I am Greek, so I may be prejudiced, but I find this to be a great book that could be stacked up against the best novels in the world. It is a first person "rant", more in the post-modern mode than the modern tradition. The woman is married 3 times, but we know little about the spouses. Men are largely irrelevent. The book focuses on the woman and her friend (whose son is the 3rd ghambro). There is a third character who receives some attention: the friend's other son who is perpetually in trouble and can't even keep his mouth shut when he is on trial (for robbery, I think). It covers ww2 and the Greek civil war. It stretches form and the use of language. As far as I can tell, it is well known in Greece, but I have only recently become aware of it.

I was extremely disappointed when I attempted to use this planner to organize my wedding. I received it as a gift and would like to pass it on to someone else for their use, however I know of no one who would want the headache of trying to use it. It simply had very little room to hold the necessary paperwork and wasted too much paper on the guest list. The photos seemed to be from the 70s and there weren't enough dividers to realistically organize even a bridal shower!

Really good book!

I agree that some of the photos are dated, but the content of the book remains current and extremely helpful. Being a published author myself, I know how hard it is to make editorial changes, so don't discount the book just because it has dated photos. There were many things I might have forgotten if I hadn't written them in my planner -- just the kind of little things that might ruin a perfect wedding day! No wedding planner book will have it all -- this one has the most.

Great Memory Book!

Ok - so not all of us can have a "Martha" type wedding... However, a lot of her ideas were extremely helpful in that they helped me decide what I did and did not want for our wedding. It also helped me stay completely organized; I could go back to my Planner and see what someone quoted me, or when payment was due on anything. This book compliments her "Weddings" book, which also has great recipes in it. I have also given this book to my girlfriends who are getting married -- they love it too. Buy it!

Great for ideas!

Although I was not having the "traditional" wedding, Martha Stewart's Wedding Planner was a great help! My mother used a wedding planner book, and this was the best one we could find. Some of the items were not applicable, but the basic ideas were, and it really helped me stay organized. No pockets in ANY wedding planner book would be big enough for all quotes, so don't be turned off by that. My mother and I had a great time filling out the pages -- I really liked the book. I suggest you buy it even if you're having a wedding at home...because you'll have all those memories in that special book of your special day.

Not what you would expect from Martha

I bought this wedding planner as soon as I started planning my wedding coming this September. I thought, due to Martha always seeming so organized, that her planner would be a good choice. I was terribly disappointed. The pictures are from the eighties, there is not enough room in the pockets (mine is bulging at the seams), and there is not enough room to write in your entire bridal party. Also, I wish there was a calendar in the standard format. There is only one that goes line by line for six months before. I had to staple one of those cards from Hallmark with a calendar on in the inside. I am here now to shop for a new planner. Please, save your money and don't buy this!

I bought this book almost 5 years ago for my wedding. I chose it for two reasons: 1) a friend of mine who had gotten married 5 years prior had the same book and I used it to reference for my wedding 2) I loved the calendar in the front, I marked appointments and made lists of what to get done in that month. I am nowing buying it for my best friend as an engagement gift as she gets married this year.

This wedding planner has more than I imagined for a planner. If you're like me and like to use lists and keep everything organized, you'll like this book. The ring binder makes it easy to copy pages and add things. I am not even engaged yet but am heading that direction, so I've already started planning a little bit. I first saw Your Perfect Wedding Planner at Borders. My boyfriend and I sat down and looked through it together for a long time. Later I decided to buy it from Amazon for cheaper than the retail. The book is beautiful, and I know it will be very helpful for me. It is sure to be a keepsake after my wedding. I recommend it to anyone who wants her wedding planning as stress-free as possible. However, if you are daunted by lists, budgets, and much information in one place, this book may not be for you. My sister looked at it and said it overwhelms her. To her it is more like homework. To me, it looks exciting and enjoyable. It is so thorough that it eases my mind of forgetting things. Go to the store and look at it first. Make sure that it is right for you before you buy it online.

great for the unorganized!

This book has already come in handy, the only thing that i did was i bought 3 ring lined paper to put in the binder so that i can jot my own notes down as well as some clear pocket pages to put in papers/pictures that i want to make sure i don't lose. The lists and tips were great!

I PURCHASED THIS BOOK FOR MY FUTURE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AND I READ IT FIRST, BUT THE ONE PROBLEM WAS THE BRIDE FORGOT TO READ IT... IT IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK, BUT THE BRIDE SHOULD READ IT AND NOT THE FUTURE MOTHER-IN-LAW.... YOU HAVE HOLDERS FOR YOUR KEEPSAKES, PLACES FOR PICTURES.. THIS LITTLE BOOK HAS QUITE A BIT INSIDE... RECOMMEND HIGHLY FOR THE BRIDE TO BE..

Not enough space for additions

I thought spiral bound meant I could add my own pages. That was important to me since I'm doing my guest list online, etc. But that's not true, and the pockets are very small, you couldn't add more than a few things. I'm going to return it and look for a three-ring binder style, or perhaps just buy a three-ring binder where I can add my own clippings.

I bought this book for my wife's birthday which was in May. She loves to read all of Doris Kerns Goodwin works. The book was in excellent shape just like it came off the shelf. The shipping was very fast and within reason. I will buy more books from Amazon and your reccomended suppliers.
Thank You, William D. English

Beautiful photographs of family weddings. Nice of the Kennedy family to share the photo's of their private moments.Obviously there are 3 photographers who do their weddings and they had permission to run these photos. One of the photographers was Jay Mulvaney and another man called Mr. Reggie took JFK JR and Carolyn's pictures in addition to Arnold and Maria's pictures and the reason I would imagine he is so discreet as his sister is the second wife of Ted Kennedy, Victoria Reggie.)These photographers would make a small fortune if they ever released pictures not previously seen. It would be nice to see more than one of John and Carolyn's wedding, but I guess that is up to the Kennedy's and the Bessette's and they would have to be in agreement. Knowing how much Caroline Kennedy hates the press I doubt it will ever happen.

One of my all-time favorite books!

Although rather voyeuristic in its concept, this book is a lovely scrapbook of the nuptials of America's most famous political family.

The photographs are poignant and artful, and the text, while syncophantic, is illuminating with all sorts of wedding minutiae.

The only error I've found in the book is the omission of Robin Lawford in the family tree at the front of the book; all other Kennedy cousins are present in the tree, but Robin must have flown the coop.

You'll enjoy this book, if such books are your sort of thing.

A joyous book, loving, gorgeous and full of charm

I loved this wonderful collection of stories and photographs about the weddings in the Kennedy family history. In a way, they are America's family (warts and all!) and to see a hundred years worth of fashion, fashions and celebrating was a joy from cover to cover.

I read Mr. Mulvaney's other book, JACKIE HER CLOTHES OF CAMELOT and bought this one as well...it's a complete delight and will make a lovely gift to my friends as they get married.

Well done Jay Mulvaney!
