This may be a good reference book for those who have a working knowledge of this subject, but buyer beware, that's all it
is.
In the instructions regarding my first essay assignment, the professor said to "use MLA or APA." Having no instruction in English over the past 36 years, and no idea what this meant, I looked it up on the internet and ordered this book. In the second chapter: "The Basics of Citation," there is no mention or explanation of basic elements that must be entered into a citation.

This is definitely the best book I read regarding citation styles. It's nicely written, self explanatory, extremely well organized.

The examples are clear and make it easy to understand how to use each reference style. I use APA in grad school and MLA as
a teacher, so having both styles in one book is very helpful to me. This a a solid guide to ALL citation styles. If you
don't want to buy all separate guides, this is a good way to go. It is the perfect book for a college or master's level grad
student.

I like this book a lot. I'm a mid-life returning graduate student who's halfway through my program. Although I have the
APA Manual, I still refer to this book for APA as well as MLA and legal citations. I like the fact that it lists in-text
and works cited together so you can see how to cite within the body of your writing and at the end. A very worthwhile book
to have on your reference shelf.

Cite It Right has given me confidence and peace of mind in my research as a writer. I finally understand all of the tricky
guidelines that my teachers fuss about. Bibliographies and citations used to drive me crazy, but referring to this ultimate
reference book has provided me reassurance in my citing. I know I will use this book through the rest of my college career.
A "must-have" for anyone preparing a scholarly work, especially if for one of these big four writing styles.

Now in an updated second edition, Cite It Right: The Source Aid Guide to Citation, Research, and Avoiding Plagiarism is a
guide written especially for students and researchers. Cite It Right spells out exactly how to give credit where credit is
due in circles where being "by the book" in one's references and citations is absolutely critical to earning good grades,
furthering one's career, creating a professional-quality paper, and avoiding even the slightest possibility of unintentional
plagiarism. Chapters briefly refresh the reader about the basics of researching and writing papers, but the four main chapters
of Cite It Right are particularly devoted to the express guidelines required by four different professional organizations:
the Modern Language Association, the American Psychological Association, Chicago Manual of Style, and Council of Science Editors.
Though not sponsored or endorsed by any of these groups, Cite It Right meticulously spells out each group's precise format
guidelines, including their individual terminologies, specific examples, and the format expected for different types of citations.
A "must-have" for anyone preparing a scholarly work, especially if for one of these big four writing styles.

I read this book for a French class in college; it's tough going if you're not fluent, but I had a great teacher who guided
us through the analysis. The story is about a girl from Guadeloupe who leaves her feisty, beloved grandmother to live in France
with her estranged mother and stepfather. She moves to the Projects, and starts elementary school, where she excels but faces
prejudice. All the while, she longs for Guadeloupe and feels isolated in France, until she meets a boy who I think is Algerian,
and whose experience in some ways connects with her own.
Overall, the novel is rather sad, but it's beautifully written, the dialogue is great, and it's good practice for students of French.

This is a very good book for people who speak french but want to keep up their skill by reading french, as I do. I found it
very absorbing - very touching account of a young girl taken from her childhood home on a Pacific island to live the very
different life of the project housing in the great city of Paris.
Beautifully written without too many of the slang words and phrases that most French people are familiar with, but are incompomprehensible to others.

I have had my copy of the CITE YOUR SOURCES for so many years, I cannot remember when I bought it. The point being that this
should be just about the first book anyone starting their reseach should buy. If we as new or researchers of long standing
do not Cite Our Sources, our research is really not worth much to ourselves or to others. Thanks to Mr. Lackey for writing
it and for those who have kept it in publication for so many years. To dwell on just a few chapters would be unfair to the
entire book. Each page is most important to our research as a whole - not just in part as we all must know where each available
proof is located in order that our information may be taken as fact rather than "I think or I believe".

This book is well thought out and accurate; however, it is somewhat outdated for today's researcher. There are no mentions
of web/Internet data. The formats suggested for the Works Cited or footnotes section of a genealogist's publication are somewhat
archaic.
Now Obsolete. Mills' Evidence!... is the latest.

This was THE authority on the subject, however Elizabeth Shown Mills' book Evidence! Citation and Analysis for the Family
Historian is better.

For a book on such an important subject with regards to genealogy, I was a little disappointed. While there are ample examples
throughout book, this book is out-of-date for today's genealogist. No mention of electronic sources and how to document.
Save your money and buy "Evidence: Citation and Analysis for the Family Historian" by Elizabeth Shown Mills. Ms. Mills refers
to Lackey's book countless times and gives better examples.

This is an excellent book - very "ripe" for it time! This little gem will tell you all about how to get that tricky reference
just right - how to cite authors in edited works, CD;s software and all manner of media.
The authors clearly explain how to avoid the terrible pitfalls of Plagiarism - this is a must for all University students - and at a very reasonable price, it should be the first book a student should buy at the Uni bookshop!
The work is clearly structured and nicely presented. The writing style is easy and friendly and there has been meticulous attention to detail!
I would highly recommnend this book to all students ( and academic staff may also find it useful).
