A delightful and cheering read

The pictures and words of this book mold together flawlessly, and the illustrations can provide vital information. The world setting is bright and intriguing, and the characters are lovable and distinctive. The plot is not too long, and everything ties together beautifully. It left me smiling the first time that I read it, and it's even better the second time.

Detect Clues in Gorgeous Illustrations- a unique "mystery"

Finally - Jane Yolen and Jane Dyer have done that truly rare feat. They've created a unique type story (series) that Adults and young children can enjoy together actively. This would be a delightful tale with deliciously detailed illustrations on its own. What makes this so wonderful is the placing of "illustrated clues" to the solution of the mystery (a theft at the title Wedding) throughout the illustrations. The pictures themselves are intricate and beautiful, it is a pleasure to review them over and over to spot the little details missed on the first read through. The girls liked this best at ages 5-8 but everyone, from baby Ben at age 3 to Nana at age 67 loved to participate. For a treat to pamper yourself (hopefully with a child at your side to help you spot any significant details you might miss), or as a gift to any family with young children who treasure a good read- I would recommend this book most highly. If you haven't read the original "Piggins"- be sure to put it in your shopping cart too!

I have to admit that I had never heard of Angela Thirkell, even though I enjoy English authors so very much. Someone suggested that I give her a whirl, knowing how much I enjoy Jane Austen and Miss Read, Elizabeth Cadell and DE Stevenson. I landed on this book, A Double Affair, and found myself completely absorbed in the characters from the very first. This book is almost the last in a long series, The Barsetshire series, so even though I was meeting everyone for the first time and there was gads and gads of past history I was unfamiliar with, I was not lost for context.

This woman is witty! If you are a fan of Jane Austen at all, you have just got to try this author. I found myself chuckling with her interspersed observations about her characters, as if she were sitting in a cafe watching their lives unfold before her and recording it for our enjoyment. The books are kind, there is friendship and courtesy, but there's nothing "high faluting" about them.

Now I have to go figure out which book is the first and start there. There are many many books in this series, so I should have plenty to enjoy for a good while.

Fabulous keepsake for the busy bride

I think this book is fabulous and it's the first thing I buy all my friends when they get engaged. The prompts and questions are easy to fill in and really create a fabulous keepsake. On pages that I didn't use I actually glued down paper of my own for pictures or journaling. Most of all I think that it's the easiest way to create a beautiful "scrapbook" of the beginning of your life together without excessive effort.
Most of all, it's a great way to beat the stress of wedding planning as it has you document all the wonderful thing that have brought you to this moment.

I love this book, I did a pretty good research before obtaining it. It has lots of pages to fill up, beautiful designs, spaces to stick pictures, questions easy to respond and it's very fun to read. I got married an year ago and I love going back to the book reading what I wrote before. I truly recommend it.

A Beautiful Remembrance

I received this book at my engagement, and I found it a beautiful way to keep track of memorable events throughout the process of planning my wedding. It's not a "to-do" list, but rather a way to remember all of the sweet and sentimental things that happen during this time. I just celebrated my first anniversary, and found myself flipping through the pages and remembering that time! The drawings are artfully rendered, and the quotes throughout the book bring to mind different aspects of marriage. Overall, this book was a treasure to have!

I received this journal 3 years ago as an engament gift. Today I have been married for two years and I can say is the best gift I received for my wedding. In this journal I have a record of all the details of my engament, wedding, bridal shower, rehersal dinner and honeymoon. Today I am buying for my best friend, so she can have a journal where to save all the special memories of such a beautiful time in her life.

This book is perfect for any bride-to-be. Amidst all the wedding planners, articles, and "how-to's", no other book allows you to expand your thoughts on the person you love and the events surrounding your special day. It's a great way to document your courtship, engagement, and wedding day all rolled up into one place. We look fondly to ours often!

Speaking on behalf of my wife and myself, the teachings in this book have changed our marriage. Tried and true, these lessons simply make sense. Just opening the book has afforded us the tools to work through issues with which we have struggled for years. Not a single subject is tiptoed around or left to the darkness. With the authors' wisdom and courage to speak boldly from their own experiences, the truth they have passed on is actively setting us free to honor God with every aspect of our relationship. Apart from the Song of Solomon, we have not found any other source that so accurately depicts the gift that God originally designed for marriages.

A must read for every married or about to be married couple

The authors offer REAL help to those whose cry for information from godly sources often goes unanswered. Their message of sexual freedom in marriage is not taught by the church - oh, church leaders might agree with the message, but they're not likely going to be providing these teachings without being pressed to the wall, and most people aren't willing to push that hard for answers to questions regarding such a private subject. But the Hills come to the rescue of couples who have questions and don't know where to turn for REAL answers. Often condemned by church teachings, couples let the passion drain out of their marriage and settle for ho-hum sex. This book is a great read - or listen to the CD version. This message should be preached from the pulpit (with appropriate age restrictions or holding special adult only services) to bring a godly freedom and refreshing to Christian marriages.

Thank you Hills for having the courage to tackle this taboo topic in such a godly way. I find it sad that the church too often ignores this hugely important aspect of the marriage covenant. However, we'd be kidding ourselves to think that every married couple out there has not struggled in some way in their sex life. This book presents sex the way God intended it to be: in a monogamous, heterosexual, covenant marriage with all the bells and whistles and no holds barred. I appreciate that the Hills stress purity before marriage as well as dealing with issues such as the prevalence of pornography in our society and the damage it can do to a marriage. I recommend this book to every married couple out there and those who are about to enter into a marriage relationship. You will be blessed many times over.

If Christian book stores had sexuality sections this book would be the leader of the pack. The fact that Christian bookstores do NOT have sexuality sections tells us tons about the gap the Hills are attempting to fill. The church seems to have co-opted the sex-phobia of our contemporary culture, framing sexual desire as pathology. Sexual Liberation: The Scandal of Christendom (Psychology, Religion, and Spirituality). Sex in the Bible: A New Consideration (Psychology, Religion, and Spirituality). Passionate Marriage: Keeping Love and Intimacy Alive in Committed Relationships The Hills dare to look the church straight in the eye and say "Enough of this! Sex is good! Sex is God's gift to married couples! Here's how to enjoy it!" We need more books like this one.

Excellent book for every married or engaged couple

I'm blown away by the positive impact this book has had on my marriage. Experts agree that the top issues leading to divorce are money and sex, but so few marriage counselors even address physical intimacy as a foundation of a healthy martial relationship. This book lays the groundwork for couples to understand the significance of sexuality in the marriage covenant and experience sexual involvement and fulfillment as God intended it. The writers approach what society has deemed a taboo subject with refreshing openness and candor. I wish I could buy this book for every couple I know.

Ohio Weddings was an enjoyable read. I especially liked the suspenseful Bay Hideaway (book 3). Beth Loughner did a good job setting the Bay Island scene. I'd recommend this book to Christian romance readers.

I LOVED this book! It has very interesting story lines and characters that take unusual twists. I found this book to be very enjoyable, fun reading that was hard to put down. There are three separate books included in this one volume and each story is very good. I'll definitely watch for more books by this author! I highly recommend this book!

I read Mary's Wedding the first time while sitting in my bathtub (where I tend to do much of my reading), and I got so engrossed, the water got cold because I couldn't put it down. This is truly one of the most amazing plays I have ever read. Beautiful imagery, extremely touching story (I was also a sobbing mess by the end of it), challenging characters. I HIGHLY recommend this play. Words can't describe how much I like it.

This is not a very active or intense drama, mostly a memory play. Although it is well-written, unfortunately, it's not going down as one of my favorites.
