The book was "used" as described, but it didn't come with a CD-rom when I expected it to. Overall, the cost savings made up for it. I just hope the "InfoTrac" is not needed for my class.

Whether you agree with him or not, Nietzsche's thought is pivotal in understanding modern Western society. This one-volume compilation provides an excellent introduction to his core philosophy.

Nietzsche changed my life. This translation and selection heightened and developed my sensibility more than any other philosopher or work of fiction. I think the difference in dynamic plays a role here: in works of fiction the characters represent man in various and hyperreal circumstances, but it is only a representation. With Nietzsche, the life of the real man and what he wrote underscore each other.

Nietzsche is utterly enjoyable. One almost feels a wicked pleasure as he dismantles the various and prevailing constructions of the world. But he always fights fair: he allows his targets to live on the page and fight back.

I love the aphoristic style. The way he briefly but profoundly treats a topic, and then returns to it again with a new twist or perspective. It is rich!

I've typed that name what seems like a thousand times in the last month. I used Beyond Good and Evil for two papers this semester, and he gave me an idea for a short story. What a writer! Not a guy you'd like to be on a desert island with, but his philosophy could be purposely misinterpreted and made into a somewhat logical or at least palatable set of ideas. The interpretation seems to be pretty good...I also used Kaufman's Nietzsche for the research paper I did, and he seems to be pretty knowledgeable and unbiased. I can't wait to read some of the other pieces in this.

a great collection...i don't think it includes 'thus spake zarathustra', though. if it does, my apologies. if i'm right, then that's an odd omission. otherwise, i love it.

The Birth of Tragedy-75 Aphorism-Beyond Good and Evil-The Genealogy of Morals (3 Essays)-The Case of Wagner-Interpretations/commentaries

A great collection, though a strange chronological leap from BOT to BGE. Right for the price and a great review of the later published books of FN. All of Kaufmann's footnotes are maintained. You'll at least want to have had read The Gay Science before coming to this, or even TSZ; Beyond Good and Evil and The Genealogy of Morals are NOT the place to get your feet wet and FN is not joking in Ecce Homo when he says that a close reading and familiarity with his earlier writings is necessary to delve and dredge up all that he has thought through--and to then move on to further possibilities presented by the various threads lain therein.

But if you are really eager to get to these later works, do at least have some familiarity with Hegel and read the Untimely Meditations and then make the leap to this volume.

Caveat: I cannot recommend the Zarathustra translation by Kaufmann, as available through the Viking Portable Library or Penguin; it is truly facile. Hollingdale's translations of the TSZ, Twilight and the AntiChrist are much preferable, thought they lack K's commentary.

It was in great condition. The book was a hell of a lot cheaper than if I bought it at school. I was amazed that I could also pay by check. I am disappointed though that now Amazon will not accept checks any more. I was really looking forward to using them again for purchasing the rest of my books. But the book was impecable =)

Whether your are an entrepreneur, VC or lawyer, THIS is the book that you must read. It's really everything that you need to navigate the entire startup ecosystem. I've been in the industry for over a decade and I still use it as a reference and encourage both entrepreneurs and lawyers to read alike. I also think it's a great resource for VCs sitting on boards to make sure they are complying with all the latest and greatest regulations.

Includes all important areas of law for the entrepreneur. Was most helpful for our incorporation. Good, short, to-the-point, comparisons of S-corp, C-corp, LLC, partnership, and sole proprietorship. Still covered all issues and is updated to late 2007. This is important because the tax-code changes frequently (last major update was in 2003), and small changes to corporate structure and court pratices happen every year. Better than "Structuring Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Entrepreneurial Transactions." Better than "Starting Your Own Business" by Stephen C. Harper. Better than searching for piecemeal information on websites like news.YCombinator.

Other important areas covered are Contracts & Lease, Operational Liability, and Intellectual Property. I will be using this book heavily for those areas as well.

A book that every entrepreneur should read. Read it before you start the company, it will help you a lot.

This book goes into great detail about all aspects of Business Law. Anyone who currently owns a business or is thinking about opening a business needs to read this book, or at least have it near by as a reference guide.

However, the book is certainly aimed at Corporate USA and those who are looking to start up a BIG business. If you are looking to open or currently own a Small Business, then there are better books on the market that are tailored more to your needs.

This book deserves to be on the shelf of every entrepreneur. The Entrepreneur's Guide to Business Law will take you on a virtual tour of the start-up process, and beyond, from the legal perspective. As experienced entrepreneurs understand, any business is a web of relationships, many of which are detailed in legal documents. This is the case for the relationship (establishment) of the entity with the state, relationships between co-founders, relationships between employees and the company, relationship between the company and its investors, suppliers, customers, etc. The legal foundation for all of these is clearly explained, and this book includes a wealth of practical information that will help any entrepreneur to work more efficiently and effectively with their legal counsel.

The book is in very good condition. The shipping and handling was unbelievable fast. Way to go!

It was a great deal on the textbook but I had to change the shipping options 3 times to get the book on time. Initial deliery was 6 weeks later and I had to move it up to 2nd day to get it within 2 weeks.

I found the material to be well-organized, clear, and thorough. The graphics and exercises further served to reinforce the material. The textbook though should have embedded additional examples that pertained to calculations (e.g. penalty calculations). Overall, the textbook is a strong choice to educate the readers in the methodologies and legal underpinnings of federal tax research and the workings of the Internal Revenue Service. Instructors can gear the material for students of varying aptitudes.

My history teacher in high school gave us a choice between this book and another (can't remember the latter's title), and I was more than satisfied with this book. I personally prefer the narrative style and detail of this book. My only further comment is to recommend the concise "Modern European History" by S. Viault as you read/after reading this book. It's a wonderful way to recap the important events of each period, not to mention well-phrased and easy to "get the picture."

Western Civilization: Required text for a Central Texas College course. Book is small text and takes some time to read, but the author does an interesting job of presenting the information. I am now in the second week of class and have only read the first 3 chapters, but was worth the purchase.

Recommendation: Worth buying if you'd like a good introduction to Western Civilization.

It leaves of on chapter 15 or 16 whereas, the next volume picks up on Chapter 13. Why didn't they just combine the two volumes since this book is so short anyway instead of reprinting the last 2 or 3 chapters in the second volume? What a ripoff...
Anyway, it's about as good a Western History textbook as you're going to get.

I purchased my first copy of this text several years from a college bookstore, not for a class, but because I picked it up, began browsing, and couldn't bear to put it down. Although textbooks are not usually written for pleasure reading, I've found Spielvogel's book to be truly well-written and efficiently designed. Maps, chronologies (timelines), and numerous illustrations and sidebars make the text inviting and accessible.

One of my favorite features is the inclusion of excerpts from original source documents. It's fascinating to read the writings of a medieval merchant of Paris on the subject of marriage, or excerpts from the court record of the trial of Joan of Arc. It provides a vivid, memorable glimpse of life in a different place and time.

I used this textbook to prepare for the Western Civilization CLEP, and I passed with no difficulty at all, earning 6 credits toward my bachelor's degree. Western Civ is a huge topic, and Dr. Spielvogel has done a terrific job of making it not only accessible, but enjoyable. I recommend this book!

I READ THIS BOOK FOR WESTERN CIV I & II AND I LOVED IT! NOT TO MENTION THAT I RECEIVED AN A ON BOTH TESTS. EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ IT FOR COLLEGE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. IT IS SUCH A TREAT TO READ AND I BELIEVE IT BELONGS IN EVERY HOME. EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW WHERE THE CRADLE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION BEGAN, AND HOW THE PEOPLE LIVED AND PROGRESSED THROUGHOUT THE AGES. I CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE THIS BOOK WITH MY CHILDREN SOMEDAY. HAPPY READING!

I thought this book gives you a tremendous amount of information. However I took a star off my rating because I think it gives a little to much to stomach per chapter. Overall it is a great Intro to Business text book.

This text, I found, to be easy to read and understand. Following along through the fundamentals of business was a snap and made the semester much more enjoyable (if college can be).
