white photographs. The details of weddings are highlighted here, and it is a good book to keep as a reference tool.

You've got to be kidding, this book ...

There's no doubt this book will give a different perspective but there are other books that will do the same thing, look for Bambi Cantrell or Philippe Cheng for a real wedding book. These are terrific.

I'm returning this book IMMEDIATELY!!!

What a waste of money! I read a negative review by another reader and STILL bought the book --- BIG mistake. The cover design is beautiful and that's what probably fools hundreds of people. The content is a total disaster!

There are MAYBE five good shots of over 100 featured. The author obviously knows nothing about photojournalism and very little about photography in general. Plus, her writing style is on grade school level and the photography tips are... ugh...

I feel sorry for all those brides who hired her to document their big day. I'm sure they'll have some "storytelling" to share.

I got another book by the same publisher: Amhest Media - it's also going back TODAY. Is seems like low quality is their standard.

For solid advice and excellent photography examples, choose The Art of Wedding Photography by Bambi Cantrell. The quality of the editorial is excellent, ditto for the photos.

If you still don't believe me, go ahead and buy the Barbara Box disaster book. You'll see for yourself.

Don't be fooled by the nice cover

That just happens to be the best picture you will find in this book, It rambles on and on about nothing and the pictures quickly get very very boring after seeing the fifth hand close-up, don't be fooled by the image and title, you learn very little "storytelling" here. Save your money and buy something else. This author may shoot weddings but she's a total amateur and snapshot artist. I hate this book

My daughter and I read this book together and with each page you look for the letter that it talks about. I gotta tell you there were many pages in which we were stumped! It got so that we both lost the point of the story and just looked for the letter in the illustrations. My daughter liked this book but I personally have seen better alphabet books.

This is a competent, important collection for the classical guitarist who plays weddings. It has most of the 'required' pieces, however does not include the important Canon in D(No doubt the editor is trying to send a message to the wedding crowd!). I like most of the fingerings and has some nice material that cannot be found elsewhere. As noted in the other review, a violin can easily be substituted as well. Page turns are a problem, but with some copying and taping this flaw is fixed. Highly useful and recommended.

great for a classical guitar wedding gig

this book is good because the flute part can also be played by violin, so you have some options there. It is easy to read and everything that you need. The only problem is some page turns here and there but otherwise good

The Wedding Day Mystery is about a girl named Nancy Drew and her two friends Bess and George. It's summer time and Nancy and her friends have got jobs to help a wedding planner and her sister the cook. However, for every wedding their something that has been stolen or ruined. This makes Nancy very curious, but she knows she'll figure out who's up to all of this.
My favorite part in the book is when Rafe holds up a remote control saying there's a bomb in the chapel. He wants Patti and everyone else to cooperate with him or else. So Nancy has a plan to ambush Rafe. When Nancy gave the sign Bess and George jumped on Rafe checking his pokets, and of course took the remote away from him.
This book was given to me has a birthday gift. I enjoy Nancy Drew books and would recommend this book to others to read. However, a Nancy Drew book I would really recommend is The Riddle Of The Ruby Gazelle. It's an even more exciting book.

Another One of Nancy's Great Mysteries

The Wedding Day Mystery is yet another one of Nancy Drew's excellent mysteries. This mystery is about four weddings that are ruined and Nancy, that famous detective, is trying to find the culprit. The first wedding, minor things happen like, a cake mix-up and the bride sees a ghost (the culprit). In the second wedding the brides' dress gets ripped to shreds and the gazebo falls on the bride and groom. The third wedding gets even worse the culprit goes as far as to threaten the bride and turn all the power off. In the foruth and final wedding the subject gets threwn off a little. After the culprit is caught and put in jail, the brides' ex-boyfriend kidnapps the bride and threatens the whole congregation with a bomb. I would have never guessed who the culprit was, but I'm not going to tell you who it is you'll have to find out yourself. This was a great book, of course. Nancy's mysteries are always fun and suspensful from cake mix-ups to threatening notes. Yes, I would recommend this book to you, as well as all the other Nancy Drew mysteries. I've been reading Nancy Drew's since I was in 4th grade and have not once lost interest in them, and probably never will.
